Couple's Retreat 2024 signups close February 15th The Singles Mingle event has been one that has occurred for several years... But what about an event for our couples? Someone has recommended that the serene territory of Crystal Pools be utilized for equines in relationships to gather, and participate in activities to strengthen their bonds. To join, post IC in this thread which will serve as the central gathering thread for all equines. You may note that characters have been made aware that something special is happening here for couples choosing to attend this event. Once they have arrived, and individual threads have been made by staff, couples can either bask in the romantic environment that Crystal Pools offers, or participate in the activities (bonuses) mentioned below. rules- Roleplayers may participate in both the Singles Mingle event and Couple's Retreat event, however, you may only receive the GP prize for completing one event (ex. If you successfully complete both events, you will still only receive 10 GP).
- All players can join a total of one character, to participate in one couple. This character must be at least two years of age.
- You must post here to this central gathering thread first. After your character as well as their partner is posted here, individual threads will be created by staff for each couple.
- All players will have a limit of five days between posts to reply. If someone fails to post within the five days, they will be disqualified and will not earn their prizes.
- In order for a thread to be marked as complete, players must post at least three times each.
- If your partner fails to post and is disqualified, in order to complete that individual thread and earn the Completed Thread prize, you will be required to do one more post to wrap up the thread. It felt odd, that someone would suggest an event so innocent, during such a stressful time. The entire world was in turmoil. He knew that events like this had occurred in the past, but he had not considered that they would still continue to happen despite the war. It was a bizarre sensation, to continue life as usual when lives were being destroyed. But he supposed that life was too short to be put on pause while the feud between Utopia and the Underworld unfolded, particularly for a mortal such as himself. He and his mate had endured their fair share of difficulties, of hardships... Why shouldn't they take the time to celebrate one another? To actively work to bring further joy into their lives? It was with this thought in mind that Galaxy had discussed attending this so called "Couple's Retreat" with Kynneta, who had agreed. And once the decision had been made, he had been eager to get going. It felt suiting that this affair be held in Crystal Pools... Considering this was the place where he and Kynneta had first met. That had been a lifetime ago, it felt - now, he scarcely remembered his life without her in it. She had had such an influence on him and who he had become. Supporting him every step of the way, throughout all that they had gone through. And now she stood by him as they grew their family, just like he had always wanted. His family had been broken when he had been young, but despite this, he had never been without love. He had only hoped he could have the same for himself as he had grown, and that was just what was happening. Despite the way that Varek had come into the world, he was no less of Galaxy's son than Presto, who was Galaxy's own blood. Maybe not the typical definition of a family, but a strong one, nonetheless. With Kynneta, their children, and a home... Galaxy was happy. And he could only hope that they would continue to relish in this happiness for the days to come.It was deep into the morning by the time Galaxy and Kynneta arrived in the Lands of the Free. Equines of all sorts had gathered around the warm pools, paired off with their significant others. There was a sort of intimate buzz lingering in the air, a feel of adoration and excitement exuberayting from those present. Galaxy's own feelings mimicked that which he felt surrounding him. He glanced at his mate, his devotion to her crystal clear within his silver chasms, feeling completely in the moment. "Well, this should be fun." He told her with a cheerfulness in his vocals. He was really looking forward to today. Tagged - ღ ∂ιѕαѕтєя ღ with KynnetaWords

If the bronze vixen was being honest, she was caught off guard by Gavin's invitation to attend this... couple's retreat. While their friendship was certainly something special and felt more than that deep down, the mare hadn't quite felt right since her time with the Helkaer. She was under no illusion that her status as a Seer for the Neutral Kingdom or her preference to stay out of the war would have protected her from being taken. Nor did she truly blame Gavin for not immediately storming Sinheim for her return. That time spent in those dark, cold caves had twisted her thoughts and left her in a constant state of uncertainty. When Aelin approached the Lady of Utopia, she felt she knew exactly what her purpose was and what she wanted. Now, she wasn't quite sure. Perhaps that was why she was almost wary of having alone time with the spirited stallion again. They hadn't truly had time to speak about whatever feelings had been simmering below the surface or what had happened in the Helkaer lands. But this event wasn't supposed to be about that, right? It was about them spending time together and having peace. Conversation. She could only hope that she wouldn't make it awkward. Would they be able to fall back into that easy relationship they had before the witch had taken her? Was he still the Gavin she felt standing beside her in the shadows? With a heavy sigh, she made her way towards the Freelands, multicolored eyes warily taking in the landscape as she walked. Everything seemed to be as it was before she left, and that was a small comfort. She hadn't purposefully left without the painted stallion. She hadn't been able to sleep more than an hour or two since her return, so she was too restless to wait. Hopefully, Gavin wouldn't take that personally. That thought suddenly made her nervous as she reached the pools and anxiously searched the crowd. She saw his creamy and white pelt, meeting those violet depths with a smile naturally tugging at her lips. A burst of relief went through the mare that he did indeed show up and that she still felt drawn to him just like she had since they had met. Aelin tried not to push through all the gathering couples as she weaved towards the sweet stallion. She settled close to him, her smile widening and feeling genuine for the first time in ages. I haven't been here yet, have you?SpeechTAG Sunfrost and Gavin :') WORDS 400 something TIMELINE After Aelin has been released Just a lil' angsty, but she still loves him

Gavin didn’t know what in the world had possessed him. The minute he’d gotten Aelin back from Harlan, he’d wanted to make her feel better somehow. Being in Sinheim…it had made her more somber. Gavin missed the almost wild mare Aelin had been when she’d first come to Eacarrah and started weaving a place for herself in his heart. That had been what had drawn the shy, suddenly blurted invitation out of him in the first place. He’d asked Aelin if she wanted to come to this Couple’s Retreat event that was being held, awkwardly adding that maybe it would help them both to get away from Eacarrah for a bit and do something fun. Aelin was free-spirited and Gavin thought she’d appreciate it, but inviting her had also felt like silently acknowledging that there was something between them, and Gavin really didn’t know what to do about that.
It was nervousness and anticipation that had led to him getting here so quickly. He hadn’t wanted to wait for Aelin to come with him mainly because he didn’t want to pressure her into talking before their…date? Was this a date? Anxiety climbing, the silver buckskin tobiano firmly told himself to get a grip. The gripping and squirming of something on his back caught his attention – someone, rather. Atlas, his ever faithful companion, had come with the Eacarrah herd lead to give him a stern pep talk. Atlas knew Gavin liked Aelin a lot, and he was here to facilitate that process. His reprimanding yet encouraging squeaks to get it together and just focus on having fun were exactly what Gavin needed to hear, though. In almost no time at all, or what felt like no time, Gavin’s violet eyes saw Aelin, approaching him with a broad smile on her face. He instantly relaxed, letting out a happy nicker of greeting as she settled beside him.
They were in Crystal Pools, a place Gavin had likely explored at one time or another but had not for a while. Aelin asked him if he’d been there before, to which he responded sheepishly Maybe? Likely not since I was younger. It’s pretty, isn’t it? His eyes wandered around the pools, taking it in and vaguely realizing the pools lent themselves very nicely to a romantic setting. Atlas chirruped from his back, suddenly announcing something and scampering off. He paused to chitter at Aelin a bit too, though Gavin knew she wouldn’t understand. He chuckled, then explained Atlas was just saying he has some sort of surprise for us, and that he’ll be right back. I wonder what he has in mind?

The boisterous mare would always be up for some fun and games, and knowing that something would happen here just made her excitement pop! Seeing all the others that seemed to accumulate in this place just made her wonder even more. The chimeric mare was almost trotting as she entered the area around the Crystal pools, her golden eyes scanning over the different couples that had decided to join up to this little retreat that she had heard so much about. Why had she decided to come here then? She wasn't completely sure, seeing that the only one she was interested in even remotedly in this way was a prickly little thing... Well, okay, he was a prickly BIG little thing, but that wasn't the point! He never seemed to have many words for her and she barely even knew his name, but even so she couldn't get the pale brute out of her head. Or how cute he looked with the flowers in his hair, whenever she managed to put some in it, that is... She did try with some red berries that had still been on the bush this winter, and the red had reminded her of blood, something that had looked almost eeringly good with his monochrome looks. Maybe... Maybe he would turn up here as well. Feeling herself heat for a moment at the thought, she, instead of smiling like a fool and just standing there like an idiot, decided to walk further in, trying to see if maybe he was already here, but walking by couple by couple, she had yet to see him, knowing that his huge stature would be hard to miss, even in a crowd. While doing this she couldn't help but think what could even happen with this big guy. He wasn't much of a talker, but she had hanged on to him like a leech lately, tormenting him with her flowers and kindness, cuddling that cat of his and stealing warmth any time she had needed it. He was big and could spare it in her mind. Yes, she wasn't afraid to use her smaller size to her advantage if she could, especially with her prickly little big pear. Settling down at a smaller pool that wasn't lined with couples, she relished in the warmth from the area while looking around at all the happy, smiling places. Everyone was so beautiful and would fit so well with different flowers had it been spring. She saw a chestnut mare who she imagined with tiger lilies, and another one who she would just love to put bluebells on. tag; medilicnotes; still a little unsure of where they stand, but she likes him lol credit for art - medilic

Abaddon didn't know why he had been following the little mare. Ever since the little scare with her, he had begun to feel protective over her, he worried for her. It made his skin itch and chest tighten; he did not know if he enjoyed that feeling. His eyes were trained on the brush ahead, he hadn't been following her for long, but he had caught her scent on the wind and had gotten curious. Now even more so when he could smell the scent of others on the wind, it made his jaw clench he didn't know how he felt about her being around others. She had a very happy-go-lucky nature, and he didn't want her to get hurt. He would hate to have to tear someone apart in front of her however that wouldn't stop him from enjoying it, nonetheless. The moment he turned the corner he realized where she had been heading and his eyes narrowed, he spotted the couples paired up together and he had heard about this little retreat going on, but he originally had wanted to stay far away from it. His eyes landed on the little mare and for a second, they searched for someone she may be pairing herself up with, once he realized she had come alone he let out a sigh of relief perhaps. Soon however the newfound relief sparked curiosity, a wonder on why she had come all alone. He wasn't foolish enough to believe she knew he had caught her scent or that she had wanted him to come with her, so who was she here for?
He let out a small huff as he began to walk up to her, his eyes trained on her. His gaze spoke of danger, possessiveness, and something more carnal. Desire maybe? Either way, the look he was giving her wasn't something he shared with others, it was something only she had drawn from him so far. She had annoyed him with her persistence at first but now he found it somewhat charming. Her outgoing nature had made him want to push her away but now he found him needing to protect her. And the worst part of it all? He wasn't sure if he wanted her to leave him alone anymore. He had been able to push her away and keep her away before he had to save her, and then she had named the liger cub and insisted on him keeping it. Who at the moment had figured out he could snuggle up on his owner's back and sleep, even if it meant every once in a while, small claws dug into his back he did not care. Abaddon had grown fond of this cub but every time he looked at him all he could think of was her. He would think of her humming and singing that silly little song of hers while she followed behind him, how she leaned against him in the winter when it was cold after she had been hurt, even how she decorated his hair with flowers and berries. You know he quite liked how he had looked with the red berries she had found; it had made her happy and he still felt a little eerie.
Before he could bump into her, she began to walk into the crowd and for a moment he worried she saw the person she had come from, and a rush of jealousy and possessiveness shot through him and settled deep within his bones. His eyes shot around and then settled back on her when he realized there still was no one new and he tilted his head at her, maybe just maybe she was looking for him after all. His legs moved on their own, moving toward her as if he was on autopilot. His head lowered and he couldn't help himself from brushing against her, seemingly on accident as he lowered his head to be near her ear. Both to see how much it surprised her but also because he didn't want others to hear him as he spoke; after all, he was barely happy with talking to her, he had no reason for others to hear the words he wished to share with her. "Hello Chrysanthemum." his voice was deep, husky, it screamed of seduction and possibly even the danger he brought with him. He didn't speak to her often but if she had come here seeking companionship or maybe even him, he would be happy to oblige just this once. "Why are you here, flower? Are you searching for someone else now?" the words came off as playful, but you couldn't ignore the edge to his voice, he wasn't one to share especially when they had just started to enjoy each other's company.
His eyes drew down to the small pool in front of them and he stared at her from the reflection in the water, he never could deny she was beautiful. Her appearance was all soft except for the thorns braided into her hair, it gave her something sharp to combat all of her sweetness. He turned his eyes back to her face, curiosity shone in his eyes. She was all the good he wasn't, and he would protect her from everything, except maybe himself. After all, where is the fun in that? He wanted to be selfish as long as he possibly could be with her. Right as he opened his mouth to speak again you could hear a small mew come from his back followed by a yawn, and he could feel the liger cub stretch as his claws dug into his back. His face didn't give away the slight pain from it, he didn't mind either way. The cub leaned over to look over at Chrys and chuffed at the sight of her he was just as happy to see her as Abaddon was. The kitten did enjoy all the affection and attention that Chrysanthemum showered him with after all. Abaddon shook his head slightly, clearly amused by the cat.

She was making her way back into the world after nearly a year out of it. First attending the Neutral Royal coronation, which had gone off without a hitch. She wouldn't deny that she was a little disappointed that nothing had happened - she'd been eager for some action - but she'd agreed to be on her best behavior for Zana's sake. So many changes in Royal positions since she'd last been a part of the world. She couldn't ever say she would respect any of them, even now that she was out of the Helkaer. She'd never been good at listening to any authority, something that had followed her from childhood. The circumstances of her birth were to blame - born to a slave in a land where slaves were supposed to be forbidden, the firstborn of one of the leads. Perhaps there was a universe where she had inherited the crown of Dark Woods instead of going on to become the Helkaer Commander. She wouldn't change anything, though. This was where she was supposed to be in the world, doing whatever she wished with the one she loved and their four terror children. They were over a year old now. Respira sincerely wished now that she was done with children. This was the second time she'd been startled by a surprise pregnancy and she did not want to go a third time, though the circumstances of this past pregnancy were stranger than she could have ever realized. Things were truly changing in Wild Equines. The Afterlife grew more and more powerful by the day.
Which is why she found it hilarious that an event like this had been announced when the immortals were at war.
However, she was not going to pass up this opportunity. It was time for her to spend with Zana and also time to observe some other couples that also decided to do an event like this during a war. If she was going to come back into the world, then she needed to start gathering information on others again, just like she used to. In fact, it might be easier this time now that she wasn't an immediately recognizable face. Her brand had been gone for some time now and her most significant feature was her extensive burn scars. So, time for the games to begin.
She made her way toward the Freelands, her hooves carrying her to Crystal Pools. She couldn't criticize this particular spot being chosen. She was not a romantic, but it was one of the prettiest of the Freelands, even she had to admit. Apparently there would be activities going on for this particular event. Respira wondered what kinds of things they had in mind. She stifled a chuckle and continued on to the main area, where she could see others had also gathered. Five of them so far. She and Zana now made seven. She thought she recognized at least two of them from the Neutral coronation. Important figures, perhaps? She needed to start learning names again. "Let's see how this goes, hmmm?" she mused outloud to Zana.

When Galaxy approached her about a couples retreat, her immediate answer was yes followed by many doubts towards such an event. With the absolute craziness both herself and Galaxy had experienced recently, not to mention the entire land currently fighting a war, it seemed the perfect time for a getaway. Even still, why were there feelings of selfishness? Uncertainty was trying to tell her she couldn't go, yet regardless she agreed and was excited for it. She couldn't shake the feeling of guilt for being so excited at such a dark time for Wild Equines, so she decided to just carry it with her. Galaxy seemed thoroughly excited to go to such an event, and knew more details than Kynneta so she left it up to him for the specifics. In the meantime, this would not only give them a moment to each other, but also give Kynneta a break from being a mother. Varek and Presto were worth everything to her, but being a mother was exhausting. Even still, she wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. With a partner like Galaxy alongside her, she sometimes felt as if she could accomplish anything. Every day was a blessing to her, no matter how tired she was with Presto. She thought Varek gave her a run for her money when he was younger - Presto was more devious. The little mischief-maker was so explorative she felt like tying a vine around him to keep him on a leash. With babysitters set up in Eacarrah, Kynneta could finally take a moment to breathe.
Since Galaxy had handled the details about the event, it came to a pleasant surprise when he led her to where they first met - Crystal Pools. This place held an enormous place in her heart, for Galaxy had forever changed her world here. It was after Crystal Pools that she would make the mistake of joining the Versai, but putting that side, this canyon was a pivotal point in her life. It was where she fell in love. She remembered standing in one of the cavern's hot springs and staring at the moon and stars through an opening into the sky. Optics flickered to a lavender hue, nearly sparking as she looked at the familiar surroundings. Well, this should be fun. Her lavender hues glanced to meet his silver optics. They were both brimming with excitement and reminiscence. Her audits twitched around as other equines gathered around them for the event, all in their respectful pairs. It felt a little awkward being around so many with such feelings of love, but when her gaze met Galaxy's, those feelings diminished. Nothing mattered to her right now except for the exorbitant amount of love she felt towards the ebonite brute alongside her, in the place where it all began. This is amazing.

Couple's Retreat.
Zoran had never heard of such an event before, though he admittedly could not say that he paid all that much attention to the social happenings in the lands of Wild Equines, unless they directly impacted his family. Certainly he had not heard of this event, much less planned on attending it.
Yet despite all of the above, the grey stallion found his hooves carrying him along the path that would lead into the land known as Crystal Pools. Whatever innumerable deficiencies Zoran possessed, Speaking Rain did not. Or that was his belief, at any rate. A man was allowed to hold the bias that the woman he loved was the most perfect in all the world, wasn't he? And though he might not have necessarily started out with the realization of the depth of his feelings... time and difficult trials had cured him of that folly. Especially considering the fact that, within the last couple of years, he had come so terrifyingly close to losing her again.
Truly, Zoran did try not to hover too much like some kind of overgrown, stallion-shaped mother hen... but the memory always sent chills through him. And the only peace he could find at those times was reassuring himself that she was fine. Safe, alive, and well. He could not quite help reaching to briefly brush his muzzle lightly against her shoulder as they neared Crystal Pools. This time was for them to enjoy together, not get wallowed in painful memory. What precisely that was going to entail, Zoran honestly did not have the first idea. Rain was the one who had found out about the event and the one who had decided an outing such as this would do them good.
So, here he was, stepping into Crystal Pools with nary an idea of what to expect, but knowing he was with Rain and that above all else was really the one factor that truly mattered. Peripherally, he was aware of other equines present, but had eyes only for the painted femmora he had followed all the way from Jade Mire. In all honesty, Zana could not predict where the hell her life would be a year from any point in time. She'd started her life here in the dark herds, then was stolen away to the Helkaer, and from there it sort of swung wildly. She'd had several foals with either absentee or pieces of shit for fathers, was part of the Vigilum for some time, had to escape more than one forest fire, witnessed the earth crack open wide- and on a different occassion- was one of the first to answer the call of the newfound Elysian Rivers. The royals were a blur and she marked off time by each disaster, instead of change of season. Fortunately, among all the chaos and ruin in the world, she'd managed to save her lover from the fire that brutally took others. It'd been a hell of a ride-
and then she'd gotten pregnant again.
She wasn't sure what to call it. A miracle, maybe? But she'd never heard of the Afterlife being capable of such things before; to allow her to bear children without a stallion. Strange things had always been present in the land, but now Zana was beginning to wonder if it was coming to some sort of head. The dead were at war again, but it stretched beyond their realm more than ever before. With mortals dragged into the mix, it'd become an even bigger mess. Considering she had four foals to keep alive, Zana wasn't too upset that she was staying out of the way, deep within the freelands.
Of course, things couldn't stay that way forever.
No, just recently her and Respira had taken it upon themselves to attend the coronation for the newest Neutral Queen. A position that was often left empty, though this time it was much more personal than usual. Her niece was missing; no trace of her. It'd been enough to draw Zana back from her maternal duties and interest her in the screwed up politics of the world again. The children were all yearlings now, and big enough to survive without her having to be there all day and night. Respira seemed to share the desire to delve into society again and find out what they could. She'd expected some sort of drama at the coronation, but it'd gone smoothly. Now, she'd heard of this romantic event, meant for couples to relax and connect. Zana had thought it a little silly at first, but the more she considered it, the more alluring it was. From what she'd seen, long-term couples weren't exactly a commodity. Sure, everyone had children with each other (hell, she was sure everyone was related by now), but not many partnerships stayed strong. Either that, or they'd dwindle away or leave all together. She wondered just who this sort of event would draw out. Would Alistair and Kalila be interested in such a thing? Perhaps it'd just be a lot of young couples, fixated with puppylove and no one she had encountered before. Either way, she was keen to find out and observe what she could... in addition to spending a night (childfree) with her mate.
Of all the places to gather, Crystal Pools definitely wasn't the worst choice. It wasn't somewhere that Zana had often visited and she regretted that a little, considering how beautiful and pristine it was. There was always something else happening in the Swamp of Sadness or she had to go fight her brother at a volcano- neither great vacation spots. She stifled a sigh, wondering if someday this place would have a bad connotation attached to it too. With a shake of her head, she decided to not dwell on the negatives (or the ongoing war) and keep her head in the moment. There was something almost amusing about walking into Crystal Pools for a romantic night with Respira and a bunch of strangers. "Let's see how this goes, hmm?" well, Respira sounded interested and it earned a bit of a smirk from Zana. "A romantic evening, beneath a full moon, in one of the most beautiful places with one of the most beautiful ladies," she remarked with a mischievous glint to her eyes, "I don't care how the rest of them fair, because I'm already having a good time."

x SPEAKING RAIN With the quads old enough, and trustworthy enough, the fend for themselves, it had been Rain's idea to come to the Couple's Retreat that was being offered in Crystal Pools. Zoran had been hesitant at first, but had eventually agreed to the retreat. Rain thought it would be nice to go and have fun with just Zoran, and not have to worry so much about anyone else. Just the two of them, when normally, it was at least six of them at a minimum. Not that she ever minded. She loved her mate, their children, and the daughter she considered her own despite having no blood relation to her, as well as her child. Life had treated Rain harshly up until finding Zoran again, and she was more than happy to spend all the time in the world with him. The gentle touch to her shoulder as they walked made her smile. He was always so gentle and kind to her. Always had been, from the time they'd first met. Blind as she was, Rain could not see anything or anyone around her, but as they neared and then entered Crystal Pools, she could easily pick up the scents and the sounds of her environment. Her smile grew and she gently leaned into Zoran, letting him guide her safely around the pools of water that she knew would be scattered about. She could find her way on her own, if she had to, but she liked allowing him to help her. Because she knew she could trust him to not allow anything bad to happen to her.
