Don't Stop Me I like how it feels
The flora had grown still, disturbed only by any slight breeze that passed beside them. The other beings that sheltered themselves in the flora had also grown still. A lone hawk rested upon the boughs over her head, their piercing gold eyes bore right through her. Nemesis found herself mesmerized by the wide eyes of the creature, as well as the predatory pose the bird had struck upon realizing she was staring. Nemesis slowed her breathing, almost as if those eyes were a warning, or if her body could somehow predict the future. With a piercing shriek the hawk dove furiously off the limb, and aimed itself directly for her. Nemesis released her breath, and her muscles tensed quickly, she launched herself out of the hawk's path. Each feather that beat past her ear, she could hear the air rush between each bristle.
Her heart had begun to thrum with violent excitement from this encounter. Nemesis turned her head slowly, her eyes peeled wide with exhilaration. Her purple orbs landed on the splayed, wobbling tail feathers of the hawk as it ascended the crowns of the trees. Nemesis wondered if the hawk had recognized her own predatory nature, or perhaps the fact that she was a walking abomination. She couldn't shake the feeling that this creature somehow wanted her attention though. The way it dove for her, there was something eerily intelligent about that movement. As she watched the hawk continue on, she noticed that it had torn a lock of hair from her mane. A glacial laugh escaped her maw, and a sinister grin slithered across her face.
"That's a challenge little beast." Her voice trembled with anticipation. Nemesis moved swiftly, trailing the skybound predator with a seemingly direct trajectory. In just moments, she was one with the forest around her. Her steady gait did not break, and her gaze only tore from the winged thief to make sure she would not collide with the wooden towers. The breath of the forest attempted to thwart the racing figures, while the rest of the flora bristled around them. With another shriek the hawk ascended higher, breaking the crown of the forest. Nemesis continued her chase into a clearing with tall grasses. The rich earthy toned beast released the lock of hair to plummet through the air. Nemesis watched it, allowing the antics to steal her breath with a gentle cackle.
Upon the ground rested a small figure, their breathing was labored. They couldn't be much younger than she was. The sinister grin slid across her face once more as she peered down at the child. You little bastard, how clever of you. She thought to herself with glee. There was no longer any doubt that this hawk had recognized her predatory nature. Nemesis stalked upon the child quietly, peering down at him from above. His fearful eyes met hers for a fleeting moment. His labored breathing slowed, his lungs exhaling what sounded like a sigh of relief. It's too early for that little one... Nemesis thought as she grinned down at him. Her figurative venom was loaded and ready to infect this poor creature at what he undoubtedly believed would be his savior.
"Oh thank the maker! I thought you were the other beast that was stalking me..." His tiny voice was shrill, and caused her ears to slink backwards. The grin slipped from her face in time with the child's features. Am I really willling to aid another predator? Nemesis stared at the creature quietly, he didn't give her much of anything to respond to. "Oh?" Her voice was strained, as she struggled to keep herself from snarling at the small creature. "And how do you know that I'm not?" Her question was as cold as her voice. The child seemed to contemplate that for a moment, but decided that she was joking and laughed softly. It was almost a nervous laughter that earned another wicked grin to slide over her face. "You're like me. You couldn't possibly be a beast. Let alone a mountain lion." He spoke as though her question was wholly absurd, his naiveté was almost too much.
"We're the same species, almost. But I am a beast worse than even your darkest fears. I am that which lurks in every child's scary story. I am each villain your mother warned you about. Flee before I prove to you just what kind of beast I am." Her words were snarled in a crazed fashion to the child at her feet. The child recoiled at her words, flinching at the hostility she had shown him. His palomino hide shifted quickly, though one of his legs seemed to shift more uselessly. His features were stricken with a new kind of fear, and Nemesis allowed her face to split into a look of pleasure. This is too good to be true. A lost child, afraid, and injured.... Nemesis' thoughts raced with delight as the child tried to scurry away. He whimpered and trembled with fear as he neared the forest. Mucus pooled at his feet from his nares as he stared into the depths of the forest from the edge.
A different kind of snarl ripped from somewhere just in front of the child. Instincts took over, Nemesis felt the anxiety swell inside her. It was replaced quickly with her glacial anger. She had ensured that this child was her prey. That hawk had led her here for one reason or another. The child gasped and fled on unsteady limbs. The feline leaped from the edge of the forest to give chase, and Nemesis pushed herself into a sprint toward the feline. She herself began to shriek in fury toward the mountain lion that had been startled by her sudden descent upon it. Nemesis threw herself toward the beast with a violent excitement, her enamels snapped towards the cat's shoulder. The agonized and furious scream of the mountain lion informed her of her success. Blood poured into her mouth, awakening the beast that she knew thrived deep within. The cat's claws slashed through her flesh, nearly striking the bone of her left shoulder. This pain was met with furious laughter. Nemesis pulled herself up and slammed her daggers toward the cat.
There was another scream and a hiss from the mountain lion when her daggers made contact with it. A deep gash had been sliced across the bridge of the large predator's nose. Liquid pooled near the cat's eyes, their gaze was locked on Nemesis with a great hatred. Nemesis laughed again and began to charge the cat once more. You won't be living too long with that nasty bite little cat. Nemesis cackled at the thought of its demise. This encounter was the perfect depiction of her personality. She was a cold, aloof beast until faced with the opportunity to bring pain or even death. Then she became wholly consumed by bloodlust, overtly psychotic. The cat screamed once again before fleeing deep into the woods, no doubt the bite would soon start to burn.
The child was frozen in fear and awe of her, near the other side ofthe clearing. "Repay your debt to me by devoting your life to Sly. Find her, or I will find you and my bit will aim to break the skin. I will not hesitate to kill you." Nemesis demanded of the child, the palomino colt trembled as he nodded at her. "Good answer." Her frame slide across the ground as though she was nothing but a shadow. "This way." Nemesis commanded the younger child, and the pair set off toward Oiinaze.
