The light rain has turned into a mild downpour that comes down faster than the sand can absorb and the sky is completely black. There is low visibility and though the ice has mostly melted, leaving behind puddles in the sand, there are still some patches of ice. The rain is cold and the wind has gotten stronger, so be careful rearing. The thunder is loud and thelightning is almost directly overhead. The storm is getting closer. The sand in the center of the ring is where the deeper puddles are. Some of them may be an inch or two deep so be careful where you step. Please include past injuries and somewhere in the notes section please say if you have lost before. Failure to do either of these things will result in loss of points. Remember that you must not go over 1000 words. Two posts each with three days to reply.
@cats will go first with Serena followed by me with Mudvayne.

Once again Serena was standing in the arena. The blood from previous fights had been washed away by the pouring rain and her own wounds had stopped bleeding, the rain had washed the cut above her eye clean and she was sure it would not get infected. A few hours had passed since her last battle with the great palomino stallion. It had been the most memorable fight so far, even though they had fought each other for the title of honor, they both had been very respectful and had not made any nasty attacks. Afterwards she had showed gratitude for the impressive fight and she could not help but wonder what gave this stallion an appearance of great horse. She was sure he had endured a lot in fights, how else could someone be that respectful? The other horses she had fought so far had been full of themselves, the world had centered around them. And yet, this horse that was obviously bigger had been less cocky. Serena would not soon forget him and she actually hoped they would meet again, though not in the battle ground. He had ignited her curiosity. It was of no matter for now, she had a new battle to focus on. As she walked into the arena, Serena shook her head to get rid of the water drops that tickled her eyes after playing with her forelock. She had come to enjoy the rain. Most equines would probably not agree with her, but the rain had a calm and serene effect on her. She took long strides to warm up her muscles and was glad to feel she could still walk on her swollen leg. It had looked worse at first but because of the cool rain caressing her entire body, the swelling had been kept under control. Under these circumstances she was doing pretty well and was only hold back a little bit by her front left leg.
As she neared the center of the battlefield she eyed her next opponent. In front of her a seal brown horse was standing, though he was looking almost grey. He was at least a few inches shorter than Serena, it was obvious as she was getting closer to him. Though he was shorter, his build was more muscled than her body. As the Arabian blood was clearly visible in Serena, it could not be missed that he had warmblood lines running through his veins. She would not be so foolish to get over-confident because she was taller, because she knew appearance could deceive. With him standing like a rock it was easy to misread him, so she would not make the mistake to judge him before she had seen what he was capable of. Inspecting him further she could see he had some small wounds on his head. It was probably best to try and hit those spots again, as that might be more painful than trying to cause new wounds. To Serena’s relieve the ice had started to melt and there were only a few small spots left, which would not be difficult to dodge. She could run faster and attack more daringly this time as she felt more safe under these circumstances. The wind was picking up its speed and it came rushing into the tournament ring, catching Serena off guard. Thick locks of her long hair were blown across her face, blocking her eyes. Not being able to see what her enemy was doing now, she quickly shook her head to get rid of the stray hairs.
Readying herself for battle, she spoke words of encouragement to herself. Adrenaline started to rush through her veins, making her muscles ready to do their duty. She knew she was ready when she felt her heartbeat pumping loud through her head. With great force, she rushed towards the stallion, hoping that the speed itself would impress him. Serena knew where she wanted to attack. In every other fight her opponent had attacked her first and she was only able to react instinctively. But in this fight she was in control and she was going to try and show the warmblood the amount of control that gave her. Though she moved with great speed it was not her intention to slam into the stallion. As she got really close to him she threw all her weight on her hind legs, gliding for a few meter and slowing down rapidly. She rose up on her hind legs, gaining a lot of height. She thought it would be better to not attack with too much force with her swollen leg, so instead she gathered all the force she could find and then used it to try and slam her right hoof into the left side of his head. As her body neared the ground again, she lashed out with her teeth, aiming to bite in his neck, hoping to inflict a deep cut. A red haze of passion and anger was blurring her vision so she was not sure if she had hit him, but she would not give him the chance to attack easy. She trotted away a few paces to create some space between them and to regain herself.

Fifteen point three hands of muscle walked back and forth outside of the arena. He was not allowing himself to stand still and he ignored the pain in his left knee. He did not allow himself to limp as he paced to and fro, waiting for the next round to begin. Mudvayne was tired but excited. So far he had been doing quite well in this tournament, though he had lost one of the battles, but he was determined not to lose again. He had a plan. He was going to use the wind and rain and patches of ice to his advantage. Hopefully his opponent would try and rear (a stupid idea considering how windy it was) so that he could attack her sensitive underbelly. However, he wasn't going to underestimate her because if she had gotten this far in the tournament she was obviously a good fighter... but that didn't make her the best.
As a pair of fighters left the arena, the two year old snorted and pranced forward. He didn't see the mare anywhere so he figured she would be coming after him. Readying himself, he stood still and closed his eyes, breathing deeply until he heard hoof steps. He then opened his eyes and smirked. Serena, the mare was called. She was taller than he was but that didn't mean she was powerful. Her build was that of an Arab while his was built more along the lines of a Danish warmblood. He stared at her, waiting for her to make the first move. He braced himself, eyes narrowing, his smirk growing as the mare charged toward him. Not a smart move, my dear, he thought, calmly watching as she slid to a stop and then, much to his delight, reared up.
He moved quickly but it wasn't quick enough to get out of the way of her hoof. It hit him just behind his left ear but he ignored it. Instead, he lunged toward the mare as she reared, reaching out with his teeth to try and tear at her stomach, all while trying to knock her over. If he could get her on the ground than this battle would be over. He would kill her, or try to, anyway. He doubted killing was allowed in the tournament... Oh well.
When she came to bite his neck, he jerked away from her, bolting forward a few strides. His hind hoof caught on a patch of ice and he slipped, narrowly avoiding falling down completely. Steadying himself, he turned to look at her. His eyes were narrowed as he observed her, looking for her weakest points. He looked for open wounds but it was hard to see through the rain. Shrugging, the beast trotted forward, careful to watch where he was putting his feet, and simply trotted a circle around her, keeping out of biting and kicking range which was just close enough for him to see her injuries. A grim smile spread across his lips and he chuckled as he slowed his pace, stopping at her left side. He had locked onto his target.
Lunging forward, his ears pinned, Mudvayne went for the upper portion of the left side of the mare's neck. He aimed right were the tear in her skin was. He sought to rip it open, forcing it to bleed again, the more blood the better. But he didn't stick around to see if his attack had landed. Instead, he whipped around and bucked, kicking out his hind limbs once, hoping to hit her neck or side. He knew it had been a wrong move the moment his left front leg gave out. He cursed under his breath as he slid forward, scrambling to get back onto his feet. He would have to be more careful next time. It seemed his leg was too weak to support that sort of attack which meant he was going to have to get creative.
ooc: he has lost once before.

She stood across the small stallion, regaining her breath for a little while. She had a few moments to rethink how the battle so far had gone, as the equine in front of her took his time finding a weak spot, circling around Serena. Her first attack had hit her target, she had been successful to smash down her hoof on his head. It would probably leave a swelling behind his left ear, at least Serena hoped for that. Shortly after her attack he had taken advantage of her rear and he had bitten Serena in the belly, just behind her front legs. A small cut that was about two inches long now decorated her skin. It was only a minor wound and even if it did leave a scar it would not be easily noticeable. Looking down on her opponent as she had still been rearing she observed his movements. It looked like he was trying to attack her again, but this time she would make sure he failed his attack. She would only be exposed to an attack once and not make the same mistake twice. Serena turned her upper body to the side after which she landed safely on her hoofs, noticing how he missed his target and only slammed into thin air. It’s almost ridiculous. Lucky for him I show respect to my opponents, otherwise I would have laughed at this attempt. I might be a woman and my body may be light build, but I am swift and a quick thinker. Did he honestly think he could knock me over? Serena’s second attack had been less effective. As she had aimed to bite the horse in his neck he had pulled his head away from here, causing his neck to get out of her reach. The fact that he had so easily dodged the attack annoyed her, but that feeling didn’t last for long. Just as he had darted away he had slipped over a small patch of ice. Serena could not help it but an amused laugh had escaped her lips. There are only few ice patches left on the field and he manages to slip on one of them. How amusing! She pulled herself out of her thoughts, as –apparently- the stallion had finished circling around her. A smile crossed his face, which was a bit odd to Serena. Had he not clumsily slipped over a small patch of ice moments before? What reason can he possibly have to have such a smile glued to his face? All of the sudden he bolted forward, going so fast she had too little time to comprehend what was happening. He was almost on top of Serena when he lashed out with his teeth, tearing her old wound open again. Blood was spilled all over her neck and a dull pain was bugging her neck. She had no time to think about good places to hit him, it had all gone so fast. Instinctively she turned her head towards the stallion as he was cutting her neck and lashed out with her teeth, hoping to bite any part of his neck or maybe tear out some of his mane. After that Serena twisted her body away from him a bit, getting her head further away from the stallion and his but closer. She then bucked and kicked out as hard as she could, hoping to hit any part of the horse. She did not care where she hit him, but all she was thinking of now was that she wanted him to be hurt. Smirking at me. Smiling at me. You’re freaking annoying me. Let’s see if this attack wipes that smile off of your face. It seemed as if she had gathered all her annoyance and converted it to force, putting it all in her attack. She would let him know that she was to be taken seriously, and equines like this fellow only motivated her more to win. She would become Gladiator, nothing else mattered to her now. What the fuck was wrong with him? He wasn't focusing on the battle. It had been quite a long time since he had fought but he still thought he would have been able to focus on a simple fight. Then again, these fights weren't exactly simple. He was used to having time between battles to heal his wounds but this tournament... there was barely enough time to catch his breath between fights. It all happened so quickly. Just minutes ago he had been outside of the arena and now here he was fighting this mare that was kicking his ass. He was disappointed in himself and knew that if his father could see him now, he would be laughing. That made Mudvayne cringe, his eyes narrowing as he gazed at the mare. His green orbs were locked onto her body, ready for whatever move she would make. He needed to pay closer attention to her. He had underestimated the taller vixen at first. She was quick. His attack on her stomach hadn't been as bad as he had hoped it would be, just a small tear in her skin, hardly enough to taste her blood on his tongue. His second attack where he tried to push her over had been dodged and he ended up skidding to a stop, his hooves sinking into a puddle. He snorted, wrenching his hooves away from it, and turning his body to face the mare. She was good, he had to give her that.
Her laughter at his momentary slip on the ice made his harks pin back into his chestnut streaked man. He snorted and snapped his teeth at her. How dare she mock him. He was showing her respect by not laughing at her mistake by rearing, the least she could do was respect him as well. He had just been unlucky to step right on one of the few remaining patches of ice. It was a mistake that she herself could have made, so why she was laughing didn't quite make sense to him. He wanted to bash her skull in out of annoyance but he kept himself composed. His head was throbbing and he felt faintly dizzy. Taking two hard attacks to his skull wasn't the best thing, but he wasn't about to let it stop him from trying his hardest. The world may be slightly spinning around him, but he could still fight. He would just have to find some way to focus better. Though he had to admit he couldn't wait for this tournament to be over so he could rest. If he moved onto the next round and got a third injury to his head... he would probably have to back out of the tournament. Two hits was annoying, but three hits could cause serious damage, especially if he was kicked by a bigger horse.
At least his next attack had hit its mark. Blood flowed freely into his mouth as he ripped the old injury open again and he spat it out into the sand. He smirked, waiting for her reaction. It came quickly and though he moved his head away, she still managed to break open the skin where his neck met his jaw. The blood slowly trickled out and he took a few hurried steps back, sorting and tossing his head. She was a swift little devil. He actually admired that. He still wanted to bash her skull in, but at least if he lost he would lose to someone worth losing again. Kind of, anyway. Mudvayne continued to back up but he hadn't gotten far enough away from her hooves. They landed in the center of his chest and he huffed out a breath, blinking and struggling for a moment to catch his breath. Growling, he loped forward, coming along the right side of the mare and biting at her neck and shoulder. He then turned slightly and kicked out with one back leg, aiming for her right hind leg. Legs were important to a horse. If he could damage one of them... maybe then she would think twice about hurting him again.
ooc: he has lost once before.
