JAWS
made by remi of rilla go! and adoxography
How long had he been wandering - no, running away? He could not run any longer. He had traveled several miles, hundreds of miles, further than he had ever journeyed before. Nothing about this place was familiar. He had crossed into entirely new terrain, a realm that was his to explore at his leisure. He'd found himself on some sort of beach, the air cool as the sun began to fall toward the horizon. The clouds were cast into orange and red hues, a light rain pattering down around him. It had been drizzling for the last few hours as he'd wandered before ending up on this beach. Despite the way it made his heart clench and his stomach turn, he could not help but think that Jade would have loved it here. She would have been fascinated by the rolling tide, would have wanted to collect sea glass to add to the jewels that she had been adorned with. And he would have given her the stars in the very sky to dress herself with, had he been able to. Swallowing dryly at the thought, Jaws closed his eyes a moment and drew in as deep a breath as he could manage.
He stood there for a moment, just out of reach of the waves, his light blue eyes closed behind the bone mask that adorned his face. Jaws let the gentle shushing of the ocean waves lull him back into a sense of peace and serenity, washing away thoughts of Jade and what she had done to him. How she had broken him so completely, so thoroughly, that it felt like he could never be whole again. Slowly, he blinked open his eyes and stared out at the ocean, pondering if this was the same ocean he had gazed upon before, in his homeland, or if there were several different oceans in the world. He wondered just how big the world was. Having always lived a nomadic lifestyle, his sense of "home" had always been his herd that he traveled with (and eventually, Jade herself became home to him - until she wasn't). The idea was not tied down to a specific place. He wondered if he would ever find those he could call home again. He wondered what would happen now that he was here, alone, so very far from where he'd lived all of his life.
Another deep breath was taken and in that moment, Jaws felt a weight lifting from his shoulders. He had been running for so long, trying to put as much distance between himself and the pain and the sorrow. Perhaps he had found a place he could settle in, at least for now, until it was time to move on again. Unless he found someone or something to keep him here forever - but he knew better by now than to think about forevers. Eternity was a long time, and he was still quite young. He had to be more careful with his heart and desires. He had to protect himself from going through that pain again. He wasn't sure he'd be able to handle another heartbreak.
