Things were very tense as of late, and with his familial ties on the mend, Cadence decided now was a very good time to stop and visit his son. The Roan angel flew high in the skies over Lyrarcor. The trees and jagged carved ridges of the mountain were truly beautiful this time of year. He hoped that his son would remain safe. Cadence also had a daughter, Isolde, out there somewhere with Sephora. The former lord hadn't seen hide nor hair of either of them in awhile, which was disappointing. He had always been very close with what little family he did have. It was all that much harder having fallen in love with a Mortal while he was a member of the Afterlife.
That wasn't something he'd ever expected. It was about as expected as being taken by the mists. Now he was back, and he wasn't sure why they'd let him go. Cadence shuddered as he came to land in the familiar heart of Lyrarcor. The memories of that dreamlike state in the mists frequently came back to haunt him. More than Spike ever would. That was another member of the AFterlife he'd not seen in a long time. Cadene couldn't say he missed the former lord any. Now they had more in common than ever and he hated it.
He pushed those thoughts from his mind for the time being, because he was heere to visit Hymn. Cadence let out a call in the hopes it would summon his son. Truthfully, Cadence woudl visit with anyone but he just missed his child so much. The call grew quiet soon enough, the echoes fading on the breeze. He was left alone with himself and his thoughts for now. Cadence allowed his wings to relax at his sides, they draped casually and dangled just above the ground. If he stretched them even a little they'd brush the dirt beneath his feet.

You thought these streets were paved in gold, but they're dirty and dark There was a lot going on in Hymn's life right now, but none of it was actually his life. To be honest, most of the events going on right now all had to do with Xovad, his older brother, who was preparing to take on the full rank as Versai Brother. Hymn was proud of his brother, and he wasn't jealous, but he did feel something that he couldn't quite name. Unmotivated, perhaps? He often wondered what purpose he had in life, other than being a Nephilim, son of the former High Priestess and former Lord of Utopia. Speaking of which, he hadn't seen his father in a while. A long, long time. Their relationship was still a bit rocky, after Cadence had disappeared - been taken, rather. Hymn had been so young when it had happened. He'd cried over the loss of his father, mourned him, only to have Cadence show up one day, entering back into his life and the lives of his family. It felt strange, having Cadence around again after mourning him and going through the grieving process. Hymn wasn't sure what he felt just yet about the return of Cadence. Happy, yes, but something else, something more, something else he couldn't name. And just like that, as if Cadence was still Lord and could hear Hymn's thoughts, the familiar call of his father rumbled through the realm of Lyrarcor. Standing by the lake's edge, Hymn lifted his muzzle from the water, droplets falling from his lips, and gazed in the direction the call had come from. He blinked, licking the remnants of water from his lips, and then slowly turned to begin walking in the direction of the angel. He didn't want to leave his father waiting long, but he also didn't know what he wanted to say to him when he ended up face to face with the immortal being once more. However, he forced his features into a relaxed smile before he appeared before Cadence, whinnying quietly as he spotted the angel through the trees, wings relaxed and drooping at his sides slightly. "Hi, Dad," Hymn murmured as he approached, hooves shuffling through fallen pine needles and twigs. He cocked his head to the side, studying the angel a moment, and then let his smile grow a bit. Enough to touch his eyes. After a short amount of time had passed, he heard footfalls approaching him. Cadence noted the movement ahead of him and let his gaze focus on it. Hymn soon filled a space on the horizon. A smile crossed his features as the young stag approached him. HIs hooves fell atop the pine needles that blanketed the ground beneath the canopy of trees they stood beneath. Hymn greeted him, and he couldn't help but smile a bit wider. "Hey Hymn." Cadence murmured softly in response to his son. A flutter of pride filled his chest as he peered at Hymn. He had nothing but endless amounts of love for the youth. Hymn asked him how he was, and for a moment he could forget about everything going on in the world.
"Much better now that I've gotten to see your face." He beamed with a soft chuckle. Cadence hoped that he wouldn't be embarassing Hymn too much with that comment. Part of him wished that being reuinted with Xovad and Allocen had been more like this. The roan angel approached the younger bronc and reached out to embrace him if he was allowed. "I've missed you. How are you doing?" Cadence pulled back and allowed his brown eyes to sweep over his son. He was growing up far faster than he had wished. If it were up to him, he'd spend all his days here in Lyrarcor with Allocen, Hymn, and Xovad. But life was not so simple. The roan stag could wish all his days away and that would never change reality.
So he had to take the little moments where he could. "Are you getting along with your mother and brother? Learning lots of things?" Cadence asked him with that same warm smile that now seemed to be permanently etched onto his face. As always, he wanted to know everything he could about his child. There was no doubt in his mind that Hymn would be getting on with the pair. Allocen was a wonderful mother. It would be easy for anyone to tell how proud Cadence as of Hymn just by looking at him.
His eyes often swam with admiration when he peered at the youth. He truly hoped this encounter would go much better than his reuniting with Xovad. So far it seemed to be, Hymn did not look displeased to see him. Cadence was no longer the Lord so he couldn't tell how Hymn was feeling, he'd simply have to judge him based on his words and behavior.

You thought these streets were paved in gold, but they're dirty and dark It was nice to see his father again, to take a break from patrolling and training just to have a chat with the angel. His love for his father was genuine, even if sometimes he found himself wondering things. Doubting things. Like sometimes he wondered if his parents saw him as just an object, just some pawn in the game of life, and not as an individual with his own thoughts and feelings. He knew it was not true, he knew his family loved him dearly. He figured he was just going through his hormonal and emotional changes as he grew from colt to young stallion. He was just over 2 and a half years old now, but he still had much to learn. "Hey Hymn." Cadence's smile was pure and full of love. Hymn allowed that smile of purity to lighten his own mood, brightening his smile and getting close enough to touch his muzzle affectionately to his father's shoulder. "Much better now that I've gotten to see your face." It was such a goofy, cheesy thing to say but it still got Hymn to chuckle, shaking his head. "Yeah, yeah," he drawled out, corner of his lip lifted in a crooked and somewhat playful grin. "I've missed you. How are you doing?"That was a somewhat loaded question. Things had been a bit hectic in Lyrarcor, with his mom raising Dahlia and preparing Valfrid to rise to the position of Brother in a few short weeks... Hymn had been trying to keep up with his training, patrols, and helping to babysit his younger sister when his older siblings and mother were busy. "I'm alright. Been crazy busy with everything going on. Mom's stepping down soon, so Val's taking over the position soon. Crazy, huh? Almost thought I'd never see the day..." he trailed off with a low chuckle. His mom had always seemed so strong. So permanent. Her retiring reminded him of his own vulnerability and mortality. "What about you? How's things up above?" He'd always been curious about Utopia. He figured he would see it for himself eventually. "Are you getting along with your mother and brother? Learning lots of things?" He nodded, smiling fondly. "We're all good. I've been doing a lot of babysitting while Mom does some more last minute preparations with Val. Dahlia is a darn handful, let me tell you!" But there was fondness as he spoke of his youngest sibling. "Still been trying to keep up with my own training, too. Don't wanna get rusty." He was still fairly early in his training as well. It would do him no good to put a pause on it now, when he had only just begun. "Val's been a little too busy to spar with me recently, though. I figure he's gonna be even more busy when he becomes a full Versai Brother."Tagged: ➳ T e c h n o ➳ w/ Cadence Words: 479 Character: Heaven's Hymn Notes: Sorry for the wait!
