(Trigger Warning for Thread: Horror/Blood/Gore/Violence/Trauma/Death/Implied Bodies)
A dull, yet painfully persistent ache dragged the crimson stallion back to consciousness. Exhaustion weighed his limbs down and kept his lids from opening. Each breath brought a new wave of pain through his barrel and threatened to overwhelm him. Something about it seemed familiar... as though he'd been asleep for a very long time and only know recalled the day prior. A shudder swept over his frame as he could remember the intense pain and nausea that served as his last memory. He'd had a fever too - his hide was soaked in sweat and caked in grime from being down so long. The realization hit him more violently than wave crashing against rocks: he was remembering his death. Panic forced the stallion to his hooves as he awkwardly lunged upwards. The deep ache protested the movement and he faltered before his hind legs rightened themselves. His forelegs shook with effort and his breath came in heavy pants and wheezes as he fought to simply stand. Still, his hind legs could not support him. The stallion released an agonized scream that tore from his throat and echoed through the empty void that'd engulfed him. Each way he looked, the darkness stretched on and only vague shapes could be seen. It was almost as though a moonless night had consumed him. The dark shapes of massive trees or perhaps mountains were visible in the far distance, but no matter how hard Link squinted and tried to focus, they never could be seen clearly. A mix of dried mud and grass lay beneath him and he realized that it was meant to be Toxin Raj... just off, in some way he couldn't place. As though everything was coated in shadows and out of focus.
"Why do they always scream?" the question was so quiet, like a whisper of leaves, that Link nearly missed it. He ground his teeth and wildly turned his head to look around the endless darkness around him. Another bellow tore through the air as he challenged the speaker to show themself. "A loud one," again came the voice that could have easily been mistaken for the scrape of a branch in the wind. Still, Link's rage kept him from feeling anything close to fear. "What the hell do you want?!" he demanded, though his words were strained due to the sheer pain of keeping himself in the half-sitting position. At this point he was unwilling to lay back down, but still could not stand. "You have died," the voice sounded from directly behind Link's ear and he turned sharply with teeth bared towards it. He finally saw the figure then, if it could even be called that. Black smoke had condensed into the vague shape of an equine with ivory spirals where the eyes would normally be. It was not any demon that Link had met before - and he'd had the unfortunate luck to encounter one. "Your soul is stained beyond repentance," the entity stated with a tone utterly lacking any sort of emotion, "There is only one sentence for this: eternal damnation in Hell."
The shadowed beast stood in silence as the crimson stallion's hateful stare drove through it. "Damnation? You think you know a single fucking thing about damnation?" Link snarled at the creature of smoke, though it didn't so much as flinch. It simply stood there, seemingly staring from its pale, misty eye sockets. Ready to fight despite his condition, Link lunged forward again to try and get his hooves beneath him. Hot pain of something truly wrong shot through his stomach and forced him to stop. He gasped for breath and grimaced hard against the pain and feeling of just wrongness. The feverish heat from before began to consume his body and the darkness of the void flooded in to engulf him yet again.
