It was a wicked storm during the night that had roused her from her sleep, the thunder rolling and lightning cracking so fiercely that she had feared, upon being startled awake, that she was dying. It all seemed so silly now, looking back, especially now that the storm had passed and only the gentle trickling of rain was left. Not nearly the terrible downpour that had happened in the night. Keira was walking through Wild Equines, having no home to call her own. She was in territory that she was unfamiliar with. She was not sure where she was, honestly. She must have gotten lost while meandering in the dark. The sun was just starting to rise now, edging up from the horizon, though the light was muffled and gray due to heavy cloud cover - the remnants of the storm. Curious but wary, since she was unsure of where she was, exactly, the chestnut tobiano mare did her best to stay on the outskirts of wherever it was she had ended up in. None of the scents were familiar so she knew she was not in the Free Lands. This hard to be claimed territory, then. That had her feeling quite apprehensive, considering the only herd she'd ever lived in before was Dark Woods, when she'd been forced in slavery by Jaezonte. The man was long gone now, but the memory remained. She did not know if Dark Woods was still around. She held no ill will toward anyone that lived there. She had understood that Jaezonte had been trying to take over the herd, but had thankfully failed.
Shuddering at the memory, Keira inched forward, her ears swiveling upon her head in hopes of hearing anyone approaching her before they could get too close. She figured it would be best to bolt instead of converse with someone she didn't know, especially since she was intruding - not on purpose, of course. She would never. However, that also raised the issue of her not knowing where she was or what direction would bring her back to the Free Lands. She had no idea what way to run to bring herself to safety. The realization dawned on her and her steps faltered for a moment, her ears tilting back to show her discomfort. Hopefully, whoever lived here wouldn't mind her just passing through. Maybe someone would ever come and point her in the right direction for getting back to the Free Lands.
