light me up, | FOUR YRS, 15.2 HH, PALOMINO OVERO, BLUE EYES |☽ caely ☾ & BOUDICCA !SET DURING THE CORONATION. things had started to quiet down now, adora noted. others still lingered, but they found themselves amongst their own people. the young mares interaction hadn't gone unnoticed, either; whispers about who, and what, started to hit her audits soon after greeting the queen. adora hated how she hated being noticed, was this not how things went? someone had stopped to chat, and the mare nodded and smiled like it was her duty to do so. "i suppose i am much unaccustomed to the way things are here," she found herself admitting to the stranger, who simply nodded. it didn't take long for her to distance herself from the others, catching fresh air away from prying eyes.
adora looked unto meraki wood, cerulean gaze bright. she liked the way the tree cover provided darkness, and wondered about the expensiveness of it all. the neutral lands seemed favorable to the rest, but she knew they all had their secrets, right? a soft sigh escaped her then, making her way away from the partygoers in an attempt to scope the rest of the wood out on her own. she picked up a slow trot, navigating easily through the woods, something reminiscent of the jungle she grew up in. "that must be it," adora sighed. "i can't escape home, can i?" the mare was rolling her eyes at her own voice as if another was too there to hear her.
the palomino slipped through a small crevice in the foliage, coming to a small open area where the moonlight sprawled over the grounds. hopefulness struck her, smile hanging on her face as she nosedived for the greener grasses that were dipped in dew. adora decided then that she would seek the king and queen once her belly was filled - she was useful. the war around them was raging on, and her skill was useful, and something about meraki told her she wanted to be here. what this wood could offer her and what she could offer its royals was enough.
she only hoped it would stay that way.

[attr="class", boudiccaContainer] [attr="class", boudiccaChild] Boudicca felt a twinge of relief as the line of equines wanting to wish her and Avinash well wishes and give congratulations, had nearly ended. Boudicca greeted and thanked the last few equines, and immediately inhaled and gave a heavy sigh. That had been a lot of talking and interactions. Boudicca needed to moisten her dry throat and revive herself with something eatable. Boudicca excused herself, and strode towards the refreshments. She weaved through the crowd, nodding and cheering with those who greeted her again. The joy and, seemingly, lightened mood was something Boudicca noted. Perhaps more parties would be in order? Boudicca chuckled softly to herself. She looked over her shoulder at Avinash, and smiled. He was much too stressed and within his head to do something like all this more than once.. Boudicca would have to wait until after the dust of war had settled. With that thought, she turned and lowered her muzzle into a tub filled with herbal water and guzzled down several gulps before she lifted her head. She turned her head towards the table with delicious delectables upon it. She moved sideways, her legs crossing over the others, as she positioned herself perfectly to try a few different delectables. After sampling the delectables, Boudicca lifted her head and scanned the crowds, and as her crystalline orbs reached the edge of the forest she caught the second half of a golden colored equine slipping into forest. A single brow rose, before both of them furrowed. She began to move that way but was intercepted by a guard on the same trail. Boudicca smiled as she spoke, ”At ease, keep a watchful eye here, I have this one.” The guard insisted but Boudicca did not budge on the matter. The guard finally turned away and Boudicca moved towards the thicket the palomino had slipped into.[break][break]
As Boudicca began to traverse the forest, she finally caught a glimpse of the golden equine, and from there Boudicca followed at a distance away and as silent as she could. The ferns and low foliage moved against her skin causing a soft brushing sound as it did. But Boudicca did not care too much about the sound, her auds were pricked and her orbs intensely focused. Faintly, Boudicca could hear the mare say something about the forest must be it, and that she could not escape it. Boudicca blinked and her eyes narrowed as she attempted to figure out what this equine was up to. And just as before, the equine suddenly slipped through another thicket and Boudicca lost her for a moment. She snuck quietly through the cool forest until she could peer through the foliage where the equine went. Her nares quivered as she pulled the scent into her nostrils to assess and discover this was a mare, and a familiar one. At least by scent. Boudicca moved her head until she could see the equine that was now head and knee deep in one of the small meadows that was not covered by the treetops. She watched for any movement, and aside from the regular movements of feeding, there seemed to be no other motive. Boudicca moved through the thicket, the sound of leaves and foliage whooshing over her hide was the bugle of her arrival. Boudicca stepped out into the clearing, her dome high as she tucked her head down and her nose to the side. She halted a respectful distance back, and spoke, ”You know.. wandering off into the royal lands during an active war could raise suspicion and conjecture.” Boudicca shook her dome, her gemstone and golden headpiece glimmered in the moonlight while the blue fabric pieces twirled around her jowls. Her chopped mane bounced over her crest like black and white grasses in a meadow. The Queen’s energy was cool, calm, and serious. A bit different than that which was presented at the party. Her eyelids dropped down slightly as her turquoise gaze fixed upon the mare. Her next movement and words would need to be precise and true, for the mahogany and white queen was prepared to defend her lands, even if it was her coronation.

ADORA | 4 YEARS | 15.2 HH | PALOMINO OVERO
as the light crinkle of foliage sweeping to the side sounded in her audits, adora realized she had made a grave mistake trekking out here alone. “you know… wandering off into royal lands during an active war could raise suspicion and conjecture,” a voice sounded, affirming her feeling of wrongdoing. the sun kissed mare stood herself upright, letting the bits of grass fall from her mouth as she remained stark still, neck extended to keep her head low. she was a soldier, after all. the expression on her face was a mixture of concern and understanding, nodding in quiet agreeance. before speaking, she bowed her head. “it was an oversight on my part, your majesty,” adora said. her tone was light in hopes to not condemn herself to such suspicions, but she wouldn’t blame the royal for any concerns she felt toward this stranger in her home.
“meraki is welcoming. it reminds me of home, however good or bad that may be,” the mare found herself saying, a solemn chuckle finding its way up her throat. finding her manners, adora cleared her throat, gaze falling on the neutral queen to admire the embellishments that adorned her. “i mean no harm, and hope that you will welcome my presence here. fear of making more of a fool of myself aside, i am adora of the light alliance.” the palomino relaxed her shoulders just a bit, still keeping the cordial tension along her back. she couldn’t help herself when she spoke next, but this time she masked the earthy undertone of her voice and it was softer. “queenship suits you. i have heard so much, and yet so little. you’re something of an enigma, it seems.”

Boudicca watched through, slightly less than, half opened eyes. Despite her rather intense, almost even accusing, words the mare gazed at the mare before her with a seemingly soft gaze. She watched as the mare seemed to have her skin raise up from their roots as she froze. Her neck was lowered and extended out in a show of possible respect or subservient behavior to acknowledge her, possibly, massive blunder. Boudicca inhaled as she noted her extended neck. That was a good way to show submissiveness, and it was also a good way to leave one’s throat open to attack. Boudicca merely made note, but chose not to speak on it. The golden mare proceeded to nod in agreement with the queen, and Boudicca listened as she spoke, ”It was an oversight on my part, your majesty.” The young mare’s tones were feathery and lighthearted. Boudicca nodded once. Perhaps it was just an oversight, but one could never be so sure. She continued on, ”Meraki is welcoming. It reminds me of home, however good or bad that may be,” Boudicca’s brows raised slightly with curiosity as the mare before her chuckled, and then cleared her throat. Boudicca soon found her gaze as she continued to speak, ”I mean no harm, and hope that you will welcome my presence here. Fear of making more of a fool of myself aside, I am Adora of the light alliance.” Boudicca allowed a genuine smile to form on her lips as the other mare seemed to relax some, and the queen hoped that her smile might have further eased her tension.
"Please, Adora, rise. No need to make yourself smaller in my presence." Boudicca said firmly. She would not have a single equine grovel at her feet, unless it was for mercy for some wickedness that had done to anyone within her kingdom. "I am glad to know you mean no harm, and that you find Meraki welcoming." Boudicca’s raspy, deep voice echoed into the still evening air. There was some silence between them, when Adora spoke once more, "Queenship suits you. I have heard so much, and yet so little. You’re something of an enigma, it seems." The deep mahogany and alabaster splashed mare tilted her head at the comment. "Thank you for the compliment," She said before giving the palomino a quizzical look, "Ah, it seems like trees must talk." Boudicca said with a soft laugh. She supposed that the chatter of her becoming neutral queen had spread through the land, but because she had not said much of her past to anyone, she joked that it must have been the trees listening in. Boudicca exhaled, "An enigma, you say? That does not shock me in the slightest. Believe it or not, I have not been in these lands very long. So I suppose everyone’s curiosity is to be expected when a stranger takes the throne." Boudicca mused. Her gaze softened slightly before she asked, "What brought you to these lands? Or perhaps.. forced you to find this place?" Boudicca’s curiosity might kill a cat one day, but today, it was more out of trying to get to know another, rather than blatant prying.

ADORA | 4 YEARS | 15.2 HH | PALOMINO OVERO
"please, adora, rise. no need to make yourself smaller in my presence." the neutral queen had a soft reproach about her, giving adora the room to relax herself some more. she rolled out her shoulders, head pulling up at a more natural stance. the royals of this land, she noted, were strange in their mannerisms. the dynamic in which adora was seeing between the alliances was much unlike what she'd seen back home. though limited in her experience with the darks, this was ... tamer than what she expected. if brutality was not all the world was made of, why did her people have to fall so short? she would've sighed if it weren't for the fact she was not alone. "i am glad to know you mean no harm, and that you find meraki welcoming," boudicca said. "as am i. i've heard some reaches of this land are far less favorable than others." the golden mare was keen on scoping the place out, but not at the cost of her life so some of the depths would require.
adora couldn't help but let her cerulean gaze shift from the other painted mare to the trees. she understood the joke, a smirk of her own finding it's way to pink lips. "talk they do. not so great at listening, yeah?" the question was genuine. boudicca's laugh was something like music to her ears, and she soon spoke of herself. "believe it or not, i have not been in these lands very long. so i suppose everyone's curiosity is to be expected when a stranger takes the throne." this piqued the palomino's interest, head tilting to the side. adora didn't take long to respond, her own tone remaining soft to match the others. "for what it's worth, there is much to be said about what strength an individual holds to be crowned where it is not a birthright." she offered her own smile, expression loosening to think on the question that boudicca had touched on. her ears swayed a few times, eyes drawn back to the queen's face.
"same as anyone, really. running from the past to heal from the sins of others," adora said after a short pause. "i had no idea there was even a world beyond my home until i was escaping in the dead of night from my own people." for the theatrics, adora shook out her mane, a small grin forming at the corner of her maw. "all my life i was called intelligent - yet my teachings were solely in the hands of monsters." a laugh escaped her again, this time not holding back the sound. her blue eyes met with boudicca's, not a single ounce of sadness on her face, and even she was surprised that it did not feel so heavy to say. adora knew this was vague. as she stood in the depths of meraki with it's queen, she told herself there was all the time in the world to bleed out her past life to boudicca. in the wake of herself, the palomino motioned toward the other mare, eyes dancing with mutual curiosity. "what of you? was wild equines the start of your life, or refuge?"

Boudicca beckoned the younger mare to stand tall before her. Boudicca was beginning to wonder if she would ever become accustomed to others bowing before her. It still felt so strange to watch another lower themselves beneath her. Understandably, there were long-lived customs that she dared not change or challenge, especially in those who had been doing it all their lives. She would grin and thank them always, but she would always ask them to rise after a few moments if she could help it. This golden haired beauty was no different. Boudicca had hoped though, that in her statement the woman would be reminded not just of her place, but that she would be reminded that aside from a title, they were equals. ”As am I.” The words brought Boudicca from her reverie. ”I’ve heard some reaches of this land are far less favorable than others.” Boudicca blinked wondering if the mare meant parts of the neutral kingdom, Meraki, or the wild lands beyond the neutral kingdom’s fingers. Boudicca could not think of one land in the neutral kingdom that was unfavorable, savor maybe the Dark Woods, considering it was still mostly burnt. Boudicca nodded in agreement, whatever the golden mare meant, it was likely as Boudicca suspected. She probably meant the lands in which the dark alliance, or perhaps even the helkaer, resided. Boudicca had yet to explore much of it herself, but it is also possible that not all places were meant to be ventured.
Boudicca’s bright, light teal gaze had shifted to the trees and from the corner of her eye, she watched as the blonde-haired mare matched her gaze and followed it to the trees. ”Talk they do, not so great at listening, yeah?” Boudicca felt an amused grin tug at her kissers as she stole a glance at the younger mare before her orbs turned back to the trees for another moment. "Not many creatures are." Boudicca mused at the younger mare’s words. She was a clever one, Boudicca would give her that. Soon after, Boudicca mentioned she had not been in the lands very long, and when her gaze returned to the mare she noted the sparkle of interest in her eyes. ”For what it’s worth, there is much to be said about what strength an individual holds to be crowned where it is not a birthright.” Boudicca’s smile was matched by that of the other mare after she spoke. Boudicca’s smile grew softer as she blew air out of her nostrils in a chuckle. There was part of her that felt a sense of pride, and then another which felt a pang of guilt which could only ever be remedied by being the Queen the people needed. "Thank you." The deep mahogany and white splashed mare mustered while she waited for the other mare to speak. ”same as anyone, really, running from the past to heal from the sins of others.” She said taking a moment to ponder before she continued, ”I had no idea there was even a world beyond my home until I was escaping in the dead of night from my own people.” Boudicca inhaled a quiet breath and nodded. While Boudicca did not run, but rather walked away, she could understand running from the past to from the wounds inflicted by others. ”All my life I was called intelligent – yet my teachings were solely in the hands of monsters.” Boudicca tilted her head curiously. Monsters, eh? The fierce queen wondered what that might have meant as a laugh erupted from the depths of the mare before her. Boudicca’s brows raised, again, in curiosity. Perhaps the humor was a way to cope. "I believe it is possible to still be intelligent, even if your knowledge is limited or maybe from not trustable sources." Boudicca said, hoping her words brought the other mare some kind of comfort. These kinds of conversations were not Boudicca’s strong suit. In fact, they almost felt uncomfortable. Probably because she had never really had experience talking about this kind of thing. She met the other mare’s sky blue gaze with her own, Caribbean ocean tinted ones. There was curiosity there.”what of you? Was wild equines the start of your life, or refuge?” Boudicca blinked and hummed thoughtfully to herself. "Neither… it was originally to be a pit stop in a journey to find where I belonged.“ Boudicca paused as she thought of what to say next. How in depth should she go with a stranger? "My life had begun long before coming here, but there was always something missing." Boudicca decided to play it safe and match the other mare’s vagueness. "Strange how things work though.. how you end up being right where you were meant to be even if you thought it was not what you wanted." Boudicca mused once more. Her gaze shifted to the night sky above them. At the stars and moon that lit the world up brightly, even at night.
