in truth, she was still reeling from her interaction with boudicca as she rejoined closer to the festivities, feeling both accomplished and a sense of embarrassment. it was foolish of her to wander without purpose in someone else's home, and she knew that too well growing up as a would-be queen. even still, she sighed with relief as she noted that many had already made their exit. adora could feel the way meraki's guards kept their peripherals on her, but it was deserved, so she said nothing and kept her eyes towards the royals. it was out of the corner of her eye that she saw a peculiar equine approach. he spoke matter of factly, and scurried way.

adora flicked her ears back, turning on a dime to focus on him; she hadn't seen him before, though she could say that for many of the audience. the mare huffed, and decided to follow in his direction. "that'll make quite the impression, i'd say," the sun kissed mare called to him when she drew close enough. as avoidant as he seemed, she felt no danger dripping off of him like she had from others from around here. it wasn't like her to seek company like this, but the peculiar bay had caught her interest for one reason or another, and she wanted to quell the morbid curiosity before it got the better of her. surely that wasn't unheard of here, right?

Decay

I'm forced to deal with what I feel
There is no distraction to mask what is real

He'd thought he'd not been noticed by anyone in the crowd as he approached the Royals, said his greeting, and then rushed away. However, as he was traversing away from the Royals, skirting around the crowd as best as he could, he became aware of someone coming in his general direction. It was a shorter mare, marked by gold and ivory. Not someone that he knew, so Decay was hoping that she was going to walk on by him. He became hyper-focused on her, in the way only those who had seen trauma could be, without truly looking in her direction. He tracked her through little sidelong glances, his ears laying flatter and flatter against his skull the closer she got to him. It did not take long for her to be in conversational distance, and Decay's ears were hidden within his wild cream hued mane. "that'll make quite the impression, i'd say,"

If possible, his ears would have flattened even further against his head as he halted abruptly and turned to face the smaller equine. The tall silver dapple hellion snorted, but there was a certain wariness to his brown eyes. Not fear, no, he was not afraid of her, but wary of what she wanted. Who was she, he wondered, and why was she following him? "Good," he snapped, sounding his typical grumpy self. Suspicion crept across his skin, anxiety making his eyes narrow as he stared down at the mare. "What do you want?" He did, at least, keep his voice down enough to not cause any heads to turn in their direction. He already have more than enough attention on him. He would hate to have more staring eyes in his direction.

want for nothing.

"good," the lumbering stallion remarked. adora blinked slow, head cocking as the curiosity grew within her chest over this strange creature. the mare snorted and shook out her mane, matching his quieted tone. "what do you want?" he asked. there was a grave indignance boiling, face scrunching as she considered his question. "what do you have to offer?" she retorted. it was a jest, no doubt, but even so she wondered how he might respond. rightfully unamused with her, but ... anxious? adora couldn't help recognizing the unease washed about him. she couldn't read exactly what it was, or why he might feel so strongly about her approach - she was less of a threat than most of the attending coronation goers, but she supposed that strangers were always something to be weary of. the mare rolled back into her shoulder, posture relaxing some. cerulean eyes fell from the stallion and toward the direction he went, asking in a moment of boldness; "where were you going just now?" it wasn't her business, she knew as much. the questions would surely annoy him, adora didn't want to overwhelm the situation, either. but she wanted to know, didn't she? unsure why, she was willing to find out if he'd so allow.

Decay

I'm forced to deal with what I feel
There is no distraction to mask what is real

Decay was not good at being social. He was not good at making friends. He had just gotten lucky that Dark Woods tolerated him enough to allow him to move his herd there, when drought and famine had made it unsafe to live in The Haunted Battlefield any longer. Reth had accepted him and his herd, and Vojorn allowed them to stay. Reth was actually the closest thing he had to a best friend, and they hardly even knew each other... but she seemed to understand him in a way that others did not. Thinking of her was going to make him much too flustered to deal with a random stranger approaching him, though, so he reluctantly shoved thoughts of the former Dark Woods leader way into the back of his mind (where, to be honest, most of his emotions aside from anger and suspicion were kept). Brown eyes stared down at the shorter palomino and white maiden, partially narrowed, ears flat against his head. Who was she and what did she want from him?

"what do you have to offer?" He huffed out a short breath, baring his teeth momentarily and answering in a low growl, "That depends who's asking." He gave no further explanation to his answer, just glaring at the younger equine with a look that had stop bothering me written all over it. It was nothing against the mare. Decay was just tense and stressed and wanting to get the hell away from the crowd as quickly as possible. "where were you going just now?" The question was very random. Why the hell did she want to know where he was going? "Why do you ask?" He countered her with a question of his own, arching a brow then, becoming all the more baffled (as well as annoyed) by this stranger.
