Keres {machines don't bleed that easily} Reference HereThese lands were different than those she was raised in. Lights, Neutrals and Darks. Keres had heard rumors of some kingdoms being ruled as such and found the entire thing to be a bit funny. Lights claiming to be pure of heart only to do dark things to protect those they loved. Darks filled with cruelty to take on aspects from those both Neutral and Light for alliances. It was an odd concept. Allowing yourself to fall into such a grey area of an alliance. To be given a title and expected to act such a way. Stepping out of that box would be to taint your name. Your alliance. It was a foolish way of thinking- one the Kingdom she came from looked down upon. So it was this land that she would finally crossover. A years worth of traveling and a land filled with laughable practices was a sure sign that she would run into no one from her homeland. She needed a new start somewhere new. She would not face those she had served so loyally when they had written her off so easily. From two to fifteen Keres had given the Kingdom everything she had. Nothing but a low grunt in the ranks and working her way up. She was loyal and determined to climb the ranks and prove so many that she was capable of more. She had been promoted over the years until the groups she trained with grew tighter- more close knit. And then she met Astrow and everything seemed to just click. The warrior brute destined to be her mate from the heavens above. So they both served dutifully to the Queen. Going on missions both alone and solo. Astrow climbing ever higher in the ranks until he found himself in the Queen's personal warrior group. A prestigious accomplishment. He was beyond gifted- but Keres was nothing to shy away from herself. She was skilled and served her time. Serving longer than most mares as an agreement with their Queen. At fifteen she would retire and being producing foals to contribute for the royal army. Once retired, trying to get time alone with Astrow was nearly impossible. Keres had retired to the foothills where she finally found herself pregnant. It should have been an automatic stay-home order for Astrow. He should have been assigned to staying with his mate. But the Queen and Astrow were equally selfish in their wants. Astrow wanting to prove himself and his skills- the Queen wanting to find out more info and use him just a bit longer. Eight months. That was as far as she would make it into her pregnancy before being slaughter by the Kingdom's enemies. A death that was avoidable should Astrow have been there. Years Keres waited in the afterlife of the world between. A mixture of emotions had been processed. Sad, angry, betrayed, lonely, etc. Yet she still waited. Waited for the day Astrow would pass so the two could travel to the other side together and start eternity together. Day passed. Weeks passed. Years passed. He never showed. Keres had waited for twenty-two years until a figure with familiar features appeared. So similar to her beloved Astrow, yet different. So Keres had questioned the middle aged colt and got more than enough information. Astrow had fallen in love. Found his mate and had four colts that proved to be talented beyond the average soldier. Keres' name was foreign to the colt. She had never been mentioned and was a no one. You were only supposed to have one mate. One lover if you were so lucky to find them. Yet Astrow could bend the rules and Keres could be so easily forgotten. Astrow had passed many years ago- not long after his mate as he could not handle spending anymore time on this Earth without her. It had been more than enough for Keres to decide this was not where she would pass on. So the sooty bay found herself in this bleak world. The equines she did see were not remotely familiar and their features did not resemble any that belonged to the lineage of where she was from. Keres was not the most approachable equine. At sixteen hands she was slender and honed to be a lethal weapon. Dark mahogany pelt marked with ivory that represented the skeletal system of what would lie on the inside. Ivory tresses braided tightly upon her muscular boa. Features were like stone. Unwavering and showed no sense of warmth or friendliness. She had reverted to the warrior she once was- the one before Astrow had brought the light out in her. Cold and distant with only one wish- to serve. I, Keres, seek passage to the land beyond. I am ready to serve with fierce loyalty in exchange for a home. Her vocals strong as she called into the stagnant air. A light, foreign accent laced her lyrics- but they did not take away from the stonewall appearance she withheld. Hoping, just hoping that her call would be answered or she would be left wondering if there was more she needed to do to make the otherworldly forces appear. I shall accept any task to prove my worth and devotion. Keres chimed in once more. She would not expect a free ride. Could not. Proving herself would be easy enough; surely she was faced with much harder missions in her home Kingdom. ooc; words - 912 tags - fleabittengray TrinitySilph thoughts - This is really rough, but I wanted to get something posted to get her moving towards Utopia. She feared of what may become of Utopia. They may become divided. And was it her fault, for standing up what she believed in? She was their leader. Shouldn't they trust her judgment? Or was she making the wrong judgement? Rasa was feeling particularly nervous about her decision regarding the Versai. She honestly did not see them as fully evil, nor fully good. They were simply just like everyone else caught up in mortal affairs. Allocen had made the wrong decision on leading an attack on Xerxes, but had the Sisters truly meant to kill him - or to "cleanse" and convert him? She had heard of the cleansing process before and while it was brutal, apparently many had gone through it and survived and were even thankful for it (from what she'd been told). Allocen claimed they had not meant to kill Xerxes. They had meant to help him (though that help would be in the way of brutal beatings until he proclaimed himself a Light...). The bay angel sighed heavily as she wandered the dull gray realm of Judgment.
Not long after she began her wanderings of the dreary land did she hear a call. I, Keres, seek passage to the land beyond. I am ready to serve with fierce loyalty in exchange for a home. The voice was feminine and strong. Rasa was curious. She began to walk at a quick pace in the direction of the voice, just as the speaker became vocal once more. I shall accept any task to prove my worth and devotion. Through the swirls of mist, the figure of another equine began to emerge. Rasa nickered kindly at the stranger, giving a kind smile and not allowing herself to think about how she my just screw this all up, too. She pushed the negativity away, tipping her head as a show of respect toward the stranger. "Greetings, Keres. I am Lady Rasa, one of the leaders of Utopia." Her head lifted as she gave a quick glance over the other woman. "Would you be interested in joining the ranks of Heaven, or is the Underworld more your speed?" The question was right to the point but there was no judgment within her tone, the smile never fading from her lips even though she knew that offering the Underworld was just giving them a chance to gain another soul - and thus, become more powerful.

Keres {machines don't bleed that easily} Reference HereKeres stood with the patience of a statue; not bothering to move a muscle or show any signs of boredom or irritation. Although these lands would not leave her waiting long. She was prepared to stand ready for however long it took for another to heed her call. She would prove her patience and calm, unreadable expression should it be a test. But no such thing would need to be put to the test for a silhouette appeared amongst the horizon through the smog. Golden brown optics slithered with a casual ease as they watched the target approach. The vibrating vocals from the approaching equine were warm. Friendly. Welcoming. Keres silently observed the mahogany equine paired with feathered wings as a smile had now spread across the stranger's feminine features. Keres did not return the friendly gesture of a smile. Mustering up the energy to act beyond something she was not was child's play and leading a false facade that she would hate to try and keep up. She was who she was. Take it or leave it. Greeting, Keres. I am Lady Rasa, one of the leaders of Utopia. A name to the face. While Keres did not offer a smile she did allow her own dial to dip in a respectful manner towards the Lady before her. One of the leaders, meaning there were two. Her Kingdom that she served had only one but many others had shared leadership. Would the working relationship between the Lady and her other leader be a good one? Keres had always thought one was better. Two seemed to get awfully messy from her years of watching other kingdoms fall apart. She could feel the gaze roam over her; something Keres didn't flinch at or become self-concious of. She had been studied and sized up her whole life. It was a part of the life. Constantly being studied for a weakness. Constantly being judged before being put to the test. Would you be interested in joining the ranks of Heaven, or is the Underworld more your speed? The mahogany creature asked- all while the smile never faltering on her welcoming features. Heaven or Hell? Hell was never a place Keres had thought she would go. While she had done things in her mortal lifetime- it was the life of a warrior and to protect those she cared for. It was never without cause and never without orders. While my past has evil actions; I'm not cruel at heart and do not believe I would be a good fit for Hell. The words were strong and flowed with a sense of easiness. I lived the life of a warrior and followed the tasks of my Kingdom given by my Queen. I acted to protect the kingdom; not because I wanted to cause ill intentions on other. Keres offered the glimpse of information to Rasa. Surely she had her own warriors. She had to know the life was not always glorious and clean. There could be no Heaven without Hellfire tendencies to protect their true values. Hopefully you can understand such things while I ask for passage to Heaven and not Hell? Her vocals dry while she posed the question to the Lady. Again, her dial dipping slightly to show another sign of respect. She was a warrior and would always be a warrior. Keres was not light and butterflies. She was not the sunshine on a gloomy day and would never cheer another up when they were feeling down. She was fierce and loyal. Her personality long chipped away from the years of being a warrior followed by the abandonment of her mate. Would she be too stale for Heaven though? Would her lack of bubbly personality and warm smile have her turned away? ooc; words - 635 tags - fleabittengray thoughts - Sorry for the wait <3 TEMPLATE BY ELIZA @ Delusional & SP

She noticed that the other mare did not smile when she approached, nor when she greeted her. Rasa did not allow that to deter her, however. This being had most likely just died, and death was typically not easy on someone, especially if they had lived a hard life. Rasa remained with a warm smile in place on her lips even as doubt began to circle through her mind. She would not allow Keres's demeanor to change her own. Perhaps this was just how she was, regardless of dying recently or not. Rasa could have easily plucked the information from the woman's head, as easy as picking berries from a bush, but that was not something she liked to do, typically, unless it was something dire and information was needed ASAP. Instead, Rasa liked to allow others to tell their story in their own words. She felt like she got the true story that way, rather than just watching the scenes play out in their memories. It just made more sense to the bay angel to allow her subjects to speak for themselves and find their own voices. It was important to her, at least. She did not yet know what Nehemiah's views were on such things, but she hoped that he held similar views as her own. Nehemiah was still new to her and it would take time to get used to him, but she hoped that they would work well together. She also hoped that Lateralus would continue to be the beta of Utopia and not want to step down just because they'd had a difference in opinion. Rasa loved Lat dearly and trusted him with everything she had. It would be heartbreaking for him to want to give up on her, but she fully understood why he may want to.
While my past has evil actions; I'm not cruel at heart and do not believe I would be a good fit for Hell. A slight quirk of her brow was given as she tilted her head, ears perking forward to listen to every word the mare was saying. I lived the life of a warrior and followed the tasks of my Kingdom given by my Queen. I acted to protect the kingdom; not because I wanted to cause ill intentions on other. A warrior in life, and it seemed she may be a warrior in death as well. Rasa thought carefully, weighing her options. Utopia could use more strong, hearty angels that weren't afraid to fight fire with fire should the time call for it. Hopefully you can understand such things while I ask for passage to Heaven and not Hell? A nod was given by the leader of Utopia, replying to the mare, "Most everyone has done things they may not be entirely proud of in the sake of protecting those they care for and are sworn to protect." She paused, taking a deep breath, sighing quietly.
"Tell me more of your life, Keres. You say you were a warrior - what were you fighting for?" Still, there was no judgment in the mare's voice, only warmth, and acceptance. Rasa did not want to scare this potential angel away, but she also wanted to know the full story, or as close to it, before giving the maiden a task in order to gain access to Utopia.

Keres {machines don't bleed that easily} Reference HereKeres watched as the mahogany creature before her continued to be warm despite the lack of reciprocation from the one before her. Surely Keres was not the first or last creature to meet with this undead leader that would lack said emotions. Rasa seemed to handle it elegantly and with ease- something Keres made a mental note of. The last thing she would want to get involved in was a leader who was quick to judge and quick to irate. Reacting on such emotions held no purpose in positions of power- despite what many others believed. And as her words fell, they seemed to interest the Lady before her. She waited patiently until Keres was finished speaking- and even responded with a nod of acknowledgement when Keres asked if she could see why she sought out Heaven and not Hell. Most everyone has done things they may not be entirely proud of in the sake of protecting those they care for and are sworn to protect. There was a pause followed by a deep breath and a sigh. Actions that lead to the fact that Rasa too had made those choices. But Keres did not pry for details. She didn't want them truly as it would be a form of small talk that she did not entirely care for. Tell me more of your life, Keres. You say you were a warrior - what were you fighting for?" It was only natural that this leader would want to know more about the sooty bay before her. It was not something Keres was particularly good at doing though- talking about herself. But it was a fair and understanding question that she would do her best to fulfill. I was a warrior from the age of two until fifteen. We fought for many reasons. Those that felt brave to invade our lands. Those we wished to take over and absorb. Those who pushed back against the Queen and her policies that proposed a threat. Two territorial wars. One undercover mission early on. Keres began reciting the reasons she fought. The reasons the Queen had sent her and her unit out. I never questioned her motives... never vocally that is. Keres admitted not knowing if that would land good or bad with the Lady before her. I was raised to serve loyally and that I did. While there are things we fought for that seemed wrong at the time- I never expressed them. It was not my place to question her and I did not want to lead as a bad examples to the others and start an internal uprising. There were others, even higher up than her, that she talked strategy with. A personal warfare council of sorts that Keres was not privy to. Her mate had been but he never let her in on anything from those meetings. He was always surprisingly good at keeping quiet about anything those in lower ranks shouldn't know about. It was a bit of a sour subject that Keres never pushed with him either. Last thing she wanted was to spend her time fighting with him when they already had very little personal time together. A part of her wondered why Rasa wanted to know what Keres fought for. Was she asking to simply judge how cruel at heart she might be? Or was she looking to add to her own mix of warriors? Keres was carved and molded to be a warrior from the beginning. She would not deny such tasks beyond that of why the average member might do to secure their home. She would need to prove herself first. It would be a good option for the two to get a good feel of each other. Or maybe Rasa did not want her for more and Keres would find a life of retirement beyond this drab world. At the age of fifteen I was approved to leave and begin my life as a broodmare to hopefully help supply the herd with more soldiers. Due to the size of our herd we kept many strings in different areas. I was kept in the high foothills where they thought a small herd of us would be safe. We did not have adequate guards and I was too far along in my pregnancy to be of any use when our enemies flooded the lands. My death came before I could bring in new life.[/b] Keres explained the other part of her life that didn't consist of being a warrior. She kept her tone and emotions even. Not hinting at the anger that had long simmered away but was still justifiable. She should not have been alone. Her Queen should have sent her mate back the moment she was confirmed pregnant. He and a few other, qualified candidates should have been there. The Queen she served for so long had failed her. The mate she was loyal to had failed her. But none of that mattered. They moved on and so had she. ooc; words - 841 tags - fleabittengray thoughts - Ahhh I'm terrible! I totally spaced on this!!!! TEMPLATE BY ELIZA @ Delusional & SP

Mortal life was difficult, the threat of death always hanging over your head, but at least the mortals had the Afterlife to go to when things came to an end. In the Afterlife, the only thing that could "kill" them was the Mist. It had taken Cadence right before her very eyes. She feared what had happened to him afterwards, worried if he was alright or not. Would he be back some day? As much as Rasa hated to admit it, feeling like a failure whenever she did, the Lady of Utopia did not think the former Lord would ever be seen or heard from again. So how did she go through her days knowing the Mist could come and take her at any given moment? And how did she do it with a smile? Well... what else was she supposed to do? Cower in fear and never help another soul cross over again? Never contact that mortals again? How ridiculous. She would never abandon Utopia and the mortal realm. She knew what it was like to have no one. To be abandoned and cast aside like she was nothing. She did not want that for anyone else and while she knew it was impossible to take that feeling away from everyone, if she could take it away from just one being... that would be enough.
It was still too early to tell what Keres thought of her upon introduction, but Rasa was pleased to see that the mare at least did not walk away and instead was engaging in conversation. How long had she been dead, she wondered, and where was the mare from? Was she native to Wild Equines or did she come from a place far away, somehow ending up in their portion of the Afterlife? It always was interesting when horses from all walks of life, even outsiders, came to Wild Equines to pass onto eternity. I was a warrior from the age of two until fifteen. We fought for many reasons. Those that felt brave to invade our lands. Those we wished to take over and absorb. Those who pushed back against the Queen and her policies that proposed a threat. Two territorial wars. One undercover mission early on. It would seem them Keres was a fighter for whatever cause she supported. I never questioned her motives... never vocally that is. The angel's ears twitched, perked forward, listening intently to each word. Rasa was not the kind of leader that grew upset and offended when her supporters questions her. In fact, she encouraged it, in a way. She did not want to be a dictator. She wanted Utopians to have a say in what happened within Utopia.
I was raised to serve loyally and that I did. While there are things we fought for that seemed wrong at the time- I never expressed them. It was not my place to question her and I did not want to lead as a bad examples to the others and start an internal uprising. What sort of Queen did not allow constructive criticism? Lady Rasa frowned slightly, a thoughtful look on her face. "I admire your devotion, Keres, though I do want to let it be known from the start that I encourages those that follow me to let it be known if they disagree with me. I try to have open communication with the angels, regardless of what rank they are or how new to Utopia they are. I ask if they think I'm in the wrong to please call me out. It's important to keep the leaders of every faction in check, in my opinion. The power of leadership can get to your head." She thought of her conversation with Lateralus, how he'd explained to her why he'd thought she was wrong about the Versai and in the end, she'd come to admit she agreed with him and was just being biased due to a long friendship with the Sisterhood. She was grateful that the grullo had called her out on it.
Though there was no change in the elder mare as she continued to speak, Rasa sense a hidden rage behind her words as she said, At the age of fifteen I was approved to leave and begin my life as a broodmare to hopefully help supply the herd with more soldiers. Due to the size of our herd we kept many strings in different areas. I was kept in the high foothills where they thought a small herd of us would be safe. We did not have adequate guards and I was too far along in my pregnancy to be of any use when our enemies flooded the lands. My death came before I could bring in new life. Compassion and kindness in her eyes, Rasa lowered her head slightly. "I am sorry for your loss, Keres," she said quietly, taking a moment of silence for the unborn child. After a brief pause, she lifted her head again and gave a slow grin. "I have thought of a task for you, Keres, and should you accept it, upon completion, you will be welcomed into Utopia." Her smile grew a little, feathers of her wings ruffling slightly. "I would like you to go to the Kings and Queens of Wild Equines - a pair for every alliance, Light, Neutral and Dark - and speak with them. I want you to learn something about them and bring back the information to myself and the Lord, Nehemiah. Utopia is trying to build a better relationship with the mortals, and the Royals are a good place to start. You may say you are there on behalf of Utopia. I would like you to give me your personal opinions on each of the ruling pairs."

Keres {machines don't bleed that easily} Reference HereA part of Keres wondered if her overall demeanor was a problem for the mahogany Lady before her. Was she the right type for Utopia? Did Utopia even have a type? While she had spent much time in this world of in-between waiting for her mate to pass over she never explored beyond. Only when she realized he was not coming to spend eternity with her did she travel far away and begin to hear rumors of Utopia and Underworld. A general Heaven and Hell, demons and angles with many other factors involved. Keres was quick to shut down the fact that her demeanor was considered unique in any sense. Her homeland had plenty that were a bit more aloof such as herself. Rasa seemed to have walked the mortal and afterlife realms plenty to know how to deal with many different types. Keres was not her first rodeo and she was foolish to even think as such for how gracefully the Lady navigated the conversation. I admire your devotion, Keres, though I do want to let it be known from the start that I encourages those that follow me to let it be known if they disagree with me. I try to have open communication with the angels, regardless of what rank they are or how new to Utopia they are. I ask if they think I'm in the wrong to please call me out. It's important to keep the leaders of every faction in check, in my opinion. The power of leadership can get to your head. An act that would have had her tried and beheaded in her homeland was welcomed here. Keres merely dipped her ivory cranium and an understand manner- but whether or not she would act on it was still to be seen. Years of training and living with that fear of consequences could not be so easily undone. It would take time to learn those who she hoped to rule over her. To watch and see where the invisible lines were drawn of too far and just enough. There were times it would not be her place to say and that was something that she doubted she would ever be able to overcome. Stepping on leadership's toes was not a place Keres wanted to be and the least likely of attention she would ever seek. When Keres had offered her life story; she watched as the features of the Lady before her softened. She had never thought of her story to be truly sad. It was a bit of reality that came with her herd. A risk that was known but thought would never happen. Something the Queen was lazy about and surely something that never should have happened. The thought of an unborn foal dying was definitely where the heart strings could be pull but Keres had lived with the reality for so long that she almost grew numb to it. Often found herself glad that the Queen would not have gotten what was likely to have been a lethal soldier if it got the best genes from sire and dam. I am sorry for your loss, Keres, Rasa offered the sincere apology before falling silent. She said nothing in return as there was nothing to be said on the matter. Death happened in this world. Perhaps the foal was lucky to not have to experience or be the cause of so much of it. I have thought of a task for you, Keres, and should you accept it, upon completion, you will be welcomed into Utopia. This caught her attention as she let her gaze rest easy on the Lady of Utopia. Audits pricked forward, alert for the task she was to be given. I would like you to go to the Kings and Queens of Wild Equines - a pair for every alliance, Light, Neutral and Dark - and speak with them. I want you to learn something about them and bring back the information to myself and the Lord, Nehemiah. Utopia is trying to build a better relationship with the mortals, and the Royals are a good place to start. You may say you are there on behalf of Utopia. I would like you to give me your personal opinions on each of the ruling pairs. Oh good... a social task. Certainly not her strong suit- which Rasa had to have known given how this conversation itself was going. And letting Keres claim she was sent on behalf of Utopia was risky considering how little Rasa knew. But surely was a test on just how much she could be trusted. What had caused their relationship with the mortals to be strained as is? Enough so that you wanted a new face to do some digging? Keres was more than willing. Anything that could help Utopia. I accept this task and look forward to bringing you, what is hopefully, viable information to help Utopia with the mortals.[/b] Another dip of her skull before her skeletal marked frame retreated a few steps and moved to a full departure. Ready to start her task for Utopia to earn her passage.was loyal to had failed her. But none of that mattered. They moved on and so had she. ooc; words - 862 tags - fleabittengray thoughts - I will get posts up soon for the royal ponies and tag you guys in them <3 TEMPLATE BY ELIZA @ Delusional & SP
