MADAGASCAR
made by remi of rilla go! and adoxography
She had fled from the raid when the Helkaer had come to Eacarrah. The fire had been too much. Fergie had been right; she was useless when it came to fire. Seeing the flames had made her remember the fire that had burned her years ago; the scars still littered her bodice, evidence of the injuries. She had run to try and seek help for her home, returning only after a Versai mare named Luna had put the flames out, saving her home from the worst of the wreckage. However, she had also discovered something else. Her daughter had been taken. She'd last been seen walking off with the Helkaer mare and her crew of misfits, and Maddy had not seen or heard from her daughter since. It would not be hard, in theory, to track her daughter down (surely Fergie was being kept prisoner somewhere in the Outlands) but still, she'd done nothing in terms of getting her daughter back. Why? ...Because she was a coward. That was why. When it came to physical altercations, she was useless. Helping others, making them feel safe, that was where she excelled, but defending herself? Defending others? Fighting in general? What was the point of her even trying!
Ever since the raid, Maddy had been dealing with intense depression and feelings of failure. She knew she had to go help her daughter but secretly, a part of her wondered if maybe the Helkaer was better off raising Fergie. She hated that she thought Fergie was better suited for the Brotherhood than the Neutral Kingdom, but... she'd always known her daughter had a darkness inside of her. Everyone who met her would probably say the same, if you asked while Maddy wasn't around. Fergie was strange. Unusual. It was not easy being around her, not even for her mother, and that was another thing that Maddy felt guilty about because a sick part of her was relieved that Fergie was gone! How messed up was that? What kind of mother was she, happy to have her daughter out of her hands? Snorting abruptly, Maddy stomped a hoof down into the grass she was standing it, jostling a butterfly away from a flower they had been resting on.
Maddy watched the butterfly as it fluttered around her, sighing as it then flew off into the distance. She was frowning, clearly troubled, and though she was hungry she found she couldn't stomach eating anything. She was too worried and feeling so guilty about everything. She dared not speak of it to anyone, though, for fear of them thinking negatively of her... After all, no mother wanted to admit that they had failed at raising a good, kind hearted child.
