Childish laughter echoed behind him as Brynjar slipped free of the thick vegetation that separated Dimato Meadow from the rest of the lands. He enjoyed his time in Dimato Meadow, even if the other foals he met often still confused him. Their lighthearted play was still quite at odds with the serious little lad, who had known nothing but tense anxiety and an unending search for as long as he could remember. At least since he was born, anyway. His mother was a gentle soul and it would have distressed her deeply to think that his young life had been impacted in any way, but... it could hardly be helped. While he did not know the particulars of his mother's history, he knew she had few good memories. As well as a host of horrible ones. There was hardly a night that went by when he was not pulled from a peaceful slumber curled up against her side, his mother shaking in the throes of yet another nightmare. Then there was the way she dealt with interactions involving strangers. Such anxiety... for the most part, she tried to avoid everyone, but even she had to acknowledge that finding her missing sister and son would require talking with others, at least to some extent.
Thus, Brynjar's experience with common childhood activities or even mannerisms was scant at best. In fact, the only reason he ever ventured into Dimato Meadow was because he hoped that maybe there might be some clue or information that they had missed, because Mama could not get past the boundary to search herself. Of course, by this point, both his aunt and big brother would be too old for Dimato Meadow themselves -- just as Brynjar himself was nearly too big as he neared his second birthday in a few months, but it was possible the brother he had never known might have once visited here when he was smaller. Or perhaps one of the other foals might know something and would happily chat with him, when they might not be so comfortable talking with his mama. That was the theory, anyway. One that Brynjar himself had concocted, when he had seen just how distressed his mother was becoming, the longer it took to track down Tegwen and Valdus. He loved his mama dearly and if there was some way that he could help her... he would give anything to see her happy.
Unfortunately, today just as every other time he had tried to find clues regarding the missing members of the family... there had been no luck. After so long, Brynjar could not help wondering if it was even possible to succeed at this point. Not a sentiment he would ever voice to his beloved mama, of course. He knew how much it already hurt her that she had not yet been able to find Tegwen and Valdus; he suspected that the idea of them being gone, of being unfindable would be an excruciating thing.
So he kept looking and hoping, spending at least some portion of the day nosing around in places his mother would not.
Traversing Kular Valley now, the mostly brown grasses crunching underhoof as he loped easily along, Brynjar was on his way back to his mother. Maybe she had better luck today? At the very least, he wanted to check on how she was doing and assure himself that she was safe. Character;; Brynjar Tagged;; Open Notes;; <3 Timeline;; 1 yr; late autumn, mid-afternoon.

x PUZZLE Restlessness had led for the youth to head away from his home in the Dark Kingdom and out to the Free Lands that afternoon. He had grown too rambunctious for The Whore House with his scurrying around and pestering everyone with questions. Finally, Puzzle had approached his father, Jigsaw, and asked for permission to go out into the Free Lands by himself for a while. He needed to run around and stretch his legs and be free for a while. At still under two years old, Puzzle didn't yet have an official job or training regime in The Whore House, so he was free to do as he pleased for the next few months until it was time to grow up and be an adult. He didn't know what his rank was going to be. He wasn't a big tough guy built for guard work, and he didn't think he would make a very good spy... which typically would leave the clean up crew for him, with Rob and Chain. He wouldn't mind hanging out with the older boys, so long as they would tolerate his antics. Besides, it wasn't like blood and gore scared Puzzle. He had grown up surrounded by it all of his life, from Black Sand Boardwalk to The Whore House - it was nothing new to him. But one would never guess the trauma he had seen with his bright blue eyes that still sparkled with joy and laughter. Puzzle still held an air of innocence and joyfulness, quite unlike most Dark equines. He was gallivanting off toward Kular Valley today. His silver buckskin sabino frame zipped through the valley in a quick blur, long legs carrying his lanky body around haphazardly. He felt consumed with energy that he had no real outlet for, other than running amuck and wrecking havoc, usually. He decided that the first equine he spotted he was going to interact with and that came quickly in the figure of another young equine, around his age, give or take a few week or months. Puzzle let out a high-pitched whinny to capture the other kid's attention before two-beating his way over. "Hiya!" the Dark aligned yearling chirped, seemingly entirely innocent and wholesome when really he could be quite deadly, if he decided to be. "Whatcha doin' here?" he questioned as he settled into step beside the other, matching his stride easily enough as they marched over the dried valley grass. With a destination in mind -- or at least a general idea of where he needed to get to in order to meet up with his mother -- Brynjar's steps were swift and purposeful. He did not completely ignore his surroundings, but neither did he take time to scan the area. He was aware that the present corner of Kular Valley he traversed was relatively unpopulated by other equines for the time being, though out of the corner of his eye, the speckled silver sable champagne dun was pretty sure he spotted another youngster out and about. It would seem that the other young fellow had spotted him as well if the high-pitched whinny to erupt from the stranger was anything to go by. Brynjar had not been looking for any social interaction, but clearly, this other young lad did want to spend some time socializing. Brynjar was not the type to be rude, despite spending so little time in his entire young life being around others. So, in spite of the fact that he had been intending to get back to his mother as quickly as possible, he slowed his steps as the other yearling colt drew alongside him. Albeit, at least he did not have to come to a complete stop, as the stranger easily kept pace beside him.
"Hiya!" the other lad chirped brightly. "Whatcha doin' here?"
Even as he continued forward, having reduced his speed to a walk, Brynjar turned solemn mismatched green and blue eyes on the stranger. There was something about the chipper yearling, quite a contrast to the spotted lad's own grave persona. He did not think that he had ever encountered anyone quite so... energetically bright? Inwardly shrugging, he offered a small smile as he offered in answer, 'Hi. I'm walking through Kular Valley. Or... well, I am walking now, at least. What about you?'
