Name: Cailan
Breed: Rocky Mountain Horse x Belgian Warmblood x Hanoverian
Age: 7 years
Personality: Cailan is that goofy but warm hearted fool that everyone seems to be drawn to. He has a heart of gold and a serious love of old legends. This goofy boy seems to collect stories as he goes about his life and can randomly pop off facts and myths without even thinking twice most of the time. At one point, when he was younger, he enjoyed being a storyteller for the younger foals in his herd and entertaining them with fun stories mixed with legends and histories.
He grew up loving the idea of a glory filled battle and the fame that would come of it. He wanted to be someone that was looked up to and that did something worthwhile in the WE world. That has always been one of his faults, wanting to be recognized as someone special.
Cailan is very respectful and well brought up. His mother enforced manners and politeness as he was growing up, while his father taught him to be kind and caring. He also learned how to treat women with honor and respect thanks to his father. That was something that both parents were very adamant about. Cailan would learn to be a gentleman. And he learned it well. He detests the idea of striking a mare and is the type of stallion that will stand up for those that are in need.
History: Cailan was born to the lead mare and stallion of his first herd. His father had one other son, a half-brother, shortly after Cailan’s first birthday. When Cailan was two, his mother fell sick and died, leaving him to find his company and companionship with those around him. He became close to his half-brother and the other younger horses. Cailan loved to tell them stories and keep them entertained while their mothers were off doing what they would.
Shortly after Cailan’s fifth birthday, he decided to strike out on his own. He became a lead stallion in his own right and was very proud of what he had done. Somehow, he became entangled in a war before he was ready to do any real fighting and became in over his head very quickly. A large stallion that was clearly trained in war and experienced targeted him. While Cailan did his best, he was no match for the big beast.
Their battle didn’t last long, the brawnier stallion’s blows doing more damage and drawing more and more of the precious blood from his body. Knowing that he had mares depending on him, Cailan did all that he could to try to strike back. His hooves met with the flesh of the other stallion, leaving wounds of their own. However, by the time that he had done any damage that was worth noting, the damage done to him was beginning to drain him of strength and will.
As Cailan fell to the ground at the victor’s hooves, he could hear the chaos behind him. His mares had come to see what was going on and were distraught at the sight of his mangled body. The brawny stallion leapt over Cailan and drove away the mass of emotional mares, leaving the chocolaty stallion alone in a pool of his own blood.
The soft steps of hooves caused him to struggle to lift his head and fail, his body seeming to be stuck to the ground. One of his mares, a delicate gray Arabian mare, stepped before him and nudged his shoulder. “I am sorry… The rest are gone… I will keep them safe if I have to drive off that beast myself.” She vowed to his now silent form, leaving his body to rest and be free from the pain.
Cause of death: Killed in battle by another stallion
Important Life Events: Mother died when he was 2. He became storyteller for the herd's young members and enjoyed gathering legends and myths to tell them. Gained his own herd at age 5. Fell into a war shortly after and was not ready. He was killed by a much more experienced stallion that then took his herd for his own.
Going to Utopia or The Underworld?: Utopia
Why do they deserve it?: Cailan lived a life that he felt was good and pure. He protected those that he could and helped any that came before him. He was killed young after getting tangled in a war that he was not ready to take part in.
