The blackness of night was dampened only by the snow reflecting the light of the moon. The light filtered through the trees and illuminated any ground that was not sheltered by thickly clustered branches of the woodland. Nemesis had broken away from the main group and went after the wolves who went howling into the black night. The bay mare cackled as she caught up to her fellow hunters who had paused to wait for her to catch up. Nemesis didn't control them, they merely joined in on the chaos. Still, there was mutual respect between the two wolves at her side and herself. They were part of the same pack so to speak, although their forms were not so familiar that she'd recognize them. Nemesis watched her breath disappear into the ink-stained sky for a moment before she drew in her focus. In her mind, she pictured the river of Discord where she'd undergone her ritual to join the Helkaer. Soon the woods would be alight with flames. Soon the moon wouldn't be the only source of light racing through the woodlands. The river flashed through her mind as her bodice began to tingle.
She felt like she was on fire, as pins and needles raced through her bodice. Nemesis couldn't tell if it was because of her focus on summoning the fire, or if it was just her nerves around the event. It was strange to think of herself as having nerves, but it was the truth. It took violence and chaos to bring out any sort of emotion in the Helkaer private. Nemesis had to cease her thoughts on the matter to hold her focus until the tingling subsided. She had directed her attention to the dry needles of the trees in the hopes that it would catch quickly and the fire would spread rapidly. If only she could decimate Eacarrah with her blaze. The fire crackled to life, but it was still to be determined how chaotic it would be. Nemesis cackled with glee as the fire danced slowly up the pine needles. The two wolves glanced back at her with some uncertainty. The bay private had never felt so alive before.
After a few moments she began to move again, she was on the hunt for her target now. The wolves fell into line with her as they thundered through the snow. The snowdust flew behind them as they howled and cackled into the night. Nemesis was honed in on any sort of movement on the horizon. She hoped to stir the slumbering herd to alarm. It would be useful to have them scatter so that the members of her raiding group would be able to make good on their objectives. Mostly it was sow chaos, but if they achieved more that would certainly be a plus. "Speech here"Sunfrost , fleabittengray

➳ T e c h n o ➳ Nemesis has rolled a 3. The fire ignites, and flames immediately arise round the hooves of the present equines. It is enough that it will burn those who get too close, but not enough that it will have detrimental effects on the land following the burn. It will still create a slight bit of panic amidst those present, and complicate things during the feuding.

Gavin wondered when the panic would set in. He had sent his herd members to Black Rose Ravine and Dark Woods for help. He had sent a prayer up to Utopia for their Guardian Angel, Rhundurin, to help somehow. But now, now he had to be the one doing something. The silver buckskin tobiano felt anxiety lend extra energy to his muscles even as the air warmed. Fire rippled through the trees, the Helkaer leading this charge clearly having summoned it. Gavin slowed, horror rippling through him. The fire would destroy whatever little food they already had, in the thick of winter. Worse, it would melt the snow underfoot, making the ground even more slick and muddy. It was among the single worst things that could have happened. Rage lit Gavin’s insides, sudden and unexpected in its intensity. He let out an angry roar, likely attracting the attention of everyone nearby and not caring. This was his herdland, his herd to protect. He would protect it.
Silhouetted against the flames, he saw a mare flanked by two wolves. She was cackling, the wolves howling, as though they were one organism. Gavin oriented his body towards her, speeding up to a trot and then a charge. He didn’t care about the wolves at her side; all he wanted was to take a pound of flesh out of her. He barely remembered Vojorn’s instructions to him during their one brief meeting – stay rational. See what your opponent’s weaknesses are. Capitalize on them. He was too seized by rage. The flames, helpfully, also lit up the flame symbol on her face. Helkaer. This mare was a Helkaer. Rage stealing his breath once more, Gavin picked up speed. His violet eyes saw only her; his rage-filled mind only imagined what it would be like to take a chunk out of her neck. Helkaer or no, he would not be intimidated.
The young herd lead let out a battle cry, knowing it would alert the mare in front of him to his presence and not caring. He felt his hooves slip underfoot and decided he would take advantage of at least that, practically hurtling himself forward as he hoped the extra lack of friction would lend to his speed and hopefully give him some sort of advantage in what would unlikely be an uneven fight. He’d worry about the wolves later; for now, he concentrated on slamming into the Helkaer mare. If he was lucky, she’d be taken off balance by the slam, and he’d be able to rip something out of her neck or any other part of her body he could reach while sliding on by.

What's a sheep to a tiger? Maddy was frantic as she looked for her daughter. She had heard the cry from Gavin to go to Black Rose Ravine and she knew she should go, but she couldn't without making sure Fergie was safe! In a panic, Maddy let out a shrill cry as she galloped through the snow, tripping and stumbling every so often in her haste to find where her young daughter might be. Had the girl been captured? Attacked? Or worse... was she a part of the attack? Maddy's stomach churned uneasily at the idea, pushing the thought away, because sure, Fergie was a little different but surely she wouldn't set up an attack on her own home... right? Tears in her eyes, Madagascar raced clumsily through the wintery night, her heart beating so rapidly that she feared it might burst right through her chest. Another shrill whinny and finally - finally! - she heard a responding whinny. A familiar one. A calm one... too calm, considering the current situation. Putting on a burst of speed, Maddy charged onward and finally spotted Fergie, standing knee deep in the snow, her typical flat expression on her face. "Hey, Ma," the greeting was casual, so casual, as if nothing was wrong. Maddy, panting, was about to reply when she spotted a figure in the distance. Too far away in the dark to make out the details, but something was oddly familiar about the scent that came to her on the breeze. And then ... all hell broke loose. Or, at least, fire did. Maddy nearly jumped right out of her skin when she saw the flames, but Fergie just eyed them with a strange fascination, head cocked as the flames began to lick along the hooves of those closer to the mare. "Hm..." Fergie turned toward Maddy, and Maddy stared at her with wide-eyed terror. "I have to get help. Please, come with me?" Fergie just stared at her blankly, blinking, and when she spoke there was no emotion in her voice. "I'll stay here. You go. You hate fire, anyway." Fergie motioned with her muzzle toward the burn scars along her mother's body and Maddy flinched. She knew her daughter was right. With fire involved, Maddy would be useless. Gritting her teeth, Maddy snorted and hesitantly reached for her daughter. "Please, stay safe. Be careful. If you see Gavin, let him know I went to Black Rose Ravine to get help!"And then Maddy was charging off, doing her best to avoid the fire. Fergie watched her mother fade away into the distance and then she was sighing, turning her attention back to the figure. And there was another figure now, that of Gavin, charging at the stranger in their home. She just stared, watching from a distance. She felt calm despite the chaos erupting around her in the place she had called home all her short life. She supposed she should at least try and be of some use... It was the right thing to do. The normal thing to do. Still, she was in no rush as she set off at a calm walk in the direction of Gavin. The closer she got to the leader of her home, the more fire there was around, threatening to dance around her. And even near the heat of the flames, Fergie was emotionless. TW: Blood, violenceNemesis watched as her fire danced to life. It was not an inferno as she had hoped, but it was sure to add to the chaos. Perhaps it was better that they did not scorch the earth, and that his served better as a warning of what was to come. The inky blackness of night faded quickly as the flames spread along the trees. Smoke began to waft into the air, and irritated her throat slightly. She began to see bodies and hear the snarling of the wolves as they raced through the trees amidst the racing bodies and clamour. A cry bellowed nearby, and her eyes snapped in that direction. Soon enough the bay mare noticed that an equine was barreling towards her through the snow. They had a significant amount of momentum going as they honed in on her as their target. She skirted narrowly to the side to avoid beign knocked off balance, but the stag caught a chunk of her neck. Drops of blood fell from her nape and into the snow. The cold air stung on the fresh wound in her neck, and Nemesis could feel her blood lust take over.
She had been hunting here sure, but now this was different. Nemesis was still within range of the stallion who'd sounded the war cry and she swiveled on the slippery terrain to close the distance between them again. The Helkaer hadn't intended on biting anyone initially, but she now thought that ship had sailed. The bay lunged toward the stallion, snapping her enamels at him. She hoped she could catch part of his flank. Any flesh would do, so long as the Cambion could sink her teeth into the bronc. Nemesis managed to race passed him before she turned around to face him again. The familiar crunching of snow sounded amidst the assault on the Helkaer private, and she swung her head upward to spy who was approaching. Two wolves ran in toward the approaching equine. It was the mare she'd come here to take back home. All she had to do now was take care of the stallion, and then she'd drag this mare away.
Nemesis was not surprised to find the casual stroll of the mare into the fray. She had been very similar to the cambion in nature. That was why Nemesis had to have her. A snarl ripped from her throat as she thrust herself forward again, this time she raised upon her hind legs to swing at the stallion who tried to knock her off balance. "Did you think that would work? You'll have to do better than that." Nemesis growled. "Speech here"Sunfrost , fleabittengray
Gavin bit Nemesis and tore open a wound on her neck but did not knock her off balance. She then tried to bite Gavin on his flank as she ran passed. Then when she turned around she ran bak toward him to try and strike him.

Gavin tasted the iron tang of blood in his mouth and tried his hardest not to immediately spit it out. He’d never thought to find himself in a battle situation before, and had never tasted blood. The young herd lead was immediately disgusted, but steeled himself. He was defending his land, and while this Helkaer mare had scored the first hit on his land, he’d scored the first hit on her. That was something to be pleased with, and he’d definitely tell Vojorn if he survived the night. Gavin skidded, triumph in his chest overwhelming his sense of disgust, and found to his dismay that the Helkaer mare had already managed to regain her footing. The wound didn’t seem to bother her at all. How was that possible?!
She was coming at him now, lunging forward, snapping her teeth towards him. Gavin simply wasn’t fast enough to dodge this, as he’d been completely unprepared for it in the first place. Skidding backward, Gavin felt her teeth graze and rip at his flank. Blood pooled there, spilling to the ground below, and Gavin flinched, unused to the feeling of a wound. It would need treatment. There was something else wrong here, though…but what was it? Maybe it was just the adrenaline pumping through his veins, and he was overthinking it, but Gavin worried there was something more to the wound than he had anticipated. The mare was turning to face him again, when suddenly she turned her head to look at something else. Gavin followed her gaze and saw Fergie, one of his herd members, leisurely walking towards them. Why so slowly? Was she hurt? The Helkaer’s wolves raced towards the mare. Gavin knew he couldn’t spare her much attention, having his own battle to fight, but that didn’t stop him from wishing Fergie well as he refocused on the Helkaer again.
She was snarling, saying he would have to do better, running at him again. Gavin let loose his own cry, racing towards her in turn, wanting to meet the challenge in her gaze. He’d worry about his wound later. The mare reared, looking to strike at him with her legs. Gavin swerved to the right, mis-stepping slightly, feeling a hoof strike him on his right shoulder as he careened past. His muscles screamed as the silver buckskin tobiano slammed to a sudden halt, kicking out with his back legs in a bucking motion that would hopefully slam and knock over the Helkaer before she had a chance to come down from her rear. Gavin wanted her on the ground. The sudden violence and anger surprised him, but he figured he would deal with those feelings later. Right now, he just wanted to hurt her.
tagged// fleabittengray ➳ T e c h n o ➳ battle notes// Gavin got bit on the flank - will have to figure out how to cure him later LOL. Gavin also got hit on the right shoulder by Nemesis's attack. His counter-attack is to buck out with his back legs in the direction of Nemesis and hopefully hit her somewhere LOL, especially if she is still rearing, maybe even knock her off balance.

The full moon above was hopefully a good sign of how the night would turn out. Saniyya had started out the night on patrol, until the angel Rhundurin had appeared in Amaravati and summoned whichever Versai sister lived there to the aid of Eacarrah. Rhundurin had spoken of the land being set on fire by the Helkaer, and currently under attack. Saniyya had answered the call and could only hope that she wasn’t too late. She had come as quickly as she could, guided by Rhundurin’s instructions. She’d never been to Eacarrah before. As she ran, her vision aided by the shine of the full moon above, Sani mentally rehearsed everything she had learned about combat. She trained with her Sisters daily, but had not yet tasted real combat. This would be the first time for that, too. And Sani knew she would call on her power of water here – how else would she put out the flames?
Smoke. It was thick in the air, the scent of fire. Sani knew she must be getting close if she could smell it this clearly. The silver dapple black reoriented, galloping towards an opening in a rim of mountain and glimpsing a view of a beautiful lake. This must be Eacarrah. Flames licked the air, smaller than she might have expected – had she been too late? Had the flames almost burnt themselves out, and the land would have been burned, and she was ultimately a failure? Reassuring herself as best she could, Sani refocused on the mission at hand – put out the fire. The High Priestess raced towards where the flames seemed thickest – around the trees, where they ate at the dry spots along the ground hungrily. There were so many clashing equines nearby, but if there were flames here, there must be a Helkaer nearby. The moon aided her in identifying the equine – a mare, with the flaming symbol of the Helkaer on her cheek. She was fighting with a young looking silver buckskin tobiano stallion. The moon illuminated the blood that had dripped onto the ground from the wounds they bore.
Sani raced directly towards them, instinct drilled from training taking over. The stallion had just bucked in the direction of the Helkaer when she arrived. Hoping her Versai symbol was still visible, Saniyya spoke, almost spitting on the words in her sudden fury. What had Eacarrah done to deserve this? Helkaer – your chaos ends here she declared, tones furious. And for the first time ever, the silver dapple black Versai focused on the pulse of the river she had drank from nearly three years ago, the one that had made her Versai. She called to it, feeling it thrum within her, concentrating fiercely. She didn’t know how much of the rains would answer, if it would be enough to put out the flames or if it would add to the problem. It wasn’t up to her. She just hoped it would be enough, and no more, to put out the flames in this land, and help Eacarrah without damaging it.

Sunfrost Saniyya has rolled a 4. During the time it took for Rhundurin to seek out Saniyya, the fire burned amidst Eacarrah, creating both panic as well as a great deal of smoke and ash. However, Saniyya's arrival and subsequent summoning of rain were able to help the suffering environment. As Saniyya rolled a number higher than the number Nemesis rolled, the fire has now been extinguished. The rain will help the smoke clear, but it will continue to pour at a modest rate upon those present. Large puddles will gather upon the ground and the lands and the territory will be left feeling damp for several days following this feud.

What's a sheep to a tiger? Smoke choked the air as she approached the battling pair of equines, though her approach was halted by the charging of wolves in her direction. She cocked her head to the side, fearlessly staring the wolves down as they ran at her. There was no adrenaline, no fear, nothing. Fergie had never been trained in battle, she had never been in a fight, she had never drawn blood or been attacked before yet as the canines drew closer, her heart rate never sped up. She never felt panic. And when the first of the two reached her, she leaped out of range of its snapping jaws, putting her weight on her front hooves and sending a powerful kick back toward the first wolf. The second wolf was snapping at her front legs, drawing blood with its fangs. The pain stung, but the only reaction she gave was a flick of her ear as she reached down to secure her teeth in the scruff of the wolf's neck. She struggled to pick up the large beast, and settled instead for just biting down harder against its fur. The wolf yelped and she tasted blood. Had the other wolf not begun snapping at at her again, she would have kept a grip on the wolf between her teeth. Annoying things, really... Fergie released the wolf from her maw and it scampered away, wounded, but the first wolf continued its assault upon her legs, jumping up to attempt to snap at her belly, but another swift kick with a hind limb sent the canine sprawling, its pride wounded more than its body. All while she dealt with the hounds, there came another equine. Unfamiliar and young, charging into her home like she owned the place. Or was trying to save it. Fergie began to walk again, limping but otherwise unfazed, drawing closer to the now trio of tussling equines just as the ran began. Heavily. In an instant, she was drenched, the blood rinsed from her pelt and making the wounds sting. Must be a Versai, then. She whinnied, calm as can be, wondering just who would be most concerned to see her. "Mother's gone for help," A glance was given to the Versai mare. "More help, I should say." It was said in a tone that could easily have been amused, had it not been so dull. No point in trying to focus her energy on masking her true self when things were still chaotic. "So if you've quite finished... I think it's time for you and your pups to go on back where you came from, Helkaer."The last of her words were spoken directly to the mare, who she recognized now, dappled by the full moon. Fergie knew she wasn't someone to trust. Alas, her stupid mother had been too easily fooled, the idiot. Fergie would not be so easily tricked. TW: Blood, violence, languageNemesis could hardly feel the wound in her neck due to the adrenaline now pumping through her veins. She was sure she'd feel it later though. The predatory mare's focus was upon the silvery stallion who had targeted her. Her daggers had caught a brief portion of his flash as he ran past her. Nemesis didn't have enough time to respond to his retaliation and she felt his hooves land squarely upon her flank. Nemesis felt the pain flood her joint and she hissed in response as her balance shifted abruptly. The Helkaer private came down harder on the snow than she would have liked, but she did not tumble. Instead she pulled her back left leg closer to her bodice with some protest from the new injury. It didn't seem that anything was broken or torn, but it still hurt. That blow was enough of a distraction for Nemesis to catch another equine interrupting them.
Her violet gaze fell upon another mare who bore the Versai symbol and her irritation flared. The way the mare informed her that this was where her chaos would end. Nemesis laughed coldly as her eyes remained locked on the mare. She was memorizing her face, and every inch of her frame so that she could hunt her down later. Nemesis flicked her ears as one of her wolves let out a yelp and scurried off shortly after. The Versai bitch wasn't about to get away so easily though as rain poured down from overhead and extinguished her flames. The dull orange glow faded from Eacarrah's foliage, although she remained illuminated by the light of the full moon. "If only that were true. You better help that poor bastard over there before he dies... stupid enough to trade blood with a Cambion." Nemesis chuckled in a sinister fashion as she stepped forward to reveal the Cambion brand on the inside of her back left leg. While it usually was more satisfying to leave them in the dark on this, she wanted a further distraction from the fray.
She needed time to corner ther mare who now approached and suggested it was time for her to leave. Now her wild, predatory gaze rounded on the mare she'd encountered here when she was planning the raid. They weren't as close as the Versai bitch or the stallion she'd been trading blows with. Nemesis finally turned her head toward the stallion, although she had no idea if he was the leader or not. He lived here, and that was good enough. "Tell Gavin that this will not cease until he repays his debt to Sly. He agreed to pay, and this is just a fraction of what we can do to this herd if he fails to complete his end of the deal." Nemesis hissed. "While it's been fun... sleep with one eye open Versai bitch because I'm just getting started." Nemesis crooned as sickly sweet as possible in her twin's cadence.
Nemesis began to back away from the gathering bodies, and her wolves were quickly upon the heels of the stallion and Versai mare. She did not dare turn her back on them yet. It was a shame she would not be leaving here having decimated Eacarrah, but perhaps it was for the best. Finally she rounded her bodice with some stiffness upon the mare she'd met here. Nemesis had known she wouldn't fool someone so similar. "You. Either join me, or I will infect you too. You don't belong here, you're one of us. Join me and become the powerful and cruel entity you're meant to be. Or I will kill you and your family. That is a promise." Nemesis hissed to the mare she'd come here to take. "Speech here"Sunfrost , fleabittengray
Gavin bit Nemesis and tore open a wound on her neck but did not knock her off balance. She then tried to bite Gavin on his flank as she ran passed. Then when she turned around she ran back toward him to try and strike him.
Gavin landed a blow on Nemesis' back left flank, but was not knocked off balance.. he did affect her speed though.
She's just gonna attempt to direct Sani to Gavin bc he's been bitten by her and make her escape with Fergie
