As determined as ever she had been to make the world a better place than what she had found, one could not help feeling a bit discouraged from time to time. Especially with the way things had been going of late. War had broken out, a conflict that had begun between the Afterlife factions, but inevitably had boiled over into the mortal plane. How many equines had already been impacted by this? And how many more would pay the price for it? Native Dancer wished that she knew more about precisely all that had taken place that had led to the declaration of war. That such a declaration of war had originated from Utopia had come as a bit of a surprise. She had been more familiar with a previous Lady of Utopia, Oderia -- and would be forever grateful for the aid that the pale Lady had given when Nati had been most in need of it -- but from all that she could recall, rashly throwing the world into the chaos of war was not something she would have expected from Lady Rasa. If it was not some brash action for no apparent reason, that naturally raised questions. Unfortunately, thus far Nati had not had the opportunity to speak with the Utopian leadership to get an idea of what had led to the declaration of war. By the same token, she had not had a chance to speak with the Underworld leadership to get their side of the story.
So much to do. So little time.
At least she no longer had to work on her own. There had been years as a Vigilum in the past where not only had the list of things to do been endless but help in getting any of it done had been in short supply. Add to that raising her twin daughters at the time and Nati looked back on those days and wondered how she had managed not to lose her mind with it all. A smile curved her lips in amusement at the thought... perhaps she had not retained her sanity after all? Some might suggest her return to the fray as a member of the Vigilum once more might suggest a sort of madness. Oh, but she had no regrets whatsoever in jumping back into things. No matter how events might discourage her from time to time, no matter the toll upon time and energy, no matter how crazed it might be to throw herself back into all this, Nati did not hold any regrets.
After all, she was just as dedicated now to making the world a better place as she had been all those years ago when first she had pledged herself to the Vigilum. x NELLY Nelly was not a fan of war. She was not a fan of violence in general, had never taken a liking to fighting and training beyond basic self-defense needed to survive in the wild. She kept herself in shape mainly by running, her muscular physique making it look like she was a fighter when really she was just someone who didn't want to become weak and possibly overweight by living a sedentary life. She was off on one of her runs now, preferring to go early in the morning before most of the world had risen from their slumber. She had taken the path to the Free Lands, emerging into Iosis Lake relaxed and ready to run. Her muscles were properly warmed up from the journey and, with a smile, the black Frisian pushed off of her powerful hind limbs and leaped forward. The air was chilled but comfortable as she drew in deep inhaled of the oxygen around her. She wore a partial smile on her face as she ran, limbs stretching out and carrying her across the terrain toward the shore of the lake at a sprint. Calculating the distance carefully, she began to turn so that she could run more along the lakeshore than toward the lake itself. The earth was fresh, the soil damp, and she felt great. She made it about half-way around the lake before spotting another equine in the vicinity. Figuring it was a good enough time to take a break, only slightly sweaty and panting, Nelly slowed her pace to a trot and nickered warmly in the direction of the other mare. She figured she had a 50/50 chance of it being a friend or foe, given they were in warn times, but Nelly wasn't frightened. She rather be polite than standoffish and cause a problem right off the bat. So while she approached the mystery equine, she dipped her head respectfully. "Good morning, what brings you to the Lake today?" She asked curiously once she was within a conversational range. Perhaps so early in the morning was not precisely the best time to be meeting equines and keeping tabs on all that was going on. However, Native Dancer had gotten quite accustomed to being up early -- not to mention functioning on very little sleep, to be quite honest -- when first tending to her patient. He was doing so much better these days, but there were still worrisome moments. Times when she found herself awakened by some indefinable instinct just at the right instant to help the Draft through a difficult spell before he could settle back down. Given his advanced age, perhaps it was no surprise that it had taken such a long time for him to recover from what he had endured. Nati did not think she had ever seen anyone as badly off in the entirety of her life. And considering her sire, she had seen equines in some less than ideal states of health even before she had joined the Vigilum once the group had been formed.
At any rate, she was out and about now. Enjoying a breeze that was not quite too chilly just yet, despite the advancing of the season. It would not be long now before winter had arrived upon the lands of Wild Equines and snow would cover much of the lands. However, for now, the weather was pleasant and Nati was glad of the chance to be visiting Iosis Lake on a day such as this.
It looked as though she was not the only one out enjoying the early morning as her dark gaze caught sight of a Friesian mare galloping along the shore of Iosis Lake. Just as she took note of the galloping Friesian, it would seem that the inky mare had spotted Nati as well, given that she appeared to be slowing her pace and heading in the direction of the buckskin. Given the warm nicker of the stranger, the fourteen point two hand tall femme moved to help close the distance enough that they could converse comfortably, nickering warmly in answer. She answered the nod with a similar gesture, a friendly smile curving her lips.
"Good morning, what brings you to the Lake today?" the Friesian queried conversationally.
Shrugging a little, Nati smiled as she answered candidly, 'I suppose I was hoping to socialize a bit. Get an idea of how everyone is doing of late. It seems that the Lake is where my hooves have brought me in order to do so, though it perhaps is a bit early.' Still smiling, she added, 'I hope I did not interrupt your run?' x NELLY Her breathing quickly and easily evened out again as she and the other mare approached one another at slow, steady walks. Nelly had a grin spread far across her lips, happy that the stranger had given another equally warm and welcoming nicker, accompanied with a smile of their own. Nelly did not recognize who this mare was, but she did not find that to be important, either. There were always new equines coming here to the realm! And Nelly couldn't be expected to know every name and face that had ever existed here before. That was much too much to be expected from her, even given her rank in the royal lands as One Who Guides. That was another reason she had come out to the Free Lands today. How could she guide the royals if she did not know what was going on in the realm of Wild Equines itself? Safe to say she took her job seriously, so she was eager to get to know this potentially friendly stranger. The other mare shrugged once they had both stopped, facing one another, a semi-warm breeze dancing around them and causing the nearby surface of the water to ripple gently. 'I suppose I was hoping to socialize a bit. Get an idea of how everyone is doing of late. It seems that the Lake is where my hooves have brought me in order to do so, though it perhaps is a bit early.' That sounded like quite a pleasant reason to be out in the Free Lands, Nelly had to admit. 'I hope I did not interrupt your run?' To that, the aging mare chuckled and shook her head. "No, no you didn't interrupt me, love. I just saw you and figured, what better time to take a break from my running than when the opportunity to meet a new friend presents itself?" Her words were warm and hopeful, ears twitching casually upon her head to listen to the world around them - just in case others may approach, for whatever reason. You never knew what would happen out in the Free Lands. Especially now. "I'm Nelly, from Meraki Woods. What about you?" She figured it was a good thing to mention where she was from. On the off chance that this was en enemy, they would now know that someone would come looking for her if she disappeared. Nelly, however, was fairly certain this mare was going to wind up being friendly. Indi w/ Native Dancer 412 | Profilenotes 10 years 8 months, autumn, early morning

The warm smile Native Dancer offered the other mare was answered by a happy grin that spread upon the lips of the stranger. A relief to see, considering the tense atmosphere in the lands of late, what with a war ongoing. True, the smile could be a lie, but the moment any uttered lie passed those lips, Nati would know. One of the particularly useful gifts of being a Vigilum, even if it meant that she could not utter any lie herself. Thankfully, only once in her life had she ever truly had a need to utter any lies and even then, she had done her best to either minimize or outright avoid telling any lies. No easy feat, but keeping Dynasty's father safe from her father's vengeance had been worth the challenge. Despite what he had done to her, at least he had shown remorse and done his best to make up for what he had done. Unlike any of the others involved in the nightmare attack that had resulted in the conception of the twins. Given his efforts, she had forgiven him and granted him a chance to be part of her daughters' lives. Particularly considering the period of time when she had been entirely alone as a Vigilum... having the extra help from him and others in his herd had been a blessing indeed.
Within conversational distance with the stranger, who was a good couple of hands taller than the buckskin's own scant fourteen and a bit hands of height, Nati angled her head to smile up at the inky femmora, who chuckled, shaking her head as she answered, "No, no you didn't interrupt me, love. I just saw you and figured, what better time to take a break from my running than when the opportunity to meet a new friend presents itself?"
The warm and hopeful tones were a pleasant contrast to all the conflict going on in their world at present, drawing a nod from the petite buckskin, who answered, 'I'm glad I did not interrupt you. The opportunity of meeting a new friend does seem like a good time to take a break from such things as running.'
"I'm Nelly, from Meraki Woods. What about you?" Introduction and query given, Nati recognized Meraki Woods as being the location wherein the Neutral Royals now resided.
As for an introduction of her own, Nati smiled, answering, 'I am Native Dancer of Mount Vigilum. You may call me Nati if you like.' Character;; Native Dancer Tagged;; fleabittengray w/Nelly Notes;; <3 Timeline;; 16 yrs old; mid-autumn, early morning

x NELLY It seemed this meeting was going to go well, from what she was currently experiencing. The other mare seemed just as warm and friendly as Nelly herself was! It was nice to run into someone who was pleasant and had a good attitude, instead of the heathens that could often be found wandering and lurking in the Free Lands. She wanted to make more friends in her life, not enemies, but those cruel of heart made it difficult to find strangers that she would be willing to befriend. She wanted no such darkness in her life! She had faced darkness in the past and she did not want to face it again. It pained her to know so many got tangled up in the web of shadows that those cruel equines spread, encouraging them to get wrapped up in lies and manipulation. It was disgusting. Nelly wouldn't hurt a fly. She couldn't imagine what traumas someone had to go through to be turned so cold. 'I'm glad I did not interrupt you. The opportunity of meeting a new friend does seem like a good time to take a break from such things as running.' The buckskin mark spoke in response to Nelly and the Frisian chuckled, giving a nod of her head in agreement. "Always have time to make a friend," she said with a slight laugh, happy and content in the moment. She felt she had nothing to fear from this woman. It was just a feeling she had, she couldn't prove if this mare was harmful or not. She could be an absolute liar, if she wanted to be. 'I am Native Dancer of Mount Vigilum. You may call me Nati if you like.' Finally, a name came as introduction - but that was not all that Native Dancer introduced herself as! "Oh, you're a member of the Vigilum?" she asked, curious, the question popping out of her mouth before she could stop it. "And it's wonderful to meet you, Nati." She remembered to add one, smiling sheepishly since she'd only remembered at the last second to acknowledge the name of the other. There was such relief to be found in coming across other equines who were willing to engage in friendly conversation. With the tension of war upon the lands, it was even more rare than usual. True, Native Dancer could hardly blame anyone for avoiding the inherent risks of being out and about, beyond the protection that one's herd could afford. In fact, she found herself very grateful that neither one of her daughters had any particular interest in venturing far from Mount Vigilum, content to keep an eye on things near where their long-time patient resided, rather than heading out to explore the wider realm. Not that she wanted to encourage them to be afraid. It deeply saddened her that they seemed to struggle so much with anxiety and paranoia, unable to easily mingle the way she had always managed. Where she had adventured relatively early in life, investigating the wide world beyond home to find her place in the world, the twins had never strayed far. And while she could not deny finding comfort in knowing where they were at all times and knowing them safe as a result... if she could help them break free of their fears, she would happily do so without hesitation.
"Always have time to make a friend," Nelly was saying and Nati was glad to have the distraction from thoughts that had threatened to spiral into melancholy.
Smiling, allowing a soft laugh of her own to escape, Nati answered, 'Agreed.'
Immediate interest lit the taller mare's eyes when Nati mentioned about being from Mount Vigilum. She supposed that Nelly had not seen the brand that signalled her position as a Vigilum... however, given the other mare's height and the fact that her brand had turned out to have appeared mostly on her chin and lower lip, it was hardly surprising. Of course, saying that she was of Mount Vigilum had not always meant she was officially a member. Years of necessary "retirement" had ended only a short while before, but she had never truly left. Not since those days when first the group was formed. Now, she was all that was left of those days. Akela and Caiomhe had vanished, Johanna had been killed, and Allegro had passed away. The thought made her feel positively ancient. Shaking off the thought, she smiled, nodding as she answered, 'I am indeed a member of the Vigilum. So if there is ever anything you need, do feel free to ask!'
A slightly sheepish smile touched the Friesian's lips as she added, "And it's wonderful to meet you, Nati."
Inclining her head warmly, the buckskin answered sincerely, 'It's wonderful to meet you too, Nelly.' Character;; Native Dancer Tagged;; fleabittengray w/Nelly Notes;; <3 Timeline;; 16 yrs old; mid-autumn, early morning

x NELLY Nelly had lived in the Neutral Kingdom for a very long time now. She had first come to the Royal Lands when Lord Mortif was King, where she served as a healer for the herd. This was before the Vigilum's time, of course, and had the Vigilum been a thing back then, perhaps she would have considered joining. But now, she had made a home and a place for herself in the heart of the Neutral Kingdom, now serving the King and Queen as a sort of "guide" through the ins and outs of ruling said Kingdom. Nelly had never been a Queen before, but that did not mean she did not have good ideas on how to run a Kingdom, or at least, good advice to give. She had done well for herself in Wild Equines and was proud of not only herself, but her children. Ebony Sequence had passed at a young age, but Crow and Halona and her adopted son Keshav were all thriving. She loved all three of them dearly. Halona and Keshav lived with her in Meraki Woods, but Crow lived in Dark Woods, as a warrior, who had undergone training by the stallion known as Decay, who served as General to Dark Woods. So really, despite the war ravaging the Kingdoms, Nelly's life wasn't so bad. She could only hope that it continued to be this way, for a very long time, and that no harm came to her friends and family during the course of the war. Agreed.' Nati chuckled slightly as she spoke and Nelly grinned. She was happy to have run into Nati today, instead of someone who may cause an issue. 'I am indeed a member of the Vigilum. So if there is ever anything you need, do feel free to ask!' Nelly nodded, giving a small and thoughtful hmm as she considered the words. "Perhaps I will come see you at the mountain one day, to brush up on my knowledge of herbs. Has been a while since I played a role as healer, but I think it's an important skill to have. If that's alright with you, of course." She didn't want to be stepping on any toes or anything. Though, honestly, Nelly believed there could never be enough healers. 'It's wonderful to meet you too, Nelly.' Nati sounded so genuine and warm. It was nice speaking with her. "How long have you been a Vigilum? I am ashamed to admit that, despite living in Wild Equines for several years now, I do not know much about the group."Indi w/ Native Dancer 431 | ProfileI added a starter to my list of Nelly coming to Mount Vigilum for herb training if that's okay? <3 10 years 8 months, autumn, early morning
