Rasa I'm not afraid of the war you've come to wage against my sins Actions spoke louder than words, and so far, the Underworld had been dangerously quiet. There had been no retaliation from her taking Everest, and again from her taking Venari. Both children of Xerxes. She'd been hoping it would get the Lord's attention, get him to come seeking her audience. But if Xerxes wanted to stay silent and let his children stay in Utopia, she would allow it. What she would not allow was her Lord to continue to rot within the Underworld. She was debating what her next step would be. She wanted to barge into the Underworld and take Nehemiah back herself, but she risked getting captured herself if she did that. She could not go into Hell without being weakened. It had happened to Xerxes, when he came barreling into Utopia uninvited and unannounced. Rasa would not have been surprised if the aura of Utopia had tried to obliviate him from existence. It was a defense mechanism, made to keep the angels safe from demons, and the demons safe from angels. Without these defenses, there would be no end to the unholy wars that would be fought, though the bay angel had a feeling that something wicked was on the way. She had a feeling that it would rain fire one day, that Hell and all its demons would be unleashed, and the mortals would have to make a decision. Heaven or Hell, who did they support? There would be no neutrality on that front. It was one or the other.
It sickened her to think such things were coming. Rasa did not want war. She did not want chaos. She was a Neutral aligned equine and she wanted peace, not violence, but she was not afraid to bring hell if she had to. She'd been around too long to be a pacifist as much as she would like to be. Too much was on the line to be laid back and let things happen. She had to make things happen. She'd come out to the Free Lands to give herself a short break from thinking... but still, the thoughts remained, swirling in her mind, keeping it occupied even as she tried to relax. Then again, how could she afford herself time to relax when Nehemiah was suffering? Wings tucked against her sides, the wind howling past her, Rasa tucked her chin and march up the steep incline of the path she'd found herself wandering in an isolated section of Kunipar Cliffs. She was not expecting to see anyone here, not mortals at least, because the risk of falling to your death was quite large in this area, with this much wind. However, Rasa had no fear of death - she was already dead.

Kunipar Cliffs was an unfamiliar site to Gidge. He couldn't recall the last time he'd come here, or if he'd ever come here. Since he had been given a task by Nixi herself, he was out on the hunt for information. The most the ebon bronc knew was that this was a sort of gathering locale for Dark equines. He had hoped to find someone he might be able to finagle some information out of about Coreion's attacker. It had been a strange transition from the Dark Kingdom to the Light Kingdom. Corieon had once been an enemy by alliance only and now he hunted the mares who had taken him hostage. Eli did not join him on this trek, because it was far easier for an equine than an Elephant to traipse the narrow pathways up the clifftops.
The race he'd partaken in recently was not far away from here. Gidge did not spot any familiar faces at first when he arrived atop the plateau. There were mingling bodies, sure but none of them really stood out to him. Gidge had been stagnant for too long, and realistically that was because he'd gotten what he wanted out of tarnishing the name of the Versai. The ebon bronc knew that you could only push limits and manipulate the political systems so much before you put yourself in danger. Gidge felt he had teetered on that edge fairly well until now.
Now he was back to sleuthing and hunting down information for his newly chosen royals. How strange to go from untrustworthy and problem causing, to trusted to find a King's pair of attackers. As Gidge pulled himself out of his thoughts, he did spot a familiar face. A frown etched itself into his features as Rasa peered at the edge of the cliff. He wondered how best to get under her skin, but he didn't have any information to do that currently. Xerxes was his best friend and therefore he'd painted a large target on his back when it came to Utopia.
Gidge approached her like a shadow and said nothing at first, not until he was close enough. "Admiring the view, Rasa?" He asked her dryly, the frown still etched on his face. For the first time he felt conflicted about his task and the avenues he had to achieve it. Would she regard him with the same coldness as when she had taken his soul from him? He flicked his tail as he waited for a response. Gidge was at least sure she would be as displeased to see him as he was of her. His relationship to Xerxes made encountering the Lady of Utopia dangerous for him.
"Before we catch up, just know that if you even think about doing anything to me that most assuredly someone will come hunting for me shortly after. Whether that is the Light Royals or my mate..." Gidge refrained from using Casi's name in an effort to protect him. That was the thing though, if she wanted to she could just pluck that name right out ofh is head.

Rasa I'm not afraid of the war you've come to wage against my sins She allowed herself to feel the chill in the air, to let it caress her wings and ruffle her feathers as the wind howled around her. There were not many mortals in the area. She had been correct in assuming not many would brave these trails, especially with the wind whipping around like it was. But the mortal world was powerless against her immortality. It could not do anything to her. Any harm that was brought to her in this realm would soon be healed. She could not die again. She was untouchable. Invincible. So why did she feel so weary, so broken? There was such a dislike toward Utopia. She was struggling to figure out why the mortals did not trust them. She was trying, had been trying for years. She had done all she could to get her angels active - but it failed every time. No one wanted to mingle with the mortals, it would seem, and Rasa struggled to carry the weight of Utopia on her own shoulders. It had been easier, for a time, with Nehemiah with her but he'd been gone for at least a year now... Who knew what horrors he was facing in the Underworld, alone, with no friends by his side? How much longer could he possibly last? What was her next move? She was running out of ideas... Perhaps she needed a conversation with Lat to discuss things...
Movement behind her caused her to remove herself from her thoughts. She twisted an ear back to listen to the hoof steps approaching her. The wind was too wild to capture a proper scent, but the aura of the equine was familiar. Still, she did not think it was a friend approaching her. But would it be a foe? "Admiring the view, Rasa?" The voice was familiar as well. It belonged to a man named Gidge, a man she had dealt with before. She chuckled quietly, turning her ear forward again as she gazed out over the cliff. Below, waves crashed against the rocky face of the cliff. White capped waves pounded endlessly against the rocks. A fall from this height would surely kill a mortal. If the fall didn't, then the waves would. "Hello, Gidge." Her greeting was neutral, holding on ill will toward the mortal being. He was a friend of Xerxes, and she didn't particularly like him, sure, but... he hadn't had anything to do with Nehemiah being taken. Hopefully.
"Before we catch up, just know that if you even think about doing anything to me that most assuredly someone will come hunting for me shortly after. Whether that is the Light Royals or my mate..." Rasa finally turned her head to look at him, surveying his features. He had not said the name of his mate. She had easily noticed that - and could just as easily find out who they were, with a quick glimpse into his mind, but the idea was only fleeting. Digging into the minds of others, especially those who could not defend themselves, was not something that she enjoyed doing. "I have no reason to bring you any harm, Gidge." She kept her voice calm. Passive. A flick of her tail, snapping against her hide, and then she sighed. "What are you doing up here? Please be careful to stay away from the ledge. The wind could knock you off your feet and how would I go about explaining that one to your friend, hm?" It was said in a slight joking manner, but she was also being quite serious. If anything happened to Gidge, with only Rasa here as witness, she would without a doubt be the one blamed.

TW: serious injury, language, mention of blood and serious injury and Gidge being a general idiot, Ebon pls don't read this lololol
At first, Rasa did not turn to face him. She did respond to him by name. The Lady of Utopia remembered him, although part of him doubted that she'd ever forget him. Gidge wasn't exactly an unknown name at this point, especially given how badly he'd messed with her allies. The ebon bronc didn't respond to her greeting, instead he waited for a response for the rest of what he had to say. Rasa did turn to face him as the winds violently raced across the clifftops. Gidge pinned his ears as the wind raced around him, sending his hair flying chaotically around his frame. Rasa refuted his point of having a reason to do him any harm. Gidge merely laughed in response to that. It wasn't exactly true that she didn't have a reason, it seemed like she just wasn't vindictive enough to choose one. "Don't you? Come now, lying doesn't suit you Rasa." Gidge mused with a grin.
It sounded like a joke, but it wasn't really a joke. It wasn't like they were friends, or that the two of them didn't have history. Gidge's best friend outside of Casi was the Lord of the Underworld, that didn't exactly make him ally number one. "I can certainly think of a handful of reasons why you would want to do something with me or to me." Gidge strode a little closer to Rasa toward the edge she had been peering over. The winds didn't let up, and the chill was enough to make him regret this decision. He stood so close to Rasa she could've reached out with her wing and touched him if she wanted. Gidge was testing his limits with her and didn't seem fazed by their proximity.
The Lady of Utopia asked what he was doing out here and warned him not to get too close to the edge. Gidge rolled his eyes as he swiveled his head to peer at her again. "It doesn't make you a better equine to pretend you care about your enemies. You don't need to pretend for me, Rasa. That being said, I'm out here hunting for information for Queen Nixi and King Naberus. Ideally, I'd like to find it without help from the Afterlife. I couldn't miss out on a chance to catch up with you though." Another playful jab, or at least it was disguised as one. Gidge sidled a little closer to the edge to peer over it at the crashing waves below.
The wind had quieted around momentarily and Gidge decided to be dramatic. "The wind is going to whip a fully grown horse off the cliffs? How close is too close?... This?.... or maybe this?..." Gidge made a show at swiveling his hind quarters close the edge, and then his whole side, lifting one leg up as if to challenge Rasa without saying anything. Then the gales returned and he felt himself lose his footing. "Ah fuck..." Hubris. Gidge was indeed swept off the edge of the cliff and collided with the sharp rock face as he tumbled down. Each collission brought a new injury or gash.
The frigid, churning water soon greeted him and his blood seeped into the salty water. Gidge tried to swim but struggled to keep his head above water, his whole body was wracked with pain. Bruises and broken bones litered his body. His left shoulder didn't feel right. It felt heavier than his right one as he struggled to move it.
Fucking hubris.

Rasa I'm not afraid of the war you've come to wage against my sins Gidge did not like her. She was not fond of him in the slightest. He was here just to pester her, to be annoying. All she had to do was tolerate his presence until one of them decided to leave, and then they would go about their days. It was an annoyance, but she could think of worse equines to be spending her time with. Charm, for instance. Or either ruler of the Underworld, though she'd had less dealings with Teca. Gidge was just a pest, a thorn in her side, but she didn't actually have a reason to be cruel to him and Rasa - though many would not believe it - was not a cruel woman. Did she want to be? More often than not, even if she did not want to admit it. She would very much like to set the world ablaze and let the mortals burn, but that wasn't very Love and Light of her, now, was it? So Rasa kept her cool and did her best to try and lead Utopia with a steady hand, trying to choose neutrality over violence. Love over chaos. She was convinced it took more effort and strength to be good than it did to be evil. Two sides of the came coin, sure, but fighting the feral urges... it wasn't easy.
Gidge's laughter, fading away into the wind, tore her from her thoughts. She peered at him with slightly narrowed eyes. She did not trust him. He was a close friend of Xerxes, despite living in the Light Kingdom. "Don't you? Come now, lying doesn't suit you Rasa." A casual roll of her eyes was given in response. "I can certainly think of a handful of reasons why you would want to do something with me or to me." The stallion carried on, and one of her ears twitched in annoyance, but other than that, she was still. "I have bigger things to fret about than yourself, Gidge - no offense, of course." She kept her tone light, almost playful, and though she wanted to snap at Gidge she did not. It would do her no good to pick a fight with one of Xerxes's mortal spies - because that was what Rasa saw him as.
Rasa tensed when Gidge came closer, though not because he was getting closer to her, but closer to the ledge. Her ears pinned, her jaw clenching. He really was quite stupid, wasn't he? "It doesn't make you a better equine to pretend you care about your enemies. You don't need to pretend for me, Rasa. That being said, I'm out here hunting for information for Queen Nixi and King Naberus. Ideally, I'd like to find it without help from the Afterlife. I couldn't miss out on a chance to catch up with you though." Did everyone really think she pretended to care? She blinked at him, arching a brow, but before she could formulate a response, the wind died down and Gidge did was Gidge did best - be a dramatic little shit. "The wind is going to whip a fully grown horse off the cliffs? How close is too close?... This?.... or maybe this?..."
He moved too quickly, and the wind came back with ferocity. Rasa inhaled sharply, letting out a startled snort as she realized what was happening. In slow motion, though still much too quickly for her to react, Gidge was falling. "Ah fuck..." The words were lost between the wind and his body hurtling down the cliff. "You idiot!" Rasa gasped, and with no hesitation, Gidge's body already beginning to sink beneath the crashing waves, Rasa jumped.
It was terrifying, she would admit, even knowing she couldn't die. She crashed into the water below, using her wings and legs to propel herself toward Gidge. She did not allow herself to feel the bitter cold of the water, but the mortal brute would not have the same experience. He would be freezing, in pain - possibly in shock. I cannot let him die. I will not let him die. She reached Gidge within seconds, but still, with the blood she had to swim through in order to get to him... was she too late? She reached out with one of her wings, it felt incredibly heavy, water logged and fighting against the current, but she forced herself to stay focused. Using both her physical strength as well as the gifted powers of being the Lady of Utopia, Rasa curled her wing around Gidge and focused her energy to help keep him afloat. The waves were ruthless, crashing around them. Her own head was forced beneath the water numerous times - but she didn't need to breathe. Gidge did.
Using her remaining wing as well as her legs, Rasa swam as quickly as she could in the direction of a small little beach nearby. It felt so very far away, like she wasn't going to make it, not with Gidge's body also weighing her down. She didn't even think to let him go, however, instead trying to pull him closer toward her body. Trying her best to keep his head above the waves. Fighting the water and focusing her powers on keeping him alive... it was exhausting. She was losing her focus, felt her powers wavering. She kicked faster. Just a little further...
When she felt sand beneath her hooves, she could have cried. She was shaking, legs trembling as she hauled Gidge up toward the beach. "This is going to hurt like a bitch," she hissed, wondering if he was even coherent enough to hear her. She dragged him over the wet sand, away from the waves and the water, her wings drooping at her sides. She studied Gidge's body. He was bleeding, heavily, and she could see that bones were broken. Cursing under her breath, already knowing she was going to be weakened by the amount of energy it would take to heal him, Rasa touched her muzzle down against Gidge's cheek and closed her eyes. She would focus on any internal bleeding first. Then the external wounds... and then the broken bones. All Gidge had to do was stay the hell alive for it.

[TW: serious injuries/bodily harm, language] The moments that passed were agonizing. Panic set in for the obsidian bronc as the waves continually crashed over his head and he could feel his mouth fill with water each time he tried to draw a breath. Sometimes he got bits of oxygen and other times he got oxygen and seawater. Another loud crash and rumble could be heard beneath the waves when they crashed around him again. He felt something moving near him, and more panic surged throug him. It created more pain and exhaustion as he allowed the worst thoughts to take hold of his mind. What if there was a shark? The water was filled with his blood by now, so it wasn't outside the realm of possibility.
Then, Gidge felt a waterlogged wing and body pressed against him. His head was dragged above water, although there was still some struggle. His shoulder wouldn't cooperate and he was starting to lose vision. The black stag coughed and sputtered the seawater from his lungs, trying to expel as much as possible. Did Rasa really dive in after him? Gidge tried his best to assist the Lady of Utopia in her efforts to save him although much of his movement felt futile. He didn't want to die just because he was too fucking stupid and prideful to listen to her about the dangers up on the cliff.
Finally when he felt his body dragged on shore, he could still feel his wounds. More now that he was out of the sea. His lungs ached, and he vaguely registered the words that came from Rasa's mouth about pain. Could there be anything more painful than what he'd just been through? Gidge had his answer in just moments. The Light stag let out a scream that roared across the shores and reverberated deep into the wilds of Wild Equines. It was so loud it would likely be heard even atop the cliffs. It woke him up and he tried to scramble to his feet although his left shoulder continued to sag unnaturally.
Gidge continued to let out pained screams as he tried to fight back against the new pain he was feeling. He no longer knew who it was who was supposed to be helping him, and was thrashing wildly about in a panic. Words fleabittengray - sorry for the wait

Rasa I'm not afraid of the war you've come to wage against my sins TW: Descriptions of injuries and healing
She could only imagine what being healed of internal wounds must feel like, on top of external cuts and broken bones. She figured the internal bleeding would be what killed him the fastest, so she'd settled on healing that first, but Gidge was being less than helpful at the moment. The moment the healing process started, he let out a roar of pain that echoed through the Cliffs. To anyone else around, it would probably sound like she was killing him, not doing the literal opposite. Rasa managed to lift her head out of the way of his flailing, cursing under her breath as water continued to drop from her body and her wings. "Gidge! Stay down, you'll only do more damage!" she snapped, too exhausted to try and be civil. She stepped toward him, hurrying to catch him before he could crash down to the sand as his shoulder sagged again and again. It was more than likely dislocated or broken, she had yet to get to that part of the healing process, but any organs that had been damaged should at least be healed for the moment - so long as a broken bone didn't pierce anything. "I know it hurst but you need to stay still!"
Rasa tried to soften her tone a little bit, tried to soothe him into relaxing, but she knew it was going to take more than that. "You're going to hate me even more for this, aren't you?" she sighed, and once Gidge had sagged down onto the bloodied sand once more - she used her body to keep him there. She wasn't sure how long she would be able to hold him there, especially since she already felt so weak, and he was struggling so much, but she had to keep him still at least long enough to heal him. Her legs shook as she panted softly, closing her eyes to focus the remains of her energy onto healing him. She debating calling another angel down to help speed up the process, but Gidge would probably hate her even more, and she figured he deserved to not have his stupid pride wounded anymore than it probably already was by his idiotic stunt.

[TW: serious injuries/bodily harm, language] Gidge could hardly think anymore, the only sensation he could feel was pain. Rasa was speaking to him, but his brain had gone completely into survival mode. It knew only one thing at that moment, and that was to try and fight. The onyx bronc didn't realize that Rasa was trying to help him, because to him he was still in danger. He was still dying. At least it felt that way. Eventually, Gidge noted that he could not thrash anymore, there was a heavy weight over the top of him holding him down. Tears quickly poured from his eyes, as he prepared to join the Afterlife. Casi would be extremely upset with him. Kanoni and Eli would likely be lost without him too.
The Light stag merely trembled beneath Rasa as thoughts of the worst overtook him. He was no longer sure if the tears fell because of the pain or the fear that plagued the survival part of his brain. Eventually though, Gidge began to feel steadier. Steady enough to note that it was Rasa who was holding him down, and her legs around him trembled. He could feel her labored breaths and their puffs dance across his bruised skin. Yet he no longer felt as though he were drowning. There was still an immense amount of pain, but not so much that he reverted to completely irrational behavior.
Gidge managed to understand that Rasa had asked him if this would make him hate her more. His white gaze had slithered to the side of the eye he had facing up. He studied her exhausted form as he now lay still on the beach. There was no response from the obsidian stag, he remained quiet as he contemplated that question. By his very nature he should hate her, and given who his best friend was it made more sense. The fact that she healed him while he was her enemy did create a moral dilemma for him. One he would have to face in the future.
Gidge coughed up a bit more of the sea water, and winced as his throat burned from the saltiness. The former dark hessian remained quiet and still beneath the bay angel. He wondered how long it would take before he stopped feeling the waves of rolling pain. They did lessen but never stopped completely. "Feelings aside... do not think I am ungrateful." Gidge managed to rasp out to Rasa. He coughed again, and remained quiet after that. They could talk more soon enough. Words fleabittengray - sorry for the wait

x RASA Trying to hold Gidge down and focus on healing him at the same time was exhausting. She had not been this tired in a long time. She hoped she would have enough strength to make it back to Utopia on her own after this. After making sure Gidge was healed enough to at least survive and make it home himself. The salt water was drying, making her hair feel crusted and sticky. Her eyes were closed, trying to focus her energy on healing Gidge. How ironic, healing her enemy, someone who hated her, who was friends with her own worst enemy, Xerxes. She found herself wondering if Xerxes would do the same thing for one of Rasa's friends, without being asked, and ask for nothing in return. Rasa wasn't going to ask Gidge to align himself with her now, or to turn his back on Xerxes. All she was going to ask of him was that he made it hime safely. Did he have a family, she wondered? A mate? Kids? Last she'd heard, he was leading a Dark land. Trembling Shadows, if she remembered correctly. Did he still live there? She occupied herself with these thoughts as her powers put Gidge back together, using them to distract herself from her own aching body. Eventually, Gidge stopped his struggling and it made it easier to hold him in place, easier to heal him. She shivered, finding herself feeling cold. She could not remember the last time she felt cold, but she pushed on. When Gidge coughed, she let out a sigh of relief, allowing herself to remove herself from hovering overtop of him. Letting him start to stretch his legs and move, should he decide to, but still she kept her energy, her powers, focused on him, searching for anymore injuries that would need immediate healing. "Feelings aside... do not think I am ungrateful." His voice was raspy from the salt water that had burned his throat. Rasa stared down at him, a muscle in her jaw twitching, and then she snorted softly. "You will be sore for a few days," she spoke, quiet and soft, "But you will live."➳ T e c h n o ➳ w/ Gidge 360 | ProfileSorry for the wait! 19 years 6 months, late autumn/early winter, late morning
