After walking what felt like up and down over the lands, Atiya had eventually settled into the fact that it would do her good to join an alliance and thus a herd. She had heard about the war, and although it was too late for her to join and do any sort of difference, she could still support what she could, maybe be someones rock to lean on as a friend. Having heard about this specific place, with it being a smaller herd in quite a difficult place, she had decided that she could try here. It felt so similar to her birthplace, which had been next to the sea, always pined by storms and harsh weather. She was used to it and wouldn't mind it, although parts of her had not at all missed the constant smell of dampness in the air, despite this being a different kind of dampness than where she grew up. Her blue roan coat was fluffy with the winter coat, looking mostly black right now, like many of her colour did, and it was warming her. Walking through the trees in what seemed like well-trodded path that seemed to lean towards the center, she watched her steps carefully. These were new lands to her, and she had a constant prick in the back of her head that the trees were watching. Creepy place indeed, but hopefully she'd eventually settle down. If this place wasn't for her, she could always say thank you and ask to try her luck somewhere else. If there was something she wouldn't do, was to force herself to live in a place where she wasn't comfortable, she had done that as a filly and felt choked by it. Calling out, hoping someone living in this place would hear her and answer her, she stopped on the path she was on. "Is someone here? I wish to join the herd, to make my place in somewhere I could possibly call home." Notes; Current winter Tagged; fleabittengraytemplate by faeriiefox

x SANCTIO The harsh environment of Desolate Earth kept many from stumbling upon his home by accident. Usually if someone was coming here, they were coming for a reason. That in mind, when he caught the hint of an unfamiliar scent (nearly lost in the swirling of snow that was beginning yet again), Sanctio was, of course, immediately suspicious. However, just because he was suspicious did not mean that he was going to greet the stranger with immediate hostility. He gave himself a moment to enjoy the warmth of the caverns, knowing that as soon as he stepped out into Desolate Earth he was going to be bombarded with cold, wind, and snow. The flurries were just starting but even snow could become deadly here, in the blink of an eye. It was best to find this stranger and see what they wanted before the weather took a turn. Moving forward, Sanctio's large figure emerged from the mouth of the cave and into the sunlight. He blinked quickly a few times as he walked, adjusting to the light, and did his best to follow the hint of a scent that was being wafted toward him on the breeze. Beneath his large hooves, the snow that already covered Desolate Earth crunched and the ice below cracked. He did not mind the ominous noises, having already memorized where all of the deadly quicksand was. He worried about the stranger stepping into one of these pits, where the mud and muck was so thick and treacherous that, once you began to sink, there was little that could be done to rescue you. That in mind, he walked a little quicker in what he hoped was the general direction of the supposed intruder. It was as he was rounding a corner onto another path that he heard a feminine voice speak. "Is someone here? I wish to join the herd, to make my place in somewhere I could possibly call home." A home? Sanctio grinned, a huff of amusement expelled from his muzzle, followed by a warm whinny to announce himself. Around the corner he came, spotting a maiden much smaller than himself. She was pretty. A grin on his face, the Clydesdale halted a polite distance away and dipped his head. "Hola, amiga. Me llamo Sanctio. Tu nombre?" The Spanish words flowed freely from his lips, warm and friendly. "Welcome to my home. This is Desolate Earth, a part of the Light Kingdom, and aligned with Utopia."faeriiefox w/ Atiya 412 | ProfileSpanish translations all from the internet rofl 9 years, mid-winter, mid-day, snowing Hola, amiga. It didn't take the mare long before she could hear the distant sound of heavy hooves ahead of her, on the path that she had been threading on. A deep whinny left whoever it was, clearly telling her that it had to be a male, who else would have such a deep baritone? She just hoped that it would be the one that she needed, the lead of the herd she had heard about that hung out in these unforgiving lands. She truly hoped that she would be able to make this her home, and the lead at least some sort of... friend. Fate would know that she needed them, at least if she was going to be happy. When a large stallion rounded a corner and appeared ahead of her, speaking a language she did not know. That was, until he switched and spoke the common tongue. That was something she understood, and as he spoke about being the leader of this, of Desolate Earth. Fitting name for a place like this. "Well met, leader. I am Atiya, and I seek a place to call my own, if you will have me. I can not guarantee that this will be the place for me, but I want to give it a try."The much smaller mare looked at the large male, calm and collected, shifting her weight between her legs against the winds that tormeneted this place. Having never been here before, she truly hoped that there was some form of protections somewhere in this place, or this was going to be a very harsh existance. "I am willing to align myself with Light and stand for their cause, I have no interest in the dark side and came to these lands unallianced."Notes; Current winter Tagged; fleabittengray template by faeriiefox

x SANCTIO He did not know who this pretty mare was, but if she was seeking a shelter, a place to call home, then Sanctio was more than willing to provide that for her. Desolate Earth was a harsh environment, yes, but it was also home. He had many memories here, good and bad, and he was wanting to grow his herd, provide a place to sanctuary to any that he could. Just because Desolate Earth wasn't exactly pretty didn't mean the land could not be useful! Sanctio had big plans for his home, plans that were very different from what Underoath had originally wanted Desolate Earth to be. Instead of a prison for Darks, Sanctio wanted this to be a safe space for all. But it was going to take time for that to happen. Hopefully, this would be a step in the right direction. The young maiden seemed friendly enough, upon his approach. The snow swirled around her, giving her an almost ethereal look. Sanctio was all smiles, despite the cold and the wind battering against them. "Well met, leader. I am Atiya, and I seek a place to call my own, if you will have me. I can not guarantee that this will be the place for me, but I want to give it a try." He was quick to nod, chuckling a bit. "Si, si, I would love to have you here - for as long as you would like. Be it a short stay, or forever, Desolate Earth is open to you," Sanctio stated, grinning broadly at her. "I am willing to align myself with Light and stand for their cause, I have no interest in the dark side and came to these lands unallianced." He thought of how Oath had forced so many to change their alliance... or die. "No need to take up an alliance if you do not wish, dear Atiya. Do what feels best, whatever is right for you. I am a former Dark brute, cleansed by the Versai, and now Light and aligned with Utopia. They keep safe my soul, until the day comes for me to pass." He spoke calmly, and then was motioning for the mare to follow him. "Come, Atiya. It is cold and windy out. Let us go to the caves, where it is warmer. You could meet some others in the herd, if you would like. You may stay until the snow and the wind dies down, or you can stay however long you would like. The choice is yours." He winked playfully, turning then to begin leading the way from which he had come. faeriiefox w/ Atiya 437 | ProfileHe thinks she's cute <3 9 years, mid-winter, mid-day, snowing

Listening to the stallions words, her heart warmed at the kindness and openness he displayed. Despite the harshness of Desolate Earth, there was at least a warmth in it's leader it seemed. As he chuckled and welcomed her with open arms, she couldn't help but feel a smile grace her lips at his generosity and open heart. Not many would be this open to a stranger to their lands, but maybe that was why this was called a sanctuary nowadays. "Thank you, Sanctio," she replied, her voice soft but sincere. "Your generosity means more to me than words can express."His reassurance about not needing to align with any particular faction eased some of the tension that had been building within her. Atiya appreciated the freedom to choose her own path, free from the constraints of allegiance forced upon her by others. As Sanctio motioned for her to follow him towards the warmth of the caves, Atiya nodded gratefully, her breath visible in the cold air. The prospect of meeting others in the herd filled her with both excitement and apprehension, especially since she wasn't completely sure that she would stay for long yet. She was however ready to give it a try, and then she'd see if it became permanent or not. "I would be honored to meet the others." She replied, falling into step beside him as they began their journey towards the caves. With each step, Atiya couldn't shake the feeling that each step forward felt warmer and warmer, like the wind didn't bite quite as hard at his side. x SANCTIO Sanctio had not always been of the Light alliance, like he'd said. He'd spent his first several years as a Dark brute, prone to violence. It had not been until meeting Underoath and being convinced to go to the Versai for a cleansing that he turned his back on darkness and instead walked in the light. He was proud of making that choice, as well as sticking with the decision all of this time, but he was not proud of missing all of the darkness that had been in Oath himself. It was only now, as he was made leader of Desolate Earth, that he felt he could make up for his inaction in bringing Oath to justice. "Thank you, Sanctio. Your generosity means more to me than words can express." She spoke in a gentle and sincere tone that had Sanctio smiling kindly at her. The duo began to make their way up an incline toward the caverns that housed the herd of Desolate Earth. The wind howled and snow swirled dangerously around them, but Sanctio seemed confident in the direction he was going. "I would be honored to meet the others." Sanctio nodded, keeping close to Atiya so that he would be able to guide her properly around mud puddles that she would otherwise sink into. "They will love to meet you, too, though Ratty may be deeper in the caverns today. She does not like poor weather like this." The young mare really had quite a fear of water, and while snow was easier to deal with than rain, she did not often come out of the caves during a blizzard, either, for fear of it turning into rain. After several minutes of walking through the snow and the wind, Sanctio quickened his pace and motioned with his muzzle toward the opening of one of the caves. "We are here!" he whinnied, trotting forward the few feet until he was within the mouth of the cave. He went in a few strides before halting and shaking the snowflakes from his pelt. It was warmer in here, away from the wind. faeriiefox w/ Atiya 353 | Profilenotes 9 years, mid-winter, mid-day, snowing

As the snow swirled around them, Atiya followed Sanctio up the incline, her hooves crunching against the icy ground. She listened intently to every sound around them, the whistling wind and the crunch of the snow. Despite the cold, there was a warmth between them, a shared understanding born from their respective journeys. Or at least so it seemed to the mare. "It's a testament to your strength, Sanctio," Atiya said, her voice soft but filled with admiration. "Choosing the path of light is never easy, but here you are, leading with grace and compassion in a land where most do not want to come."As they approached the caverns, Atiya couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation. She glanced at Sanctio, grateful for his guidance through the treacherous terrain. "I'm eager to meet the others," she said, her tone infused with a mix of excitement and curiosity. At Sanctio's mention of Ratty's absence, Atiya nodded understandingly. "I'll keep that in mind for later." she murmured, making a mental note to inquire about Ratty's well-being later. Entering the warmth of the cavern, Atiya's muscles relaxed slightly, and she shook off the snow clinging to her coat. The air was thick with the scent of earth, stone and herd, comforting in its familiarity. "Thank you for welcoming me," she said to Sanctio, her gaze sweeping over their surroundings. "It feels good to be here."Notes; Current winter Tagged; fleabittengray template by faeriiefox

x SANCTIO It was much warmer within the cave away from the relentless wind. This blizzard may last a while, by the looks and sounds of it, but Sanctio was more than willing to allow Atiya a warm, dry place to rest until it passed. It she decided to remain here, and call Desolate Earth home, he would be more than happy to include her in his herd as well. The more the merrier! He was just thinking about which herd members she may get along with best, pondering quietly as he shook himself yet again, lashing his damp tail against his flank. "It's a testament to your strength, Sanctio," He glanced at Atiya, a warm grin on his handsome features. "Choosing the path of light is never easy, but here you are, leading with grace and compassion in a land where most do not want to come." He chuckled, giving himself a good stretch now that he was safe to do so, without fear of being knocked over by the wind. "I like to believe there can always be found some light, even in all the darkness," he answered in his Spanish accented tones. He rolled his shoulders as he straightened up again, shifting his weight from side to side as he gaze toward the back of the cave. There were some tunnels that lead off into different areas, and he could hair the faint shuffling sound of hooves on rock coming nearer. "I'm eager to meet the others," The Clydesdale hummed, motioning toward the tunnel with his muzzle. "You are in luck, then. I hear someone coming." He wondered who it would be. Mariposa, wondering what new guest was here? Samson, curious despite his sadness? Or one of the others? "I'll keep that in mind for later." He glanced back at Atiya, a warm look in his eyes. "I think Ratty would appreciate that. She doesn't have many friends, poor dear. Most don't give her the time she needs, outside of the herd." He frowned then, sighing softly. Ratty had gotten slightly worse since Oath's exile. He was trying his best, but the mare had been inconsolable for several days after finding out what had happened to her father and way. He did not blame her. Ratty had not wanted to let him go, had wanted to go after him. It had taken Sanctio many times of explaining why she couldn't before she finally accepted Underoath's fate. "Thank you for welcoming me, It feels good to be here." The words of his new friend brought him from his thoughts and he smiled, though looked away from Atiya as one of the herd members peeked into the cavern entrance from the tunnel. Young and shy, but curious, Autumn whinnied softly and let her gaze go from Sanctio to Atiya, a questioning gaze as she began to slowly come forward. "Hello," she said, friendly but cautious as she came to stand near the duo who had just entered the cave. "I'm Autumn. Who's this?" She glanced again at Sanction though was quick to give Atiya another warm grin, her ears twitching and listening. She lingered at Sanctio's side, clearly skittish but not unkind. "Hello, Autumn! This is our new friend, Atiya." He motioned toward the mouth of the cave, where snow swirled and obscured all vision of the outside world. "She got caught up in the blizzard.
