This was undoubtedly a day that Solstheim has been looking forward to with great anticipation. It was not the day, the day that would truly be the culmination of every ounce of punishing training he had thrived in. However, it was without question an important step in that direction. For months, ever since his father had left him under the tutelage of Lord Ghost, the silver dappled overo had worked hard to earn his place here. It did not matter what his lineage was, who his father was. All that mattered was working harder than he ever had before in his young life to prove that he was without doubt worthy of serving the Underworld. Whatever it took, whatever the cost… he would not fail his father or his leader. And most especially he would not fail the Lord and Lady of the Underworld. Today his flesh would be marked, leaving no doubts as to where his allegiance lay. In a year’s time, however… that would be the true mark of his devotion to the Underworld, when his soul was given to the Lord and Lady. He had always belonged to the Underworld… that final step was simply a formalizing what he knew to have always been true.
For the first time in a very long while, Solstheim found it a bit of a challenge to maintain the complete lack of expression required of the Ghosts. His sculpted features never slipped up for even so much as a heartbeat, yet he’d be lying to say it was not more work than usual. The anticipation he felt for what was to come… to be marked out as a Ghost… a faithful follower of the Underworld…. Still, despite the overflow of emotions he felt, he refused to disgrace himself with failure in any way, shape, or form. Not on this day of all days.
As he waited for things to begin, Solstheim could not help wondering if his father might make an appearance. He trusted that his unswerving dedication to the path his father had set him upon would make his father proud. Character;; Solstheim Tagged;; fleabittengray w/presumably Kero Scene and other Ghosts? My mother, she told me "Don't get in trouble" My father, he told me He knew I would
Marking a new Ghost was always an exciting thing. Kero was glad that Solstheim had made it through the first year of training and was ready to receive his inverted pentagram markings. He was proud of him. This would officially mark Solstheim as a Ghost, officially. The next year of training would be even harsher, more strenuous and challenging, but Kero was confident that the yearling would make it through and be able to dedicate his soul to the Underworld in a years time. It was almost unbearable, waiting for the full moon to rise so the ceremony could be done. It was a cold night, late in the winter season, with snow on the ground that crunched beneath the grullo overo's hooves as he walked to the meeting place to await the arrival of Solstheim and the rest of the Ghosts.
He carried in his mouth a sharpened stick that would be used to crudely carve the inverted pentagrams into Solstheim's shoulders. It would be painful, but Solstheim was not allowed to react. Not allowed to scream. Not allowed to ask for a break from the bloody indoctrination into the cult. This was another test and should he fail, the only option was death. Kero came to a halt at the spot beside the lake, placing the stick at his feet and stretching himself up, tall and proud but his face void of emotion. He looked around at the quickly gathering Ghosts, Solstheim among them. "We will begin in a moment," he stated simply, wanting to at least give everyone time to gather, and allow Solstheim time to gather his wits about him.

Waiting for that ultimate instant when the ceremony would begin was... difficult. Keeping an absolutely emotionless expression was harder today than it had ever been for the yearling. Despite the challenge, he successfully maintained that emotionless mask required of every member of the Ghosts, including their leader. Solstheim could see Lord Ghost now. He could see the sharpened stick carried by Lord Ghost that would be used to carve into the young Ghost, officially marking him as one of them. Fear of pain was not something Solstheim felt. One could hardly endure the rigorous training that the Ghosts went through if one felt a fear of pain. Rather, it was curiosity the youth felt. What would it feel like, when that sharpened end carved into his silver dappled hide? He had gained a few scars already in his young life, by various means, mostly in training. Marked by that sharpened stick as a member of the Ghosts... that would surely be different from anything he had experienced before. Harks twitched and swivelled, taking in every sound. Despite this moment and what it meant, Solstheim had never felt more alive. Showing in his very flesh his dedication to the Underworld... he could hardly wait for the moment when Kero Scene would finally call him forward.
As if to test his patience, the leader of the Ghosts opted that moment to state, "We will begin in a moment." It took every ounce of willpower Solstheim possessed not to squirm a little in impatience. But he did not. There would be no failure here. Of that he was determined. Instead, Solstheim understood that now was the time for him to be preparing himself for what was to come. Fearless when it came to pain as he might feel certain he was, that did not mean he should leap unprepared into the moment. Lids shuttered blue eyes for a moment, though in that moment he sensed something that threatened to interrupt his focus just the tiniest bit. Father was here. No sound had heralded the crimson and ivory hellion, but Solstheim knew even before he allowed his eyes to slowly open. He straightened even more, if possible, proud that his sire had seen fit to observe this moment.
Yet, through it all, he managed to maintain the required mask void of emotion. Character;; Solstheim & Vyreth Tagged;; fleabittengray w/Kero Scene & other Ghosts Notes;; Sorry for the wait! Timeline;; He is 1 year old; late winter, evening of the full moon

My mother, she told me "Don't get in trouble" My father, he told me He knew I would Kero Scene could guess how Solstheim felt, especially the arrival of his father, Vyreth. He noticed the subtle shift in Solstheim's stance, how he straightened his body up all the more, as if to impress his father. Kero was silent as he waited, his façade void of emotion. He waited for the rest of the Ghosts to gather. They trickled in, one by one, silent as ghosts in their arrival. It had been taught to them how to move swiftly but quietly throughout different types of terrain, to calculate every step they took. He waited still, even after everyone had arrived, his multi-hued eyes shifting from one figure to the next. He knew this was a big deal, for everyone. It was gathering another dedicated body to their cause. Every second spent training had led up to this moment - and Kero was going to revel in it. Finally, after a long pause, the winter wind whipping his hair around him, the Belgian mix drew in a deep breath of cold oxygen that stung his lungs and let it out slowly. "Step forward, Ghost" he said, tucking his chin toward his chest and though his face had no emotions upon it, his eyes shown with violence. "Let us begin the celebration."With that being said, he glanced up at the full moon, the silvery light shining down upon the gathered group of equines. He wondered if the Underworld would show at all, even if it was not required of them, of course, but an invite had been extended. Kero would always include the demons in their efforts to bring chaos to the mortal realm. tagged: Indi words: 274 character: Kero Scene + other Ghosts in the background notes: Sorry for the wait! timeline: 7 years 5 months, late winter, evening of the full moon "Speech"

Father was here. Even if the Lord and Lady did not come, that much was at least true. Not that any of them, Lord or Lady or Father were required to attend. He knew that his father would have been aware of what was going on, whether he had attended this celebration of Solstheim's first year with the Ghosts or not. And perhaps it was in a similar fashion that the Lord and Lady would be aware of this celebration, attendant in some unseen, supernatural fashion, but not visible to the eyes of the mortals. Still, Solstheim could not deny the intense sense of pride he felt, knowing that his father had taken time out of his day to be here in the flesh.
Silence stretched, disturbed only by the barely audible sounds that were inevitable in a swiftly growing gathering of equines. Solstheim was aware of the arrival of each Ghost who trickled silently into the gathering, though his vivid blue gaze remained fixed upon Lord Ghost, awaiting the moment when he would be summoned forth to be marked by the sharpened stick held in the Belgian mix's maw. The winter wind was icy against Solstheim's hide, but he refused even to shiver as he patiently waited.
Finally, finally, Lord Ghost tucked his chin toward his chest as he said, "Step forward, Ghost. Let us begin the celebration."
Though he still managed to keep every bit of emotion from showing upon his sculpted features, the yearling's sapphire gaze seemed to glow with eagerness that could be expressed in no other way. This was it. The moment he had been waiting for. At last his first year of training would be celebrated and his dedication to the Underworld would be etched into his very flesh. From this day forth, anyone who knew anything would know exactly where his loyalties resided and to whom he had dedicated the entirety of his life. And next year... oh next year he would give his very soul to the Underworld.
Halting before Lord Ghost, he met his leader's gaze with sapphire eyes alight with eagerness and fierce determination. Holding himself absolutely still, one thing was clear.
He was ready. Character;; Solstheim Tagged;; fleabittengray w/Kero Scene + other Ghosts in the background Notes;; <3 Timeline;; He is 1 year old; late winter, evening of the full moon

x KERO SCENE Solstheim had done well in his first year training as a Ghost. He had obeyed orders and learned well under Kero Scenes training. He had not questioned things and had shown nothing but loyalty and ferocity. At just a year old, Solstheim had gone through and survived training that many adults would not be able to handle, physically or mentally. Kero Scene liked to make sure the Ghosts were the best of the best. And that was exactly what Kero Scene saw in the proud gaze that looked at him as the yearling stepped forward to present himself to his leader. The Ghost leader was still and silent, holding the sharpened stick in his mouth, clenched between his teeth. The rest of the Ghosts and Vyreth were all gathered in a circle around them. If Solstheim should decide to back out of this now, to run away, the only consequence was death. Kero was not gentle, nor was he hesitant, as he began to carve the inverted pentagrams upon Solstheim's shoulders with the pointed edge of the stick. Blood was quick to rise to the surface and drip down first one of Solstheim's front legs and then the other, black beneath the moonlight. Once the second pentagram was carved forever into the skin of the yearling, Kero Scene took a few steps back and gave a single now of approval. He set the stick down, licking traces of blood from his lips. "Well done, Ghost."Indi w/ Solstheim + Vyreth 245 | Kero Scene + other Ghosts in the background So sorry for the wait!
