The Amaranthine Wars The Amaranthine Wars are the conflicts that have unfolded as a result of growing tensions between rulers of Utopia and the Underworld. At last, Lady Rasa of Utopia has had enough, and she has officially declared open warfare against Lord Xerxes and Lady Mictecacihuatl.
This thread will serve as a general guide and hub for all information regarding this site-wide plot. If you need any further clarity in respects to this event, please reach out to a staff member. general guidelines- Opted-in characters will be presented with 5 interactions over the course of the event. These prompt threads will include a situation, and options for how you might like to proceed. It is up to you how you move forward, but there are rewards for both players if the thread is completed. If you receive a prompt that seems completely out of character (or cannot be completed for some other reason) you are within your rights to decline the prompt. The more prompt threads you complete, the better your reward will be at the end of the event.
- Territory owners may also sign up their lands to be involved. Generally, the Lands of the Free will be the home of various interactions and battles, however opted-in herdlands may also be chosen for these interactions. Furthermore, any opted-in territories have a chance to be either cursed or blessed based on Afterlife presence in the area. Curses and blessings range from extra-fertile grazing land to 6 months of perfectly safe births, to a cambion plague outbreak to minor or major natural disasters.
- Some prompt threads will become battles. These will be performed by normal battle rules, but in the case of an Afterlife battle in a mortal territory, the territory may earn physical scars as well as the chance of a blessing or curse. These may fade over time and eventually disappear entirely, or become a permanent scar on the land - this is up to the land’s owner.
- When a battle between an angel and a demon takes place in an opted-in herdland, the winner may decide to take a soul from the herd as a protective measure, or as a trophy. The winner chooses which soul this will be at the conclusion of the battle (only from an opted-in character). If that character doesn’t wish their soul to be held by the Underworld or Utopia, they must petition the various Lords and Ladies to have it returned (either by way of release, or rescue by the other side). However, if the chosen character’s player completely hates the idea for any reason and does not want their character’s soul to be taken, they have the right to decline. The winner may then choose a soul from a more willing player within the herd, or simply leave without taking a soul at all.
- Rewards are based on the number of prompts completed. As mentioned above, each participating character will be presented with 5 prompts over the course of the event. Participating in a presented prompt thread but not completing it is worth partial points vs the full points gained from completion. Prizes include points, store items, and GP scaled by level of completion, as well as an art raffle after the event concludes, open only to those who score 100%.
- Completion for this event will be defined as at least three posts from each player per thread. It is encouraged to continue threads past three posts per player, however, the thread must be completed within the Act that it was assigned.
- At the end of Acts 1 and 2, characters may switch sides, new characters may join, and characters who have been playing may back out. However, it should be noted that characters who leave early will not be able to reach 100% completion in this event. Players must reach 100% with at least one character to qualify for 100% completion prizes.
additional informationplot structure Act 1: Rumblings of Thunder - Spying, intel gathering. mortals choose sides, the battle begins. Approximately May 1st 2023 - September 1st 2023. Weight: Mortal. Mortal actions favoured, mainly interactions in Free Lands. Impersonal.
Spying, gaining intel, and the beginning of feuding - The Underworld now knows that Utopia has Everest and Venari, the children of Xerxes. The Underworld captures Leviathan, son of Rasa, in retaliation. Nehemiah has vanished. Battles between angels and demons begin to trickle into the mortal lands, and consequently, are having an effect on the earth lands. Mortals begin to fight both verbally and physically, but mainly impersonally at this point, not to a grand scale. Act 2: World of Wildfire - Mortals and the dead alike do battle in Wild Equines. Approximately September 15th 2023 - February 25th 2024. Weight: Mortal/Afterlife. Both sides are in full swing, now including herd territories. Interactions now carry the more personal weight of two distinct sides as opposed to the vagueness and indecision of Act 1.
The war breaks out for real. Now with two unified sides, battles become much more personal and vicious. While Freelands are still used, herd territories are more frequently the site of various battles. The mortal world is starting to see the worst of the damage, including physical damage to territories as well as blessings and curses from Afterlife battles. Souls are taken from mortal herds, if anyone wants to use this mechanic. Act 3: The End of Days - The grand finale. The angels and demons’ battle reaches its climax. Approximately April 10th 2024 - August 20th 2024 Weight: Afterlife. Most mortals have faded into the background as the angels and demons make their final stands.
The last of the battles continue. The Amaranthine Wars - ANNOUNCEMENT
ANNOUNCEMENT: During times of war, individuals find themselves clinging to that which they cherish, or perhaps just entirely consumed by their emotions. Desperate to act, we have seen an increase in mating throughout the lands. Perhaps it is the influence of the Afterlife and their otherworldly powers, perhaps it is just by chance, but for the first half of Act 2 (September 1st - November 1st), we will be seeing an increase in twins and triplets born. For the duration of September 1st - November 1st 2023, each member will receive one free twin or triplet breeding. You do not need to post this item in the store in order to claim it. Please just link to this thread when creating a breeding and we will mark your name down here. You do not need to be participating in the war in order to use this. This is per member, but any one member can be involved in multiple breedings claimed here (ex. Ali and Icy can breed their characters twice, as that's one breeding for Ali, and one for Icy). The multiples breeding claimed here does not count towards the yearly total of 3. breedings used

The Amaranthine Wars - Act 2
Act 2: World of Wildfire - Mortals and the dead alike do battle in Wild Equines. Approximately September 16th 2023 - January 16th 2024.
REMINDER: The commencement of the war followed the events that occurred the year leading up to it. Lord Nehemiah was initially stolen by Ouija and Acacias, and delivered to the Underworld. Despite attempts to locate him, although lead to believe that her counterpart's absence was the doings of the Underworld, Rasa called a meeting of mortals and dead alike to discuss the matters at hand. It was here that she announced Lord Nehemiah's disappearance, and asked for aid. Everest, son of Xerxes, presented himself to this meeting. Following the gathering, Lady Rasa trapped him, and the Utopians fought together to capture him - despite the attempt at intervention by Dark Queen Thomasin and Helkaer Private Nemesis. Venari, twin of Everest, attempts to locate her brother. Instead, she is also taken captive by Lady Rasa. Leviathan, son of Rasa, attempts to locate Nehemiah. He finds that due to Nehemiah's time spent away from Utopia, Nehemiah's entity has been consumed by the mists of the Afterlife, and he no longer exists. Leviathan returns to the heavens and reports what has come to pass, despite attempts to halt him by the demon, Zeitgeist Several months have passed since Lady Rasa declared war against the Underworld. She called together her Utopians to tell them what had happened to Lord Nehemiah. She delivers visions to the Utopian Seers, Xovad and Judas, which aided in spreading the word of the conflict to the mortal realm. Since then, strife between mortals and dead alike has grown exponentially. Sides were chosen, loyalties and decisions questioned, and blood has been shed. Many equines of opposing alliances met head to head, and some encounters proved to be much more dangerous than others. Rasa was quick to find a replacement for Nehemiah - not out of disrespect for her fallen lord, but understanding it was her responsibility to ensure that Utopia did not lack. The successful candidate was none other than one she had ruled beside previously, Lord Cadence, who now has reclaimed his heavenly throne. His return from the mists, the bewildering force that influenced him to step away from his duty in the first place, has proven to be a promising sign in this dark time. While Rasa worked on fortifying Utopia, Lady Mictecacihuatl and Lord Xerxes also took action. Leviathan, who had been lucky to escape the Underworld the first time to tell the Utopians what had happened to Nehemiah, did not fair so well the second time. During a fateful encounter with Teca, he was taken captive, and now is being held prisoner in the Underworld. In addition, Xerxes has made a declaration: Any cambions allied with the Utopians have a choice. Either turn their back on the Utopians, or have them and the ones they love become the next victims of the Underworld's wrath. He threatens to remove strip them of their power - having others question if that is truly a possibility. He has already enlisted the Helkaer Brotherhood for assistance in this matter. Having more cambions side with the Underworld is dangerous for the mortals who support the Utopians. Once the Utopians catch wind of this, surely Lady Rasa and Lord Cadence will work to combat these efforts from the Underworld by creating and recruiting more nephilim - but will they be able to do this in time? And speaking of the brotherhood... When Lord Xerxes spoke to the Helkaer of his plan regarding the cambions, he also assigned them a task. Inertia, inhabitant of the Light Kingdom and reportedly former lover of Lord Nehemiah, has been a potent mortal supporter of the Utopians. He wanted the Helkaer to take this mare captive as an example of what could happen. Inertia now remains in the clutches of the Helkaer, and unfortunately, her future looks grim. Several battles were fought, one favouring the Utopians, the other the Underworld. Is this an indication of the way the war is heading? Or were these successes for each side mere luck?

The Amaranthine Wars - Act 3
Act 3: The End of Days - The grand finale. The angels and demons’ battle reaches its climax. Approximately April 10th 2024 - August 20th 2024. Weight: Afterlife. Some mortals may begin to hide as the supernatural take center stage. Others may see this critical time as their sign to become involved, for the contest between heaven and hell has begun to consume most of the world as they know it. Everyone is beginning to make their final stand.
The turbulent nature of war has now spread far across the land of Wild Equines. In the last several months, several more fights have broken out between the warring factions, and the weeks to come only promises more bloodshed. The disarray that has overwhelmed the world has been having effects that were far from expected. The Unknowable Mist has been expanding away from the edges of the Afterlife, and creeping further towards the core of both the Underworld and Utopia. No one was aware this was even possible... What does mean? Lord Xerxes' proclamation several months prior regarding the hunt for cambions may not have turned out the way the dread king had envisioned. His own son, Ragnar, had been murdered at the hands of the Versai member, Valfrid (Xovad), during his search. As revenge, Lord Xerxes has placed a plague upon The Highlands, promising the territories and all who reside within them their doom. But the supporters of Utopia were not the only ones to take a life. The Utopian supporter, Inertia, who had previously been taking hostage into the Outlands, has been killed herself. Important members of both the heavens and hell are being held as prisoners of war. Lord Cadence and Leviathan, son of Lady Rasa, are both being detained in the Underworld. Venari and Everest, the twin children of Lord Xerxes, still remain in Utopia... And now, the angels have Venari and Everest's mother, Akroma, too. There is a message to be delivered to Lady Rasa from the Underworld, carried by a child of both sides of eternity, Artemisia... The daeva holds the feathers of Cadence, Leviathan, and the fallen Nehemiah. It is a reminder of what the Underworld has taken, and what they want returned to them. The arrival of this message will initiate the talks between the leaders of the Underworld and Utopia, in order to coordinate a trade for the hostages they both possess. A vision will be sent out from the Afterlife... But this will not come from any angel or demon. Instead, this vision is coming directly from the Mist itself, and to all the seers who currently hold connections with the immortals (Xovad, Orel, Judas, Thomasin, Aelin and Wendigo) ( fleabittengray , ❅ Icy Dragon ✩ , Indi , A z z y , • illɘgal ◦ ). This vision will show a massive battle between the two warring sides, that ends in total destruction. Any seer that does not wish to see the world burn, might consider seeking the aid of the Vigilum ( Pippin , Sunfrost )... IMPORTANT TO KNOW:Roleplayers' actions in the war, particularly Act 3, will have a direct consequence on the outcome of war.
- In this Act, steals and prisoners will be important. Prisoners of war on each side will directly impact the outcome of the war. This will only count for steals made starting in Act 3. These steals must follow these rules:
1. They will be made only for characters signed up to participate in the war.
2. Automatic Steals will not be allowed.
3. The purchase of Immunities through the store will not be allowed.
4. Any steals made in the final month of the war (July 20th - August 20th) will not be required to wait at least two weeks/complete a thread between the stealer and the stolen prior to a challenge for the stolen being allowed.
5. Any steal used for the purpose of war for an official "prisoner of war" must state "War Steal" in the title.
6. Steals for other purposes/plot purposes involving non-war participants are allowed, and they do not have to follow the above guidelines. They will simply not count towards the outcome of the war. - Your overall activity in the war, and the side which your characters support, will have an impact on the outcome of the war. The uneven number of characters present on each side will be taken into account.
- There will be a group battle thread in this Act. This will not include any judged battles, but a free for all. Please feel free to include your characters (who are already a part of the war) in this thread - this thread will be a pivotal point in the war.
- Recall that individual battles will not count towards who wins the war, as we do not want the war dictated by which side has "the better battlers" or "better writers".
- If you have any incomplete threads at the end of this Act, there will be one last chance to obtain completion by getting your posts in in a final open group thread.

The Amaranthine Wars - Act 3
notes on battles
- If you are choosing to have no time limit for your battle, please ensure that the second-to-last post (the last post from the roleplayer who posted first) is completed no later than two weeks prior to the thread deadline. This ensures that the roleplayer who is posted last has adequate time to get their post in as well. Ex. Galaxy and Kero Scene are fighting, and we have no time limit on the battle. The thread must be completed by August 20th. I posted first in the thread. It would be unfair if I waited until August 19th to post my last post, only giving Gray one day to get theirs in. My last post should be completed by August 6th, so that Gray has the last two weeks to get their last post done.
- If in your threads you are having posts that are not a part of the battle either before or after the actual fighting, please ensure you clearly dictate when the battle posts start and end for the judges.
- If your character is participating in multiple battles, and the previous battle has not been completed, please follow these guidelines:
1. I have written in each war thread what number of encounter it is for each character, to better create a timeline for each writer. Please keep this in mind in your threads, particularly your battles.
2. It will be written as any subsequent battles will be at least 5 days following the previous.
3. You will start your character off at a health of 80%. This, in addition to the aforementioned 5 days between battles, will take into account healing of prior injuries they may have sustained. It can, if need be, also take into account the aggravation of pre-existing injuries if your character never did drop below 80% in their previous battle.
4. Writers are encouraged to head into multiple battles writing that they recognize that their characters have fought before and been injured. But as the injuries may be unknown, it is alright to be vague regarding them if that is the case. Judges will be made aware of this fact and will not deduct points for realism.
