Bride could not sleep. She was much too excited and besides, she would have had to wake up when the moon was highest in the sky, anyway, so the yearling figured why bother with trying to sleep? She had much more important things to do tonight, like finally, after months of waiting, receiving her pentagrams. She cast a glance at her bare shoulders, pouting at the unmarked skin and reaching to nip harshly at the left one, very nearly breaking the skin, teeth bruising the sensitive flesh. She couldn't wait to get right of the unmarked skin and finally have physical proof of her purpose on this earth. She was to dedicate herself to the Lord and Lady of the Underworld physically now, after spending months dedicating herself mentally, and next here would come the spiritual dedication. She would willingly hand her soul over to the Lord and Lady, for them to do with it what they wanted, to hold and keep safe until it was her time to die and then she would be greeted by them in the Underworld. That was going to be the best day of her life, but right now, tonight was going to be the best. Just a few more hours until the moon was at it's highest point. Until then, she would stand here, eager and waiting, in the brightest part of Charm's land where the ritual would take place. She was supposed to wait for Kero to come and get her, but Bride was simply too eager to wait for him in her sleeping spot and had decided to come here instead. It would show that she was ready, wouldn't it?
A few hours of silence later, she finally saw figures approaching. One stood out from the rest. He was leading them, a grullo and white figure, and Bride had to stop herself from squealing when she saw him. She began to dance in place, burgundy eyes watering in delight. Finally, finally, finally! She couldn't even hold herself still once Kero and the others had halted in front of her, flints shuffling against the earth as she danced, head bobbing as she snorted softly. It was only when the sternly spoken command from Kero came that she halted, body freezing immediately as she uttered, "Enough."
Black Veil Bride kept herself completely still, eyes forward, staring at the other gathered Ghosts, all of them older than herself. Kero approached her, motioning with his skull for one of the others Ghosts to go off into the woods to find a perfectly sharpened stick. Bride knew what was coming next. "You have proved your devotion, Black Veil Bride. You have proved that you are ready and willing to serve the Lord and Lady. Are you ready to dedicate your body to them, as you have dedicated your mind?" he hissed, standing directly in front of the smaller, younger equine. Bride squeaked in excitement, nodding, words childish as she spoke. "I'm ready, I'm ready. Pentagrams, please!"
Kero said nothing, but took the stick from the other Ghost as they returned. Bride inhaled sharply, biting her lip, eyes widening as he approached first her left shoulder, holding the stick as he reached for her shoulder. Bride did her best not to make any pained noises as he began to carve the marking into her shoulder, gritting her teeth and letting out only the softest of whimpers, the sounds only excused because she was different from the others, mentally, but still just as devoted. When both pentagrams were finally carved into her flesh, hot blood seeping from the fresh wounds and down her front legs, the yearling had watering eyes and was sniffling even as she smiled, starting to dance in place again as Kero dropped the stick to the ground. "I won't disappoint you, Lord Ghost," she promised and Kero merely nodded his head before turning his back on the newly marked Ghost, leading the already marked Ghosts back to their sleeping spot that Charm had granted them. Bride followed at a slower pace, limping, but happy. This was the beginning of a brand new chapter of her life. And she couldn't be more excited.
