I never believed the devil was real But God couldn't make someone filthy as you An alliance with the Underworld was supposedly in the works within the Dark Kingdom, spurred on by the fact that Queen Thomasin had been attacked by Rasa and her angelic followers. It amused him, really, that the King and Queen were only just recently debating forming an alliance with the Lord and Lady of the Underworld. Charm's own soul had been owned by the Underworld for quite some time now, many years, in fact. He figured it offered him a bit of an upper hand on his enemies. He could call on the demons, if he needed to, though he'd never needed to. He just knew there was no way he was ever going to reach out to Utopia. Rasa hated him though he did not blame her. He had, after all, held Talia captive for a number of years before she could be found by the Utopians and taken home. He missed his little angel but... he'd always known he couldn't keep her forever. He did have the next best thing, however - their son. It had taken some digging to track him down but in the end, he'd found Caelius and brought the Nephilim back to The Whore House to live out the rest of his days. This morning, the Shire was venturing out to the Free Lands. It was a chilly morning but Opaque Beach was comfortable, only just a little cooler than it normally was - and only because the sun had barely risen and there was a breeze coming off of the ocean that carried with it the aroma of the salt and brine of the sea. The black sabino inhaled the oxygen deeply, holding the breath for a moment before letting it out in a slow exhale. Charm had not been to the beach in too long. He'd missed the way the sands shifted beneath his massive hooves and the gentle crashing of the waves against the shore. It was peaceful and sometimes even a monster like Charm liked the peace that the ocean habitat could bring. No one would ever believe it, of course, but he'd never been one to care about what others thought of him or what they believed. Let them make their assumptions about him. tagged: oxymelon words: 373 character: Charmnotes: For Calypso! timeline: 10 years 8 months, late winter, morning, after threads with Selven and Riddler "Speech"

Calypso's journey across the Free Lands had been slow and arduous to be honest. The night she had left her herd, the only family she had ever known, she had at first ran for days until her legs could no longer bear her weight. The death of her once lover haunted her sleep and her every waking moment and so she had pushed on, crossing both vast grass plains and through forests. She had no destination, only to put as much distance between herself and the ghosts behind her. Eventually she had stopped her mad dash, instead picking her way along at a slow, drawn out pace. Eventually she found herself moving towards the sea, following the tang of salt in the air. She had moved through the night until finally she could hear the waves in the distance and knew she was close. Morning rays spilled across the sandy beach and naught but the soft crash of the waves broke the still silence that was the break of dawn. From the shadows of the tall trees of the forest stepped the mare, dainty in frame and dark in colour. Her ears swiveled about her head as she moved down towards the sand, listening for any hint of danger...or more rather another of her kind.
The salty brine of the ocean was heavy in her nostrils, the tide having not yet receded. Long shadows stretched across the sand, the light still too scarce to make out much in the way of shapes. Satisfied that she was alone for now, Calypso descended through the dunes and to the wide stretch of sand that made up the beach. The sudden urge to frolic in the waves overcame her and without pausing to consider it, the mare surged forward into the waves. The water was cold, freezing really and Calypso suddenly remembered it was winter. The wind buffeted her now damp coat, sending a chill to her bones. Shivering, she moved back to the sand intent on rolling to try and dry herself off to some degree. Instead however, before she had fully emerged from the water, a looming figure caught her attention. It was a stallion that much she could tell, even in the dim lighting. How she hadn't noticed him previously, she didn't know. Likely in her rush to splash about, she had dropped her guard. It was too late to retreat to the forest, there was no way she could and avoid his notice. She had no choice then but to engage.
"Hello stranger," she said slowly.

x CHARM The morning air was fresh and crisp. A wintery breeze swept through every so often, making even the large Shire shiver subtly as he meandered down the shoreline of Opaque Beach. He was not here for any one reason or another. Sometimes, the large behemoth just needed to stretch his legs. There was much on his mind, like the impending war and everything that was bound to happen because of it. He knew his home would more than likely be a target for Utopia and their allies, seeing as how Charm had personally wronged Rasa before, what with his capture of Talia and holding her hostage for several months. At least a year. Long enough to get a foal out of her. Chuckling to himself quietly, he gave his head a slight shake, tossing his thick forelock away from his blackened eyes to more easily see the territory around him. It was then that he spotted the mare making a mad dash toward the sea. She did not seem to notice him in her giddy eagerness to get to the ocean waves. The Shire came to a halt, observing her curiously as she crashed into the freezing waters. A flicker of amusement across his face but he was otherwise silent and motionless, just watching as she frolicked for a moment in the water, as long as she could tolerate at least. He could see her shivering from the short distance he stood at and he shook his head, tsking his tongue quietly. Such a simple mistake she had made, but who was he to judge? She parted ways with the water then, and that was when she spotted him. Her big doe-eyed locked onto him and the black sabino beast grinned at her, charming and handsome. "Hello stranger," She spoke slowly, as if nervous, afraid he might hurt her - she had every right to be afraid. But did she know that? Did she know who he was? "Hello," he repeated the greeting, not yet taking a step toward her. He did laughed softly, but not unkindly, motioning toward the ocean. "Water not nearly warm enough for a swim just yet, eh?" He teased lightly, his grin growing. "Should you grow too cold, you are welcome to join me over here, and use my body heat to warm yourself. I promise to be a gentleman." And it would be so easily to believe those words, with his handsome smile in place, his eyes twinkling with mischief but not malice - at least, for the moment. oxymelon w/ Calypso 423 | ProfileSorry for the wait! 10 years 8 months, late winter, morning, after threads with Selven and Riddler
