Round 2
It has been approximately a day after the first round of battles were completed. The contestants were able to rest overnight, however, they are now feeling the extent of the injuries they received as they awake the next morning. The storm that had threatened the territory yesterday had held off, but today, it rages. Despite it being well into the daytime when the battles take place, the clouds are dark, dimming the earth below. Snow is falling forcefully, beginning to gather upon the ground. Today, all the battles will take place in the same vicinity - in the hilly plains to the south of the Colosseum. With the different sparring matches taking place so close to one another, not only will each individual competitor need to keep an eye on their own specific opponents, but other equines nearby as well.
Please remember that this post serves as the first post of the battle. It is taken as though both your characters are now present, and your following posts will begin the fighting (unlike regular battles where one equine enters and has to wait for the other to arrive). All battles are fought with the rules 3 attacks, 1 dodge, 3 days to reply. There will be no extensions given out, no exception. As these are meant to be shorter, quicker battles, the maximum word count is 800 words. *If the second poster finishes the thread with an attack, the first poster may post OOC to describe the results of said attack prior to judging (still needs to follow the three day rule).
Please ensure you utilize the battle for just like regular battles. ➳ T e c h n o ➳ , you were drawn to post first. You have 3 days from this point to make your first post. Let the battles begin!

The storm that had threatened to ravage the Colosseum the day prior had begun to spill. The flurries of snow obscured his vision slightly as he squared up with his partner. The ground beneath their feet was even slicker the day before. Everything seemed to be against the gladiators today with the terrible weather, and fresh wounds that had barely had enough time to form scabs. Before him stood another paint stallion, a black tovero, who stood slightly taller than him. They had their fair share of scars. Peri was not perturbed by these markers of a warrior. Peri took a steadying breath as he prepared himself for another battle. He would have to be more careful this time around with his injuries in combination with the slippery ground.
Peri began to move. He moved slowly at first as he gingerly stepped on his right foreleg. He gained a bit more speed, but he didn't dare move too quickly because he didn't want to end up on the ground. There were other battles going on around them. In a way, this felt like war. Peri came directly in front of his opponent and skidded to a halt. His front legs and the muscles in his chest burned and protested his movements. Blood had already begun to fall from the wound on his neck from Rianne as he reared up. His front hooves lashed out towards the front of his opponent’s chest. He was aiming to try and strike just below his nape on the front of his chest.
Peri's enamels snapped toward the top of the bronc's head in hopes that he could get a hold of him. This position was not ideal because it left the sensitive parts of his neck vulnerable to attack. Peri felt a jolt of pain shoot through his right foreleg as he came down on the ground near the front of his opponent. It nearly took his breath away as his hooves began to slide in the mud beneath the falling snow. He gritted his teeth to try and keep his composure as he struggled to stay on his feet.

What was he doing here? All this for a mare - not for love, but for leadership. She demanded to see blood and the only blood spilled was Aftershock’s. Humiliating, to lose so quickly, but then, it had been so very long since his last battle. It was worse, to be sure, that Rianne had seen him lose. When the mare had challenged him to battle, he had expected combat versus her alone, on the battleground of her choosing, not a tournament of bloodsport. He had expected a quick battle, not a days-long event. Still, the adrenaline had driven him hard on that first day - he had almost forgotten how good it felt to serve the only purpose he had ever known. And now… well… now the weariness of his long journey was catching up to him, and Stark’s attacks weighed on the painted stallion. Aftershock pushed through the urge to limp, forcing fluidity so as not to broadcast weakness, and prowled onto the new battleground to meet his second opponent.
Where Stark had been taller, this new challenger was nearly Aftershock’s own height, and painted even more dramatically. Aftershock watched him cooly, assessing the thinner stallion’s motions and those injuries that were immediately obvious. In his last battle, he had pulled his punches for the sake of sport. He would not make that mistake again.
Perihelion lunged forward, but his movements were slow, already weakened from his previous battle in a way Aftershock had not expected. Had Perhelion’s last fight been that brutal? The wound to his chest certainly looked as much, but it couldn’t be that little thing alone causing such ragged movement, could it? The tri-coloured stallion sped up as other pairs began to clash all around them, and Aftershock gathered himself for battle. The terrain was too slick for the kind of charge his opponent was taking for granted - even so early into new snowfall, the added ice and moisture would make all but the driest battleground positively miserable.
Perihelion threw his weight back to strike at Shock’s chest and snapped at his head. Aftershock reared, but half-heartedly - his flank stung and his shoulders screamed, but more than saving himself the pain, Shock wanted to get a better look at his opponent. The chest wound was even worse up close, but he couldn’t see anything as bad - for this information, Shock felt the jolt of Peri’s hooves against his chest. A quick toss of his head did not prevent the snap of teeth closing on his jaw.
Not worth it. Idiot.
However, Perihelion was not done giving up information, whether the other stallion knew it or not. With one eye still on his opponent’s movement, Shock caught the way he winced as his hooves hit the ground - the way he favoured one leg.
Weakness. Bingo.
Though his chest muscles groaned with the aches of new bruises and his shoulders protested the pain of the old, he pushed through and lashed out at Perihelion’s face with both forehooves. The other stallion was already slipping in the muddy terrain, struggling against physics and his own injured foreleg - Aftershock wasn’t sure it mattered where his hooves impacted.
All around them, obscured by whirling flurries, battles raged. He had no time to look, no time to ponder the other battles and learn what he could about future opponents. Adrenaline surged through him once again, keen and bright and focused. All that mattered was that moment. All that mattered was blood and victory.
Name: Aftershock Breed: Irish Draught x Georgian Grande Age: 6 Gender: Stallion Height: 16.2hh Alliance: Unallied Health: 85%
Attacks: 1. Attempts to strike Perihelion’s face with one or both forehooves. 2. 3.
Dodge: 1.
Previous Injuries: 1. Bruised, stiff shoulders 2. Shallow gash on his flank.
New Injuries: 1. Badly bruised chest, will cause a limp and could affect breathing, depending on exertion. 2. Torn flesh and bruising along left side of jaw. Painful, but won’t get in the way in most cases, though it could make eating awkward until healed.

TrinitySilph , Techno needed to back out of the tournament due to personal reasons. This means this battle has been forfeited. The winner of this round is Aftershock. As per our Gladiator Tournament Rules: Two rolls for the two hits that would have been made on him: 1. Aftershock rolled a 57. Please describe his first injury as follows as you progress forwards in the tournament: "Perihelion had been aiming for his jugular, however, the Shock was able to pull just out of the way of serious injury. He did not entirely escape her assault, however, and Peri's teeth were able to find purchase just to the side of his intended location. Aftershock now has a large gash to the right side of his throat, which will take much time to heal, and will likely scar. It is very painful to him to move his head to the left as it stretches the right side of his neck and aggravates this injury." 2. Aftershock rolled a 41. Please describe his second injury as follows as your progress forwards in the tournament: "Noticing Aftershock's limp, and how he was favouring his front legs, Peri struck out with a powerful kick with his front limbs. His forceful reach was not strong enough to break bones, but Shock's current bruises will worsen, and he will become particularly stiff in the left shoulder."
