It seemed like everyone else was busy. Directed. Purposeful. Anchored. Doing something. Aaradhya felt quite the opposite. Perhaps it was as a result of being uprooted as had happened because of the inferno that had raged through Toxin Raj. More likely, she suspected it had a lot more to do with the fact that her father was still missing. The fact that she had no idea what had happened to him, whether he had survived and escaped the flames or… or if… he had not… The question haunted her on an hourly basis. There was not a moment when thoughts of her father were not on her mind. That he might have succumbed to the fire was deeply distressing. But the not knowing was, at least in her opinion, far worse.
Unfortunately, despite all the time that she and Evereve had spent searching, thus far they had found no sign of her father. She and Eve had even gone back to Toxin Raj, receiving the permission of Nemesis to trace back their steps from that awful night and see if they could find any trace that might indicate what had happened to her father. Alas, whatever traces there might have been were already gone by the time they had been able to go back and look. Thus Aaradhya was left just as uncertain as before regarding her father’s fate. She would have given just about anything to know, yet thus far at least, any useful information had remained out of reach.
So the Draft femme seemed to find herself frequently wandering, just as she was doing on this particular day. She had gotten to know Clypeus quite well with similar wanderings over time, but on this particular day, she had found herself passing the border. Onward the silver bay sabino went, through lands shared by the Helkaer and beyond, skirting the borders of various territories until at last, she had reached the Free Lands. Her steps were meandering and slow, letting her hooves carry her wherever they would. Though there was a layer of snow upon the ground, it did not slow the eighteen point three hand damsel by much as she trod the Land of the Free, still paying little heed to her surroundings. x EMRYS It had been years since the mystery mare had come and attacked him in the dead of night. He had never been told who it was, though he always suspected that Respira had known his assaulter. He had never fully recovered from the attack, physically or mentally. Physically, his jaw still bothered him. It had not healed properly, making it sometimes difficult to eat or even to talk. The winter months, he found, were the worst on the joints of his improperly aligned jaw, but the heat was unbearable enough as well. Mentally, he suffered from depression and PTSD. He had not been able to continue living in Toxin Raj with Respira, despite being released from enslavement. He'd left the Outlands after healing from his attack and it was in the Free Lands that he'd remained. Today, his wandering had brought him to Iosis Lake. The summer sun was shining brightly, hanging high in the mid-day sky. His buckskin minimal sabino hide was glistening with sweat but at least it wasn't too terribly hot out to be unbearable. Just uncomfortable. Perhaps he would go for a short swim in the lake if it wasn't too crowded. He didn't see too many other equines out and about here today, though he didn't put much effort into looking. He meandered toward the lake, blinking slowly as his lower limbs entered into the cool liquid, splashing quietly. Would there ever be an answer to the most pressing question haunting Aaradhya’s every waking and sleeping moment? She and Eve had spent so much time searching for her father, with no luck. And though she had settled down in Clypeus – now known as Sinheim since Undead Legion had departed and Harlan had taken his place – Aaradhya spent at least a fair amount of time trying to search. In addition, she knew that Eve was looking, in between spy missions. Even during such times as she was spying, she still no doubt kept an eye open for any potential clues that could help them. Khalith, who was Eve’s father and a former member of Toxin Raj, was also keeping an eye out for clues as he explored the wide world of Wild Equines.
And yet, still, they knew nothing.
It was immensely frustrating, not knowing. And while the rest of the world kept on turning, equines continued going on about their business… Aaradhya simply could not go about her days as if a huge gap did not exist in her world.
Suppressing a heavy sigh, the silver bay sabino was relieved to find distraction in the sound of a nearby equine splashing. Lifting her head, she registered the fact that she had wandered into the land of Iosis Lake. And had been getting rather close to the edge. It probably was just as well that someone splashing had alerted her, elsewise she might have wandered right into the lake before realizing where she was. That might have been a tad embarrassing if anyone else was around to see it.
As it turned out, few equines seemed to be out and about. The equine who had caused the splashing that caught her attention was one of few at the lake, despite the summer sun beaming down on them.
Then she paused all movement, not just registering that an equine was nearby and had been splashing, but recognizing the aforementioned equine. Aaradhya had been aware of Emrys’ existence in Toxin Raj, though she had been a bit too preoccupied with other interests to pay much attention. She was aware her father had always had a bit of a paternal soft spot for the small brute. Also, she was aware that the poor fellow had been brutally attacked, leaving Toxin Raj after he had healed sufficiently.
Certain her father would be interested in ascertaining Emrys’ wellbeing, Aaradhya did not hesitate to whinny softly to announce her presence, calling out shortly thereafter, ’Hello Emrys.’ Character;; AaradhyaTagged;; fleabittengray w/Emrys Notes;; Sorry for the wait! x EMRYS He looked down at the water that now surrounded his lower legs. It was cold but comfortable in the water. He smiled at the simple comfort, his eyes closing as he let the water settle around him until it more or less stilled, no more ripples roughening its surface. There he stood, at ease though still listening to the world around him as best as he could. Partially deaf in both ears, he had always struggled to hear much of anything. He spoke too loud more often than not, and it made him feel embarrassed. These days he mostly spent in silent solitude, not interacting with many other equines anymore other than random citizens he ran into in the Free Lands. For the most part, however, Emrys was alone. He didn't think he would ever join a herd again. He was traumatized. He wondered why that mare had attacked him. Was it simply because he had lived in a Helkaer's land? Guilty by association? He shuddered, the slight tremble of his body causing ripples to form against the surface of the lake again. He lifted his head and gazed up toward the sky. It was sunny and hot out. A beautiful day. He should be enjoying it. Emrys did not hear the other equine approaching him, nor did he quite hear the introductory whinny that came as an initial greeting. It was only when the mare spoke that he noticed her, spooking slightly in the water, causing him to stumble as he hurriedly turned around to face her. ’Hello Emrys.’ He stared at her, blinking in confusion, not immediately recognizing the woman but as the memory of her came back, he offered a timid little grin. "'Ello," he said, though he did not attempt saying her name. It had terribly too many syllables to attempt after so long of not speaking it, but he did remember her now. It had been several long years since he had last seen her, of course, but he remembered her. Indi w/ Aaradhya 336 | Emrysnotes 5 years 1 month, summer, mid-day
