avitas Having already talked to one person in this event left Avitas feeling a bit more confident in the next encounter. Anwen had been pleasant to talk to and he found himself hoping that he would be able to see her again after this. He didn't have to have a relationship with anyone here, there was nothing wrong with finding friends here too! The thought was freeing and he found himself smiling as he searched out another partner amongst the crowd. There were not a whole lot of equines here, but that was fine with him, even if he had to wait for a bit for someone to free up. He couldn't see any hostility yet, or at least nothing visible. He wouldn't know what to do if a fight broke out. Would he step in or would he ignore it? The thought had him chewing on the inside of his mouth and he made himself stop. He liked to think that he would intervene and stop the violence, but he wouldn't actually know unless it happened. Hopefully it wouldn't. Gods, he hoped he hadn't jinxed it by thinking about it! At that moment, he was aware that someone had opened up for conversation nearby, another stallion. He was rather striking, a bay paint. Taking a deep breath to give himself a brief burst of confidence, he made his way toward the stallion. Hopefully he would not be offended by Avitas' approach. If so, Avitas would find someone else to talk to. Maybe he'd go and talk to Anwen again, even. In the few seconds it took to come within the stallion's hearing range, he turned over conversation starters in his head, just as he'd done before. "Hey there," he greeted the stallion, "my name's Avitas. What can I call you?" A basic starter, but effective nonetheless. He felt that he was probably one of the youngest participants here, which was a little intimidating, but even so. He might as well start out with this stuff now. And it still wasn't nearly as difficult as surviving torture at the hands of a cambion mare. If the worst thing that could happen here was he got embarrassed, then he'd take that and learn from it. It wasn't the end of the world. It wasn't life or death. He'd experienced life or death. This did not compare. profiletag A z z ytimeline 2 years, 4 months, after thread with anwen notes <33

K a s h m i r Oh, let the sun beat down upon my face And stars fill my dream I'm a traveler of both time and space To be where I have been
The mahogany and ivory hued virile had moved in tandem with the group, his flowing steps carrying him with ease as the group moved and mingled. Whereas some were keen to engage directly, for now, Kashmir merely observed. His oceanic optics scoured the gathering with intrigue, some of the attendees far more brazen than others in their approach. Whilst Kashmir was confident, occasionally cocky with it, he could safely say he lacked the abundance of arrogance some seemed to hold. The left corner of his lips subtly twisted upwards in a smirk, his gaze shifting from the gathering of equines to the birds in a branch overhead. They danced their own dance, the male bird so vivid in his hues, so extravagant in his movements, his song so melodic and in tune. There was no arrogance, no ferocious demanding of the female's attention. Kashmir smiled, a genuine smile, before returning his teal lampistras to the group. Flicking his obsidian cords against his ivory fetlocks, Kashmir watched with intrigue as there was a break in the bodies, the youthful stag he had seen earlier breaking through the gathering like a ship upon the waves, his course set firmly in his direction. Kashmir shifted his weight, resting a hind dagger upon its apex as he watched the orange eyed lad draw closer. The spring sun bounced it's rays off the gilded plate around his forearm, glinting beams of light projected from it lest he turn his mass away from the meagre warmth provided. The seal bay beast moved into his line of sight before halting, a barely noticeable height advantage was given to Kashmir, but age was certainly on his side, should this turn south. "Hey there, my name's Avitas. What can I call you?” Kashmir flicked his lobes forward attentively, a friendly smile curling his velvet veneered lips. Pleasure is all mine, Avitas, he spoke, his words smooth but not intimidating nor outwardly flirtatious like many tones seemed to be at this event. You can call me Kashmir, he answered with ease, confidence easily noted in the words before he continued. My friends call me Kash, however. Was it an invitation for a friendship? Absolutely - the mahogany brute was new here, safety was found in numbers but with that came the loss of freedom, of one's self. At least, that's how it felt. Holding his handsome countenance slightly at an angle, he held Avitas in his gaze with an almost playful look. What's brought you here, if you don't mind my asking? He queried with ease and jest alike, wondering if it was the need for companionship, someone to lay with, or simply just out of curiosity. What would be his own response should Avitas bounce it back? Kashmir kept his gaze easily upon his new found friend, briefly releasing him from his attention to ensure no hostility was brewing elsewhere. There were those who radiated an aura that spat fire and gasoline alike, a dangerous combination for a gathering such as this. Would blood be spilled and would Kashmir have to intervene? It certainly wouldn't be the first time, but he had hoped it would not have come around so soon… "Others speech"Kashmir's speech+ ebonite +link to ref

avitas Now that Avitas was closer to the stallion, he took note of the gold band around his leg. It shone in the sunlight and he found himself smiling, reminded of the medallion that his mother had won in the gladiator tournament. That particular trophy was tied to one of the trees in Dark Woods, overlooking the most popular clearing. His mother had tried wearing it but found it too bulky and hindering, so she displayed it proudly in the herd instead. Where had this stallion gotten such a thing? Did it have any significance for him? Now those were good questions to ask of this stranger. Perhaps he was going to be good at this after all. 'Pleasure is all mine, Avitas,' the stallion spoke, his words smooth. Avitas immediately relaxed more, pleased that the stranger was not going to be hostile. 'You can call me Kashmir,' Avitas nodded in greeting. 'My friends call me Kash, however.' The stallion added and Avitas found himself quirking a brow in curiosity. Did he want to be friends? The stallion felt excited at the prospect, given that was one of the big reasons he had come here. He would have to ask and confirm, though. He didn't want to assume anything. 'What's brought you here, if you don't mind my asking?' Kashmir - Kash, perhaps? - asked in turn. Well, he'd come to test his own limits, practice socializing, and to hopefully leave with some more connections, friendships or otherwise. It was a good opportunity, as daunting as it had seemed at first. "It seemed like a good opportunity to socialize," he said, his tone bright and friendly. He had no problem with being honest about his intentions. "I wanted to see if I could do it and hopefully leave with some more connections - friendships or otherwise," he continued. He would have talked about the hardship that he'd gone through, but he realized that that wasn't the best place to start off with someone he had just met. Better to keep it to lighter topics instead, at least for this first conversation. He didn't mind talking about it, but he had to be conscious of others' boundaries and limits. "So, Kashmir - or Kash, if I may - I'll ask you the same question. What's brought you here?" He asked in turn, curious to see if Kashmir's intentions were similar. The vague offer of friendship made it seem that way, but it would be good to confirm. profiletag A z z ytimeline 2 years, 4 months, after thread with anwen notes <33

K a s h m i r Oh, let the sun beat down upon my face And stars fill my dream I'm a traveler of both time and space To be where I have been
"It seemed like a good opportunity to socialize, I wanted to see if I could do it and hopefully leave with some more connections - friendships or otherwise,” Kashmir flicked his lobes in the direction of the gent as he spoke, his atlas bobbing along in silent acknowledgement. Although, the note of uncertainty did not go unnoticed to the bay stag, his teal optics shimmering as he studied Avitas for a moment longer. Do you find it difficult to socialise in general? Was it too personal a question? Probably, but tact for the sake of saving face was not a strong point of Kashmir's. Or is it just with the fairer sex? Because that I can understand... He mused again, his tones still light, genuinely inquisitive of his new found companion. Kashmir had had his fair share of encounters with willing maidens, even those where he had found himself unwilling to meet their needs or demands. Some got under his skin in the most delicious way and others had rubbed him up the wrong way and entirely turned him off. So if Avitas was somewhat bewildered by the witchery of mares, he could entirely understand. It was then Avitas turned the question to Kashmir, rousing the chocolate hued stallion from his contemplation. His oceanic hues lingered on Avitas as the words departed his maw with curiosity. "So, Kashmir - or Kash, if I may - I'll ask you the same question. What's brought you here?” A wry smile curled his lips at the quizzing, his scrutiny briefly leaving Avitas as he scoured the group around him. How far could his honesty, his truth, take him? Would it even matter to Avitas? A steady exhalation of oxygen filtered through his nasal passages, the velvet veneered passages shivering softly from the force. Those beryl optics shifted in their sockets back to Avitas, a warm, genuine, smile curling his mug as he allowed the air to fill his chest once more. I am new to these lands, I know not a soul so far, he admitted, an odd wistfulness in his words, as if he almost missed company. I suppose curiosity is what brought me here, to see who, he paused, his gaze dancing over the strange markings two of the attendees bore, Or what, inhabits these lands… he trailed off, his attention still hooked on those odd markings and what they meant. Kashmir would have asked if he'd had any business in doing so. Afterall, he was adorned with golden rings, and that was none of anyone else's business, lest he wished to explain the story behind them. After a pause, the nomad levelling his gaze easily upon Avitas, that familiar warmth returning to his features. Briskly, he shook his well muscled nape, the silken abyssal tendrils falling in knotted waves as Kashmir fell motionless, an almost mischievous shimmer entering his gaze. So, does anyone take your fancy? "Others speech"Kashmir's speech+ ebonite + link to ref

avitas Avitas once again found himself relaxing the longer that he was in conversation with Kash. Just like what had happened with Anwen. 'Do you find it difficult to socialise in general?' The stallion's question caught him a bit off guard. That felt a little personal, but it did tell Avitas that Kashmir was open to talking about more personal topics, at least. Avitas did not mind opening up. Or at least he thought he hadn't. Now, the prospect of talking about his ordeal made his throat go dry. 'Or is it just with the fairer sex? Because that I can understand...' the stallion continued. Avitas chuckled a bit, relieved at the brief reprieve from his own thoughts. No, he didn't find mares more difficult to talk to than stallions. He was as nervous to talk to Anwen as he was to Kashmir. Perhaps more so for Kashmir since he wasn't certain whether the stallion would be offended by his approach during a singles mingle event. Avitas did not care about gender, but others might. "No, I don't find any gender harder to talk to than others," he said, chuckling a bit more, hoping to lighten the mood before he potentially dampened it. "Less than a year ago I went through something pretty traumatic that made me very wary of strangers," he explained, unsure how much detail he should go into. He'd leave it vague enough and if Kashmir wanted to know more, he could ask. Avitas was not sure how much he could talk about it though. Even saying what he was saying now was enough to elevate his heart rate and make him feel slightly lightheaded. "So, of course, I decided to attend an event full of strangers to see if I could do it," he continued, trying to lighten the mood again as best he could. At Avitas' own question, Kash flashed him a warm, genuine smile, something that made Avitas feel better after what he had revealed himself. 'I am new to these lands, I know not a soul so far,' Avitas cocked his head a bit, curious about Kashmir even more. A newcomer and he was attending an event like this? That was wise, he supposed. It was an easy way to get to know others rather quickly. Smart. Where had he come from? What had made him come here? 'I suppose curiosity is what brought me here, to see who,' he said and then paused, glancing toward other horses in the crowd. Avitas wasn't sure what he was looking at at first. 'Or what, inhabits these lands...' He looked back as Kashmir continued on and Avitas found himself quirking a brow. What, huh? What was he talking about? His gaze drifted back to the horses and it was then that he saw it - the biohazard marking. Immediately, his body froze, adrenaline pouring through him like fire. His heart rate quickened further and he felt the urge to flee, far far away from here. Sheer will made him stay still. It's okay, just breathe. Neither of the equines in question matched the description of his captor. One was a jet black stallion and the other a golden mare. But they still carried the same abilities. Not all of them are evil... he tried to convince himself. After all, Lissette had been a member of Dark Woods and also a cambion and she had never hurt anyone. Of course, she was missing now. Rumor was it that the newest Light King was also a cambion. Surely they couldn't all be evil if the Lights had put one on the throne? He was sure Kashmir had noticed his visceral reaction. How would he explain it? "I-I'm sorry," he managed, his voice sounding strained to his own ears. "Horses with those markings... they carry a terrible disease," he continued, clinging on to the fact that even though his voice was strained, he was still managing to talk. "It's why I'm wary of strangers," he finished. Would that explanation be enough? His heartbeat thudded in his ears and he was starting to feel nauseated. No, he didn't want to leave the gathering like this. He had to keep talking. Maybe this episode would pass if he distracted himself from it. He could ask Kashmir something. Yes, ask him where he'd come from. "So, where did you come from? And why come here?" he managed to ask, his voice sounding less strained than before. Keep breathing. Steady, he tried to soothe himself. He would be okay. profiletag A z z ytimeline 2 years, 4 months, after thread with anwen notes trauma flashback time

K a s h m i r Oh, let the sun beat down upon my face And stars fill my dream
"No, I don't find any gender harder to talk to than others. Less than a year ago I went through something pretty traumatic that made me very wary of strangers,” Kashmir flicked a lobe in the direction of Avitas, his brow furrowing deeply in genuine concern, his inky lips downturning at the corners in a pained grimace. "So, of course, I decided to attend an event full of strangers to see if I could do it,” Avitas added, raising a slight rumble of a chuckle from the mahogany virile. Kashmir bobbed his handsome atlas in both silent acknowledgement and understanding, whilst he had not endured an ordeal such as that, he knew what it was to have your world changed by one sudden and unexpected event. Kashmir swallowed, a sudden swell of emotions rising to the surface that he had tried so hard to ignore. Feelings that he had removed meaning from, he had pushed them to the depths of his psyche and left them there to rot. But now, empathising with Avitas, they were beginning to surface again. And here you are, you should be proud, Kashmir turned to face him as he said it, the oceanic depths of his gaze honest and true. It was no mean feat to find ones standing again after a traumatic event had literally taken the floor from beneath you. Their conversation continued, and Kashmir found himself ever more curious as to why some beasts bore a brand and others did not. Yet, as Avitas noticed what was in his companions line of sight, he seemed to freeze. Kashmir studied him fiercely, his gaze dancing from the lad and back to the branded beasts. Were these the ones who had harmed him? Were these the ones who had caused Avitas to doubt, to fear, the world around him? They paid Avitas no mind, he had not noticed them - yet his reaction was visceral, as if fighting his own instincts. Kashmir gently touched the shoulder of his companion, a soft brush of his velvet veneered mug across the slab of muscle to bring him back to the present, to take him away from the ghosts that haunted his mind. You're safe, Avitas, he murmured, his tones low enough only for the other stallion. There was a look in the eyes of the mahogany brute, a knowing, a promise, should these be the cause of his hurt, they would not get through Kashmir with ease. "I-I'm sorry, Horses with those markings... they carry a terrible disease. It's why I'm wary of strangers,” Kashmir's gaze briefly danced to the two with the markings, then back to Avitas, his dome shaking slightly, obsidian tresses dancing across his features as a smile curled his lips. You have nothing to be sorry for, if anything, thank you for the warning. Kashmir would say no more on the topic unless Avitas wished to speak further on the matter. The change in conversation was enough confirmation. "So, where did you come from? And why come here?" A wry smile curled the lips of the stag, his teal optics leaving Avitas to sweep over the lands and the inhabitants that stood before them. Truth for truth, it was only fair. I came from a nomadic herd, we had no set home for more than a few months at a time. My father moved us with the seasons. Kashmir spoke with a small, nostalgic smile, yet there was a pain in his eyes. I left because - a small, cold shiver of a chuckle escaped him then, his features hardening. I left because if I had stayed, I'd have had to have killed my father to do so. Fortunately for him, I've never been one for taking a life unless it was absolutely necessary. And the world is such a big place, why not see more of it? There was an ease to the words now, as if the reason was well rehearsed, as if the thrill of adventure was greater than the possibility of having blood on his hooves. And as for why here… I am unsure, for now it is the right place for me. Where do you call home? He queried, genuinely curious about the lands he had not yet crossed and where Avitas called home. OOC. Just noting this thread will be elligible for the completion award for Avitas but not Kashmir as A z z y went over the posting time! You can continue posting until the end of the event to attempt to get the other bonus prizes.

avitas 'And here you are, you should be proud,' Kashmir's words echoed in his head after the fact and he tried to cling to them, to remain calm. Remember your sessions. Remember to relax. No one here was going to hurt him. He was fine, he was safe, he was free. His heart still thudded wildly in his chest, but the dizziness and sheer panic was passing now that the intial shock had worn off. Two cambions, here, in the singles mingle. He wondered at their intentions again and tried to dismiss the thoughts. It was no use debating these kinds of questions. They would only serve to drive him further into his panic spiral. Their intentions were none of his business right now. If he worried about what every cambion in Wild Equines was doing, he would be driven to madness. He felt a slight touch on his shoulder and turned to see Kashmir offering him some reassurance. 'You're safe, Avitas,' the stallion murmured quietly. Avitas was so taken aback by someone who was essentially a total stranger offering him such consolation that it made him emotional. He swallowed and nodded, realizing that the worst of it had passed him now. He was coming down from the panic, beginning to feel calmer and back in the moment again. 'You have nothing to be sorry for, if anything, thank you for the warning,' the stallion said and Avtias nodded in acknowledgment. Even if not all cambions were evil, they were still dangerous. That was something that they couldn't help, no matter their morals. 'I came from a nomadic herd, we had no set home for more than a few months at a time. My father moved us with the seasons,' Kashmir explained. A nomadic herd, huh? That sounded interesting. Traveling from one place to another. Never the same place, but always the same people. Yes, Avitas could see the appeal of that. So much exploring to do! Kashmir must have seen so many places traveling like that. It made Avitas want to travel himself. 'I left because -' Kashmir started and then paused abruptly, his expression hardening. Something bad had happened, then. 'I left because if I had stayed, I'd have had to have killed my father to do so. Fortunately for him, I've never been one for taking a life unless it was absolutely necessary. And the world is such a big place, why not see more of it?' He continued on. Avitas gave one nod, thinking. Why would he have to kill his father? Had his father threatened him for staying? Avitas was glad that Kashmir had opted not to do that... Avitas had been around plenty of fighting, given who his mother was, but killing was entirely different. Now he found himself wondering if he would be able to kill, if he had to. The thought made him deeply uncomfortable, but when he thought about that mare with the violet eyes, torturing himself and his family over and over... Well, the world would certainly be a better place without her in it. 'And as for why here... I am unsure, for now it is the right place for me. Where do you call home?' Kashmir finished then. Avitas supposed that made sense, given his nomadic lifestyle. It was likely he would wander somewhere else eventually. "I'm sorry that you went through that," Avitas said, hoping to extend the same sympathy that Kashmir had showed him earlier, "that's not something you should have had to deal with." He wasn't going to ask for details, not right now. "I live in the Neutral Kingdom, in a herd called Dark Woods. My family has owned it for generations," he said. He doubted that Kashmir had heard of it, given how new he was to the lands. profiletag A z z ytimeline 2 years, 4 months, after thread with anwen notes sorry for the wait x___x kashmir is such a sweetheart <3
