When Avinash had spoken to Vojorn at his coronation, she had mentioned wanting to discuss the council meeting that had been held, and how her herd would tie into it. The council meeting that he was fairly certain she was speaking of had been one in regards to the Neutral Kingdom’s defense, a project which King Alistair and Queen Laqueta had been working on developing together. From what Avinash had heard, it was still largely an idea more than anything tangible. It was something that he wanted to continue working on - after all, it seemed like common knowledge within the Neutral Kingdom that a large part of why they had fallen in the last war they had fought had been because of a lack of structured defense. So of course, this seemed like something that was needed in order to avoid making a similar error in the future. Avinash just wasn’t sure exactly how they could bring it all together. There were lots of ideas thrown out, for example assigning the council members a different task to focus upon. One could work on training soldiers, others would work on securing intel, so that they were more “in-the-know” and prepared should any trouble show up on the Neutral Kingdom’s borders. As far as he was aware, this much had been made clear to everyone, but progress further than that had not happened. Avinash was unsure as to why not, for he would have figured that the roles should have been discussed and decided upon, but alas that was not the case. It was for this reason that he was interested in pursuing the topic with Vojorn further, for maybe she might have some more insight as to why things hadn’t been happening, and what they might be able to do to make it so. Of course, Avinash too would discuss the matter with his queen, she who had actually been present at the last council meeting, but this conversation with Vojorn would also give the newly crowned king a chance to visit one of the domains he was responsible for.
He had not been to Dark Woods before, so it took him some time to sort out where he was going. He had left Tremala Woods fairly early in the morning, giving him the opportunity to take his time in his journey. He enjoyed the trek - the summer season was quickly approaching, and Wild Equines was teeming with life. The sun awoke early, and warm weather was making its appearance, although it was not so hot as to make one uncomfortable and desperate to find shade. His bay tobiano frame felt cozy beneath the morning sunlight, and an unobscured blue sky above his dial lifted his spirits. With the lush greenery that formed the Neutral Kingdom combined with fair weather and a beautiful day, Avinash felt free of stress. At least, for the time being. He was sure once he actually arrived to Dark Woods and got down to business, having to focus on politics and the like, perhaps he would not be so elated. But for the time being, the young stallion was basking in the tranquility.
Finally, after some time, he reached the borders of Dark Woods. This had to be the place, based on description alone. Much akin to his own territory, the land that expanded before him was made up of a thickly forested surface. However, the trees appeared to come much more densely packed, filtering out most of the light which tried to rain down, giving the woodland a rather dark, shadowed appearance. He supposed that’s why it being called “Dark Woods” was so suiting. As he progressed forwards, he noted when the scents lingering in the air and on the earth changed, and the unmistakable whiff of equines hit him. It was at this point that he drew himself to a halt, figuring this was possibly the edge of the domain, and he did not want to press further without invitation. Peering his viridian voids into the trees in a feeble attempt to try to see anyone, Avinash lifted his pale-faced dial and called out, ”Hello? It’s Avinash! I’m hoping to speak to Vojorn… Or… perhaps even Reth if she’s available?” Hopefully, someone would hear his call and he wasn’t just standing there making a fool of himself, yelling to no one.

The day was coming closer; Vojorn could feel it. Her mother had taken her aside to discuss some things about Dark Woods - how the coronation had gone and what she'd learned by going to it. Vojorn had had a good time at the coronation. She'd enjoyed both of the longer conversations she'd had there - one with the newly crowned Avinash and the other with a Helkaer, which was a bit surprising. But she liked being in-the-know and prepared for what was to come next. During the whole conversation, Vojorn felt a bit like their positions had reversed. Before, it had always been Vojorn asking her mother questions and wondering at what she had learned. This time, Reth was asking her. It was... exciting, if Vojorn was honest. Others might feel nervous at the prospect of taking over a herd - especially a herd as large and old as Dark Woods, but Vojorn was excited. She was eager to become the lead and take on the responsibilities, to find out as much information as she could to help them out. And it wasn't like she was going to be doing it alone. Reth would still be around and Jazmin was still the Beta. Vojorn figured her mother would probably step back into the General position - it would just be like her warrior's heart to do so. Reth had not said anything of her plans outloud to Vojorn, but the painted mare could sense it was coming. She wouldn't get a coronation like the Neutral King, but a herd meeting would likely be announced.
Vojorn had been so distracted by this development - and indeed, the responsibilities she'd started taking on over these past few months, that something very obvious had slipped by her. She was pregnant. It was not entirely a surprise given she'd never bothered to be careful. It was only a surprise in that she had not noticed it until a few days ago. Now that she'd noticed it, she was amazed that it had slipped past her. She had put on weight, but she had also been training more - she'd assumed it was more muscle. Her hunger was because of the training and because of the stress of the new responsibilities. But it was much more than that. It was not the best timing with her responsibilities changing, but she could hardly be angry about it. She was going to have another baby! Vrakali and Osias were well past weaning age now and nearly two years old. And now they were going to be big sisters. Vojorn knew who the father was. She hadn't been with anyone else but him in a while. She couldn't wait to see his face when she told him he was going to be a father again.
Her thoughts were interrupted by a familiar and unexpected call, 'Hello? It’s Avinash! I’m hoping to speak to Vojorn… Or… perhaps even Reth if she’s available?' Vojorn smiled and made her way toward the call with no hesitation, her previous task forgotten. Vojorn had been hoping to speak to him again after the coronation. With her impending promotion, she wanted to know more about the defense meeting that her mother had told her about. At least, she assumed that's why Avinash was here. If not, that was fine. Hopefully it was nothing bad, though. She breached the trees and approached the stallion, still smiling. She gave a respectful nod of her head. "Welcome, Avinash! It's great to see you again. How can I help you?" she greeted him and then she waited to see what was on his mind.

The young royal had a lot on his mind, although the circumstance that had brought him his concerns, might actually improve things for him. At least, that was what he was trying to tell himself, as it was easier than constantly enduring the hurt he felt otherwise. After having returned from his venturing outside the Neutral Kingdom, and during the period of a few days rest at home, King Avinash and Queen Laqueta had received some disheartening news from one of their mainlands, Eacarrah. Gavin, son of Tallulah, had come to Tremala Woods in order to confirm what Avinash had been suspicious of. You see, Avinash was very, very fond of Eacarrah’s heir, and Gavin’s sister, Evera. They had been friends ever since they were very small. They had taken many of their steps in life together, had grown together, and their friendship had flourished. When Avinash had free moments, he had found himself seeking out her company time and time again. The last time that he had seen the blue-roaned filla had been at his coronation. She had attended to represent Eacarrah that eve, stating that her mother was heavily pregnant, and they had not wanted her to risk the journey that it would take to make the trek to the woods. Of course, being Avinash’s best friend, she likely would have been there even if she hadn’t had such a responsibility to fill. It had been that night, after watching her converse with many others, especially many other males, that he realized his feelings for her could not be denied any longer. He had tried to push them aside, afraid she would not return the sentiment, and worried that their friendship would struggle because of it. And, well, for the weeks to come after that eve, it almost seemed as though that had been the case. He had told her how he felt for her, and then, there was nothing. Sure, he had been busied by performing his kingly duties, these tasks taking him away from the Neutral Kingdom more frequently, but still Evera’s absence had been noticed. At least if she had simply not returned his feelings, he would still be comforted by the fact that he knew she was okay. But this was not the case, for Gavin had reported to the royals that both Tallulah and Evera had vanished. They had no idea where they had gone, or what had happened to them. Gavin, in the meantime, had stepped up to take over leading Eacarrah, which Laqueta and Avinash both greatly appreciated. But of course, the thought still lingered in his mind – what had happened?
He would spread the word of their disappearance. In fact, speaking with Vojorn would be a good opportunity to pass along the news, if she hadn’t already been made aware of the situation. He wanted the Neutral Kingdom on the look out for the pair of missing individuals. They were not only members of the Neutral Kingdom, but cherished, valuable ones at that. They had done a great deal of work, dedicating their time and efforts to the kingdom so far, and if they had been taken by some sort of offensive action from another faction… Avinash wanted to know, as there had to be a response. Of course, the most important thing to him was ensuring their safety… But also, he wanted the world to know that the Neutral Kingdom would not stand down, not any longer. These concerns of his were legitimate, correct of a king to feel. But the way that this situation might actually improve for him, at least in the eyes of his older sister, was that Evera’s absence meant that she was no longer a distraction to him. Divine had disliked Evera for quite some time, ever since she and Avinash as younglings had returned to the woods after taking a bit too much of a risk during playtime, and the end result had been Avinash being injured. The former Neutral Queen, then, had always been watchful and wary, not approving of the time the younger individuals constantly spent together. It hurt his heart to think about it in such a way, but maybe his sister was right. With Evera gone, Avinash’s mind could focus more on his role as king. He would not be worried about how he felt about her, how she felt about him, what that might mean, and the like. It was just no longer an option, not even something to consider. Without her around to remind him of his love for her, he could be a more dedicated king. At least, that’s what Divine said. And at least, that’s what he was trying to force himself to believe about it, too. He could still be concerned about Tallulah and Evera’s disappearance. But at least he didn’t have to be concerned about her not reciprocating his feelings.
He had only had several short moments to be lost in these thoughts after he had made his call out to Dark Woods before he was attended to. Soon enough, Vojorn’s familiar painted bay dun frame came into view, her blazed dial sporting a smile. The sight of her friendliness warmed him, and his own façade transitioned into a wide beam as well. He received a respectful nod from the noble lady, and was met with the words, ”Welcome, Avinash! It’s great to see you again. How can I help you?” Dipping his own head in a cordial salute, he responded openly with, ”Hello Vojorn! It’s really nice to see you again too!” His sage-hued voids gleaming, he pressed on to explain the reason for his presence, ”As promised from what we discussed at the coronation, I wanted to extend my hand to you. I was hoping to get your insight on how things might be improved within the Neutral Kingdom, and I believe you said you had questions about the council meeting.”

Avinash returned her grin, much to her joy. She was growing pretty fond of the Neutral King. She had not known Alistair at all, so she was glad she was making a relationship with the new Neutral King and his son. She wanted them to have a strong alliance and good communication. She liked to think she was well on her way to accomplishing that. Eventually, she would visit all of the other Neutral herds as well to maintain Dark Wood's relationship with them as well. Her mother had done a good job leading their herd - there was no denying that - but she had not done the best job in visiting with other herds, a fact that she admitted to Vojorn when teaching her how to lead. 'Hello Vojorn! It’s really nice to see you again too!' he greeted her. 'As promised from what we discussed at the coronation, I wanted to extend my hand to you. I was hoping to get your insight on how things might be improved within the Neutral Kingdom, and I believe you said you had questions about the council meeting,' he said to her. So this was the follow-up meeting then, as she had suspected.
She was mostly curious about the council meeting. As far as ideas for the Neutral Kingdom went, she might have to think more on that. She certainly wanted some more interaction between them - maybe a day for them to bring their foals to play together? That seemed like fun and was appropriate given that she was expecting. "I'm mostly curious about the council meeting. My mother returned home from it and seemed frustrated. I gathered from her that we were all to be given duties to carry out within the Neutral Kingdom and when my mother offered Dark Woods for combat, she was told to pick something else," Vojorn relayed, recalling from memory what her mother had told her about that day. It all sounded a bit confusing. "But she wasn't exactly sure which duty she could pick as it they weren't figured out yet. Have the duties been figured out yet? Will we have another council meeting?" she asked. She was passing no judgment at all on Avinash. It was a lot of work to organize a whole Kingdom and she simply wanted to know the status and what she should be expecting. Did her herd need to start training more or were they destined for another purpose? "As far as improvements in the Neutral Kingdom, I wouldn't mind having a few gatherings between all the herds every now and again. Maybe a day for us to round all of our foals up to meet and play," she said with a chuckle. She would love for all the kids to have friends outside of their herds that they could meet up with. Friendships would only strengthen their Kingdom.

While Avinash was obviously made aware of the plan that his father and Queen Laqueta had been working on in regards to a defence system, he could not pretend he was an expert in it. It was their work, so far, not his. Of course, he was willing to take it on. He thought focusing on increasing the kingdom's protection was a brilliant idea, particularly when they spoke about doing so in more ways than just training soldiers. That was an important part, but there were many other options to consider that would help, too. So though he had heard some of what had happened at the last meeting, he didn't know everything. Which left him feeling kind of badly when Vojorn responded to him with the words of, ”I’m mostly curious about the council meeting. My mother returned home from it and seemed frustrated. I gathered from her that we were all to be given duties to carry out within the Neutrl Kingdom and when my mother offered Dark Woods for combat, she was told to pick something else.” Damn. He knew that she was curious about the council meeting. He should have made a better effort to prepare himself for this conversation, such as seeking out Queen Laqueta to discuss it with her first. At least then he would be more in the know. But nooooo, he had to foolishly dash here after returning to the Neutral Kingdom, desperate to keep his promise to Vojorn, even though he might not be able to provide her with any actual useful information. Great. Good decision making, Avinash. Ignoring the voice of doubt in himself, he tried to turn things more positively. Taking to heart what she had just said to him, he commented genuinely, ”I don’t understand why she would have been told to pick something else. Especially considering that might have been the first time it was brought to her attention, whereas it then sounds like others had heard about it before and already been given a task. That’s not fair.” It did indeed sound as though some had been promised a role before the options had even been given to others, which wasn't just. He wasn't sure who else had been promised being able to take on combat, but Dark Woods seemed really suiting - at least, that was what he had gathered from the one and only conversation he had had with Vojorn prior, where they had briefly discussed fighting. Pressing on, the young royal said, ”I would rather hear what positions you all are interested in, and then hopefully be able to come to an agreement when that has been made clear. But we need to decide together, not in parts.” That seemed like the logical thing to do. But perhaps it would not be so easy to come to an agreement, particularly when more than one individual wanted the same role.
The painted femme continued on to explain to him, ”But she wasn’t exactly sure which duty she could pick as they weren’t figured out yet. Have duties been figured out yet? Will we have another council meeting?” He felt badly, once again, that more was not figured out. But he was not about to lie to her to try to make himself look better. He genuinely had been focusing other kingly tasks, which had kept his focus and efforts away from the defence council. It wasn't as if he was just trying to ignore it. So, speaking honesty, he responded to her with what he knew. ”No, they are not entirely formed. From what I understand, Queen Laqueta had wanted each herd, or council member I suppose, to have a task. Which means we would need to come up with several. Combat, or training soldiers, is probably one of the more straightforward ones. Then we want a group that’s dedicated to keeping an ear out, finding out news, keeping us in the know of what’s happening within the other realms. Healing our soldiers who get injured, or anyone else who might come to the kingdom seeking help. And then maybe… Refuge? For various reasons. If lands are threatened and burned, like I am told they were during the war. Or if they get flooded again, like we saw last summer.” He was not sure how badly Dark Woods had been affected by the flooding. Tremala Woods hadn't been the worst, but it had been quite mucky and gross. Lifting his gaze to meet Vojorn's, he smiled earnestly at her, and then commented kindly, ”But if you have any other ideas for roles, please let me know. I’m not sure if Queen Laqueta has others in mind, and I will talk to her about it, but I’m curious to hear other’s opinion too.” Being new to his role, and life really, he was inexperienced in such matters. He was sure others might have some outstanding ideas that he would never even have imagined, so he wanted to keep an open mind to other's opinions and experiences. ”We will definitely be having another council meeting, though I hope to get a lot more straightened out and decided upon before we call it. So instead of gathering everyone for just speculation, an actual plan can be made, and progress will be formed.” He concluded, hoping she would be at least a little bit satisfied with what he was able to offer her... Even if it wasn't as much clarity as she might have been hoping to gain.
When he inquired as to thoughts on what they could do to improve the Neutral Kingdom, Vojorn seemed to give it respectful, attentive thought. When she responded, she suggested, ”As far as improvements in the Neutral Kingdom, I wouldn’t mind having a few gatherings between all the herds every now and again. Maybe a day for us to round all of our foals up to meet and play.” He nodded in acknowledgement of her words, responding quickly with, "I can certainly try to arrange more herd meetings." Then, his visage transitioning into a wide beam, he added, "And I love the idea of getting the foals together. That would be so fun! I know my niece, Rinoa, would just adore that. As would my younger siblings, the triplets." That would be such a great time, plus, could have the additional benefit of having the adults accompany their children and give them a chance to catch up as well. What a great idea!
