x LADY MARMALADE She was very excited about this event. It was going to be something fun that she could talk to about with her mom, Adrenaline, the next time that they saw each other. Though they didn't see each other every single day anymore, like when she'd been a young filly, Mar still liked to make plans to see her mom every now and again. The two of them were close. Sometimes, Mar wished that her father had also been a part of her life, even though he had been a member of the Underworld. Honestly, she had never met a member of the Afterlife - Utopia or Underworld - so she had a rather neutral opinion toward them. Even though she was a Cambion, and clearly marked as one, she did not feel like that made her have to align with the demons. If they wanted her allegiance, they were going to have to work for it, just like any other equine hoping to gain her trust and loyalty would have to. She may be of the Dark alliance, but that did not make her evil, nor did she think all Darks were evil. It was a misconception, a stereotype that, admittedly, some chose not to stray away from. Mar could somewhat understand the appeal of being one of those types of Dark beasts that just did whatever they wanted, but she also did not have the heart for it. She wasn't wicked or cruel, and she certainly wasn't wanting to go around killing others (even if it was literally in her blood to kill). Being born a Cambion made her toxic toward others, and she'd noticed that strangers tended to stay away from her because of the biohazard marking that was clearly displayed upon her left shoulder. It made it harder for her to make friends that were of the same mindset as her, as most of those that tended to approach her wanted to use her to hurt others, especially with the war going on right now, it was not uncommon to be asked if she would be willing to bite someone. Awful, really. She didn't want to just go around biting other horses, thank you very much! She would much rather just be normal. Humming quietly to herself, the tall and muscular mare approached a nearby creek. It was just deep enough to offer a satisfying drink to quench her thirst. She glanced around before halting at the edge of the creek, front hooves nearly in the water, and lowered her muzzle to lap up the liquid. She still kept her ears swiveling to listen for anyone approaching, however. She did not like to be caught off guard. The pallid beast stood at the edge of the clearing, watching the gathering. His phantasmic complexion stark against the red markings that highlighted his features and swirled against the muscular areas of his form. Ashen lips curled down into a frown as he watched equines begin to pair off and began to peruse the clearing. Colorless gaze narrowed as stood waiting for any interest. Several mares had looked his way and yet… none approached. He began to watch more closely, noticing that both stallions and mares approached the opposite gender. His frown deepened for a moment, as he thought of approaching a mare himself and how degrading that must be that you were not the first choice. Suddenly his expression turned neutral and he forced a pleasant smile upon his lips, while thoughts of embarrassment and anger filled his mindscape. Zeitgeist. The warden of hell. The demon governor of the circle of lust. And he did not have a single soul approaching him. He clenched his jaws with fury as he kept his smile up, even if it morphed into something that was just note quite right. Silently he seethed as mares and stallions continued to pair off and he was left without even a glance. He had even hidden his spectacle of antlers that donned his dome in an attempt to bamboozle the mortal femme at the gathering. And yet… he found himself considering allowing the boney formations to make an appearance. He never had an issue getting attention when he arrived in his full, natural demonic form. But here, disguised as a mortal, he was ignored. Something he could not stand. His vanity and grandiosity could not take it. Inky black threads lifted and slapped his hocks as he lurched forward and began to move forward with no particular destination in mind, but perhaps moving around would garner him better results… As he traveled through the, now, very couple-y field he found himself again seeking out the edges of the glade for sanctuary away from the hopefully, possible lovebirds. In his aimless traveling, he found himself headed in the direction of an equine with such a precarious coloration. He had once met one with a similar coloration.. and instantly, in his mind, he found himself instantly remembering the name of the equine. Belial. His intention changed in that moment, and his auds flicked forward as he moved closer to the other equine. His steps were quiet.. perhaps from the sound of all the other equines moving through the grass at once or that his form truly was not for this world, he approached at a near silence. As the deceitful demon edged closer, he slowed to a halt standing a few strides behind the equine. He stared as they seemed to be blissfully unaware, sipping up the water before them while the world went on around them. He blinked those soulless chasms suck in his orbital holes while his auds simply swiveled back, but not pressed back to take on the appearance of a hellish heathan. The expression turned neutral, to one of unreadability, as his kissers parted as he began to speak in a deep, Irish brogue, ”You are the last I expected to see here, Belial.” His tones were almost mocking as he arched his neck high upon his shouldrs and hooked his head down towards his chest. His intense gaze watching and waiting, burning a hole in the back of the equine before him whom he believed to be the dark guard of the royal family. While waiting, nearly impatiently, he had yet to notice there was no boney mask upon the skull of the equine before him… oh how wrong was he? words;; 619 timeline;; Single Mingles Event character;; Zeitgeist tag;; fleabittengray with Lady Marmalade notes;; lol whoopsie daisy on zeit's part xD talk

x LADY MARMALADE The water from the creek was nice. She had her eyes closed as she drank her fill, and once she had finished drinking as the moments passed by, she batted open her lashes and gazed down at the slow moving water. She could just barely make out some semblance of her reflection, distorted by ripples on the water's surface, but nevertheless she smiled down at it. She kept her lips lowered toward the water, but was no longer drinking. Her ears twitched, listening around her, though she didn't hear anything of interest going on around her at the moment. No one else seemed to be paying any attention to her, after her conversation with the mare a short while ago. She sighed, a slow exhale of breath that caused even more ripples to ghost across the clear surface of the creek, and it was as she began to lift her head that she became aware that she was no longer alone. Her skin prickled, feeling eyes on her, but before she could turn to see who it was that had suddenly approached her, quiet as a mouse, they spoke. ”You are the last I expected to see here, Belial.” The accented voice was entirely unfamiliar, as was the name that they spoke. That being the case, Lady Marmalade didn't look at them right away, instead looking left and right, to see if another equine aside from the one behind her was nearby. Finding no one, she figured this fellow must just think she was someone else. Turning slowly, the pretty young maiden met the intense stare of the stranger with a polite smile. "Hi!" she chirped cheerfully in greeting, though something about this stranger gave her the creeps. Regardless, she was going to treat him like any other stranger she met here in the Free Lands: with cautious respect. You never knew who you were talking to, after all. "I think you have me confused with someone else. I'm Lady Marmalade! Most just call me Mar. I don't know anyone by the name of Belial."☽ caely ☾ w/ Zeitgeist 345 | ProfileI am so entertained LMAO 2 years 6 months, second thread of Singles Mingle 2024

Zeitgeist waited impatiently watching the backside of, whom he assumed to be, Belial. What was taking the multi-colored stallion so long to acknowledge him? The silvery demon knew he had held some kind of rank, commander or head guard, in the dark lands. It was common knowledge, at least for him with the war and all. He figured all the demons were privy to such information considering the darks were allied with Hell. But what possessed the beast to take so long? Zeitgeist could feel the familiar irritation of being ignored resurfacing as the moments trickled by. His auds began to slide back upon his chiseled dome and his eyes narrowed, as his mind contemplated the choice words he would have for the gold, black, and white stallion when he finally decided to turn away from whatever was so riveting in the edge of the water. More moments, that turned into minutes which felt like hours, passed and Zeitgeist found himself growing in contempt for the stallion. Disrespectful he was to keep the hellion waiting for a greeting. Zeitgeist slapped his hocks with his ebony threads and arched his neck in preparation to appear more intimidating to the dark stallion. How dare he not turn on his heels and acknowledge the white ghost at such an event. His auds tilted back a bit more and he sharply inhaled, preparing himself to address the other stallion again but with much less amiability. He thought about the information he was aware of how he could possibly twist it into something more than may wound the beast, or at the very least make him feel guilty and shameful, for such a huge indiscretion. At least it was huge in Zeitgeist’s mind. That was when the dome of the annoying Belial finally rose and seemed to look left and right. Still, the hellion had not noticed a very important piece that was missing. Truthfully, Zeitgeist had only met Belial once and it had been in the middle of the night. So, it was entirely possible that Zeitgeist’s memory of him was not entirely accurate, but the familiar coloration was undeniable.. until the equine turned, and rather slowly at that. Zeitgeist jaws, which had loosened with anticipation of saying something scurrilous, found themselves clenching as the face of the other equine was very much a complete stranger and not Belial whatsoever. On the contrary, the face was so obviously feminine, that Zeitgeist felt a pang of embarrassment for not recognizing that this equine was a mare. ”Hi!” His auds twitched at the assaultive peep from the mare before him as she greeted him in such a lively way. Truthfully, he was still in shock from his absolute social blunder that his brain did not have time to offer up a nature scowl in response to such a irksome sound, that his face luckily remained indifferent. ”I think you have me confused with someone else. I’m Lady Marmalade! Most just call me Mar. I don’t know anyone by the name of Belial.” Zeitgeist stared, unblinking, as he took in her words and processed the situation. The irritation that had been building, but he had another choice. And that choice could lead to better outcomes. He blinked, which allowed his eyes to soften, while as a charming smile formed on his lips. Zeitgeist cleared his throat and then began take on the charming gentleman persona he had so carefully cultivated over the years. ”Forgive me, Lady Mar.” He began, his Irish brogue was deep and rich like a dark clover honey. While he would not lay it on too thick, as he wanted to be preceived as genuinely as possible, he did combine her full name with her nickname in respectful, and almost endearing, way. ”Belial was an.. old friend. I am Zeitgeist. I apologize for my mix up. It is just that you carry a similar coat pattern as he does. However, I must admit, you wear it much better than he does.” He introduced himself without his lengthy titles, which felt wrong, but it would have to be done in order for him to trick a mortal. Afterall, who would want to spend the afternoon with the second in command of Hell? Probably no sane mortal. The end of his words carried an actual, genuine commendation on her appearance. Quickly though, he knew he could not allow that comment to linger in the open for too long without the possibility of making the lady feel uncomfortable. Though, he could not imagine why anyone would feel uncomfortable by a compliment from he himself. He was a catch and he knew he was dashing, or perhaps his inflated grandiosity was unfounded, but he would continue to use his vanity for what gain it could bless him with. ”So, Lady Mar,” He started once more before continuing on in the very same breath. ”What brings you to this event on this beautiful spring day? Dreams of truly love, perhaps?” He questioned her, with his second question being benevolent teasing. He wondered if she would see through his acting or if she would be blissfully charmed by the beast. In time, the answers would likely reveal themselves, but until then he stood waiting on the mare before him to response, all the while keeping a soft smile upon his charcoal kissers and his eyes remained soft. Hopefully, she would fall for his bewitchments. Just then he had a thought, and a boyish grin formed on his face. ”If it is the latter, do you believe in true love at first site?” He asked precariously, allowed some silence to fall between them as his grin grew to incorporate his softened eyes into his large display as he prepared to speak once more, ”Or should I walk back up to you again?” He asked, his words followed by a lighthearted chuckle. Within, the beast screamed in protest to the embarrassment of acting in such a way. It was so unlike him, but he had to keep up the charade he created now. trickled by. His auds began to slide back upon his chiseled dome and his eyes narrowed, as his mind contemplated the choice words he would have for the gold, black, and white stallion when he finally decided to turn away from whatever was so riveting in the edge of the water. x LADY MARMALADE The man that had approached her at first seemed more on the aggressive and agitated side. When she'd first turned, his ears were pinned and he looked ready to verbally confront her about something - probably because, at the time, he believed her to be someone else. Someone named Belial, who was an unfamiliar entity entirely to the young Cambion. Her mother, from what she understood, did not know anyone named Belial, either, or at least had never mentioned him by name. However, despite the initial look on the stranger's face as she turned toward him, Mar remained with a grin on her face, polite and warm and inviting, even if she was slightly wary about the large beast. He was ivory, with red painted designs upon his hide. Undeniably handsome, with a foreign accent that had her feeling all the more intrigued. At least his eyes and expression softened, seeming to have realized his mistaking her identity. That had to count for something, right? Though he said nothing in return to her introduction at first, Mar's head cocked to the side curiously, she did not say anything more, giving him time to process his mistake. The smile that appeared upon his lips seemed genuine and charismatic. Mar's own smile grew, stretching across her lips as she shifted her weight from hoof to hoof. ”Forgive me, Lady Mar.” Ohh, a gentleman, too? How lucky she was, though he mother had always warned her of the men that spoke in such a gentlemanly manner. They weren't always so pure of heart as they seemed. ”Belial was an.. old friend. I am Zeitgeist. I apologize for my mix up. It is just that you carry a similar coat pattern as he does. However, I must admit, you wear it much better than he does.” He complimented her looks and the youth giggled, arching her neck and batting her eyelashes in a playful and flirtatious manner. "Ohh, a lady's man, are we?" she teased, giving a flick of her tail as her weight shifted on her hooves again, resting the back left one on its tip - a sign that she was relaxed and at ease, even sandwiched between the creek and Zeitgeist, which could potentially pose trouble for her. There was no quick escape route, which she was very aware of, but she was hoping that by remaining calm and polite, even playful, there would be no need for an escape route. ”So, Lady Mar, What brings you to this event on this beautiful spring day? Dreams of truly love, perhaps?” Mar quirked a brow, huffing out a soft laugh and giving her shoulders, the left of which was marked with the brand of a Cambion, a casual shrug. She did her best to angle her body so that, for the moment, the Cambion marking wasn't one of the first things this man would notice about her and ruin this whole meeting between them. ”If it is the latter, do you believe in true love at first site?” She was nearly about to respond, when Zeitgeist spoke again, saying the cheesiest thing she'd ever heard in her damn life. ”Or should I walk back up to you again?” He chuckled and Mar joined him with a giggle of her own, shaking her head. Meeting the other equine's eyes, Mar responded, "Any chance you have an extra heart? Mine’s been stolen!"Still giggling, she perked her ears forward, tail flicking behind her as she observed the man that had approached her. He was big, strong, handsome - what was the catch? There had to be something, right? "I honestly was just looking for something to do and others to meet, which is why I decided to partake in this event. I thought it would be fun! What about you? Did the dream of true love bring you here?" she teased lightly, though she was truly curious. ☽ caely ☾ w/ Zeitgeist 653 | ProfileShe is amused, but wary~ 2 years 6 months, second thread of Singles Mingle 2024 Bonuses: - character uses a cheesy pick up line

Zeitgeist inhaled as he had contemplated what to do in the very moment when he discovered that the lass was not Belial.. that persnickety fucker. He could not lie and say he did not feel some kind of embarrassment, but the beast would not be so open as to show it. However, the mare seemed pleasant enough. The grin she had offered in the first place remained upon her kissers, and he read it as polite and interested in him as he stood with some indifference as he decided what to do. However, once he made his fateful decision, he leaned into his charming appeal. His lips formed an enchanting smile, and appeared just as convincing for the smile that had formed on Lady Mar’s maw grew large. She shifted her weight, and he stood stone still. He stood erect and proper, but still he had a relaxed aura around him. Why would he need to be on edge? Sure, he could be hurt by a mortal, but the rest of the mortals in this meadow were far too preoccupied to pay attention to him. And, as far as he could tell, the scent of brimstone and fire had either gone undetected, or he had been successful in keeping it at bay. He had, after all, spent more time in the mortal realm prior to this little gathering, and perhaps that was the key to remaining undetected. However, it could have also been that this young mare had not encountered a demon yet and was unaware of the scent that seemed to permanently stick on them. Either way, he would not bring attention to it. He spoke again with attempts to flatter the lady, and it appeared to work, for her giggle that rang from her throat was enough evidence for him to exhale and relax ever so slightly. He watched as she arched her neck and batted her thick, feminine eyelashes in his direction. Her amused laugh was very youthful, he could tell just by the tone, and the way she batted her eyes… she was undoubtedly young. But how young? He could not be sure. Not that it would matter much, as he was not exactly the one to have morals and guidelines about who he wooed. His smile faltered for a moment, but regained it’s strength soon after, ”Ohh, a lady’s man, are we?” She joshed in a coquettish manner, which caused his charming smile to morph into that of an amused, haughty grin. He reflected upon her words.. a lady’s man? It depended on his mood and the situation entirely. The poltergeist thought back to several of the women he had convinced to sleep with him. Some he did not need to convince much at all, such as the dark queen. Two raggmuffin cambions resulted from the interloping he had done with Thomasin. However, he had been as charming, if not more so, than he was being now to bed that one. He was quite fond of the wild, witch woman. Then there was Lehava, whom he had caught while in a mood, and when… it had resulted in his two sons, Zeugma and Zagan, but the means to their conception was filled with nothing but cruelty and coldness. He blinked his monochromatic orbs as an amused chuckle rattled in his chest and escaped his lips, as a deep and slow booming sound. ”Something like that… I suppose.” He said with mirth, though there was something sinister lurking just beyond that superficial charm. Though, he would not show it until he deemed it necessary. For now, he would be gentlemanly and as charming as he could be to gain what he desired… cambions, of course. As he spoke of the weather and what she had been searching for, she quirked a quizzical brow and breathily laughed, her shoulders shrugged. Still, he did not take his eyes of the woman’s expression and, at the moment, completely missed the cambion mark upon her shoulder. Incidentally, she also moved so that the mark could not be seen even if he had been looking. Perhaps they had more in common than originally thought. Both hiding dangerous and devious secrets on the tips of tongues. He spoke once more, delivering a rustical line to make her laugh or amuse her. He chuckled to lighten the mood and Lady Mar followed suit. She shook her head as if in disbelief, perhaps, or, maybe, she was already fed up with his antics. She began to speak and his auds pricked up to listen intently to her reaction of such a lame bid for flattery, ”Any chance you have an extra heart? Mine’s been stolen!” He chuckled at her words. Childish, but at least she was a good sport and seemed to enjoy banter. ”I do not, but I can lend you mine,” He started as he furrowed his brows together sincerely for a moment, ”So long as you do not give it to another. He said playfully, with a pouting gaze, before his expression shifted and he laughed. He settled and watched her as she giggled. He was glad to turn the attention back to her because the words that escaped his lips tasted foul and, if he had the ability to throw up, he most certainly would have at himself. ”I honestly was just looking for something to do and others to meet, which is why I decided to partake in this event. I thought it would be fun! What about you? Did the dream of true love bring you here?” The look on her face gave him the impression that she was buying what he was selling, almost entirely, if not all of it. He inhaled and exhaled a few times as he collected himself, and to build some suspense between the two. She seemed to be eating from his palm, and he did not want to move too quickly and scare off the little bird. Least not before he could trap her and swallow her in one bite. Best to enjoy the view while he could. ”Similar reasons I suppose. I do find myself rather lonely as a stallion on my own. So, like yourself, I thought it might be worth the try of meeting others.” He said with a certain gentility within his rich, Irish brogue. He paused for a moment to consider the dream of true love. ”True love? I am not so sure I would find it here, but one does never know.. I guess I tend to shy away from such feelings… would not want to be hurt again..” He trailed off. His words were partially honest. Did the beast believe he was capable of love? No. Did he shy from it? Partially yes. He loved to be loved, but he did not know how to love back. In most cases, he did not care, but he had noticed that, in death, he had found himself growing softer in places that had previously been cold and merciless before. However, he had never truly been hurt in the context of love. He had never known it, personally, but he had seen its effects in the lives he had taken and the families he had shredded apart. Why not use it to draw her in further..? ”What of you, sweet Lady Mar? Have you ever been in love?” He questioned innocently. He was curious.. but perhaps it could be to his advantage. words;; 1250 timeline;; Single Mingles Event character;; Zeitgeist tag;; fleabittengray with Lady Marmalade notes;; let's see how long he can keep up with his charade xD BONUS:- Post over 1000 words - talk

x LADY MARMALADE The stallion that had approached her seemed like quite a gentleman so far, but something felt off about the meeting. She couldn't quite figure it out, why Zeitgeist made her naturally feel so uneasy when he had done nothing as of yet to validate the uneasy feeling, but she was so sure that something about him just wasn't right. Having no experience with either Utopia nor Underworld, she did not recognize the supernatural aura to the brute, nor did she recognize the faint scent of sulfur that clung to him. She figured it was just... what he smelled like. In fact, she wasn't even sure it was him the smell was coming from! She hadn't been really paying attention to anyone or anything before he'd approached her. Maybe it had been around her, in the air, and she just hadn't noticed until now because she was subtly on edge, managing to keep a relaxed body language and a smile on her face despite the puzzling dilemma she was now faced with. Should she continue to talk to him, despite her instinct telling her to run? It was very unlike her, too, to want to flee from someone without seemingly any reason. She was like her mother in that regard. Brave to the point of recklessness at times. Not quite cocky, but her confidence was bound to get her into trouble at one point or another. How old was this guy, anyway? She was barely more than two and a half, and here this guy was, well into his prime, talking to and flirting with her. Surely that ought to be a red flag, right? Or was she just looking for reasons to feel uncomfortable, to give validity to her gut instinct that this guy was no good? All these thoughts spiraled inside her head but she gave no hint of her inner turmoil. She figured it would be best to just pretend she wasn't feeling unsettled. Better safe than sorry, right? As the stallion chuckled, Mar waited, feeling her gut twisting and turning, her instinct screaming at her to run already, but she stayed put. ”Something like that… I suppose.” The young maiden smirked, playful, and stated, "Lucky me, then... I suppose." Her words were teasing, tough she wondered just who she was teasing. He hadn't given her much information on himself. Then again, he didn't know who she was, either. Not that she knew of... And now she was wondering if he was a sort of stalker or something. Maybe she had seen him around the Free Lands without realizing, and her subconscious recognized him and was raising red flags. That would be a predicament, now, wouldn't it? Did he know she was a Cambion, she wondered? She hadn't noticed him glancing at her shoulder, which she was doing her best to keep angled away from him for now, but if he'd been stalker her... maybe he already had seen it. Already knew what she was. Could he be an enemy of the Underworld, hoping to rid the world of every last Cambion? Or maybe it was the opposite. Maybe he liked Cambions and wanted to make more of them... An ear twitched slightly at the thought. She was no stranger to a bit of intimacy with her fellow equines, but it was usually with others her age. Just... experimenting. Not trying to procreate! She was still so young! ”I do not, but I can lend you mine,” Yet despite her worrying thoughts, Mar snickered. ”So long as you do not give it to another." She gave a dreamy sigh, giving her head a slight bow. "Oh, of course. I wouldn't dream of giving such a gift to anyone else!" Hell, he was handsome, and even if he was trouble... would a bit of playful flirting really be so bad? If anything, maybe it would keep her out of trouble. If he truly was a bad guy wanting to cause her harm, maybe it would be best to just pretend she had no bad intuitions about him. She would continue to play along for now until she was given a reason not to. ”Similar reasons I suppose. I do find myself rather lonely as a stallion on my own. So, like yourself, I thought it might be worth the try of meeting others.” His explanation was also relatively normal... but was it too normal? Was he hiding something? Why did she feel so suspicious of him? ”True love? I am not so sure I would find it here, but one does never know.. I guess I tend to shy away from such feelings… would not want to be hurt again..”Ohh, there had to be a story behind that. She debated asking him about it, but stopped herself short. Probably would be for the best not to go prying into his past. "I'm sorry you've been hurt before. You seem like a good guy!" She gave a bit of a crooked and awkward smile, hoping that Zeitgeist didn't try to use such words to his advantage. ”What of you, sweet Lady Mar? Have you ever been in love?” To that, that chimeric minx snorted, and then laughed, shaking her head with amusement. "Me? Oh, no. I'm not sure love is for me, honestly. At least, not yet. I'm still so young! I've got my whole life ahead of me! Two years isn't even long enough to know myself yet, let alone a whole other being, to know if I want to spend the rest of my life with them!" Had she been human, she would have blushed, realizing she had just given away her own age without meaning to. "I guess I'm just not one of those girls that grew up dreaming of being a helpless princess that falls in love with a knight or something silly like that, ya know?" Okay, she should really stop talking now, before she made an even bigger fool out of herself. ☽ caely ☾ w/ Zeitgeist 999 | Profilenotes 2 years 6 months, second thread of Singles Mingle 2024 Bonuses: - xxx

The white hellion watched her carefully with a soft, milky gaze. The longer he stayed in her presence, the strangeness of the situation unfolded in his mind. She seemed relaxed and unconcerned. The smell of sulfur would not be staved off for much longer at this point if she could not smell it already, and yet, she appeared unphased. For a moment, he had to fight not to allow a unearthly, deranged grin to form on his lips. She was falling for his oscar worthy performance, and the satisfaction was almost too strong to hide. His smile curled up slightly, even more pleasant seeming, but inside his inner voice cackled like a giant reptile, purring with pleasure at the thought of such a charade being undiscovered. The beast’s pleasant, enthusiastic smile was returned with a smirk, ”Lucky me, then.. I suppose.” she said in a playful, teasing tone. He chuckled breathily at her words but chose not to same much more. That was about the time Zeitgeist could feel a strange feeling come over him. His heart pitter pattered annoyingly in the cavity of his chest. His skin crawled and his nares flared with a sudden inhalation of oxygen. He rolled his shoulders back and then forward while he moved his neck from side to side in an attempt to escape the feeling of insects just below his epidermis and the tension building in his musculature. Outwardly, he might just appear to be stretching, but internally he felt foreign feelings such as worry and.. dread? He was the dread that people felt, how could he be feeling such an emotion? The sinking, heavy feeling tugged at his panicky heart. How long would it be until he was found out? But why would it matter? The thoughts conflicted in his mind. His inner voice hissing back at the shaky voice that uttered the first question. Indeed, why would it matter? It would not change anything except the situation. He would either punish the lady for attempting to alert others, force her to do his bidding, or let her run. Either way it did not change the fact he was a high-ranking demon. It just meant that one more mortal was aware of his true nature, and was that really something to hide? Zeitgeist pondered the question for a moment. Immediately, his answer would be no, and yet… here he stood with his antlers covered and his sulfuric cologne disguised as well as possible. Was it shame? Surely not. A manipulative trick at minimum. But why was he worried about being found out? ”Oh, of course. I wouldn’t dream of giving such a gift to anyone else! Her spritely words revived him and brought him back to the present. He blinked as his mind took a moment to process. What gift? He thought for a moment, his smile faltered for a moment as it recollected his prior dialogue. Suddenly, the smile grew in strength as he spoke, ”Oh thank goodness.” He said quickly, his Irish brogue was thick and nearly made the words beyond comprehension. Soon after, he hinted at some sort of tale of heartbreak. She seemed to grow curious. She responded sweetly, ”I’m sorry you’ve been hurt before. You seem like a good guy!” She sounded genuine, until the little crooked, awkward smile formed on her lips. Zeitgeist’s smile faded slightly at the gesture; it was all he could do from warping into an ivory snake in the grass. Zeitgeist nearly narrowed his eyes and twisted his auds back in offense at the slightest expression of disingenuity. Was he an honest, truthful beast? No. Did he expect others to be with him? Always. Even a stranger such as this wee lass, it was a deep offense to the beast. Instead, he tilted his head slightly and offered a weak smile and a painful look in his eye as he gazed at the mare. He responded with ease, ”I try to be a good guy. I may never be perfect, but I do try. But now, looking back, I did my best but it just wasn’t enough. Terrible business thinking you are not enough for someone you love.” As if rehearsed a million times he told the lie with genuine feeling. His voice even lowered and trembled at the bit about not being enough for someone you love. Wounded, truly. His inner voice said sarcastically in his mind. When he spoke of love, the mare blew air from her nostrils with force and chortled away as she shook her head to indicate ‘no’. He raised a brow quizzically, ”Me? Oh, no. I’m not sure love is for me, honestly. At least, not yet. I’m still so young! I’ve got my whole life ahead of me! Two years isn’t even long enough to know |myself| yet, let alone a whole other being, to know if I want to spend the rest of my life with them!” Zeitgeist blinked several times as she finally came to a quiet pause. She had revealed her young age. Hardly free of the foal hair, Zeitgeist mused, nonetheless she could carry a child. He debated whether continuing this charade or walking away. Her rapid-fire words seemed off and he was starting to question if she was attempting to hide her worry behind her flirting tones. Before he could finish his thoughts on the matter and decide, she continued, I guess I’m just not one of those girls that grew up dreaming of being a helpless princess that falls in love with a knight or something silly like that, ya know? Zeitgeist nodded slowly in response. As he collected himself to respond, he could not help but think how this mare talked an awful lot. And the way she spoke, it was almost as if she could not stop. Was she embarrassed? Is that why she felt that she needed to wrap up her already painful monologue. The white and red marked hellion straightened and raised his head, ”I can understand that.” He said. Another lie. How would he ever understand that? He had never been the romantic type, so the sweet gestures and kindness involved with love could never have been something he fathomed. ”Would you be so inclined to join me on a stroll? Since neither of us are here actively looking for love, perhaps we may get some enjoyment out of observing those that are.” He questioned her as he began to turn to begin walking. He was attempting to lighten the mood, but also ease whatever the young mare was feeling whether it be embarrassment or suspicion. With walking, she might believe she had a better chance of diverging from him and escaping his clutches. However, he would merely hunt her down like the predatory creature he was. By now he had turned away from her and taken a few steps away when he halted and turned his head around to peer at her. A jovial smile covered his lips as he beckoned her, ”It is one of my favorite past times. Watching others can bring a vast deal of knowledge, and more often than not, several good belly laughs.” His tones were spritely and warm, his Irish brogue thick in his acted excitement. Would she fall into another trap or would the little bird fly away? He waited as patiently as he could to find out. words;; 1238 timeline;; Single Mingles Event character;; Zeitgeist tag;; fleabittengray with Lady Marmalade notes;; let's see how long he can keep up with his charade xD BONUS:- Post over 1000 words - Character discusses past relationships talk

x LADY MARMALADE Flirting with an older guy, a stranger nonetheless, was really not something her mother would approve of. Addy didn't like her getting too involved with boys (or girls, she wasn't sure about that yet), at least not until she was a little older. Of course, Adrenaline knew he couldn't stop her daughter from doing whatever it was the young mare wanted to do, so instead tried to educate her on safety and training her how to defend herself. In that regard, it was both a blessing and a curse to be a Cambion, because one bite from her could be more than enough to destroy someone. Not that she liked to think about that. She wondered if there was a way to become less lethal. If there was a way of her existing with her "purpose" being to kill others. A deadly weapon disguised with a smile and sweet laughter. It kinda sucked, honestly. It made her feel ashamed of what she was. What she really wanted was to be normal. And here with Zeitgeist, him chuckling at her silly little flirting words, it was helping her to feel normal - aside from the, ya know, uneasiness that he also made her feel. She still could not figure out why or what about him was so off-putting, only that it was. ”Oh thank goodness.” His accent was so think and unfamiliar (but kinda hot, to be honest) that all she could do was giggle and grin at him. She hadn't had much experience with different accents, but she knew there was a whole world out there. Horses from all over the world ended up in Wild Equines. It was quite amazing, really. ”I try to be a good guy. I may never be perfect, but I do try. But now, looking back, I did my best but it just wasn’t enough. Terrible business thinking you are not enough for someone you love.” It truly had her wondering what heartbreak had befallen the hellion and she sighed, giving an understanding nod. "Yeah, it sounds like it would be awful..." she agreed, wrinkling her nose at the idea of her own heartbreak. She knew it was bound to happen at some point, but she hoped it wouldn't leave her traumatized. After she'd stated her age, and began to ramble senseless, Zeitgeist was left blinking at her. She wished the ground would just swallow her whole at that very moment, please and thank you, and she gave a kind of timid smile at the other equine. She half expected him to now excuse himself and leave her all on her own, but instead, he was still standing there. Looking at her. ”I can understand that.” And now, she was blinking at him, because she wasn't expecting that kind of response from... well. Someone like him. Then again, she really didn't know him all that well. ”Would you be so inclined to join me on a stroll? Since neither of us are here actively looking for love, perhaps we may get some enjoyment out of observing those that are.” Mar's eyes went wide then, jaw dropping in disbelief but she quickly schooled her face back into a more neutral expression, clearing her throat and watching as the large beast began to turn and walk away. She was just starting to take a few timid steps after him, making sure to come up on his right side so that her left shoulder remained out of view (hopefully, at least). ”It is one of my favorite past times. Watching others can bring a vast deal of knowledge, and more often than not, several good belly laughs.”Mar laughed quietly, looking around at the others in the area. They didn't seem to be paying her much attention. Nor did anyone else have eyes on Zeitgeist from what she could tell. "I do love a good belly laugh," she agreed, snickering as they began their slow paced stroll through Unclaimed Hearts. Mar could only hope she wasn't making a terrible decision. ☽ caely ☾ w/ Zeitgeist 672 | ProfileI LOVE this thread 2 years 6 months, second thread of Singles Mingle 2024
