Where is everyone?
Silence befell the lands as though no one were around to make a sound. At least, no one other than the king of the mire. Jade Mire was an extravagant place to reside and to call home, Topthorn was definitely happy to call it his home. The mushy ground was soft under one's hooves and the waters were cool on a hot Summer's Day. It provided the inhabitants with an abundance of food, water, and nourishments. Anything that anyone could possibly want. The forests offered shelter from the harsh rains or from the blazing sun's heat, especially deep within the shadows. Of course, all of the land wasn't soft. In fact, there was quite a bit of firm ground that offered a solid place to relax. One thing that bothered the beast the most about the land was the insects that swarmed it during the humid summer days. Though, unbeknownst to many, the equines of the land weren't the only inhabitants that resided within its confines. There were plenty of other creatures, mostly dangerous creatures, to say the least. Some lurked within the depths of the water, while others lurked within the darkness of the scattered rocks that littered the land.
Will anyone join me?
Happy and excited to call Jade Mire his home and his kingdom, Topthorn made his way around the lands, checking for any signs of strangers. Not many seemed to bother Jade Mire, but one can never be too careful. As he made his rounds, he made sure to leave his scent, marking the territory lines and making sure that others knew the land belonged to someone. Of course, his mate was the Queen of the lands and if it wasn't for her, he wouldn't be king. His mind slowly started to wander to where his mate had gotten to, and what she was up to. He enjoyed spending time with her and his family, but there were always those times where one needed to be alone. Especially someone who had been through what he had been through. Being almost beaten to death causes one such trauma, but Topthorn was doing his best to control it. He wasn't going to let the trauma, that his father put him through, change him. Not now, not ever. He was determined to stay strong for his mate, his family, and his herd.
Call me lovestruck.
Life was going great since he'd returned. Sure, they'd lost a few members, but they had gone their own ways for positive reasons, and Topthorn was more than happy to see them enjoying their lives. His mismatched voids shifted across his lands as he came to a halt and just inhaled a deep breath. Breathing in the moist, yet humid air. Rain was on the horizon and with how humid it was, Topthorn welcomed it. He had allowed his mind to wander and thoughts to invade his subconscious as he had patrolled Jade Mire's boundaries. But, of course, most of the thoughts had no answers, yet. He had no idea where his herd was, or where his beloved mate was. Just as well, he didn't know if anyone would join him, but perhaps someone might. Whether they be wanting to join the herd, already in the herd, or just wanting to chit chat within the herd's boundaries. Only time would be able to tell if anyone joined the silver dapple sabino lord.
Speech. Thoughts.
Other's words.

The atmosphere smelled of rain, of a summer storm heading their way, but the sun was shining brightly down upon her as she wandered through Jade Mire. She could feel its warmth against her skin. It made her smile. She did not take the feeling of warmth from the sun for granted, not after being held captive and going years without feeling the sun shining upon her. Her trauma still haunted her, but Rain had learned how to live with it, for the most part. Some nights she still remembered what it felt like to be violated and she would tuck herself closer against Zoran's side, breathing in his comforting scent, and fall back into a peaceful slumber. Most days, she woke feeling refreshed and excited to face the day ahead of her. Today was a day like that, where she felt warm and safe and loved. It was a good day, despite the impending storms coming from the coast, from what she could tell. She was somewhere near one of the borders, following along the scent markers. She could tell that someone had been here very recently. The scents were fresh, and she recognized it of being one of the herd members. A masculine scent. Topthorn, she though, the lead stallion of Jade Mire. Wondering if he was still in the vicinity, Speaking Rain lifted her muzzle and let out a friendly whicker into the summer air. She listened for any signs of footsteps or a returning calling, taking her time in following the scent trail until she was able to pick up the scent from the source - or, at least, that's what she figured, anyway. "Topthorn?" the blind mare called out, sightless eyes looking (hopefully) in his general direction. "Is that you, or am I confusing your scent for someone else?" She chuckled, shuffling slightly closer, not wanting to intrude upon his personal space but always feeling much more comfortable herself when she was closer to whoever she was speaking with.
