The damp air from the past storm has swiftly disappeared. Instead, the terrain made a quick transition from the chillier weather to that of a more scorching side. Everything has dried out. What foliage is available is brittle, and crunches beneath the hooves of any equines. The sun is intense. Gazing towards the horizon you can see thermals rising from the hard ground. Being in the direct sunlight for mere moments will cause easy perspiration, and it will be difficult to exert oneself considering the heat. Three days to reply. No posts over 1000 words. Post previous injuries and how many losses that they have.
@deadlysecrets will post first with Killswitch followed by @cats with Serena.

Once more the figurative bell tolled to signal yet another round of the Gladiator battles. The smoky black stag was really feeling the beatings his body had been taking lately. Of all the injuries the most damaging ones were the ones beneath the skin. This round was unlike any of the others as far as weather went. He was so used to fighting in cold weather with unstable ground. That was not at all the case now. The closer he got to the arena to greater the heat felt upon his tattered hide. His movements were slow since his right front leg was now the home to a minute canon bone fracture. None of his injuries were going to stop him. It wasn’t inside of this beast to just quite because he had a boo-boo. Of course it wasn’t wise for him to keep on competing but he was going to anyway.
This opponent was a horse he had seen before. Some of her scars were because of him. It was going to be nice to see the beautiful wench again, or not so beautiful depending on how badly the other gladiators had roughed her up. He tried not to stare at the rising heat in the distance as he walked over the cracked and dry earth. Even though the ground was much sturdier than before the hard earth would send more shock waves through his limbs which wasn’t good for his leg at all. Killswitch shook his aching head as he took his spot at the center of the arid arena. Now it was time for the timid whore to arrive so this fight could begin. Killswitch had to remind Jet that he had to remained focused on the fight this time and not his opponent’s body. That thought process had nearly lost them the fight last time they went against Serena. He really wanted to find some shade to get away from the heat but that option wasn’t available and his pelt began to glisten with sweat. Winter was officially gone from these lands.
She approached and he smirked a devilish smirk towards her. Would she remember him or the three large gashes she had left on his chest? They were scabbed and tugged at his skin but at least they weren’t bleeding anymore. “Welcome back, sweetie.” Jet sneered menacingly towards her. It was time to let the fighting begin once again. His head was held high and he walked with a limp. There would be no hiding the pain that came from the leg, his limp gave it away. All he had to do was be on the defensive and he would survive this day. At this point surviving was all he could do. Rearing and bucking weren’t options for him but that didn’t bother him. His teeth could do just as much damage. Each step was slow, the heat and his concussion made things a bit sluggish for him- mainly the heat. His brain was messed up to begin with so he was used to that. Lone ear pinned to his skull as he got closer to the mare. What he expected was for her to come out swinging so he made sure to keep himself on high alert in case he was proven right.
Killswitch’s blunt ivories lashed out at the scar laden wench with ferocity, his pace sped up the closer he got. He was determined to give as much damage despite his obvious handicap in this battle. Where he aimed was the left side of Serena’s face and neck. Killswitch was making sure to keep the left side of his body towards the wench so reaching his injured leg would potentially be more difficult. Maw opened and closed multiple times, using a wolf tearing into meat action with an intention to fillet the mare’s face and/or neck. All he wanted was to feel the warmth of crimson blood drip down his jaw and whether or not he got that satisfaction was directly related to if he had managed to do a successful attack or not.
The smoky beast’s attack ended abruptly because he wanted to leave Serena confused or left thinking what was going to happen next. Also, it was getting damned hot and his pelt had sweat beads all over it. Killswitch awkwardly trotted off a few feet from his adversary and turned to face her. Sweat was seeping into the gaping wound on his right shoulder making it sting like hell. This battle would be interesting since his temporary handicap was seriously limiting the amount of attacks he could do. His nostrils flared wide as he tried to catch his breath in the scorching heat. It sounded like there were a hundred bees inside of his concuss head. Today was going to suck, that was for sure.

Winning last round to go to the next one hadn’t been hard for Serena. She had walked into the arena, calculated all risks and observed what the best course of action would be. She had prepared her mind and tensed her muscles, lunged out to attack her opponent. It was then that he had yielded. Serena had no idea why. It probably wasn’t because she looked very intimidating or anything. Maybe he had just been too wounded to fight another round and after seeing that he was being charged at, her opponent had decided he had had enough beatings. It was not the most honorable way to win, but the mare was glad she had advanced another round. And it was yet again time to prove herself on the field of battle. The weather had turned around to it’s opposite extreme. From snow, rain and ice cold wind it had changed to a bright, dry scorching air. Breathing was more difficult as the air that entered her lungs made the tissue dry out. Sweat trickled down her body, leaving darker trails behind on her coat. Simple movements like trotting took its toll, even though she wasn’t extremely wounded. With this weather it did not matter how many wounds one had, this round it was about who had more stamina to withstand the heat. As she was walking through the entrance into the arena she noticed small flowers that had gotten an overdose of sunlight and they hung towards the ground. Some were even blackened and dried out. With each step she took small dust clouds rose from the ground and clung to the hairs on her leg, changing the colour a bit. It wasn’t very bad when just walking, but if some serious attacks were performed larger dust clouds could be formed that would rise up into the air until they were inhaled, making Serena’s dry throat even dryer. She just wanted to get over with this fight. In front of her, her opponent was waiting for her. She stopped with an immediate halt, recognizing the stallion. She had fought him before in the tournament and frankly, his behavior had scared her. His attacks were straight to the point and intended to seriously hurt her. Even though this was just a game, with this enemy she was actually scared of getting wounded life threatening. In spite of the heat, she would have to make sure she would dodge his attacks, as attacks with his full weight and force behind it could ground her. The idea of the fight scared Serena a bit, but that did not make her less determined to win this round. She had come this far and she would have to advance further still, she would be ashamed if she would loose this late in the games. She had already proven one of her points though, mares were strong just like stallions and you should not mess with them, just because they are of a different gender. Killswitch recognized Serena as well, judging from his greeting. Not wanting to show her fear, Serena raised her head and snorted loudly. She looked boldly at him, showing that he should bring it on. Slowly at first but quickening his strides, the stallion closed in into Serena. He had a limp in his leg though and Serena immediately recognized this as his weak spot. Soon he was within attack distance of her and he lashed out with his teeth, gripping some skin in between them. He shook his head to the left, tearing of the piece of skin. Again he bit into her skin, this time a bit higher and just below her eye and he jerked his head to the right, causing another piece of skin to leave her muscle tissue. A searing pain entered her face and before he could grip her face again she turned it away, avoiding any more damage. She walked to steps forward, getting closer to his butt. She lifted up her left leg and with all the power she could find she tried to dig her hoof into his hind left lower leg. Immediately after that she lashed out with her teeth, aiming to bite in his side, hoping to cause a cut that would bleed nicely.

Well, it seemed as if the wench hadn’t wanted to give Killswitch a breather. That was fine with him, he was used to it. His last opponent hadn’t let him rest either though that had been all Jet’s fault for starting the trend. The lack of rest for him would mean a lack of rest for her as well. This was a two-way road of heat and thick air. A cloud of dust rose into the air as the two horses danced their dangerous dance. Jet was angry that they had such a weakness during this fight. Weakness was not a good thing to have, it meant a disadvantage. This lack of rest meant he didn’t know if he had managed to do any damage with his first attack. Sweat began to trickle down his neck. His black pelt was a magnet for the heat and he was feeling the full effect. At least he wasn’t standing still long enough for the rising thermals to make him nauseous. The black stag had only made it a mere two steps away before the wench was upon him. Lucky enough for this bastard Serena was attacking his left side and not his right- damaged- side. He might not have seen her clearly with all of the disorientation going on within his damaged brain but he could sure as hell hear her.
Out of paranoia for his right side Jet had made them side step ever so slightly to the right. It wasn’t enough to escape all of the damage but it was enough that there would be no damage to the ligaments there, or another fracture. He had known the second he heard her approach he wouldn’t be able to move fast enough to escape the attack. All he had to do was move just enough to avoid life-threatening damage; Jet really hated being on the defensive. The side-step had put added stress onto his fractured right leg but the new pain on his hind left leg masked the original pain for now. Her hoof had managed to slice the outside of the skin covering his metatarsus; blood immediately began to trickle from the wound. His blood gave some moisture to the otherwise completely dried out earth. There had been absolutely no time for him to prepare for her second attack. Jet couldn’t even pretend he had had a millisecond to prepare. This time the smoky black beast took the hit full on. Jet let out a demonic sounding growl as he felt her teeth pull and rip the flesh on his barrel. She hadn’t managed to tear just any flesh but flesh that had started to think about healing. The bitch had reopened the deep wound on the left side of his barrel. That was incredibly rude of her to do. Even more of his blood was mixing with the dusty ground. Oh shit, the dust; that wasn’t going to be a good combination with open wounds. As soon as the fight was over he was going to have to clean his wounds so infections didn’t start forming. He had enough problems as it was.
Though he was exhausted and his nostrils were flaring at full capacity to ensure he had enough oxygen Jet turned as fast as he possibly could with a bum leg. His left side was now close to her right side; as like before he kept his right side away from his attacker. Ivories once again bared as he threw his head as fast as he could in the general direction of the mare’s neck. The movement disoriented him slightly but he didn’t give a damn since he was currently seeing red and being fueled by his own pain. He didn’t grab at her multiple times as he had done previously. This time it was one assault from his mouth. One attempted grab and rip, that was all for that. Before he could even see if he had done any damage at all Killswith reared to half height and struck out with both legs as he aimed for the right side of her barrel. As he landed the beast was careful not to land with most of his weight on his right leg. His hind leg groaned slightly but not as much as his fractured leg and he limped away as fast as he could then turned quickly again because he didn’t want to leave his back to the mare. His green optics blasted her with a vicious look. This battle wouldn’t mark the end of their encounters. Sweat covered his entire body as he breathed heavily from all of the exertion. Killswitch kept his focus on the mare and not the hazy horizon.
