Round 3
Two days into the tournament, and all the contestants are feeling their wounds. It has stopped snowing, but the previous day's storm has left a blanket of the fluffy white stuff coating the ground. This battle is taking place just after sunrise, in the direction of the woods that are found near the Colosseum, but still within the fields before it. There's lots of space to. move around here, but be careful, as the icy snow is very slippery!
Please remember that this post serves as the first post of the battle. It is taken as though both your characters are now present, and your following posts will begin the fighting (unlike regular battles where one equine enters and has to wait for the other to arrive). All battles are fought with the rules 3 attacks, 1 dodge, 3 days to reply. There will be no extensions given out, no exception. As these are meant to be shorter, quicker battles, the maximum word count is 800 words. *If the second poster finishes the thread with an attack, the first poster may post OOC to describe the results of said attack prior to judging (still needs to follow the three day rule).
Please ensure you utilize the battle for just like regular battles. Sunfrost , you were drawn to post first. You have 3 days from this point to make your first post. Let the battles begin!

Rianne strut-slid across the snow towards the battlefield for the third round of matches. The bay mare had triumphed against Legion and ridden that high all the way back to Ittudale yesterday. It had almost been enough to allow her to ignore how sore her whole torso felt. Every motion she made was felt deep within her muscles. The mare would never show weakness and never admit to it, but even she acknowledged that the Gladiator Tournament was taking a toll. Her sleep had been uncomfortable – she had probably only slept at all because of the tiredness that sank into her muscles like an additional weight. It had been difficult to find a comfortable position to sleep in, but sleep had come quickly once she had. She had been pleased to wake that morning to find that her two visible wounds had scabbed over. The bite wound on her neck, two days old, would likely heal just fine if nothing opened it during this fight. The bite mark on her rump was scabbed over and on its way to healing up as well. Rianne silently thanked that her worst injuries – the bruising along both her right and left side – were not easily visible to her opponent. She’d rather her opponent think she had emerged almost unscathed from her previous fights, even though that was very much not true. Victory in a match could be secured psychologically as well as physically, after all.
The snow from the day before had stuck to the ground. She became accustomed to the feel of it as she walked from Ittudale, testing how slippery it was and guessing how best to adapt her movement along the way. Her muscles gradually warmed, the bruises making themselves known as a now-familiar ache. She ignored it, focusing on the path forward instead. Bruises were painful, but they would not stop her from securing victory if she ignored them. Tiredness made her blink more than she ordinarily would have as she walked along. Rianne had not slept as much as she would have liked to as the matches were occurring around sunrise. That was fine, though. Adrenaline sang through her veins, waking her up and making her pain feel more muted. The sun cresting over the trees of the nearby woods would blind her if she wasn’t careful, given how it would glisten off of the snow. Rianne angled her body slightly, head and eyes facing away from the sun, intent to avoid such an outcome.
The light did allow her to assess her opponent, and she liked what she saw. Stark was taller than she was and far more heavily built, speaking to a draft heritage. She was built light and could flit around the snow with likely far more agility and speed than he could. She supposed she would discover how true that statement was in a little bit. A smirk flitted onto her face as she considered the injuries she could see on him. He had a rough looking bite wound in his right shoulder and another bite wound on his chest – obvious weak spots for her to attack if she could. The shoulder in particular looked painful. Rianne wondered if the wound had been reopened during the last battle or had been inflicted entirely during it. Whatever it was, it would likely make Stark’s movement difficult. Would he even be able to dodge if he had to use the muscles of that shoulder? She intended to find out.
The Dark mare wasted no time on pleasantries or quips. This wasn’t Legion or Peri. This was a stranger, and that meant she could get right to business. Gathering herself and ignoring the pain in her torso, Rianne dashed forward. The ground was very slippery, and she intended to use that. As she drew nearer to Stark, she leaned back into her hindquarters, concentrating her weight there and feeling herself beginning to slide over the snow even as it helped her slow down as she neared her target. It was also more controlled than if she had done this accidentally. Rianne reached out with her head toward Stark’s left shoulder, teeth bared. She fully intended to take a nice, big chunk out of that shoulder, especially since she imagined dodging would tax the existing injury on his right shoulder and therefore be especially painful. If she missed, hopefully she would slam into Stark and unbalance him. Ordinarily, she would not have tried this against a horse so much larger than her. However, Rianne hoped that the slippery ground would give her an advantage and make it especially unlikely that he would keep his footing.

This battle has been forfeited due to Stark not being posted in time. The winner of this round is Rianne. As per our Gladiator Tournament Rules: Hit 1- Rianne rolled a 18. Please describe her second injury as follows as your progress forwards in the tournament: Seeing Rianne's scabbed-over injury on her neck, Stark aimed to reopen it, and possibly inflict more damage to the tender muscles beneath. Rianne was able to pull away from this, however Stark was still able to sink his teeth into the flesh at the base of her neck, and above her shoulders towards her withers. He was able to get a good bite in and cause some bleeding. This will sting and be a bit sore, but otherwise cause no serious damage. Hit 2- Rianne rolled a 24. Please describe her second injury as follows as your progress forwards in the tournament: Stark landed a forceful kick with both his hind legs squarely in Rianne's chest. Bruising will occur, but there will be no broken bones or other serious damage.
