Rumours of war had been bad enough, but an actual declaration by Utopia against the Underworld? Sokka knew that he had come quite a long way since first losing part of his foreleg. However, with the prospect of what a war -- even if it was technically between the Afterlife factions -- might mean for the mortal realms, he was feeling frustratingly useless. These days he could walk quite well and could even run when the situation called for it. However, if it came down to a fight, the lean bay stallion was not particularly confident that he would be able to manage in any meaningful way. How was he supposed to help defend his home and what family he had left from any threats that might arise like this?
Such thoughts inevitably led to thinking of his children and how much he had failed them as well. Sinne and Mathuin... what had happened to them? From what little he had been able to learn, it seemed that supposedly someone might have stolen them. However, by the time he had been around to ask questions, anyone who could have answered any of those questions was gone. Even if he had been whole and hale, there was so little he could have done to save them. And he had failed Macy too. It had taken a long time, but eventually, he had learned of her fate; namely, that she had passed away, still captive to the vile brute who had kept her a prisoner. A shudder ran through him at the thought. He doubted her passing had been in any way peaceful. And it had been his fault. If only he had approached the situation more tactically, instead of recklessly throwing himself at the problem. Considering how he usually was more methodical in such scenarios, it angered him that he had let emotion override everything else. And his family had paid the price for his stupidity.
Macy was beyond help, but his children? Despite the war that had been declared, Sokka could not help holding on to hope that maybe, just maybe... he could find them. Save them. Return his family as much to whole as was possible, despite everything that had happened. How he was going to do that, where he was going to find them, the three-legged stallion had not the foggiest notion. But that did not make him any less determined. x BLACK TIDE The fact that war was ravaging the lands once again in Wild Equines did not surprise him. The realm never lasted in peace for very long. Tide knew he wasn't the most peaceful of hellions, being a trained assassin and a former Helkaer member, but still - war was exhausting, especially when you had children to worry about. Had it just been himself to worry about, then sure, perhaps he would have dived headfirst into the war, aligning himself with the Underworld and fighting for fame and glory. But he had Kasdeya and Lamia to worry about. He couldn't just go throwing himself into battles willy nilly despite still being in his prime. He still had plenty of fight left in him, and with Scarlet Ice gone, he really didn't feel like he had much of a purpose anymore, other than raising his two remaining kids. Acheri, his firstborn, his darling daughter, was no longer in Wild Equines but had decided to go off and explore the world. He didn't know if he would ever see her again. He missed her so damn much, sometimes so much he wanted to go off and go find her, but she was an adult now... and she was strong. He knew she could handle herself well enough without him, but still, she had been his first little girl. His first child. Sighing softly at the memories, a faint smile on his lips, the dark bay prowled through the Bachelor Lands that dreary winter afternoon not expecting to really see anyone he knew. To be honest, the number of equines he knew were dwindling more and more every day. He had gone from a Helkaer to a nomad. No longer having a land to call his own. Never having resettled into a home, either. It was strange, how quickly life could change, in the blink of an eye. He wondered what the future held in store for him, for his children. It was as he pondered over the future that he just so happened to lift his head and glance slightly to the right. That was when he spotted an oddly familiar brute. Someone he had not seen in some time, but had met at least twice before. Whinnying to capture the other bay brute's attention, Black Tide began to make his way over to Sokka with a polite enough smile on his face. He didn't make friends often, rarely if ever did he get along with most, but Sokka... they had always gotten along, for whatever reason. "Sokka, hello," he called out once he was close enough, giving his head a casual dip in greeting. "Been a while since we last saw one another, hasn't it?"Indi w/ Sokka 452 | ProfileSo sorry for the wait!
