The little mare stood out among the plants around her. The white splashes and speckles on the dark undercoat made her too obvious a target sometimes. She stood , watching, and waiting, wishing she was elsewhere. She was here out of obligation for choosing a side. She wanted to meet the others who had answered the call. Who knew more of the story. She admitted, to herself only, that she only knew enough to make snap judgements. Hearing of kidnappings met with violence and more kidnappings had sent her to the most unexpected side, at least for herself. She had never settled on an alliance, too happy to do as she wished, but if she'd ever been forced into a side, she'd have inherently chosen that of the light or maybe Neutral... but now? Now she had no idea. So she'd come to a place full of poison to find out about the other's she now stood with. She started to meander through the fields of wild things. Poison, she'd been told, and so she didn't eat anything, at least not right now. She had no reason. She did keep both her ears and blue eyes open to the world around her, expecting to find others. She'd been told there would be other's who were here to defend the Underworld's honor. She'd met fair few of them. More of the ones from the other side. Utopia. Who'd kidnapped first. She didn't know why, she did wonder. Her steps were sure as she moved through the plants, head dropping here or there to peer at a strange plant every once in a while. She came to a stop when she heard a sound behind her, someone was coming. She spun, ears swinging back a bit, feet light, ready to bolt if she needed too. "Hello? Who are you?" She snapped to the unknown being, aware that she was as likely to meet a friend as a foe, but more inclined to be wary. Words: 331 Notes: Liath's at a weird point in her head... Maybe if he was being optimistic, he would say that travelling to where he had was going to provide him with valuable experience. And it would, possibly, but he wasn't feeling quite so positive about it. He knew that anyone he encountered here were likely to be the worst of the worst, what with this being the territory controlled by the Helkaer Brotherhood, after all. In comparison to the cut-throat individuals who made up the Helkaer, he was small and insignificant - surely that was what they all thought. He might be someone of status and importance elsewhere, but to the Helkaer, his title meant nothing. Wasn't that what they were all about, after all? Opposing royals? Maybe he did not claim a Dark Royal position, and therefore was not one of the Helkaer's most well-known opponents... But maybe that was even worse. Maybe that meant that as a Neutral Royal, he was even less than nothing to them. Well, whatever the case was... He was here, and there was no changing that. He would have to deal with whoever he encountered as best as he could... And hope that his efforts in coming here could help his work towards the war.
King Avinash had spent the initial few months of the war keeping busy. He had kept an ear to the ground - travelling through the Lands of the Free to see what rumours were being spread about the conflict, conversing with equines of all different sorts. He had attended multiple events regarding changes in power of different factions - both for Lord Cadence of Utopia as well as King Hunroor of the Light Kingdom. He had gone through the efforts of replacing his own queen, when Queen Orel had vanished. Despite all this, he felt as though he had accomplished little. He had not made any progress in actually benefiting the Utopians, in his opinion, and so he sought to change that. Now, he was not the most contentious of individuals - certainly not the most capable soldiers there was out there. But he was courageously travelling to the lands of his opponents nonetheless, seeking opportunity to calm the storm, to help Utopia. Whether he would be effective in that effort remained to be seen... And while he had hope, he was also realistic in that he could only do so much.
The domain he had come to was one that he was unfamiliar with, having never have traversed to The Outlands prior to today. He had little idea who owned the terra, or what kind of equines were housed within it. For this reason, he remained largely on edge - his bay tobiano bod tensed, ready in case he was quickly met with aggression. It seemed that the first being he would encounter, however, would not so swiftly bring the onslaught. "Hello? Who are you?" A voice said to him, bringing is attention 'round upon the mare. Her voice was sharp, and her stance standoff-ish, but she was not charging at him... Just yet. So he would take that as a win. His muscles remaining stiff beneath his thrice-toned pelt, he commented evenly back to her, "Avinash. And you?" He did not immediately speak his title, figuring it would do him no favours here... So for the time being, he would see how their conversation played out.

"Avinash and you?" The stallion spoke to her, and the name tickled at her brain. She didn't know the leaders well, but she knew of them. She'd never met this stallion though. He was splashed like her, though no spots, and her blue roan was a mismatch for his bay. She bobbed her head a bit in greeting. No need to be rude until she knew why this horse was here. She wasn't sure if he was Helkaer or not. With how leery he was, she doubted it. But she was leery too. This place wasn't safe. No where was, as far as she knew. "Liath." She answered quickly, shifting a bit from foot to foot, nerves showing. She hated it that she was giving away her nervousness, but it wasn't like she could stop herself. She forced herself to relax all the same, tilting her head a bit, then glancing away from the stallion to the land around her. She didn't see anyone nearby. So she didn't relax. Danger was still abound. "What brings you here, to Toxin Raj, on this fine day?" She smiled a little, ears perking up. A mask, but one she needed to calm down. Play the part of the pretty mare who had no idea what was happening. After all, if it came to a fight, she wasn't likely to win. She knew that instinctively. She was no fighter, not really. Running away was her style. Running and tricks. She had no tricks here, not now. Not really. So she tried to hide herself in a mask and hope she didn't need to prove anything. Who knew if she'd get that chance. Words: 278 Tag: Liath for Avinash/ aliyaah Notes: Sorry this took so long, muse is being weird!

Avinash was greatly on edge, and surely, that was worn upon his bod. He had to be ready in case this encounter went south, and as a result, he felt his muscles remaining in a coiled state beneath his pelt. Ready to be released, ready to throw his body into action if necessary. As the days of the war went on, he kept considering how much he did not want to battle, but accepted it as an inevitability. As king, he had been raised to be at least adequately prepared should someone come to challenge him, or should he need to accept a fight on behalf of his kingdom. That did not mean, however, that he was the most adept at fighting - nor was it something he desired to do. But yet, he gathered he was counting down the mere moments until it would be asked of him for this feud... After all, how much good was he truly accomplishing on behalf of the Utopians, otherwise? Was he really making any stride for them, his neutrality in attempting to keep the peace benefiting them in any way? Advancing them towards a win? Truly, he probably wasn't... So would it be more effective for him to put himself into harms way, throwing himself into the fray? Or would that simply lose the Utopians a soldier prematurely?
"Liath." The mare answered hastily, and he noted how she shifted between limbs. She appeared nervous... But why? Surely, if she was an inhabitant here, she had the upper hand... And he could not imagine that whoever ruled in these lands would put someone uncertain of themselves on a border patrol of any kind. He denied the sensation that his inquisition caused him as a result of her clear unease, not wanting to demonstrate to her that he was well aware of what she was showing... Though likely, she knew how obvious her actions were. "Normally, I'd say it was a pleasure to meet you. But considering the trying times we live in, I am a little more skeptical of those I meet... And it may take me more time to make that judgement." His words were both genuine in reply, but also displayed his hesitancy, his caution. The equines he knew of the dark alliance, particularly those who were a threat to him, were generally not one for small-talk... If Liath intended on being a risk to him, he gathered she would quickly grow weary of his small talk, and make her disdain for it known. Until then, he would press onwards. "What brings you here, to Toxin Raj, on this fine day?" She inquired of him, her civility almost catching him off guard. Once more, he took his answer into deep deliberation - not wanting to give away too much, yet trying to see if her curiosity and affability was authentic. "The conflict in which the world finds itself brings me here, to be quite honest." He did not give away too much, while making it clear it was the war that had driven him here. "Do you live here?" He then asked, probing for information, though still doing so politely.

Well the stallion wasn't being threatening... yet. She lifted her head a little, watching him carefully. "That is a fair assessment of the world. Having caution is never a bad idea." She added gently, aware she was technically 'safe'. This was her side's land, wasn't it? She believed so, either way. Still, she was aware of her place in all of this. Peon. Sometimes she wondered at her choices in life. They were made, and there was no going back now.
His question was pointed. Lying would make sense, but she wasn't one for doing so unless she had too. "No. I'm exploring. I don't have a home, and sometimes it's good to know places before you end up there, you know?" Half truth. She was exploring... just not for a home. The conflict had brought him here. "Are you looking for a fight then?" She asked, using his calmness to calm herself down. He wasn't angry, and that was enough for her. She settled a bit, that too calmness she'd pulled off becoming more and more real as she spoke. She let a leg relax, tilting her a bit to the side. Not a threat see? She knew it wouldn't last long, but she wasn't too enamored with the idea of fighting. "I'd rather not, but that's just me." There was a note of annoyance that there was even a fight to be had. She was becoming disillusioned with the whole idea in general, it seemed, though she managed to not look annoyed, at least.

Despite the calmness in Avinash's words, and despite the fact that he did not display any sort of aggressive behaviour, he noted how the mare still remained wary. He could not blame her for being on the defensive. Even if he was not being combative, he was still cautious as well - he knew that equines who allied with the dark alliance could be tricky, and he wouldn't be surprised if this woman suddenly launched herself at him out of nowhere. Perhaps hoping to catch him with his guard down. He wouldn't let himself be taken advantage though... And with that thought in mind, he found his viridian gaze quickly wandering to their surroundings, scanning the area around them to confirm that the pair of them were alone. He also wouldn't be surprised if suddenly, more guards of this dominion showed up, and he was swiftly outnumbered. Why did he think this was a good idea, again? "That is a fair assessment of the world. Having caution is never a bad idea." Her own vocals were gentle, and when the Neutral King spoke again, his tone mirrored hers. "Indeed. Life is a little less... perilous, that way." He commented in response, nodding his pale facade in agreement.
He never knew whether or not he would receive an honest answer from beings who associated with the Helkaer, but Liath's seemed genuine. "No. I'm exploring. I don't have a home, and sometimes it's good to know places before you end up there, you know?" At the very least, he did not know what Liath would have had to gain by lying about such a thing here. It did make him wonder, however... After all, he was acutely aware that he had crossed into territory belonging to the brotherhood... Some of the most cut-throat equines that there were. He knew that they did not take kindly to those who simply wandered as they pleased. So if Liath was exploring, she was being allowed to do so. Which likely meant that the Helkaer had little issue with her... And that said a lot. "It is." He responded simply, before adding rather knowingly, "This one might be a bit of a risky place to just explore, however..." Once again, he found his optics flickering around nervously, once again ensuring that there were no other equines present. When the lady spoke once more, his attention rounded back upon her. "Are you looking for a fight then?" She asked of him, and he felt himself eyeing her - wondering if her asking about a fight, meant that she was about to initiate one. But she had not changed her demeanour, had not given indication of assault. So he told her, carefully, "No." Words spoken slowly, and deliberately, he told her, "I'm looking to help stop the fighting." It was then that Liath seemed to relax a slight bit, resting more casual upon a cocked hoof. "I'd rather not, but that's just me." He refrained from allowing the forceful sigh to leave him, as he knew it would indicate the relief he felt. He didn't want her to know how comforted he was by her sentence, just in case. "Something we can agree on." He nodded once more.
