Duramus had debated over whether this was the right course of action for days. He was still freshly into his role as a Vigilum, but his conviction was strong. For Dur, peace was the bottom line. He had learned that part of the reason the Vigilum had been created was to stand in the middle of the Versai and the Helkaer, aiding those caught between the two ends of the polarizing spectrum. Their role was to mediate and heal both physically and mentally and to help in relationships they came across that were fracturing and for whom their aid was requested for the repair of. Dur himself had identified with the Neutral alliance precisely because he didn’t want to be caught in the extremes of Dark and Light. The Versai and the Helkaer both took those extremes a step further, what with the Versai’s extreme cleansing ceremony to convert horses to the Light and the Helkaer’s sheer adherence to survival of the fittest and opposition to the Dark Kingdom. They were both dangerous groups. The Vigilum made up the balance. Despite his personal beliefs of the extreme ends to which both groups went to, Duramus knew he could no longer hold any opinion as to their methods. He was a forever neutral party now, and his actions would only be those that favored peace.
That was why he had set off for Lyrarcor today, home to Versai High Priestess Allocen. He knew that Lyrarcor had recently been scorched to devastation by a member of the Helkaer, though he knew not the reasoning behind the attack or anything to do with what had happened. He came not only to acquaint himself with Allocen, but to offer any aid with herbs that he could provide, as well as any mediation that could be necessary between the groups. He understood that the Vigilum were generally not on the best of terms with the Versai due to their disapproval of their extreme methods, but he also knew that a Vigilum’s duty was to provide aid, and Lyrarcor seemed like a land in need, home to a herd of equines despite whatever their beliefs may have been. He also knew that he was a new face that perhaps the Versai could feel comfortable conversing with; he had no history with them and sometimes a fresh face was all that was needed to mend a relationship.
Conviction steeling his heart, Duramus traversed the stones of Mersa and set off for his destination. Lyrarcor’s borders were protected by a thick line of trees, emerald green in color. The land was full of thick grass as well. Dur imagined that it would have been hard to maneuver through had it not been recently devastated by fire; as it was, new green shoots were pushing up through the ashes. Some of the trees still appeared blackened and generally dead, though others showed evidence of new growth. Dur took it as an encouraging sign of progress; perhaps the herd itself would also be recovering. Steeling himself, Dur continued to walk forward, hooves sinking into the ash-softened soil. He halted a few minutes in, predicting himself to be somewhere in the middle of the land. The place was definitely difficult to navigate; he hoped Allocen or a Versai herd member would be kind enough to escort him out once their business was through.
Drawing himself up, Duramus called out Is anybody here? I’m a Vigilum member come to meet with Allocen. The land would likely be on high alert after the fires that had devastated it; he imagined he wouldn’t have to wait long for an audience.

It had been around a month since Trinity had returned home from Ittudale. About a month since her home had burned. Everything was still charred and ashen. She still did not have her boys home, but she planned on demanding their return, fighting if she had to, in order to get them back. Her boys belonged in Lyrarcor, not the Dark Lands. It was Hymn she was the most worried about. He was just a baby still... had just barely been weaned when he was taken. Trinity had thought Cadence was going to get him back, but it had been months now, and she had not even heard from Cadence. She feared he had lost his position as Lord and she was now going to be left on her own. She was just thankful that Rasa had played a part in freeing her from Eleazar. But what was next? Another attack by the Darks? They were not going to be prepared for what she had to throw at them. If they did not comply with her wishes, she would flood them out. She would keep attacking them where it hurt. She would take their youth and raise them the proper way - full of Light. She would cleanse the world. The buckskin High Priestess was determined. No one was going to stop her.
Is anybody here? I’m a Vigilum member come to meet with Allocen. She was near the edge of her lands when she heard the call coming from somewhere in the middle. She huffed, wondering what the hell the Vigilum wanted with her. She knew that they did not like her, or the Versai in general. On edge but wanting to remain civil, Trinity carefully pushed herself into a trot. She had healed from her injuries from the battle with Eleazar and was slowly getting back into her training. She had a lot she needed to do, if she wanted to make the Dark alliance pay. It did not take long for her to spot the hellion that had called out for her. She put on a smile, slowing to a walk to finish her approach to him. "Hello. I am Allocen. How can I help you?" she asked, her words hesitant but curious as she looked the brute up and down. She was not a Vigilum member that she recognized. A new member, perhaps, or an apprentice?

As Dur had predicted, the response was fast. He had only just called out when a form emerged, seeming to melt from the emerald forest into being before him. She was walking towards him now, confident in her homeland. Dur was internally thankful that she did not seem outwardly hostile towards him and hoped that he would be able to keep it that way. As she approached, he allowed himself to observe her, relying on eyes that once had scoured for weakness in opponents before him and now sought to catalogue all information in general that could help him in his conversation with her. She appeared uninjured and in fairly good health despite the charred state of her homeland. Her buckskin pelt was decorated with the brand of the Versai just above her left hind quarter, clearly displayed for all to see. Dur related to that – he’d asked for his brand to appear above his right front leg for display value as well. In that way, Allocen’s brand placement was like a mirror of his own.
The buckskin mare introduced herself, courteous but maintaining a polite distance between them. She looked him up and down, apparently doing her own analysis. Duramus knew he posed an intimidating figure, standing at a full eighteen hands high with the muscles any Draft stallion would possess. The battle scars littering his pelt also served to intimidate others, speaking of many battles he had survived. The light gray paint he wore served as an offset to the scars, hopefully drawing more attention than they did, but he knew they were still numerous and clearly visible. Regardless, Dur doubted the scars would intimidate the mare before him. She had survived quite a few battles of her own, he was sure.
Allocen asked how she would be able to help him, causing Dur to internally grin in amusement. He was actually here to help her, if possible, but offering aid outright could cause her to be defensive. He had to be light in his words lest he inadvertently presented a threat and be unable to help at all. Choosing his words and approach carefully, Dur began to speak, his tone absolutely courteous and respectful. It’s a pleasure to meet you, Allocen. I’m Duramus, and I’ve just become a full member of the Vigilum. He motioned his head down towards his right shoulder, the brand displayed proudly on it, before continuing. The stories I’ve heard do not do justice to the beauty of Lyrarcor. He looked around at the forest surrounding them, genuine appreciation showing in his light gray eyes. Shortly after becoming a Vigilum, I heard that your lands had been recently burned. Such destruction must have been difficult for yourself and your herd, yet Lyrarcor appears to be healing before my very eyes. Duramus finally broke his gaze from the forest to directly meet Allocen’s eyes.
My interests as a Vigilum concern ensuring peace and eliminating suffering he said quietly. I know all equines have their differences, but I like to see how we can work together within them. He hoped his delicate reference to past differences between the Vigilum and the Versai would not go undetected by the mare before him. If there is any conflict for which you desire a neutral intermediary or any suffering within your own herd or by yourself that you would like alleviated, I am here. If there is, however, nothing, then I will be content to have introduced myself to you, such that you may contact me in the future should you need anything. He’d added an out at the end to make it clear he didn’t mean to impose himself on her; he had offered his aid, and now it was up to her to take it, leave it, or question him further.

No one understood the Versai. No one understood their mission. They were not the bad guys here. They were not the ones wrecking having on the innocent. They were not the ones burning territories down - though in her case, she was no angry at Sly, but at Zephyr, the Dark King. She had wanted to even join the Helkaer in their attack on Lachlan Breck, but her injuries from her battle with Eleazar had still been fresh when Respira came to her to speak about what happened. And now she was lacking some of the strength and muscle she'd had previously, due to not being able to train for about a month. She had only gotten back into training in the last week. She felt weak. She felt hopeless. She felt helpless. But she had to stay strong and stay determined. For herself, for the Versai, for her boys. She knew she was lacking allies. She knew she had virtually no friends outside of the Sisterhood. They were on their own, her and Eos. They were going to have to build themselves up again. Either that or crumble into complete failure.
She eyed the massive draft brute that stood in her home. Due to the nature of her home, Lyrarcor had, slowly, started to regenerate new growth. But it was nothing compared to what it had once been. This place no longer felt like home. She wondered if it ever would again. It’s a pleasure to meet you, Allocen. I’m Duramus, and I’ve just become a full member of the Vigilum. He spoke and he sounded friendly enough, but Trinity was still suspicious. "Does Zana know you're here?" she asked, her own voice blunt and right to the point. She didn't want to anger Zana, and also didn't want Duramus to get in any trouble for coming to see her. Trinity was well aware that Zana was not a fan of her. The stories I’ve heard do not do justice to the beauty of Lyrarcor. The buckskin's ears twitched in bitter amusement, jaw clenching. Shortly after becoming a Vigilum, I heard that your lands had been recently burned. Such destruction must have been difficult for yourself and your herd, yet Lyrarcor appears to be healing before my very eyes.
Her whole posture was now tense, her eyes dark and cold. "There is nothing beautiful about my home anymore, Duramus," she stated in the same blunt tone she had used just moments ago. "It will take years for it to be even close to what it was before. It does not even feel like home anymore. Might never feel like home again." She had wanted to remain civil, but after all that had happened, the High Priestess was feeling on edge. My interests as a Vigilum concern ensuring peace and eliminating suffering. A brow quirked. Was he here to tell her that the Versai cleansing process was unethical, just like everyone else who didn't know a goddamn thing about it seemed to think? I know all equines have their differences, but I like to see how we can work together within them. That comment brought to mind the difference between the Helkaer and the Versai and how Trinity had been ready to drop everything to help them get revenge for Sly... if only she was properly healthy...
If there is any conflict for which you desire a neutral intermediary or any suffering within your own herd or by yourself that you would like alleviated, I am here. If there is, however, nothing, then I will be content to have introduced myself to you, such that you may contact me in the future should you need anything. She thought of some of her herd members and released a heavy sigh. "I have some herd members that could use some help. Some healing. They were injured in the fire." She suddenly sounded so tired. Exhausted. Overwhelmed. She should have been here when it happened, but stupid Eleazar had to keep her captive. Goddamn, the Dark alliance...
