Name: Anasazi
Breed: Andalusian x Paint
Age: 7 years
Personality: Anasazi, or Ana, is a gentle soul. She was always easy to get along with and unlikely to harm anyone. This is not to say that she is a push over by any means. She will stand for herself if she needs to, but she prefers to avoid conflict when possible. She is pretty much the definition of a pacifist. Conflict will make her sick to her stomach and she will worry herself until she is a mess.
Ana is a motherly type, taking care of those around her when ever possible. She is particularly protective of younger fillies. That is where her heart is easily tugged and she is very hard to pull away from those in need. She tends to be a bit fearful of larger males, simply because of their larger size and tendency to encourage violence among others. She will roll her eyes and act exasperated with them, but in truth, the make her more than a little nervous.
History: Ana was always the mother hen. She was trying to protect the other foals when she was old enough to actually realize what was going on around her. As she got older, she continued to be protective and watchful of the other young horses. She then took over the role of herd foal-sitter. She loved every moment of being the one protecting the small lives that were placed into her care. The foals became her world by the time she was a year and a half.
Watching the babies became her life's mission for nearly 6 years of life. One evening, the rest of the adults were playing and having run in a wide field while she was watching the babies in a smaller meadow nearby. She was under the impression that it was secluded and safe for the babies, until she heard the snarl. A flash of tawny fur and a feline form crashed through the underbrush toward one of the babies. Pushing herself in the way of the fatal attack, she deflected the mountain lion and struck out with her hooves. With every heartbeat, she could feel the pulse of her blood leaving her body and her strength waning. The noise attracted the other adults and the lead stallion rushed in and finished off the threat.
By the time that the cat was dead, Anasazi was unable to get up from the ground. She no longer could feel the warm breeze or hear the frightened whinnies of her charges. The baby that she saved with her sacrifice curled up at her chest, nudging her gently and trying to get her attention. A calm darkness descended over her as she nuzzled the filly softly and laid her head across her back one last time.
Cause of death: Mountain Lion attack
Important Life Events: Nothing major, she was always more focused on taking care of the foals in her herd
Going to Utopia or The Underworld?: Utopia would be preferable
Why do they deserve it?: Ana did everything in her power to help others and was always focused on trying to help the babies. She was definitely most focused on guarding the foals and keeping them safe while teaching them everything she could.
