Saniyya had learned from Xovad what had happened to him. Ragnar had come and taken Dahlia, against her will, severely injuring Hymn in the process. Xovad had attacked him and killed him. Given Xovad’s shock, it had not been intentional to kill Ragnar. Dahlia was the product of rape – Ragnar had raped Trinity, and Dahlia was a Cambion. Saniyya somehow didn’t think his visit to see Dahlia was a compassionate one, nor his attempt to remove her from Lyrarcor. All of this Saniyya had learned from Xovad. She had felt something rising in her then…it was deeper than anger at the unfairness of it all, of what had transpired. It was along the lines of deep, full-throated rage. Saniyya had not felt right ever since she’d learned what had happened. She knew something had to be done. A response had to be made.
Then had come Xerxes. The Lord of the Underworld himself had come to Mersa. He’d summoned Xovad, who had appeared as though a criminal under trial. Xerxes had done something to the lands of the Versai. He’d poisoned the Highlands. Food was scarce and unfindable; water was poisoned and undrinkable. And Xerxes had apparently thought his son’s death was unavoidable, not a consequence of aggression that Ragnar had chosen to inflict on the Versai yet again. It was…completely, utterly, and totally unfair and incorrect. It was unjust, injustice in the extreme, and the High Priestess of the Versai knew that she could not stand for it. She could not watch her fellow Versai suffer like this. She could not stand by in the face of what had happened and not make a claim for either side.
Her neutrality was in the past. Her sympathy for Xerxes and his wrongful death, all in the past. What she knew now was rage. How dare the Versai be judged for this “murder”, when it was self-defense. How dare Dahlia be taken from them, against her will. And how dare the Helkaer, the Dark Kingdom, the Underworld, all of them, think they were the true arbiters of justice here. They had not acted rightly. They had acted wrongly, and Saniyya would make peace a forgotten memory in response to this wrongful act. Her lands were poisoned by the Underworld, and there was only one response to that…the power of Utopia.
And it was thus that the silver dapple black turned her face to the heavens, silver eyes seeking the stars in the sky, the Light against the Darkness. She had no words adequate to express herself, no words sufficient to express the feelings roiling in her heart. This was a step away from neutrality, but her enemies – for they were enemies now – had brought this upon themselves. She would make the land itself rain on them, drown out their flames and replace with the sweet solace of water. She was going to war. Though she spoke no words, she sent her thoughts into the space above her. Angels could read minds; let them read hers, and know of her need and desire to speak with them and make things right however she could. Cadence! Rasa! She called to them, shouted to them with her mind. Let them have her soul if they wished; let them have her allegiance. She would give it all, if it meant the lands could be cured and she could do something to right the wrongs done to the Versai at the hooves of the Underworld and their allies.

notes// For Sani to officially declare her allegiance to Utopia in response to what's happened due to Xerxes; understanding the way to get the lands fully cleansed is still a topic under debate, Sani wants to declare her allegiance regardless and hash that out. I am happy for her to talk with both Cadence and Rasa or just one of them, whichever works.
