Name: Katayuna
Breed: Akhal-Teke x Anglo-Arabian
Age: 4 at death
Personality: Katayuna isn’t an easy mare to deal with. She doesn’t actively want to hurt anyone, but is blunt and rude whenever she speaks. She never learned how to interact with other horses, and she is still awful at communicating with others. If she does offend someone, usually by accident, she couldn’t care less. She is coarse and to-the-point, not wasting any time to make others feel good. Katayuna knows what she wants, and doesn’t let anybody get in the way of those goals. She is bold in her actions and cunning in her plans, not caring about others or what they want. Devious and sly, it’s pretty easy for this mare to get things done. Her perfectionism only makes her more efficient, but is also part of her resentment towards others. She is easily bothered by the tiniest things, making her difficult to confront or reason with. She wants everything to be perfect, and always is convinced she is right. Being so independent and cunning does leave Katayuna alone much of the time, and although she seems to not mind, deep down, she needs others in her life to keep her grounded. She’s never thought about friendship or love, but it could be the one thing she needs.
History: Katayuna was born a fighter. Her mother resided in a herd dedicated to training horses for battle, and her father was the leader’s second-in-command. From the instant she was born, the young filly’s entire life was laid out for her. After only a few months with her mother, she and the other recent foals would be sent off in a group, suffering through rigorous training for one year. The foals were banned from seeing their parents, the herd deeming family bonds a sign of weakness. As her father played a large role in the training, Katayuna saw him often, but she was to keep their relationship a secret. The stallion had hid the fact that he had sired a foal, passing the blame on to another stallion whom Katayuna never met. The filly was one of very few foals to survive the training, although she came out beaten, starved, and exhausted. The few that made it to the other side were designated as the herd’s next generation of fighters, and graduated to training with the real warriors. Katayuna spent the next three years of her life learning to fight, working her way up the ranks as one of the strongest in the herd. Her mind was as quick as her body, and her emotional distance from the world made it easy for her to fight others without a second thought. She was praised and held to a high regard in the herd, already receiving border patrol assignments despite her young age. Her life was set to be perfect, until the truth arose about her father. She was caught speaking to him one night by the herd leader, and knew that it would be the end for the both of them. Assuming she would be killed instantly, Katayuna did nothing, knowing that fighting the much more experienced stallion would be useless. But the leader had a different fate in mind for the pair. He forced the father and daughter to fight until only one remained. The young mare couldn’t kill her father, and figured he would never kill her either. Forced to fight, Katayuna acted weak, not wanting to hurt the stallion who had helped her through the most difficult years of her life, but that was her greatest mistake. Her heartless father took out a chunk of his daughter's right ear, and selfishly bit an already-fatigued Katayuna in the throat, causing her to bleed out and die quickly. A young prodigy killed by her own father was one of the greatest tragedies the herd had ever seen, but the father was allowed to live freely.
Cause of death: Bit in the throat by father, bled out and died.
Important Life Events:
- born into a herd of warriors
- was one of the few to survive initial training
- became one of the top young fighters
- became in a border patrol for the herd
- was forced to fight to the death against her father, was killed by him
Going to Utopia or The Underworld?: Underworld
Why do they deserve it?: Katayuna spent her whole life training to fight and kill others, she doesn't care about anybody but herself, and doesn't listen to what anybody else has to say. She's not exactly the nice type, and certainly not into helping others. Utopia isn't for horses like her.
