The Whore House. She'd been here before, but the smell and the sounds still got to her. She wrinkled her nose as she approached one of the entrances to the monster's home, grimacing. This was not how she wanted to spend her day, but alas, it was all a part of being a Versai and doing her duties. Really, no one had asked her to do this, though. It was something she had decided to do on her own. She wanted to know what the mainland leaders thought about the Helkaer, if there was any chance of perhaps bringing them over onto the Light side. She doubted a man like Charm would ever seek to be cleansed, but it was still important that she visit each leader so, here she was, rounded hooves pressing down against compact soil. This path seemed like it was heavily traveled, and that made her nervous. She walked slowly, but with a purpose, head held high and ears at a constant swivel. She didn't like that it got darker the further down the path she went, the constant streams of moans and screams and cries making her uneasy. Every other step, she was looking over her shoulder, expecting to see someone lurking behind her but no one magically appeared. No. It was just her, walking, alone. Still rather creepy, if you asked her. I can't believe these creeps actually live here. She snorted, shaking her head and turning it to face forward again, only for her steps to falter, head rising in surprise. There, just ahead, having appeared seemingly out of nowhere, was a grullo figure. He was obviously of mixed heritage but held the thick build of a draft. He was taller than her by almost a hand, and his face was expressionless. He stood there in the shadows, staring at her, making no sound. Trinity stared back, body tense, waiting for him to attack, or to speak, to do anything. A beat passed, however, and he did nothing but stare at her. It was unnerving, to say the least.
Clearing her throat, Trinity flicked her tail and parted her maw to address the beast. "I am Allocen, of the Versai. I assume you are one of Charm's guards?" The grullo blinked at her. No smile, no sound, no even a simple twitch of his ears. "Yes," he finally said and when he spoke his voice was that of a monotone, lifeless and creepy. He gave no further explanation so the buckskin mare cleared her throat once more and spoke again. "I've come to speak with him. Bring me to him." It probably was stupid to be giving someone like this guard commands, especially when he had the upper hand. For all she knew, she could be surrounded right now. More guards could be hinding in the trees, like this guy supposedly had been doing. He peered at her for a moment, eyes void, before finally nodding his head. "Follow me then, Miss Allocen." Still the same monotone. She was officially creeped out. But she followed him nonetheless, surprised that a body so large could turn around so quickly in a space so small. They did not speak as they walked, and Trinity had to focus on keeping herself calm. There was something about Charm's home that just creeped her out. She hated it here, but hopefully, this guard would take her straight to him and not lead her into a death trap.
They emerged into a large clearing after a couple more minutes of walking and intense silence. Trinity blinked her eyes to adjust to the brightness, looking around, taking in all that there was to see around her. It sickened her to see the happenings of the place. Bodies being dragged to mass graves. Couples (dare she even call them couples) engaging in sex act out in the open, sometimes with a crowd gathered around them. She felt her heart breaking for the ones that were obviously slaves. They had looks of such sadness on their faces... and yet others seemed to be enjoying the attention. She knew what Charm did to his slaves, though. She knew how she tricked and manipulated them. So maybe they really were enjoying the attention, enjoying working for Charm. How... sad. How scary. She turned her head away, not wanting to stare, and continued following the grullo. He wasn't leading her towards the building, as she had expected him to, but off to the side, towards a lake. In the distance, she could just barely make out Charm.
The shire was watching them as they approached, standing knee deep in the water. Trinity did her best not to glare at him, even going so far as to give the smallest nod of her head in a "respectful" greeting once she was close enough for him to make out who she was. She saw a look of recognization cross over his devilishly handsome face, a charming smile spreading across his maw. "Allocen, my dear girl!" he called out to her and his voice made the mare's skin crawl. "It's been so long! What do I owe the honor?" He motioned with his head towards the guard and the grullo tipped his head, wordlessly walking away from them, leaving just her and the mastermind behind this hell on earth. She stepped towards the edge of the water, the edges of it lapping at her front hooves. "Hello, Charm. I've come to discuss the Helkaer."
She watched amusement twinkle in his eyes, his head cocking to the side to look at her. She could feel his eyes raking over her body. It made her self-conscious, but she didn't show it, standing tall and proud. "Oh? What about them?" he asked her. "Your views on them. If you support them." A chuckle left the brute. She couldn't help but shift her weight uncomfortably, body tensing as he began to walk towards her, step by step, the water splashing around his legs. "Why so curious, sweetheart?" His tone was teasing. Trinity's ears twitched backward and she shrugged her shoulders, keeping a careful eye on him the closer he got. "Because the enemy of my enemy is my friend," she said back, keeping her own tone neutral. Careful. Again, he laughed at her. "Are you saying that we're friends, Allocen? Had I known that I would have invited you to join in on my bath." He was right in front of her now, close enough that Trinity had to start to tilt her head back to look at him. It made her skin crawl to have him this close, but she forced herself to smile. "Maybe next time." Hopefully that would be the end of his flirting, but knowing Charm, it wouldn't be. "I came here to talk, Charm, not to bathe." With luck, that would direct the conversation back to where she wanted it to go.
"Ah, right. The helkaer." He grinned down at her, black eyes peering at her from behind a veil of ebony. "I am neither for nor against them. They don't benefit me. They don't bother me - usually." He shrugged, big shoulders rolling beneath a smooth sabino pelt. "Respira is a fine piece of ass, pardon my language, Sister." He winked at her and Trinity just hummed, keeping her forced smile in place. "If the Helkaer called for allies, would you support them?" Another shrug. "If something was in it for me, hell, I'd support anyone. Keep that in mind should the Versai ever need some extra manpower." Was he mocking her now? As if the Versai would ever come to a man like Charm for help. "But that would also jeopardize my holding on a mainland. As we both know, the Royals and the Helkaer don't get along too nicely. And losing my mainland would put me out of business." Business. Because selling bodies like he owned them was a proper business. "Right." She couldn't keep the disdain out of the one-word response. "I'm a businessman first and foremost, Allocen." And what a sickening business it was.
"Is that all you have to say on the Helkaer, then?" she asked him. She wanted to leave. Talking with Charm was making her feel dirty. "Why, leaving so soon?" He pouted at her, mocking her once again. "I thought we were friends, baby girl!" An ear twitched and she blinked, her forced smile starting to falter. "I have my own business to attend to, Charm." Wrong thing to say. That nabbed his attention, his ears perking up. "This all part of a Versai mission, then? Are the lovely Sisters of the Highlands plotting something devious?" Her eyes narrowed, taking a slow step back from him. "I think it's time for me to leave. Goodbye, Charm." And she continued to step back away from him, putting some distance between them before she dared turn her back to him. He was grinning, chuckling. "Farewell, Allocen. Maybe I'll be the one paying you a visit next time." The ominous threat sent chills down her spine and when she did finally turn away from him, she was quick to move her pace from a walk to a speedy lope. She wanted to get the hell out of here. She had gathered all the information she needed. No need for her to stick around.
