Why not seek him out and ask him? Why live with such uncertainty? What stops you from finding out? All questions the pale demon had probed her with. It had been her first outing since returning to Wild Equines; and while it had started off shaky things quickly seemed to settle down. Zeitgeist had not known Sephora before her amnesia but she did openly share with him the past she had been told. Something that might have been foolish with a war ongoing- it was a conversation she noted to discuss with Kraken about. She had given him his space while they remained in the borders of The Howling Keep. She watched from afar as he healed from wounds leaving permanent scars and a hitch to his step. While Sephora did not fear approaching the orca-bellied beast, his very aura screamed to leave him alone and let him simmer. So she did. Not very often would she wander out of his sight for too long though, always making sure he could see her- even from afar. He might have been annoyed by her lurking presence and reminder of what he was surely chalking up as a failure- but he had been her safety blanket. Sephora talked to very few that lurked within the Royal herd. A few guards would offer her passing nods or words as they patrolled- but she did nothing to invite them in for conversation. Even at Selven’s coronation she had hung out on the outskirts and didn’t interact with a single soul. The very event had been an absolute nightmare for her and she truly wished she hadn’t gone. Her day to day life already consisted of deja-vu feelings that were begging to pick at the sanity in her brain. That specific event had her mind roaring by the end. Sure, she might have consumed a few too many fermented fruits and watched the entertainment of her half-sister slash open the face of a grey beast. She had stumbled away from the party, not entirely caring if anyone had noticed her unbalanced gait, and chose a quiet spot to lie down to try and ease the dizziness that had washed over her from the fruit. She had tucked her dial under a bridged forelimb and forced her eyes shut as she tried to find peace and silence. The faces from the party continued to flash in her mind. She didn’t know them yet her mind kicked and screamed in protest that she had known them. So in isolation she kept herself, much like Kraken did from afar. There were others from his herd that might have tried to speak with him- but she did not. He was all she really knew at this moment though and she wasn’t about to abandon the one thing she knew.
What stops you from finding out? Again echoed as Sephora knew what stopped her. Zeitgeist had questioned if she was loyal to anyone and it had been Kraken in her hesitant response. She was unsure if the ebon and ivory beast wanted her loyalty, or to be left alone completely. She could not speak for the rest of the herd and where their loyalty lie- but Sephora knew it was with the beast that had risked his life to save hers. He didn’t have to travel all that way out of Wild Equines. He didn’t have to answer the call of Akroma. So much could have happened the moment he left his home and yet he did it. He shooed away the grim reaper that waited to take her and let her live amongst his herd in his homes. He had her loyalty and she feared to tell him incase he drove her away. He was her one constant. The one thing, the one equine she knew and she could trust. Pledging her loyalty to him could be like ripping off the band-aid of the attack once more and if she lost him…. Then where would she go?
Sephora had still looked relatively rough when the attack happened and they left the Isle- her condition from her return to Wild Equines and not the attack from Hound. But she did not resemble that frail, skeletal figure on her return. Ribs and hip bones were replaced with her Spanish breeding curves and feminine frame. Sleek pelt pulled taut across a lightly muscled frame; the healthy shine that clung to her was proof of the proper nutrition. Mahogany tresses bounced and twirled with life around her slender limbs. Her stride elegant but confident as she crossed the familiar path into the Isle. Dished dial held high upon an arched boa as her iced vision scanned the misted Isle. It still looked like home. Home used loosely considering she didn’t even know the new leaders who thought themselves worthy to rule over the infamous isle. Initially, she had returned to The Howling Keep, only to be informed that the Isle had found new leaders and Kraken had already left the night before to return. Sephora was given a courtesy option to stay within the royal herd; but passed. She didn’t bother looking for the rest of the herd and assumed Kraken took them with him upon his return.
Had he tried to look for her before returning as well? The question rolling off her shoulders as she continued up the path. The sea breeze tickled her flared nares with the familiar scent of Kraken, amongst it many foreign to her empty memory folder. Twin harks stood perked upon her crown as she focused on the muted house that kraken used to reside in. She took a step towards it before the wind seemed to push her away and pulling at her to travel down a separate path. Sixteen point two hand frame had turned to follow before she glanced over her shoulder towards the darkness within. Did the new leaders watch her from within? How long until she met them? Perhaps the polite thing to do would have been to find them and introduce herself first considering she was on their lands but she wanted to speak with Kraken. A vision still stained the inside of her lids. A quick flash of a foal by her side. It had felt so real, but the roaned youngster was unidentified. Sephora wanted to see the picture again. Wanted to see if she could get more flashbacks- this being the only one she had but maybe there was more. Zeitgeist had brought it out in a less than thrilling way and while the two seemed to find an almost friendly ground by the end, she was not about to trust the beast in such a compromising position once again. Kraken might know more information or be willing to help though. He she would trust.
Curvaceous frame followed the game trail and tickling, masculine scent until she found herself standing before another structure. Smaller in size and attached to the glassy lake that wished to bounce more light off its surface had the mist allowed. Kraken, her soft tones carrying towards the structure she presumed he was in. This being the first time she had called for him. Admittedly feeling guilty as he just returned and was probably processing enough that he didn’t need to deal with her selfishness. Do I have a foal? the question would seem silly to outsiders that didn’t know her story. Her words a bit hollow and lost as she still clung to the picture hoping it meant her memories were somewhere in there. Would the question would be enough to entice the beast to come out and play?
