With the amount of time the behemoth had been spending upon the mortal world, it would come as no surprise that there was an abundance of information floating around that he had not been privvy to. So much had been going on, so much that directly involved The Underworld, that directly involved him, that he had not paid much attention. His sights were firmly set on Utopia, on forging strong, worthy alliances due to the fallout of Rasa's negligent actions towards the mortals. On retrieving his brood from their wrongful incarceration and ensuring Nehemiah suffered greatly for it until they were returned to him. Yet, some information, some rumours, had reached his ears that he found particularly interesting.
The light queen had a cambion child, and seemed proud of such a fact. The child was seen by many, described by many. The same light queen who had declined the offer of an alliance with the Underworld when presented with one. Not once, but twice, if his memory served him rightly. It begged the question - who had planted a seed within her that had grown successfully and what did this now mean for the relationship between the Light Kingdom and The Underworld? With alliances forming, the demilitarised zone was shrinking considerably, the safety net growing weaker and weaker for those not held close to the bosom of Xerxes. A demon or a mortal cambion may have created such a concoction but that begged the question as to why? Did Nixi think this would save her or her alliance, by carrying such a burden? Xerxes was not oblivious to the slither of possibility that this strange child may very well be his. Whilst the chances of success were incredibly small, they were not nill. It was an act he had to manifest, usually, a thought that spurred something to change in the cosmos, to make such a pairing successful. And whilst he had not been adverse to bedding the queen, he had no intention of being bound to her.
Xerxes arrived under the guise of night, invisible, undetectable. The moon shone overhead in a cloudless sky, stars bedazzled the world below set against their abyssal backdrop. A truly perfect winters night. The wind that rolled in from the ocean masked the ethereal breeze that announced the arrival of the dead, his transparent entity did not shift the foliage and his knives did not maim the sands beneath his feet. He slipped into the undergrowth of the jungle, moving through the timbers, under vines, stealthily as if he had lived here all his life. Thoughts settled within his grey matter, the what ifs, the possible outcomes that may come from this encounter. What was Nixi's intentions with this child? Did she understand the implications? Would she let him change the babe? What if it was his? If it was, he would have more leverage with the outcome. Their relationship had always been civil, friendly to a point with the help of Akroma. But Akroma was gone, another safety net ripped away. Did Nixi realise that? If the child was his, did she think he would turn a blind eye to the political and personal impact this may have, for them both?
Settling in the depths of the jungle, under a dense canopy that caused the moonlight to dapple the clearing below, Xerxes transformed. Materialising seemingly from thin air itself, the devil stood motionless, ghost-like, within the gloom. There was a strong possibility Nixi was sleeping, given the late hour of his call, but if she wasn't, the reverie would be the same. He sent a vision to her minds eye, a silent summons with his location within her kingdom. A large white snake coiled in her home, hidden in the shadows. She would know it was him because he wanted her to know. Would she bring the child in question? Or would she leave them safely hidden away, safe from the ravenous jaws of the dread lord? Xerxes remained silent, motionless in white, bar the gentle tug of the wind on his tendrils. There was something terrifying about him this night, something set within his burning fire hued gaze that said he was not to be tested. If Nixi was smart, she wouldn't keep him waiting.

In the midst of the night, Queen Nixi was awake. Standing within the cool cave the royals used as their den, she stared out into the moonlight trying to surface through the thick foliage. While she may be wide awake, she stood silently and completely still as young Naida rested at her feet. The ebonite filly was almost a yearling now and was finally becoming less... adventurous. Especially after her run-in with Sly, the Helkaer Commander. Nixi had given her quite a scolding after that, unfortunately having to make her aware of the price on her head at a young age. She still had her spunky innocence to her, but just chose to stay within eyesight of either her mother, her sister Anahita, or the guards. Nixi frowned as she looked down at her youngest daughter at her feet, thinking of the troubles she had already faced and would yet to deal with. The vivid image flashed in her brain for a moment of Naberus returning home slathered in someone else's blood with a smile on his face. Her son had become some sort of cannibal with his mental health decaying already from being left for dead in a caved-in den. Would Naida crack under the pressures of the world as well? Her firstborn had been faced with such hardships, would the next born be one to follow? She looked intensely at the moonlight again as she was filled with uncertainty, looking for some answer in the stars above. All she would receive was silence.
A deep sigh escaped her esophagus as she closed her chocolate optics, seemingly dozing off for a moment. Whether she was actually asleep or not, the moment her eyes closed and her mind quieted, a different kind of vivid image came through. She could see herself standing within the main clearing area of the forest, and she was staring at where the forest became thicker, vines beginning to consume any visible paths. Her gaze seemingly zoomed down one of the paths, staring at all the vines, until one transformed or became a visible white snake. Slowly, it began slithering its way into her home and she occasionally lost track of it as it blended within the copious vines. In her dream, she had a feeling something was trying to reach her. Someone. With the white-scaled snake, it didn't take too long for her to clue into what was going on. No matter how much she became aware of the situation however, it didn't prepare her for the snake appearing in front of her and Nixi startling back awake. She tossed her head and took a step backward while letting an annoyed snort leave her nostrils. Luckily, Naida hadn't budged from her mild startle and so Nixi began to look at her surroundings. Nothing was actually around her, nor anyone standing outside, but something was near. Sniffing the air, she couldn't smell anything out of the ordinary. If somehow she was receiving some sort of vision, only the rivers or the afterlife were known to do that so it could only mean one thing.
With that acknowledgment, she left the safety of her den. Two guards stood on watch outside nodded to her as she passed between them, following what she believed was the path in her vision. Nixi could traverse without significant difficulty throughout even the thickest parts of the rainforest, so the path she currently walked down with overgrown vines was no struggle for her. As she continued, it wasn't long before a ghost-like figure became clearer in front of her. The Underworld Lord stood before her, his burning fire-hued gaze seemingly glaring at her. Had she done something wrong? What warranted such a late-night visit from him? Xerxes. She spoke formally, lightly dipping her dial as a courtesy. Although her height in comparison to him was a dip enough. Lovely night, isn't it? To what might I expect from such a late-night visit?

The moon hung in the glittered abyss, its silver light dousing the earth below like a spotlight, shining upon actors that danced along a stage. Xerxes however, did not dance. Submerged in the inky depths of the shadows cast by the dense jungle canopy, he remained motionless, as if carved from marble, a statue. A homage to a great king, an even greater devil. He did not blink, his ribcage did not flex and cave as air came and went, his skin did not twitch. If it weren't for the shimmer in his burning hell hued optics and the occasional shift of his tresses from the wind, he could have easily been mistaken for a statue. Xerxes remained as such, undetected in the undergrowth as his thoughts churned and battled one another, separating emotion from politics, dividing need from want. There remained so many unknowns about the situation at hand, so many potential outcomes that he knew to a degree, he had to control. For his sake, for the child’s sake. It was no secret her lover, be it past or present, was the son of Trinity. How would he take to a cambion child that may very well be forged from the seed of the greatest threat to him and his family?
If he’d had needed breath, a sigh would have rolled through him, but instead, he merely stewed the notion, allowing it to fester for the time being. Then, from ahead, the muffled sounds of knives upon the sand could be heard, his atlas raising a fraction as his lobes twisted forwards to face whoever approached. It did not take long for the slight physique of the light regent to emerge from behind the emerald wall, her vision alighting upon him, shimmering with the silver light for aid. ‘Xerxes,’ she began, offering him a dip of that finely carved crown as she closed the distance, placing a formal gulf between them. Such a gulf felt almost like an insult, given she had not seemed to mind being underneath him not so long ago. ‘Lovely night, isn't it? To what might I expect from such a late-night visit?’ The behemoth quirked a brow, a small smile curling his lips as he viewed her taking in the midnight hour. Yes, I suppose it is, he mused in response to her observations of the hour at which he had chosen to call.
But he had little time for pleasantries, his caustic attention never leaving her embodiment as she became almost ethereal under the light of the silver sphere above. I have heard rumours, you might say, that the light queen has a child of cambion blood, a silence fell then, his scrutiny piercing even in the gloom, the weight of his insinuation heavy. What can you tell me about that, Nixi? he probed, his nordic tones even, surprisingly light as he gave her the opportunity to confirm if his thoughts were correct - she had successfully bore his child. Or, that his hopes had rung true and the child was either that of a lesser demon or another cambion. In his heart, however black and rotten it may be, he knew the child would be his. There was something within him that felt certain it was. The great beast said no more, allowing the light queen her time to divulge as much, or as little, as she so wished on the matter.

Moonlight illuminated their two bodies, a silver glow around each of them. After dipping her dial and commenting on the time, she watched a smirk form on his facade. She couldn't read his mind but it was fairly obvious he was being snarky from her formal approach. Nixi would never forget that fateful night when she approached Xerxes looking for Naberus, with nothing to offer but her own body. She couldn't offer her alliance and didn't want to offer her soul, so it seemed like the most reasonable approach. Unfortunately, she had been blessed with high fertility rates it would seem and the outcome was very much unwanted. She could have gone to the afterlife and potentially asked to get rid of it, but that was not her belief. Just because the child had come into existence from a mistake Nixi made, didn't mean the child was a mistake. And so, she let nature take its course.
I have heard rumours, you might say, that the light queen has a child of cambion blood, Yup, there it was. The dreadful question. Deafening silence hung in the air, the intensity one could almost feel. What can you tell me about that, Nixi? He didn't sound angry, just seemed to be looking for information. However....it looked as if Nixi had hid the child from him, which was not her intention. Whether she wanted to or not, there were consequences to face. She had laid in his bed, she was the one who had offered herself. Nixi knew it would only be a matter of time before Naida's existence became known anyways. What she wondered though - how had it reached the Underworld? The only one outside of Rain Forest Beach that had seen Naida was Sly....were the Underworld and Helkaer working together now? Nevertheless, she would speak the truth. Their gaze hadn't left each others, her soft chocolate optics staring at his red hues. I'm afraid you know the answer to this.
She didn't really know what to say next. I suppose I should explain myself, but to be quite frank, I don't particularly know where to begin. The buckskin splash Queen paused for a moment before continuing. I knew this day would come. I know my words may not mean much now, way after the fact, but not informing you was one of my ways to hide her from the world I guess. Naida had other plans though, and made herself too known. She recalled the day the midnight filly ran straight up to Sly, the Helkaer Commander. She got a significant scolding after that incident. She was not planned, but was no accident. She's brilliant, Xerxes. And I apologize for not informing you. I believe I feared, and still do fear her being taken from me.

Xerxes held Nixi in his gaze without ire or judgement, those dangerous fiery depths for once appeared mortal, shallow. His line of sight remained honed upon her, attentive more than anything else. The behemoth had briefly scoured all options for this meeting, all avenues momentarily explored before another more pertinent tangent would divert him. Nixi would not ally herself or her kingdom to the Underworld, that much he could be almost certain of. But now, she was bound to him. In one way or another, the foal would forever be a tie to him, to the Underworld. Confirmation to his thoughts came soon enough, the Light queen seeming to steel herself before stating I'm afraid you know the answer to this. His obsidian lips twitched into the faintest line of a smirk, those once shallow eyes suddenly eternal and ablaze once again. Afraid? Perhaps she should be on this occasion. His handsome crown bobbed as a thoughtful yet ominous hum rumbled from within his muscled bosom. I suppose I should explain myself, but to be quite frank, I don't particularly know where to begin, Xerxes remained silent yet attentive, his towering mass relaxed within the jungle. I knew this day would come. I know my words may not mean much now, way after the fact, but not informing you was one of my ways to hide her from the world I guess. Naida had other plans though, and made herself too known…
Naida. What a curious name. Still, Xerxes remained silent, his ivory towers twisted upon his crown to ensnare every word spoken. She was not planned, but was no accident. She's brilliant, Xerxes. And I apologize for not informing you. I believe I feared, and still do fear her being taken from me. The way in which the light regent seemed to explain herself, as if caught in a lie by a parent or worse, almost amused the devil, if it weren't for the complications this situation now brought to them all, Naida included. I've no doubt she's brilliant, he cut in at last, a wry smile curling his inky lips once more. He understood her fears, they were after all well founded, the tensions within the realms of the undead were escalating, and when that volcano finally erupted, which is undoubtedly would do, how well would the mark of the Underworld serve Naida in her home here? Xerxes remained mute for only a moment longer, deliberating all the possibilities. After a pause, and a shiver of a laughter escaped him, his norse tones tumbled free. How do you envision this playing out, Nixi? For Naida, for you, the kingdom… Valfrid? he paused, his hellish gaze dancing over hers for a reaction.
Questions will be asked, no doubt, if they aren't already… What then? he paused, curious to understand the logic behind whatever decisions she had made that he had not been privy to. Was it wrong of him to feel slighted? Cut out of a relationship he was entitled to because of who he was? Would Naida ever truly know who her father was or would Nixi maintain the lie to save her own face? Xerxes stifled the irritation at the situation, diplomacy being required more so than emotions. Flicking his bone stained tendrils against his hocks, the grand King of Hell stood otherwise eerily still, statuesque under the moonlight. He would play along with the lies Nixi may want to form, to an extent, he would endeavour to protect Naida from harm, even if the harm would come to her within these very lands. Xerxes would ensure his lineage and that of the Underworld would remain safe above all, at any cost.

I've no doubt she's brilliant, He cut in and smiled, and it almost surprised Nixi that she didn't hear a significantly malicious tone from Xerxes. I mean, she had slept with him so how terrible could he really be? Suddenly, in the silence, a burst of laughter escaped the devil. How do you envision this playing out, Nixi? For Naida, for you, the kingdom… Valfrid? She was unsure if he meant ill intentions with this comment, but nevertheless, he had a point. It was something that crossed her mind every time she looked at Naida. No one had really pressed her about where Naida had come from, perhaps afraid to know the answer. What would she say on the day someone decides to push her enough to get the right answer? Will she blurt out Xerxes' name, or come up with some childish excuse? Her actions were of her own volition, but that didn't mean they would only reflect back onto her. The Light Queen sleeping with the Lord of Hell was inexcusable in many Light equines' eyes, even if she did tell the truth about how it happened. The chance of losing friends because of a one-time incident scared her more than the devil himself.
The one thing that made her sight flick intensely over to Xerxes was the mention of Valfrid. She could see him waiting for a reaction out of her, and with how quickly she had turned to meet his gaze - the reaction had already been given. There was still salt in that wound, and she could feel herself filling up with anguish. Not many knew of her and Valfrid, and the fact Xerxes did concerned her to say the least. The Versai were still exiled from the Light Kingdom with no attempts at repair as of yet. Questions will be asked, no doubt, if they aren't already… What then? Chocolate optics stopped almost glaring at him and returned to the earth as she pondered what to say. Her options were limited. It has been a very fluid situation. No one has pressed me for information really, except...Sly knows she exists. The look on her face said it strongly enough - she does not want the Light Royals to have access to a Cambion. She paused a moment, thinking of Naida's safety. At this point it didn't seem like she could protect anyone in her family. Would it be better for Naida to go with her father into the depths of hell? No, but...how could she guarantee her safety? Most of my Kingdom would accept that I was desperate for information and help surrounding Naberus' disappearance. There are definitely a bunch that would furiously call me out, I know that for a fact. As for...the Versai - their opinion is of no concern to me. She refused to speak his name as easily as Xerxes had.
At the end of the day, my only real concern is the safety of Naida to me. And Sly has me concerned.

The devil could almost sense her discomfort, a palpable force that seemed to gnaw at her. But where did it stem from? Her choice? Him? The flimsy safety nets that would be put around Naida in a desperate attempt to protect her from the inevitable? As he mentioned the name of Valfrid, her mahogany gaze crashed upon him like a landslide, but no words were spoken. They needn't be, for the weight of her attention upon him was confirmation enough. Xerxes allowed a subtle smirk to curl his inky lips, the urge to bob his atlas in acknowledgement was stifled however. Did she think he didn't know? That he hadn't made it his business to learn the relations of those who had murdered him? That he hadn't already conceived a plan that would ensure they hurt beyond measure when the time was right? Did they all truly think they'd remain unscathed? The mere notion of Valfrid being within touching distance of his child was enough for him to even his attention upon Nixi. However, after a moment, the Light regent gathered herself, gaining some composure before speaking. It has been a very fluid situation. No one has pressed me for information really, except...Sly knows she exists. The look on her face said it strongly enough - she does not want the Light Royals to have access to a Cambion.
Did that complicate things or did it make his life easier? A snort of amusement rolled through his inky nasal passages, his ivory tendrils flicking momentarily at his hocks. And rightly so - he began, his norse tones lingering in the quiet of the night. We are not your kind and visa versa. There was no malice in his words, they were simply matter of fact. It was bad enough that his mother had forced one to be made to prove a point, yet the child of Liberius had seemingly gone to ground. The light alliance had maintained a cordial engagement with the Underworld, but when it came down to it and the gloves were off, he was not oblivious that the lights would cower against the bosom of the Utopians before ever seeking the support of the Underworld. Most of my Kingdom would accept that I was desperate for information and help surrounding Naberus' disappearance. There are definitely a bunch that would furiously call me out, I know that for a fact. As for...the Versai - their opinion is of no concern to me. Xerxes kept his scrutiny neutral, a muscle in his jaw twitching slightly. How odd that Nabreus had been returned and yet she found nothing of worth relating to Everest. Or had she, and had she chosen to keep it to herself? The Versai and their opinion may be of little concern to you, Nixi, but I am under no illusion that the child of Allocen would sooner eradicate my lineage than stand beside it. His words were firm, little room for argument offered. Should your relations with the Versai return to anything more than what they are now, we will have a problem. I will not allow the Versai, Valfrid, to have access to my child. For Naida's safety. Was the last bit a little manipulative? Perhaps. But whilst Sly would keep the child alive, he could not say the same for Valfrid.
At the end of the day, my only real concern is the safety of Naida to me. And Sly has me concerned. Xerxes allowed a thoughtful hum to reverberate from within his chest, his hellish gaze turning towards the shadows of the jungle as a cool breeze rolled across his muscled embodiment. Sly won't stop until Naida is removed from you. And if Sly’s resolve fades, then comes Nemesis and then Harlan. The cycle will continue until they have what they want. He knew he was preaching to the choir, afterall, how many times had Nixi and Sly crossed blades? May I make a suggestion? His attention returned to the light queen once more, a plan formulating in his grey matter although he somehow doubted Nixi would jump at the idea that was brewing in his grey matter. Handing Naida willingly over to the helkaer would be entirely off the table, and he could understand why. Yet to place her under the guard of a different set of royals, a set who had cambions and had not been targeted by the helkaer for such may be Naida's saving grace. If only Nixi could see the merit in it and swallow her pride…

And rightly so - We are not your kind and visa versa. He did not sound malicious in his words, for he was merely stating a point-blank fact. Malicious or not - it stung Nixi. It was a foolish wish of hers to believe some sort of balance could be reached to ensure peace for everyone, and so instead she attempted civility towards everyone. The fact of the matter was she had a daughter who is a cambion, and cambions are part of the Underworld. The depths of hell. While it did not matter to her as Nixi had chosen on her own free will to sleep with the devil resulting in the creation of Naida, her species mattered to everyone else. The Versai and their opinion may be of little concern to you, Nixi, but I am under no illusion that the child of Allocen would sooner eradicate my lineage than stand beside it. Should your relations with the Versai return to anything more than what they are now, we will have a problem. I will not allow the Versai, Valfrid, to have access to my child. For Naida's safety. As the ivory devil spoke, the buckskin Light Queen raised a curious brow while she listened. That was, until she realized he was referring to the fact it was the Versai who killed Xerxes and essentially made him the devil. While Valfrid had no direct involvement in such a situation, it was his mother who helped kill Xerxes. However, it sounded to her that the two of them may have had run-ins that weren't as civil as their current conversation. For Xerxes to sound genuinely concerned for Valfrid's actions and particularly firm in his statement, it made her wonder. She wanted to say Valfrid would never hurt her, but he had already hurt her heart once. She couldn't see him physically harming one of her children, no matter their parents. Would he? Nonetheless, father or not, he would not tell Nixi who to be around. It is up to the Versai to fix their own mistakes, but no matter how they achieve that, the Versai and Light Kingdom's relationship will never return to what it was. Not as long as I am around. You sound genuinely alarmed that Valfrid would cause true harm to Naida if he were to find out who her father was...do you really think he would harm a child? This was a more personal question, as she searched his expressions to gather the truth.
She was about to continue asking questions when Xerxes emitted an almost 'hmmm' reverberation escape. Sly won't stop until Naida is removed from you. And if Sly’s resolve fades, then comes Nemesis and then Harlan. The cycle will continue until they have what they want. May I make a suggestion? Her gaze had not left his while he spoke. Again she tried to read his face, trying to grasp what he would offer. My concern for our daughter's safety does not mean that I fear Sly. It just means I just be prepared at every moment. Suggest away, but know that I may not accept it.

The light queen seemed to be truly engaged in this encounter, something the dread Lord was not entirely anticipating. Was it because they shared a child now and that it was in both hers and Naida's best interest to be engaged? Or had he judged her as he had done so many others? Few seemed to want to listen to him out of fear, albeit well founded, that the devil was a haughty piece of shit, that he didn't listen nor did he care. Truth be told, he did listen, and he did care, perhaps too much than one should in his position. As he spoke of his position on the Versai, there was a moment where it seemed Nixi had forgotten how he had ended up in the position he had, and when realisation dawned, like their own sun soon would, her features changed. Xerxes studied her from the shadows, the moon continuing to send silver light through the canopy that dappled his hide, making him look as though he morphed and shifted in the murk. Do I think Valfrid would harm a child? No. He answered sternly, surmising the versai member in his thoughts. But do I think he would harm a child of mine? I would not put it past him… something akin to a sigh escaped him, a forced action he did not usually find the need to exhibit.
He would not divulge the ins and outs of his relationship with both Allocen and Valfrid unless asked. Time had long passed since he had been slain, since his son had taken actions into his own hands… Should Nixi ask, he would answer, but he need not concern her further without necessity. My concern for our daughter's safety does not mean that I fear Sly. It just means I must be prepared at every moment. Suggest away, but know that I may not accept it. Our daughter. She had acknowledged it, she had allowed him to lay claim to what was as much his as it was hers. A small rumble of amusement escaped him at the mention of fearing Sly. That was what seemed to be a common theme, savage as the helkaer were, they were becoming all too predictable. Which made Xerxes only wonder what they would do to rekindle that fear amongst the masses, for they surely would. It is a suggestion, not a demand, he began with a wry smirk and a wink sent to the light regent. Place her in lands where having a cambion isn't quite so… he paused, that same mischief shimmering in his hellish gaze. …Controversial. I do not know the state of your relationship with Thomasin, but perhaps Naida would be safer there? Still raised by royalty, less heat on you and Naida alike, they already have cambions there so it would not be so outlandish… he trailed off, his muscled shoulders rolling easily beneath his bone hued epithelium. With a flick of his ivory cords, he pulled his gaze back upon Nixi once more. As I said, it is just a suggestion. Should it ever needed to be actioned upon, you would have my support.

Do I think Valfrid would harm a child? No. But do I think he would harm a child of mine? I would not put it past him… The buckskin Queen shared a concerned glance with Xerxes, intrigued by the history with Xerxes and Valfrid. While Xerxes had every absolute right to despise and want an end to all Versai, the message she was getting was that it was Valfrid in return who hated Xerxes. She wanted to ask him the Devil, but it truly seemed a subject that bothered him. Perhaps it would be saved to hear Valfrid's side another day. She watched him smile and wink after she stated Naida was their daughter. As she had said from the very beginning, hiding her was not a method of getting her away from Xerxes, but perhaps the rest of the world. She wasn't naive enough to put complete trust within the devil, but there was enough remorse in his voice to know he would not harm their daughter. As if her life wasn't already incredibly complicated, she had added Naida into the mix. Nevertheless, the little ebonite filly was proving herself with every given day. It is a suggestion, not a demand. He smiled and winked at her, Nixi awkwardly smiling back as if to say 'What the fuck are you laughing at' - in a playful way. Place her in lands where having a cambion isn't quite so… …Controversial. I do not know the state of your relationship with Thomasin, but perhaps Naida would be safer there? Still raised by royalty, less heat on you and Naida alike, they already have cambions there so it would not be so outlandish…
He trailed off as Nixi lost her gaze with him, instead meeting the ground as she pondered such a suggestion. Initial thoughts were to lash out that he would ever suggest giving her daughter to anyone else but her own family, but she knew the logistics he was looking at and he wasn't wrong. Placing her under the protection of someone else...could potentially be the best thing for her daughter, but letting her go wasn't something Nixi would do lightly. That would be an absolute last resort. As I said, it is just a suggestion. Should it ever needed to be actioned upon, you would have my support. A deep sigh escaped her, her chocolate optics still meeting her surroundings. Naida's protection was of more importance than anything, but until the day came that Nixi was proven not to be competent to offer such protection, the cambion princess would stay with her mother. I appreciate the help and suggestions. It wouldn't hurt to have such a plan to resort to, but that is an absolute last resort in my books. I will not allow my own selfishness to jeopardize her safety, but until I cannot offer such protection, she will stay with me. I hope that makes sense.

He could sense the curiosity from within her, the glance she shot his direction did not go unnoticed. Would she seek the side of Valfrid first? To hear his twisted version of events, or should he lay down the truth before the delusional child of Allocen got there first? As if the wave had broken upon them, his scrutiny levelled upon her, holding her gaze intensely, those hellish depths brimming with the truth of the matter. Valfrid has every right to wish my progeny dead. I had sent my first born away to grow into himself when I was King. He endured the wilderness for many a year until upon his return, he learned of what had become of me. Xerxes paused, some sort of emotion brimming in his words yet what it was, what it truly was, was not something that had a name. Ragnar took it upon himself to exact his revenge upon Allocen and forced her to carry his child… Xerxes trailed off, the insinuation of what he meant was plain enough. Ragnar had wanted Allocen to die, he had wanted her to die by forcing the bloodline of Xerxes to continue. He is a cambion and he knew he that would be enough to bring Allocen down, yet I intervened. I don't know if Valfrid knows that I saved his mother, but I know he cannot let go of Ragnar being my son. I am certain he will try to kill him one day… Xerxes half sighed, his tones lingering on boredom. The cycle would continue, should Ragnar fall at the hands of the Versai… Hell then would follow.
Xerxes internalised the thoughts and emotions that came with discussing such intricacies around his life, death and family. He did not wish to divulge such, especially to one already in bed with his enemy, but he too had bedded her and now they were bound. Would she quiz him further? Would she wish to know where his own morals lay with such an attack upon Allocen? He had after all exacted his own revenge upon the buckskin woman, taking her eye and dashing her with scars. Death would be too kind for her and so he wished to merely haunt her everything she caught sight of that ghastly, haggard reflection. And when death came for her, he would intercept her Utopian allies and drag her to the Underworld where she and all the other murderers belong. The conversation shifted to his suggestion at placing Naida in the safety of The Keep, within a land that would not bat an eyelid at a cambion wondering so freely within their boundaries. I appreciate the help and suggestions. It wouldn't hurt to have such a plan to resort to, but that is an absolute last resort in my books. I will not allow my own selfishness to jeopardize her safety, but until I cannot offer such protection, she will stay with me. I hope that makes sense. Xerxes nodded thrice, his crown bobbing silently as his hellish gaze landed upon Nixi. I understand, but I cannot offer her any sort of protection here. For as long as she is in lands not allied to The Underworld, I cannot prevent anyone coming for her. They both knew and understood what he was getting at - to prevent Sly or any other Underworld allies from coming for Naida without reason would undermine their allegiance and his loyalty to them alike. This would be the line they would tread.
I would like to meet her one day, he began, flicking his ivory cords against his fetlocks gently as his hellish gaze savaged the shadows ravenously. Would she allow it? It didn't matter, if she was nor hiding Naida then he should be free to meet her in the future. Does she know who her father is? He queried with ease, his nordic tones tumbling into the cool night air with ease.

Her curiousity had seemed to reach Xerxes' attention enough for him to explain his relationship with Valfrid. He explained that his first born son, Ragnar who had been partially estranged from Xerxes as he grew up, returned to only find the Versai had murdered him. In retaliation, he forced himself on Valfrid's mother, the previous Versai Allocen who then had his child. Not only that, but he was a cambion who infected and nearly killed Allocen in the process. Mentally and physically degrading and torturing her to almost the point of death is what it sounded to Nixi - no wonder Xerxes sensed Valfrid wanted to murder Ragnar. However, it sounded as if Valfrid may have biased hatred towards Xerxes due to not having the full story. It also sounded like Xerxes was bored with an almost repetitive scenario - Versai kill him, his son almost kills a Versai, now a Versai might kill his son...Nixi raised her brows, slightly tilting her dial as she thought 'sheesh.'. While her own family drama was pretty extensive, it was a slight relief that she wasn't the only dysfunctional family out there. Not that Xerxes was dysfunctional, but just that her family wasn't the only one going through significant issues. At the same time, she truly pondered on whether Valfrid would kill someone. The Light Alliance and Light Royals specifically state they do not condone any murder, but the more and more that kept happening to Nixi had her feeling the desires of retaliation and revenge. She understood why other equines acted on these feelings, or even had these feelings in the first place. Even still, to end someone's life just seemed so drastic to her. She couldn't find a reason to justify it - yet.
I understand, but I cannot offer her any sort of protection here. For as long as she is in lands not allied to The Underworld, I cannot prevent anyone coming for her. Nixi understood exactly what he was saying. She wasn't exactly sure of the alliance details between the Underworld and the Helkaer, but something existed and Xerxes couldn't stop them from crossing such a line, regardless of who he was. The only thing was, Sly didn't know who its father was. Even if she did, it would be more of a reason to get Naida away from Nixi and use her as a weapon. Everything to Sly seemed to be either a weapon or useless. Nixi would protect her youngest daughter for as long as she could, and make her aware of the truth soon enough. I would like to meet her one day. Does she know who her father is? He expressed interest in meeting her, Nixi not visibly showing it but was intrigued that he was so interested. One of the reasons she hadn't approached Xerxes was that she expected him not to be genuinely interested. They didn't plan this child, nor did either of them except such a thing to occur, so why would she burden him with a child? Nevertheless, she realized this was a foolish thought of the past. Naida was nearly a yearling now, only recently getting to an age where she could understand the situation she came from. She does not know who her father is - she has never asked. She is very much like he when I was younger - foolishly adventurous. Careless. She is just recently slowing down and becoming aware of how...serious the world is around her. The buckskin splash Queen paused for a moment before continuing. It is sad, to watch a child lose their innocence. She's not there yet - don't get me wrong. But...consequences from actions are becoming more of a reality for her. Realizing she was partially rambling about her, she began to ponder how to go about introducing her father. Xerxes, the alabaster devil who towered over her with spiral horns, a black insane smile on his facade and dragon-like wings. He was...a sight to get accustomed to. A sight that she had gotten accustomed to. She looked at the ground for a moment before speaking. You are more than welcome to meet her...but perhaps another day? Allow me to explain everything to her. For now, she sleeps in my den. You are welcome a sneak peek. If he wanted to linger in and see the beauty in which they created, that was of no problem to her.
