The newly produced demoness had been informed that as the war began to make its way towards its completion, prisoners of war would become exceedingly valuable. When Sly had heard such message, her insides had coiled deliciously. Stealing, the act of cleverly and forcefully removing one from their home, was something that she was best at. She had excelled at it during her time as Helkaer, and it had furthered her position within the brotherhood the more prisoners she had claimed. Oinaze had been known as a treacherous, horrific place of confinement, where Sly would toss her victims into the darkest of caves, and they would spend endless amounts of time without seeing a sliver of light. And she too had faced her fair share of being the mark, having been stolen herself on several occasions. Even just prior to her death, her soul had been snagged by none other than the Lady of Utopia. Sly's soul had been kept safeguarded within the Underworld for years, after she had willingly traded it for the use of her fire. But Lady Rasa had been able to deftly pick it from Lord Xerxes and Lady Mictecacihuatl's possession, claiming it for her own. She had yet to know of all the details that existed in association with Xerxes having secured it once more, aside from the fact he had made a trade for it. However, that trade had been crucial. For it was not long after her soul had been returned to its resting place that she had met her demise, and because of the location of her vitality, she had been able to immediately descend into the Underworld and become on of their hellions.
If she could make a steal as essential for the advantage of the Underworld, she was certain that would improve her standing amongst the demons. Sly had little intention of being an inhabitant of the Underworld who stood idly by. She was better than that, she was better than them. And she intended to prove it. She would advance through the ranks, she would get as far as she could. She would show them that her years as Helkaer Commander and what she had accomplished were not by chance. And now that she could not die, now that she didn't have her mortal life being lorded over her? Well, that would just make this all the easier.
She travelled beneath a moonless sky, embracing the dark rather than being hindered by it. She moved deftly upon the moist earth, that which had absorbed the moisture from the fading winter and had left a muddied ground in its wake. She kept her newly acquired wings tucked closely to her side, still adjusting to their presence, and not wishing to be hindered by them. With this position, she was able to move dextrously between the timber of the woods she found herself within. She had picked a herd at random, one that she knew absolutely nothing about. It was more fun that way, more challenging. She knew she was drawing closer to the herdland when the signs of inhabitants began to appear - paths carved in the earth that were well-worn, indicating frequent travel. The scent of other equines lingered here, exhibiting ownership. Other traces of nature taking its course, proven by substances left behind. Once she was certain she was nearing a population, she slowed her roving, until soon she was performing a mere walk. She began to pay much more careful attention to her surroundings, remaining composed but alert as she searched for any company that may be lingering in the trees. She moved noiselessly, but steadily for quite some time until she encountered any other signs of life. When the small band of what appeared to be a patrol appeared, Sly expertly ducked herself behind a gathering of bracken, plunging herself down low so she would be largely hidden unless the party wandered right up to the bush. But the were too focused on jesting with one another, shoving each other in an aggressive and jaunty manner as they continued down their path. She spied them through the thicket, assessing their bodies, making assumptions on their capability. While she gathered she could take them in a fight, that wasn't necessarily what she was here for. She was not one to back down to a challenge, however, feuding with these ignorant and oblivious soldiers could create a commotion she wished to avoid, that which could alert the rest of their herd. So, she waited until they had long disappeared before she exited her hiding place and stepped out onto the trail, and began heading in the direction in which they had come from. The scents of others was more potent in that orientation, so that was the way which she would go.
In due time, she came upon a clearing in the woods, discovering what she assumed to be the main herd. She spent some time in the shadows, investigating the composition of the group, her expert eyes searching for the perfect target. Soon enough, she found him. A lone stallion, laying in a mass upon the ground beneath a gathering of several trees on the outskirts of the empty space. He slept alone, others near by, but still far enough away to offer her the opportunity she sought. Silently, she sidled through the black and up to the beast. She moved carefully next to him, and without hesitation, came to placed a flint upon his throat - at the top of his neck, just below his jawline. He awoke with a startle, bod flinching, and stared up with panicked eyes. "Wh... what? Who are you? What are you doing?" He tried to get out, but with each word she pressed down further on his windpipe, making the words dull and hushed as he began to gasp for air. "Your demise." She stated evilly. "Make another noise, and you die."

III.
The flicka bolted then, spinning on her hocks, her tail held high as she weaved through the undergrowth. Everest was in no rush, his gait lazily trailing behind her until a sound from on high briefly caught his attention - the dull drum of feathered wings echoed within his lobes, a cynical brow arching as he cast his gaze toward what had once been his prison. As he did so, the angel landed. Not one he had ever seen before - not one of the henchmen that had ambushed him, not one of Rasa’s loyal dogs that had cowed at her meeting, not one of the few bores who had visited him whilst incarcerated. A fresh face. Everest grinned at the angel, watching as the enemy sized him up, the subtle shift of their larynx an indication of the discomfort they felt. You are not welcome here, demon, leave. The order was bit through clenched teeth, but the stammer in their voice was evident. Are you going to make me? Everest dared, resting a hind dagger on its tip, a casual middle finger to the prick.
The angel did not verbally respond, but instead swung his teeth in Everest's direction. Had he been solid, the hit would have landed and a brawl ensued. Luckily, or unluckily, depending on one's perspective, the attack passed straight through him. The angel did their best to hide their shock, their eyes widening momentarily, the lack of contact stunned as the force of their bite ricocheted through their being. Everest said nothing, a defiant and smug leer crossing his features as his nape pulled back slightly, allowing the angel to truly drink in the image of the beast he was trying to fell. A soul is all I want… he began softly, continuing on even as the opposition seemed to anger further. And the longer a soul is not given to me, the longer I will stay, Everest paused, searching for realisation to dawn upon the Utopian. But it did not. And the longer I am here, the stronger the curse is, and the stronger the curse is, the harder it is for you to lift and for these foul rats to recover… Everest explained, trailing off as the lightbulb moment finally occurred. What will it take for you to leave? The angel snarled at him, backing himself further and further into a corner with every moment that passed. A soul, Everest repeated, his tones bored until those oceanic lampistras flashed at the angel. Your soul would suffice, he hissed, his tones tempting, deceitful. You'd be a war hero, making the ultimate sacrifice for your allies… Everest drawled, his shoulders rolling in an offish shrug, painfully indifferent to the situation at hand.
The angel averted his gaze from Everest, searching the earth at his feet furiously until finally, he returned his vision to the fiend. Fine, but I will fight for it… Utopia will fight for it. There was an edge to the words of the angel, a promise or a threat, Everest couldn't care to work out. He simply nodded and winked at the Utopian, I look forward to it… and as the angel transferred what he had to give, true to his word, Everest dissipated into the ether, waiting for the wrath of Utopia once more. But this time, he'd be ready…

Souls, it all came down to that. The weight of them, what they were made of, what they wanted and how they existed amongst the others. Xerxes moved across the earth with ease, his usual leathery appendages were invisible, yet those ominous spiralling horns that protruded from his temples shone under the springtime sun. There was a point the devil now had to prove, a line to be drawn in the sands. Xerxes had played nicely, when Rasa had declared war, he wanted his enemies to choose their fate. He wanted them to know it was them in the driving seat, yet the machine they were driving was the Underworld. The inevitability of it all was an amusing facet to the entire situation - for in the end, unless they chose to ally with the Underworld, to give their souls over to the abyss and pledge allegiance to him… he would come for them. The hounds of hell would soon be snapping at his feet, the hordes of undead would plague their homes, they would savage their families and defile their lovers. Xerxes would not stop now - at any cost. Utopia were weakening by the second their attentions pulled every which way, and a distracted enemy made for an easy victory.
He was present in these lands to retrieve a soul - a soul that rightfully belonged to him, to the Underworld. He had played the games, he had followed the rulebook, but now he was the author and the rules were being bent. His towering mass crossed the borders of the Utopian allied lands, his daggers marring the earth below with a trail of half moons. Let the mortals follow him, let them call upon their immortal comrades to attempt intervention - he would not stop. With his nape held in a well defined arch, the marble behemoth strode deeper and deeper into the realm. He had met this child once, a child of his own blood, a child whose mother had sworn allegiance to Utopia, who had turned against him despite being so easy, so willing, to get beneath him. Running the expanse of his tongue over his swarthy lips, the bastard casting his hellish gaze over the lands. He inhaled deeply, deciphering each putrid perfume and stagnant cologne of the inhabitants until the youthful, untouched aroma of the babe violated his nares.
As his towering embodiment wound through the timbers like a giant serpent, he soon found who it was that he sought. No mother in sight, no ward, no guard, nothing to stop harm befalling the youngster. Her eyes blinked up at Xerxes, wary but curious, her youthful embodiment curled upon the sod below. Who-who are you? She asked him, her innocent eyes blinking at him. A long lost friend you are yet to make, he responded, his Scandinavian tones soft as he lowered himself to rest beside her. Unfortunately, I have to take something from you, he admitted gently. It won't hurt, and you won't need it with any luck for many, many years to come… the filly looked to him with doe eyes, searching his with clear confusion shining at him. I don't know you… she bit back, her body beginning to rise from the earth. You will come to, in time, Xerxes responded, watching her as she began to turn away from him. You can't have it - whatever it is! You can't! She squealed, bolting away from him. And the devil grinned, for he had already taken what it was that he had come for. As the foal bounded away, a soft blue orb glowed and buzzed before him, dancing until he seemed to absorb it. Whilst it wasn't necessarily the done thing, taking the soul of a child, they were at war afterall, and everything was fair in love and war…

Now that he was freed from the Underworld and had some familiarity with the demons, Cadence was able to seek one out in the wilds. One such individual was particularly hostile towards him. A dark bay with a black stripe on their face where a blaze would have been. He's memorized that scent almost as well as he had the scent of Xerxes. It had been muddled by the stench of sulfur and brimstone, but it was still distinct enough for the Lord to track.
Cadence followed the demon to Kunipar Cliffs, and he'd gone in disguise. While he couldn't rid himself of the smell of Utopia, he could at least appear as a normal angel instead of the Lord. This would be especially helpful while following a demon. Ot was easier still that as they traveled the Freelands he was merely one of the other angels out here. His coat was a sleek black. It bore no distinct features, and his wings looked no different than those of a common raven.
The demon had begun to descend the cliffs after meeting with a small gathering of what he presumed were his allies. Cadence didn't make an obvious move to follow the brute as he departed. Instead, he lingered to give the impression that he was about to go start something with that crew of mean looking individuals. They were huddled and surely planning their next attack. He waited longer still before he took to the skies.
Cadence hid himself in the low, dark gray hanging clouds overhead. He'd caught glimpses of the demon he was following through small partings of the cloud. It seemed that they were heading toward The Howling Keep. Onward they went, without a single faltering footstep. The Lord wondered if they knew he was following them. There was a moment he considered that this could be a trap, but as they each crossed that threshold into the Dark Royal lands, he could see that wasn't the case.
Instead, the demon was met by one of the many guards roving about. The demon turned over a small big of bark with something nestled within. The guard hurried away with this strange and unknown item, and left the unsuspecting demon all alone. Cadence took this opportunity and descended abruptly, landing just a few feet away from the demon..
"I think you'll find that you're not going anywhere..." Cadence murmured ominously tonthe startled and enraged demon.

TW: violence, blood, language
Nemesis stalked through the higlands, hindered only by her swollen belly. She was determined not to let anyone think she was weakened by ger pregnancy. Her reputation as a dangerous and volatile individual needed to be upheld. Even more so now that she sat in the seat of Commander of the Helkaer. The Versai were the mortal dogs of Utopia, that made them an easy target.
She'd already made their lives more difficult with the tax she'd imposed upon the Palomino with red eyes who had gone looking for Sly. Nemesis had been paid that tax, but she still wanted more. The dark bay traveled under the cloak of night. It was more difficult to navigate the unfamiliar terrain, but she persisted.
Nemesis wasn't going to leave without taking yet another body from both Utopia and the Versai. If it were up to her, she'd have the entirety of their little group rotting away in her dungeons. The bay commander stopped her movements as best as she could with her awkward size and aching joints.
She could hear dull, gentle laughter nearby. She managed to hold her breath long enough to hear the tail end of the words being exchanged. The stranger was bidding their herdmate ir someone else goodnight. A predatory grin slithered across her features in the darkness. They were about to cross her path where she'd hidden herself in the shadows.
Once they were close enough, she jolted forward with startling speed and snagged the poor bastard by their throat. Blood trickled onto her tongue and down her throat. They struggled against her, but she'd managed to grab the delicate area around their throat where if she bit harder, she'd crush their windpipe.
Nemesis didn't need to do much after she'd broken the skin. Her victim rasped out a singular question to her. Why? She watched as his eyes glazed over as her disease rapidly took hold. With a Versai nephilim at her disposal, she wasn't terribly worried about getting anyone else involved. Nemesis didn't care if he died.
In his delirious state, she managed to lead him out of the higlands with the promise that he'd be healed. It wasn't a real lie. He would be healed, but she'd told him they were escaping Toxin Raj instead of going into it. Nemesis wondered if he'd ever put two and two together now that she was luring him back to her figurative web.

The night hag moved deftly through the undergrowth, her knives placed ever so carefully upon the earth beneath her. Thomasin had not ventured here before, to these God forsaken lands. The name of them was enough to give away what horrors had once resided here, and what horrors may still do - Desolate Earth. Desolation, bleak, empty. These were not lands once could raise a family, a good family, nor had they done. Dawn was breaking, the sun offering a thin line of gild that began to douse the abyssal darkness of the night in a pale hue of pastel gold. It started weakly at first, the darkness laying claim to the heavens more so than the dawn, those vibrant stars still sparkling away in the nothingness above. The moon was a thin sliver within the mass of stars, darkness too shrouding the satellite above. It offered her protection, a shroud, a cloak that allowed her to pass almost seamlessly through the borders of the Light Kingdom. It was a dangerous game, no doubt, but one of which she had already prepared herself to win. She had pulled coal from the hearth of her home, smearing it over the snow white patches on her quarters, drenching her in darkness that did not truly belong to her.
Marduk had helped - his own efforts noticeable as those crispest areas of her haunches and lower limbs were now inky, as dark as the heavens above. She was not here in these lands to necessarily aid the war efforts, no, this was personal. She had drawn her line in the sands, and now she had crossed them. If the light regents knew of her presence, no doubt they would all end up fighting a double faceted war. But Thomasin had no intention of being discovered, she had no reason to be, provided she did not sweat and that it did not rain. The clarity of the skies above gave her hope that she would remain disguised, a purely ebon hued witch traversing the lands of the unknown, a nomad, a nobody. Translucent tendrils of a low hanging mist grappled at her fetlocks, trying ever so hard to drag her to the Underworld below. All in good time. Thomasin moved deftly over the earth, her knives marking her path, her aroma masked by the scent of coal and dirt. Despite Oath switching to her alliance, despite him wanting to be a member of her harem, this steal was being done to pull out the infection from his family… if their father was not enough to pull them out, perhaps their dear sweet sister would do the trick…
Thomasin found herself situated then in a clearing, surrounded by large oaks who's branches bent under the weight of the moss and vines that clung to them. Clung to them like parasites. Clung to them like the putrid bloodline clung to these lands. A low, gentle rumble reverberated from within her chest, a soft coo, an innocence to the sound that left her vox. Would it be enough to pull out the one she sought, and if it was, would her wiles be enough to lure the lass away, far enough away that when Thomasin revealed herself, her true self, the maiden would be far from home… far from anyone who would be willing and able to stand between the dark queen and her revenge…

Despite the circumstances of the world at the moment, Kladdan wasn't one for making steals. Before coming to Wild Equines, he found deep pleasure in taking others from their home. There was something satisfying about outsmarting another lead and using another being as leverage. Now that he had settled into a new land, world, and role, that drive hadn't reappeared. He was offended and angry when Adora had taken Riddler from Grim Isle, though he still couldn't understand why. The ruby stallion felt a thread of revenge weaving its way through his veins as he left his home when the tide and sun were both low. While he had had a mild, interesting conversation with the Light Queen, he ignored that almost feeling of betrayal as he picked his way towards Sunset Shores. He and Nixi were by no means "allies" and Kladdan hadn't been told of any alliance between the Darks and Lights, so he didn't think there would be too much political backlash towards his actions. Perhaps it would remain between Adora and Grim Isle. He would assume that until he heard otherwise.
The beast paused at the borders of the surprisingly unwelcoming landscape, violet eyes scanning the thick grove of trees for any signs of life. Seeing nothing, he took a deep breath, dropped his head, and began to breathe heavily. Weaving through the trees, he forced a limp and let out several quick, quiet calls as he walked. He moved nosily, hoping to draw the attention of a patrol or - ideally - a lone equine nearby. Kladdan wasn't sure how long his charade would last and was debating switching plans when he saw a tall, painted mare come down a path towards him. She looked nervous and unsure of what to do when she was close enough to take him in. Kladdan wheezed loudly and moved faster towards her. Please, he pleaded in a panicked voice. Please help me. The Underworld - a demon. It took my daughter. He coughed deeply, watching the mare's face shift between suspicion, surprise, and anger. I need help.
The mare looked behind her, nerves were written across her face before they disappeared and determination painted her features. Let's go. Do you know where it might have taken her? The bay looked behind him, false fear taking over his facade. I'm not sure, but we were near the Crystal Pools. He said something about the Dark Kingdom, maybe we can start there? The fem's ears shifted back slightly, but she pressed forward, looking back to make sure the stallion was following. We will find her. We can search along the edges of the Dark Kingdom and see if you can find her scent.
The two set off at a quick pace, which made it hard for Kladdan to keep up his fake limp. As they traveled back towards his home, he sized her up. She was taller but built much lighter than the bay. She may be able to outrun him, but it was likely that the beast could best her in a fight. Time will tell. They skirted past The Whore House - a good call - and Kladdan slowly began to take the lead. He kept his head low, sniffing deep and moving quickly. As the pair crested a hill, the island came into view. The land bridge had started to slowly disappear but the sand bar was still able to be traveled across. The red beast paused, looking to the mare with a pleading expression. I think she was here. The vixen seemed more nervous now that they were far from the Light lands, but she forced a faint smile. That's... good. I doubt that anyone there would let us search. How do you think we get over there?
I can escort you. A dappled buckskin moved from the shadows, silver eyes narrowed in barely repressed anger. We love guests. Riddler turned to Kladdan and dipped his head low, a wry smile crossing his lips. Welcome home. The scarred beast stepped away from the mare, head high and violet eyes locking onto her green ones. Don't worry. You'll be well taken care of until Adora decides to collect you. It's nothing personal. The paint looked panicked, gaze shifting between the two stallions in confusion. Riddler wasted no time shoving her forward, eyes flicking back to the lead in a silent thanks. They'll wait for Adora together, and my will that be a fun day.

"Speech."
The night was long and dark. The thick fog that clung to the earth masking the bastard king enchanting his form as if he was nothing more than an apparition. The war was nearing its boiling point now. He and his beloved had witnessed two foes of the afterlife locked in battle already, the king himself returning to the area of the mutilation to lay eyes on the scars left in the land. It was a bit shocking to say the least to see such unnatural violence, but it also tickled at his loins and electrified his skin. It gave him a new rush, a feeling that he needed to do more. Prisoners were now a thing that would help sway the gods. They needed souls. Whether or not this was to feast on or hoard was of no concern to the ink and ivory colored beast, but he would do his part in supplying bodies for the cause. The bastard king neared the edge of the light land now, his loyal companion at his side. They both stopped at the water that flowed from the land. Selven motioned for his pet before they both plunged into the water. Not only washing away the heavy scent of their home, but whisking away any lingering scent of sweat that would give them away quicker than the sight of them would. The pair stepped from the water and quickly went down into the mud and dirt next. Selven made sure to cover himself as thoroughly as he could, letting the mud and dirt stick to his wet hide. Shenzie did the same, the canid smiling wildly as mud dripped from her fur. Selven gave a crooked smirk before they began their trek again. Their steps muffled by the thick bed of leaves and foliage. Selven would find his target quickly, and efficiently.
Coming like none other than a thief in the night.

Haunting, pallid orbs blinked as he stood outside the pearly, heavenly gates. Eye lids narrowed into slits as his gaze rose up to take in home of the biased queen of the heavens herself. Zeitgeist had never actually met the coppery bronze wench, but he already knew he would be committed to misunderstanding her. She boasted of her goodness and the morality of the heavens, benevolence and honor, and yet… not so honorable as to allow not one, but two kings and a son to rot in Hell’s depths. Zeitgeist could not understand the reasoning behind not retrieving her precious king who succumbed to the mists.. if it were he, his queen would not rot so long that her life force dwindled to nothing. However, he did not have a queen. He was the right hand to the lord of Hell, and he had other things to meddle in, aside from the capture of kings and queens. The porcelain hellion twisted his dome left and right into a violent shake. Perhaps to warm up or to just wriggle off the self-doubt demons that clawed at his back as he prepared to walk himself into heaven. But for what? Bodies. It was a war after all and anyone that he could capture to make the heavens more susceptible to the Underworld’s attacks was a win in his book. But.. Was he so bold and lacking in abstract moral reasoning that he believed that he could walk into heaven and merely take someone? Partially, yes, but he did have an idea of who he was targeting at least. Or what, perhaps, was better to say. Zeitgeist’s gaze shifted left and right as he slipped passed the barriers of Eden and entered through the pillared gates of heaven. Immediately, he could feel his skin crawl with icy cold sting with pin points running over his hide in different directions. It were as if something was under his hide, crawling around between the layer of muscle and hide that draped him in icicle white, crimson, and the darkest points. The sensation was uncomfortable to say the least, but just then a conversation between he and Leviathan popped into his mind. Specifically, about how long angels and daevas could survive in Hell. He thought to himself of the warning that demons could not exist in heaven for very long and vice versa with angels in hell. This random thought sparked a fire to expeditiously find his victim and head on down to the fiery warmth of the underworld, before whatever debilitating magic Heaven had would suck him dry of his own life force. With that, the beast lowered his dome and began to creep his way through the perimeter of Heaven. It was not really a matter of who or whatever rank they held, it was a matter of having the balls to come here and take one right out from under the nose of the high and mighty angels. That thought alone gave him motivation to continue on and only pumped air into his arrogant ego. A smirk formed on his maw as he thought of all the ways the fellow angels could react upon finding his scent and one of their own gone. He had sincerely hoped it would be a moment of extreme frustration. Perhaps he could do no real harm, yet, but he could remain a ever annoying festering splinter in their side. Imagining himself to be such a nuisance resulted in a spring in his step and giddy feelings in his inky black soul. He moved slow, like a phantom in the night, as he stalked onward. Perhaps he had lost track of time day dreaming about all the ways he would be praised by his own and cursed by his enemies, but it did not seem to have taken long before the sound of another entered into the airspace around him. It was subtle, like the sound of grass brushing against a body and then a heavy sigh could be heard. Zeitgeist blinked and turned his dome as he attempted to pinpoint the exact location. Silence was all that was afforded to him as he stood stone still. But then, there was a sound of ruffling feathers and not wanting to lose this individual, Zeitgeist moved in the direction of the ruffling feathers. He moved as quietly as possible as he traversed underbrush that concealed him. As he approached a sunlight glade, he felt disappointed to not see anyone. His lower mandible clenched into his top one, causing muscles to jump with frustration in his jaw. How are was it to find an angel for gods sake? His auds tilted back slightly as his patience began to run thin. He thought for a moment about his options: he could turn and go another direction or he could track this individual. Impulsively, he chose the latter. Thus, he stepped out into the heavenly, sunlight glade and began to inhale the scent of whomever was here before. He could smell the overwhelming, sickly-sweet scent of his heavenly enemy. It was potent still, having not yet dissipated, meaning Zeitgeist was not far behind. His dome lowered and his unnatural eyes looked to the ground to search for clues. Indents in the earth told him the creature was heavy, and the tracks led to the south. Zeit felt hopeful and excited as he turned to follow the trail of his divine prey down a shaded forest path. He moved quickly and as he rounded the first bend he came to another sunlight glade, but this time the form of a hulking beast appeared. Zeitgeist halted abruptly, raising his dome high and his mighty black antlers even higher. A charming, but devious, grin found it’s way on his face as he prepared to make himself known. However, that would not be needed evidently. The hulking gray beast turned, massive wings contracted to its body as it turned. Vanilla locks tumbled through the hair magnificently and in a naturally awe-inspiring way. As the beast laid eyes on Zeitgeist, however, their eyes narrowed and a look of disgust formed on it’s face. ”Consider this your unlucky day.” Zeitgeist’s Irish brogue echoed in the mind of the other while the ivory hellion tilted his dome to one side before lowering his dome defensively. Likewise, the other beast did not seem to be phased but took on a form of defense. It could have been a stalemate, but Zeitgeist did not have all day. He suddenly launched forward towards the other beast to begin the might task of dragging his soul to Hell. words;; 1106 timeline;; Amaranthine War, Act III group thread, Post 2 character;; Zeitgeist tag;; Fallen for mention of The Fallen notes;; This was written with permission of Fallen <3 talk

the hive never spared anyone A wraith moved through the edges of the Neutral lands, striving to avoid detection. Before she had left her dusty home, the dappled mare had taken the time to carefully cover herself in mud. Her silver and white tresses were knotted, her pelt itchy from the dust that settled over the muck. Upon seeing her reflection in a slow moving creek, the phantom was pleased that she was nearly unrecognizable. There was nothing she could do about her bright magenta painted eyes, but the rest would do. This morning's event was all about being stealthy. While the Helkaer would love to go after Adora, there were much bigger fish to fry at the moment. Let the palomino mare wonder when Harlan would come for her. Today wasn't the day - how fortunate for the Light lead.
No, today the General's sights were set on a new target - Meraki Woods. Many moons ago, the wraith had taken it upon herself to attend the new queen's coronation - Boudicca. While the ceremony was... well, full of a lot of inspiring words that would mean nothing without action, the Helkaer wanted to stop by. See how the queen was doing, how she would react. Their previous interaction had been amicable, but Harlan wanted to know just how down and dirty the queen could get. Perhaps even the king. She hadn't heard much about Avinash other than he seemed to have misplaced his last queen. Would they have adjusted their border patrols? Or would they let refugees in without hesitation? That lack of hesitation was what the General wanted to inspect.
Harlan remembered the path that had been adorned with decorations that led through the woods, though the Neutrals ensured that the coronation hadn't taken place too close to the true main location. She was sure that someone would find her soon enough, though time would tell. The sun had barely began to rise when she paused near the three streams that she recognized from her previous visit. She had no idea where any of them led, but she settled into the shadows to wait. Surely there would be someone looking for a nice, cool morning drink or perhaps even a bath. Harlan didn't have to wait long before a young, leggy colt appeared from the brush, bleary eyed and innocent. He had to have been barely over a year old, but he was already almost as tall as she was. As he bent to drink, Harlan shifted closer in the brush, quietly circling until she was behind him.
The yearling's head shot up, ears swiveling back in alarm. His head was raised high, slowly turning as he eyed the trees around him. Poor little lamb. The mare remained where she was, magenta eyes locked onto his slim frame as he looked ready to bolt. Who's there? The wraith let out a soft nicker, still remaining tucked away. The colt, though nervous, moved closer in curiosity. Do you need help? A grin momentarily flashed along Harlan's mud caked lips before she finally emerged. She had blocked the thin deer path he had come from, and the yearling seemed to have come to the same conclusion. No, I don't need any help. You won't either if you come quietly. For a moment, the colt looked like he was actually going to try and take off. Instead, he looked at the empty landscape around them with a soft whimper. What do you want? The wraith's lips curved. For you to come with me, youngling. I won't hurt you. Though he looked ready to protest, the yearling's fear won and his head dropped low. Harlan did not move as he approached her, and she shoved him in front of her. Would he cooperate for the walk back to Sinheim? If he didn't, the Helkaer hadn't eaten in days and she was starving.

To steal a horse was something Nixi had only ever done once, and never dreamed of doing it again. She had stolen Eos, the previous Versai leader to let them know they were banished but also to criticize her for her wrongdoings. Now today, Nixi was involved in a war and actively seeking out someone to steal. She was tired of sitting around and letting things happen to her and her family. Her patience had run so thin it no longer existed. While the Versai were relatively quiet these days and there wasn't any information she couldn't gather through Valfrid, one particular thought of the Dark Royals came to her mind. They had wronged her so horribly, their anger misplaced at the Light Royals for many different reasons. Hunroor had tried to approach them and speak on better terms, but the threat was made - any Light to cross into their Royal Land would become their property. If Nixi however were to lurk at the border and potentially steal a guard or an innocent bystander, perhaps she could gain some information or insight towards the Dark Royals.
And so she left the comfort of Rain Forest Beach early in the morning, traveling the majority of the day through freelands to just outside what she believed was now called the Howling Keep. Lachlan Breck used to be its name, though the land had changed what felt like many times since then. Each Dark Royal seemed to shift where they called home, which Nixi understood. Wanting to make it feel like your own and not belonging to the previous royals. It wasn't long that she stood at the border when hoofclicks reached her audits - a body approached. The buckskin splash Queen blended within a treeline, her ivory pelt stained from rolling in clay that morning. She watched the ebonite body approach her and essentially walk nearly right past her. Perfect, she thought. Before they got too far ahead, she stepped out only for a voice to fill her auditory. Nice try, Queen. We can smell you from a mile away. Her heart sunk as though she was captured. Nevertheless, she stood proud and ready to snake this individual back home regardless if it resulted in a fight. The ebonite brute before her turned around to face her, and when Nixi saw the devilish smirk cross their maw, a bad feeling entered her stomach. She replayed their words in her head, and that's when the rustling sound became apparent. WE can smell you from a mile away. Suddenly, the Light Queen was surrounded by bodies. What was she thinking anyways, coming to the Dark Royals alone? Of course they were fucking prepared for such a situation. The group slowly attempted to close in on her, but like hell she would be captured by the Dark Royals today. As soon as what appeared to be the leader came close enough to her, Nixi reared up and striked them forcefully in the face, uncaring for the potentially severe wound they would receive. She shoved her short, sturdy bodice through two of them and took off back into the freelands....

The Fallen The Fallen had returned to heaven. His massive form finding relief in the ever pristine surroundings of the cool scenic place. War was intensifying now, angels and demons alike scrambling to take and steal and hoard and maim. Now, the commodity was souls and prisoners. The Fallen exhaled heavily as he tucked his mighty wings against his hide. Ivory tendrils floated about his form easily, the long wispy strands falling to tickle the earth as he walked with his head lowered. The Fallen could not deny that he was growing weary of this. The war no longer seeming like a fight against evil but a personal vendetta against the dark lord. The Fallen grumbled to himself, pushing the thought from his mind. He would continue on and do the job required of him, he just had to pick a target. However, as the behemoth pondered, he was snapped from his thoughts by the uncomfortable feeling of a stranger following him in the trees. Giant form snapped and spun around, his melancholy orbs harsh as was the line on his lips. A demon? here? How dare they. The scowl that curled at his heavy kissers was met with an Irish tongue rattling about in his mind. The Fallen's giant wings flicked menacingly before curling tight to his body once again. This demon had him in a tight space due to his size, unable to launch himself in the sky for advantage, The Fallen's stance became squared. The threat of violence imminent as the horned beast before him charged. The Fallen met him head on. He would not be dragged to hell today, not without taking a chunk of the demon with him. Prompt 3
The side that your character supports has been betrayed. One who had previously committed themselves to either Utopia or the Underworld has conned them. This could be in terms of providing tactical secrets, helping a prisoner escape, or whatever else you’d like to write about. Write about your character reacting to this - maybe they hear the news of the traitor, and they wish to do something about it. Maybe they catch the traitor in the act. If you need to make multiple posts, consider having your character hear about the deception, perhaps finding the individual who performed the hoax, and then write about the consequences..You have until May 10th, 2024 at 16:30:00 GMT-6 to complete your post.

TW: spicy language, gore, violence
Boom, boom, boom… the sounds of war rolled out through her mind, the thuds of the drums of chaos shuddered in her chest. Glittering embers danced across her line of sight, the clouds overhead black yet with a claret glow, a glow from fire, a reflection of the depravity that unfurled beneath the heavens. Boom, boom, boom, again the drums of war were pounded, louder this time, as the jet and bone hued hag crossed the battlefield. With Marduk perched upon her withers, the blood smeared maiden stepped over the lifeless forms of her eviscerated enemies, the once lush grasses of the lands sodden with rain and blood. There was only her there, no other beasts crossed her path. And the silence - apart from the booming percussion through the heavens, the silence was deafening. A soft breeze rolled over her, an eerie chime of bone on bone sounded out somewhere, but she was for the most part alone. A scream sounded out, bloodcurdling, maniacal, the sound of agonising insanity inflicted by another. The witch queen halted her movements across the battleground, her golden optics scouring the murk for any sign of life but none emerged. Where she was going, she did not know, but still she pressed on, moving through the hordes of lifeless corpses that littered the earth. Queen Thomasin! The calling was a deafening hiss, a hot summons that would be enough to wake the dead.
And wake she did, violently, her mass hoisting from the earth as pulled by unseen strings to glower at the two guards who stood now so sheepishly in her quarters. What?! Thomasin demanded, groggy from the deep sleep she had been in not moments ago. Blinking her lids heavily, she cast her burning attention onto the two before her, a glance shared between them before the larger brute spoke. We have… a problem, he admitted, another fleeting look shared between them before he continued on. We observed a guard on his patrol to detour into the woodland, we followed behind out of curiosity… he trailed off but the ire in the optics of their regent was enough to spur them on. They met with an angel, they… they told them we have Nephilim here, they mentioned Isolde and Selene… Thomasin levelled her scrutiny upon the two, a thoughtful hum rolling from within her bosom. And where is the traitor now? She queried, half expecting the guards to inform her that he was still on patrol, still feeding the Utopians secrets. To her surprise though, she was wrong. In the cells, your majesty, the other guard interjected. Several of us apprehended him, you are the first to know. Thomasin bobbed her atlas carefully, a single lobe flicking upon her crown as Marduk landed upon her withers from his perch upon the beams overhead. Shall we fetch Selven? They queried, readying to fetch the king. No, she spoke softly, a humour to her words, Let him rest. Take me to our prisoner, the direction was given and the two dipped their atlas to their queen, one moving forward to allow the night hag to position herself between the two guards.
Their venture to the cells was brief, a short stint through the corridors of The Keep, briefly into the night, the stars sparkled above them as they departed the castle, stars sparkling dutifully, a solemn flash of her dream returned but she shook it away. The prison was situated to the left of the citadel, a dark passage down into the abyss of the relic whereby cells branched off from the ravenous hallway. Last one on the left, the larger stag motioned, halting his companion from following the Queen. In hushed tones he uttered If she needs us, she will call, for now, we wait… and wait they did, the curvy embodiment of the witch queen slithered by them, her quarters brushing their brawny masses due to the narrowing tunnel to the cell she required. As she opened the door, the treacherous guard in question spun violently, his eyes and mouth three perfect circles of horror as he realised exactly who was standing before him. Pressing her mug to the door, it closed behind her, her attention landing gently upon the prisoner. Were you expecting someone else? She asked softly, resting a hind dagger on its tip as Marduk moved from her withers, taking purchase now upon the small window ledge. No, your majesty, I - he was cut short. Good, Thomasin interjected, a dangerous smile curling her lips. I'd hate for you to feel disappointed, it's such a cunt of a feeling… the queen hissed, her obsidian tendrils flicking viciously at her fetlocks as she took a step closer.
There was nowhere for the traitor to go, yet as he pressed his rump into the wall, the pointed end of Marduk's beak was forced into the pliant flesh of his rear. The beast shot forwards, but not enough to crash into the queen. Thomasin smirked, a shiver of amusement leaving her then. Chances from myself are few and far between, you should know that having been in my service for as long as you have, the words were purred but the fear in his eyes did not soften to those seductive tones. But I offer you one now, so what did you tell it? Angel, Utopian, goddess, it was all too pretty for what they truly were. I, I, I… I told them of Isolde and Selene, this time. I told them they lived here, willingly, but they are children of Utopia, they do not belong here, with you. A brow quirked in his direction, a long inhalation was taken, soothing the ravenous ire that now coursed through her bloodline. I have told them of Ragnar's plan... I told them everything. there was a defiance now in his words, a smugness. Afterall, she had not known until it was too late to do anything - but this one, this one had always known. And what was in it for you? She hissed, another step taken towards him. What had Utopia offered him that was enough to sever his fealty? An eternity of bliss, a place where you and yours can't touch me, safety… he spat his words at her now and the night hag simply smiled. All of that just for some information? Only a fool would pass that offer up… she mused, her tones sympathetic, yet her eyes were not.
The hag slithered towards him, sliding along his embodiment softly, a gentle purr resounding from within her. But only a fool would agree to something that only benefits them in death, do you think I am going to kill you? She hissed into his lobes, her velvet lips brushing the cartilage towers before the flat of her salmon pink tongue escaped her pearly whites and slithered over his cheek. He winced, recoiling from her touch, I think you might, yes… you'd look weak, Thomasin, if you do not… there was a quake in his voice then, as he realised he was face to face now with his maker, that soon his treason would be worth it. I am so sorry, she mewled, pressing her dome into the crook of his jaw. A tear rolled down his cheek, readying for that last bit of hurt before the eternal bliss was recieved. Instead, Thomasin swung her crown into his windpipe, his mouth opening wide as the ability to breathe was taken from him, a haunted gasp expelled from his being. In that one moment, Marduk was airborne, his beak and talons tearing at the tongue of the traitor. Agonised wails escaped him, blood that gargled down his oesophagus made it even harder to garner oxygen, but still the onslaught persisted. As Marduk pulled at the fleshy nub where the tongue had once been, Thomasin tore at his ears, viciously savaging them into bloodied saplings upon his atlas. Hear no evil, she murmured, chewing on the fleshy towers before swallowing, Speak no evil, Marduk moved from the traitor, the fleshy mouth muscle left upon the floor, adorned in rubies. Gargled words left the prisoner, his cries muffled by the coagulate in his throat. His knives slipped upon the sodden flag floor, his grip impeded by the blood that had spilled.
His vision locked onto hers, a dark smile carved onto her features as she leaned in closer to his hark-less crown. See no evil, she whispered and winked at him, briefly turning away as Marduk attacked then, his claws ripping at the sockets of her prisoner. When Marduk was done, Thomasin turned, observing the sorry beast from behind the veil of her inky tresses. Blood dripped from his eye sockets, from his pursed lips and from his thorn-less head. Lowering her mug to the bloodied hole where his ear had once been, she whispered I will never allow them to fulfill their promise to you. I do not suffer treasonous fools, but they will suffer me. And now you shall suffer too… the words were a curse, a vicious promise to him that he would never rest. A sob escaped the prisoner then, followed by another as Thomasin turned on her heel to leave. As she moved by the guards who had brought this matter to her attention she halted, their eyes widening as they noticed the blood shining on her hide and lips. Tether him at the gates of The Keep, let that be a warning to the remaining guards, do as you wish with him, but do not kill him… Lets see how loyal Utopia is to him… Would they come and save their spy? Would Rasa save this one, or was it only children of the light she saved? Thomasin moved into darkness of the night once more, the cold air kissing her body, highlighting where the blood of her enemy had landed upon her. Let more of it rain down upon her, her vengeance would know no bounds.

Darkness had long fallen, dousing the springtime dawn in the starry abyss once more. The hour was late, closer to the witching hour than many would be comfortable with. Yet whilst the majority of the Toxin Raj herd slept, Avversaria simply pretended to be. The murder of Sly as well as the ongoing war had forced Avversaria to slumber closer to the inhabitants of Toxin Raj, it was better to be safe than sorry, after all. But over the time she had chosen these sleeping arrangements, she had noticed one of her compadres slip off in the dead of night, several times. They had been careful with their movements so as to not rouse the herd, they had chosen the time of night when the majority of the harem were deep in sleep. Avversaria had noticed these strange patterns for a while, but without concrete evidence to silence the nagging suspicions in her mind, she had to continue to observe. Until tonight, the lone member pulled themselves from the earth, carefully, silently. They looked about the sleeping bodies before deftly picking their way through the menagerie of resting equines. Avversaria flicked a single eye open, the movement hidden by the veil of her obsidian tresses; watching diligently as the herd member moved on into the darkness of the woods.
Several moments passed, her attention honed in on that slither of shadow that the beast had moved through. She must act quickly. The iron maiden stood slowly, her own movements now meticulously chosen as she did her best to not wake the rest of the herd. No, she had to take this to the top. What a brazen move, to intrude upon the chambers of Nemesis as she slept so soundly… would this come back to haunt her? For a moment, as she observed the sleeping Commander, there was a fleeting thought, a brief flash of impulsiveness. Kill her, kill the child. Take over the helkaer. A dark smile curled her swarthy lips, shoving the thought away. No, she had much bigger fish to fry. Gently, she brushed the velvet veneer of her mug across the shoulder of the bay valkyrie, stepping back to avoid injury should the pregnant witch be feeling her usual vicious self. Shhhh, Avversaria hushed her before she had a chance to challenge her. Come, she whispered, her golden eyes darting to the exit of Nemesis’ chambers, There is something you need to see… was it still a hunch? Absolutely. But if it proved to be a dead end, it could not be argued that Avversaria wasn't vigilant.
Avversaria moved out, crossing the short distance between where Nemesis rested and the Dark, ominous woodland where their supposed ally had ventured into. Their scent was still strong, brushed across the foliage like a trail, Avversaria inhaled deeply, her pupils dilating. This way, she whispered, hoping the Commander would do her best to maintain some anonymity as they moved through the darkness. The scent remained strong, easy to track, Avversaria kept her lobes forwards straining through the silence until eventually, muffled words were heard to be exchanged. Licking her swarthy lips, she lipped at the leaves, pulling them back carefully to reveal what she had thought to be true - deception. There stood one of Toxin Raj's own, clearly in communication with a Utopian, the angel listened dutifully whilst the mortal spilled secrets like the helkaer spilled blood. Slowly, Avversaria shifted the branch to where it had been positioned before, her gilded optics turning to Nemesis. Do you want to handle this one? The answer she felt was known, yet given the current state of the Commander, so heavily burdened, would it be wiser for herself to take this attack? Whatever the mahogany hag wanted, Avversaria would oblige.➳ T e c h n o ➳ mentions of Nemesis ❤️ Words

I.
It was good to be home, so very good. Here he did not feel like the very air itself was trying to destroy him, he did not feel like his skin was being flayed from his musculature, that invisible whips did not crack upon his quarters or that ghostly hands did not grip his oesophagus. No, here was where he belonged. His body had, for the most part, healed from his trials and tribulations in the Utopian realm, he was as near to perfection as he could be once again. The sheen on his polished onyx hide sparkled, even under the meagre light provided in the Underworld. The areas of his physique that were dashed with white shone like the diamond twinkle of a fresh snowfall. Everest had spent enough time meticulously preening himself, pulling scabs from his hide when they were ready to depart, untangling the lengths of his silken tresses, sharpening his wit and hunger alike. Xerxes may be the Lord of the Underworld, but the Black Prince was ravenous for that crown, for that throne. Too long his father had sat upon the iron seat - and whilst he was a dedicated agent to chaos, he was too reserved, too merciful to truly embrace the role he had acquired. At least, that was the opinion of his fiendish son.
There was some perks to not being the King of the Damned, he was not confined to politics, the only expectations upon him were put there by himself. He would succeed and then exceed. He would go the extra mile across the less travelled paths if it meant proving a point. Did Xerxes know his son's intentions? Did he know the extent of the monster he had created? Everest stood upon the charred cliffs of the Underworld, his cerulean optics to glowing tanzanites in the murk. Ravenously, he scoured the realms below, his lobes flat upon his poll as he turned from his viewpoint, his mass unfurling like a serpent as he moved then in the direction of Eden. A movement though the miasma caught his attention then, his tracks halting as he allowed his gaze to linger on the entity. They moved stealthily, as if not wishing to be detected, the mists that ensnared them rose and fell like waves and they were the galleon. He could have let it go, he could have continued on to the cells as he planned to - afterall, it had been some time since he had lay with anyone that even a frail prisoner of war was beginning to feel tempting. No, that could wait, for the deception in the eyes of his own kind was enough to pull him away from those carnal urges…

II.
He moved silently down the road to Eden - it was once a cobbled road, long ago. Vines and weeds cut through the rubbled path, seeking whatever light they might receive after pushing through layers of stone and ash. The demon who had caught his attention moved ahead, a dark shadow through the burning abyss. The ground beside the path shimmered with flickering embers, an eternal inferno that blazed endlessly. His footfalls were meticulously placed, avoiding loose rocks and charred twigs that would give away his intentions. Everest ran his tongue along the fronts of his incisors, his aquatic gaze two burning pools as he moved stealthily behind. His trajectory changed then, side stepping off the path to walk beside it, the burning foliage and smoking terrain offering him a veil to hide behind, should the demon ahead get suspicious. But they didn't, once or twice they checked the path behind them, but Everest was already cleverly hidden away, the billowing smoke offering him a cloak of invisibility as he hunted the beast ahead.
It wasn't long until the orb of light that shone from Eden's gate became visible, his journey nearing its natural conclusion as the beast slowed his pursuit. His target had entered Eden now, his silhouette shrinking as the distance between them grew further and further. His gait extended, covering the ash ridden earth with a languid duo beat, his nape held in an arch as he pressed forwards. As the space between him and Eden lessened, he slowed once more, his scrutiny burning into the perfect landscape as he sought out the demon diligently. It was almost instantly that he saw them - their back to the gates of Hell as they conversed with none other than Rasa herself. Everest merely watched, he could not discern what was being said, but the tone of it… the relaxation in their posture, the dip of their crown to the Utopian hag, the shared laughter… it set every ounce of his being ablaze with an ire even he struggled to contain. No, he must wait. He remained in the borders of Hell, his jaw set as he watched the two exchange more words, another dip of their crowns to one another. The breeze shifted in his favour and the final words shared between the two were carved into his grey matter. And you guarantee my safety? A single lobe twisted upon his atlas then as Rasa spoke. I do, whatever punishment Xerxes bestows upon you, if he does at all, I will remedy once you officially renounce yourself to Utopia. You have my word.

Everest stifled the urge to snarl, he resisted every natural reaction within him that wanted to charge into Utopia and tear that wretched bitch's skin from her body. Everest moved to the side of the gates, tucked away from sight as the two traitors bid farewell to one another. Minutes dragged by as the demon entered the Underworld once more, a brief pause taken to survey his solitude before he moved back down that same stone track. Everest stepped from the shadows, eerily silent despite his towering size, this time moving directly onto the stone road to the depths of Hell. The demon ahead halted and turned, shock carving into his features briefly before he did his best to wipe it away. Everest! He greeted, as if the two had been friends all their lives. The towering black behemoth said nothing but moved beside the traitor, It is so good to see you back where you belong, you look so much - his compliments were severed then and there as Everest swung his teeth at the axial joint of the slighter demon, wrestling him to the ground violently. As Everest stood over the demon, his saliva dripped from his jaws like a hound, drooling over the treacherous bastard below, the demon stammered, trying to rise. Yet he was stopped as a forelimb struck out, clashing against the dome of the demon. Stay down, if you know what is best for you… the fiend snarled viciously, his gaze burning into the embodiment of the scum.
Please, Everest, please show mercy! the demon wailed, his eyes averting to the gates of Hell. If Rasa heard, she was not acting upon her word. Everest scoffed, a dangerous smile curling his labrets as he peered down to the bastard. Mercy? He repeated as if he had never heard such a word. I will show you mercy, this time… a wink was sent to the demon then, his crown rising as a demonic bellow left his bosom. Xerxes though, he continued, looking down once more, I doubt he'll be quite as agreeable… the traitor shut his eyes, resting his crown upon the ashen floor. There would be no use in fighting his way out, not now. After a brief moment of silence, through the eerie nothingness, the sound of wings beating upon the ether could be heard like thunder in the heavens. His judgement had arrived…

T/W: VIOLENCE, SOME GORE, LANGUAGEAn entire year had passed since the start of the war. A full four seasons had elapsed and it was coming to final blows. More battles between the citizens of the divine and the unholy, which meant that there would be greater chances for the odds to turn in the favor of either Utopia or the Underworld. One could not be too sure when one might encounter a foe, which had led Zeitgeist to remain in the protective walls of Hell for longer periods of time. Not only to remain protected, for he knew he was an important figure in Hell being second in command, but also to ensure his strength was at it’s highest. There had been a strange calm that had befallen the netherworld. The silence was deafening, or perhaps it was not all that quiet, but perhaps, Hell’s regent could not escape the thoughts that nearly plagued him. Thoughts of battles to come, souls to snatch and how to do it, as well as the outcome of the war. Akroma had been stolen, but had been released. Venari and Everest had returned, or so he believed… they had just traded out that vexing spawn of Rasa and her Lord, Cadence. But what would come next? The question boggled his mind. To say he was not slightly worried would be a lie. While he was a warlord in the mortal realm, battling as a supernatural being was new to him. What possibilities could that lead to? He was unsure. Unsure of what he was capable of now and unsure of the future. What might happen if the Underworld did not prevail? He refused to consider it. Flames danced in the corneas of the hellion as he stood in the foyer of Lord Xerxes’ sprawling home. He stood quietly staring into a pyre like fire, fed from belly of the abyss. The white devil’s eye lids lowered and propelled upward at a snail’s pace and the moisture in his optics seemed to evaporate before his lids even made it to be fully agape. The sounds of doors being flung open caught the beast off guard and he stiffened instinctually. His eye lids blinked several times, forcing his orbs to focus, as he slowly turned his dome to greet a flustered lower-level demon. Zeitgeist studied the beasts features, noticing the urgency in his movements and the trepidation in his eyes, which caused the ivory beast to frown deeply and narrow his eyes with apprehension. Before the demonic lieutenant could speak the lower demon halted and began to speak so quickly Zeitgeist furrowed his brows and shook his head back and forth as he attempted to follow the beast’s words. The lowly demon stopped suddenly, and Zeitgeist took a moment before speaking. ”Say that again. But slowly.” His voice was low, but pressing for what he thought he had heard was that another demon had betrayed the crown and was feeding information to Utopia and/or their allies. The lowly demon closed their eyes and breathed deeply a few times, letting out a heavier sigh before beginning again. ”Omen. She’s a traitor. She’s been feeding information to Utopia.” Zeitgeist stared at the demon with a fervent, fiery gaze. ”Omen as in the demon? The one residing in Hell?” He questioned with an unnerving calmness, however the growing exasperation in his optics was clear. Clear enough that the lowly demon shrank in appearance at Zeitgeist’s words. ”Yes. The very one.” He managed to say, and Zeitgeist’s lips pressed together while a deep, low hum escaped the confines of his chiseled chest. ”Where did you get this information? And how much has she told?” He inquired, again, with an eerie calmness. ”A helkaer stopped me on my rounds and told me they had stumbled upon a secret meeting. At first I did not believe it, but..” Zeitgeist’s gaze intensified, ”I went to the secret meeting place and the helkaer’s warning was proven valid. I heard her telling them how we intend to -” Zeitgeist’s auds flicked back and his jaws snapped in the lowly demons direction, missing the bridge of his nose by the length of a summer body hair. A short period of silence befell the two in the great hall before Zeitgeist turned his head and looked around the room slowly. Not another corrupted soul in sight, ”Speak no more. Clearly, we do not know who can be trusted.” His voice was a pressured whisper as Zeitgeist’s gaze returned to the lowly demon. ”Where is she now?” Zeitgeist demanded coldly, his deep Irish brogue thick as his anger began to peak. ”She has been hanging around Mount Malvolia recently. Perhaps you will find her there.” The demon said quietly. With that, the demonic commander began to disappear into tufts of smoke. As his body turned into smokey whisps, Zeitgeist uttered one last command, ”Find The Surgeon and have him alert Lord Xerxes. Tell them I have gone ahead to eliminate the threat.”Zeitgeist blinked as he began to form on a higher cliff along the volatile mountain. His eyes searched for the silver black appaloosa along the base of the volcano. He scanned back and forth, finding nothing. He began to grow impatient and irritated at the fact he could not find this traitorous wench. Just when he was ready to summon that lowly demon, his head snapped back to one spot. There he could see her standing and staring out over the ash-covered grassland. Half of her body had been covered by a rocky overhang, shielding her from prying eyes above and, likely, from below as well. Zeitgeist felt his chest swell with anxiousness. It was not a nervous anxiousness, but more of an excited anxiousness. Like a cat waiting to pounce. As he started to vaporize as a delightfully maniacal grin began to form on his lips. His form materialized before the spotted demoness. His white eyes burning holes into her hide from his lazer -like gaze as they grew narrow. The white slits were even more menacing framed in the smokey black color around his eyes and the red markings that acted almost as a runaway for the invisible blood red marking that was painted there. The hellion raised his heavy crown, his midnight antlers rising to the heavens, making him appear twice as large. ”Fantastic day to be prowling for angels, no?” Zeitgeist said lowly, almost made incomprehensible by his thick Irish brogue as he looked down his nose at the mare. The silence was telling as he watched the mare stare at him blankly before she responded, ”It is.” She offered a pleasant expression, one you might give to an ally, which caused the beast’s upper lip to lift in a disapproving, somewhat, disgusted way. From the depths of the abyss that was his soul, a groan escaped him which turned into a disbelieving “mhmm”. He blinked and inhaled, his chin lifting ever so slightly to look down even further at the fellow, but traitorous, demon. ”Have you seen any recently? Anything to report?” He asked cooly as he waited for a sign of fear or worry to cross her face, and yet, none came for she responded in a similar cool tone, ”No. I have yet to come across any angels. Nothing to report.” Zeitgeist inhaled and exhaled to calm the eternal rage that ignited into a wildfire. Liar. The muscles in his jaw bounced as his teeth mashed together in an attempt to keep the venomous words that lay at the end of his tongue, which lashed at the back of his teeth in protest, silenced. Instead, he nodded and both corners of his mouth turned down. In that moment, he turned away from her and looked out over the landscape. The heavens were clouded by ash and dark clouds and off in the distances, a single beam of sunshine penetrated through. The warm, heavenly light lit up all that it touched in that circle. Zeitgeist’s eyes widened as he focused on this area. A quiet fell between them for a moment before he began to speak. ”You know the only thing worse than any follower of Rasa, is one that betrays their own kind. Nothing in this word is more repulsive and pathetic than a tratior.” He said plainly, despite the tone, his verbiage was calculated. ”Do you know what the Underworld does to traitors?” He asked, his head turned just enough that his left orb rolled to the hind corner of his eye to gaze upon the mare who stared at him intensely now. ”Death?” Zeitgeist’s left aud flicked back as she answered him, her voice holding an almost undetectable shake to it. Zeitgeist allowed a smile to tug weakly at the corners of his mouth as a deep chuckle reverberated up his throat. ”If Lord Xerxes so decides to offer you to the mists.. but first--” There was a pause and his voice echoed in her dome, ”We know.” As if a bolt of white hot lightning, the best twisted around and lowered his dome. Without even a breath, he launched himself into the mare. She attempted to move backwards, but without much space to go either back or upwards, she was trapped. He felt his antlers connect and sink into her flesh. He dug into the earth and pushed into her further before he pulled up and back, the points ripping flesh as they made their exit. A meek cry was emitted from the mare, before screams of searing pain echoed through the eerily silent landscape. Zeitgeist grinned as he turned away from her in his surged backwards, rounding back to where he had been standing previously. He rounded back around to face her. He panted like a hungry wolf through his grin as a low, maniacal laugh escaped his throat. ”I don’t like traitors, Omen.” He paused again as he caught his breath and he watched her wounds leak metallic fluid out on her coat. Dying it a maroon red around the entry points. She faultered, falling to her knees. As he watched her struggle, his grin faded into a frown of disgust. His nares quivered and narrowed while his eyes turned to slits. ”What did they offer you that was so alluring that you would betray your brethren?” He hissed. She either did not hear him or was in too much pain to speak, as it became clear that her ability to move her left shoulder was fading. Her leg was barely able to lock into place to stand with all of the muscles making that possibly torn to shreds. His jaws closed and he grinded his jaws against one another as his auds twisted back. ”Answer me.” He demanded coldly as she writhed and whimpered in her anguish. She felt to her left knee, all her weight on a now less than sturdy limb. ”Get up.” He ordered the mare who only lowered her head as the pain consumed her. ”I said GET UP.” He roared, commanding her to rise although it might have been an impossible ask. She attempted to find her footing, but struggled to find the angle to bare weight on her one good front leg. He watched her try, but he had run out of patience. He stepped forward and lowered his head. He stared at her face, searching for her eyes, which were firming glued to the ground. He moved his face closer and the mark snapped at him. Her teeth raked across the bridge of his nose. The teeth marks filling with blood and they oozed slowly. He raised his head and offered an amused laugh. Although the wounds stung, he was far too high on this violence to feel it now. Again he lowered his head to find her eyes frantically searching back and forth for something, perhaps consciousness. Her blood had begun to drip and pool below her now. Similarly, it had begun to drip down his antlers and stain his pearly coat. ”Look at me you quisling bitch.” He snarled, close enough that his hot breath rolled across her face. She closed her eyes for a moment before opening, and looking directly into the hollow, dead eyes before her. He smirked as droplets of blood began to rain down, both, onto his face and around it. ”You better hope that Lord Xerxes feels pity for you.. for if you are subjected to torture.. you will not make it to the other circles. I promise you that.” He growled through his thick brogue as one of his curious, charismatic smiles graced his ashen lips. ”Have you ever wondered what it might be like to die twice?” He said as he began to fade away, and she too followed a few moments later. Before he fully slipped away, an ominous laugh echoed through the air as he thought of what Xerxes might condemn her to. words;; 2175 timeline;; Amaranthine War, Act III group thread, Post 2 character;; Zeitgeist tag;; JUNI! for giving me permission to write Omen! <3 notes;;talk

Neutral Royal

The leaders of the different alliances and factions had been called by the closest of Utopia’s advisors, though the reason for such a meeting had not been disclosed. Boudicca had been on her way, walking in the direction of the lands in which the meeting would be held. It was an obscure location, not within any particular herd land, which led Boudicca to feel a grow pit in her stomach. If this meeting was not held in herd land, was whatever news good or bad? The neutral Queen could only figure that the news was either really, really good or quite the opposite; and while she hoped for the best, the heavy pitted weigh in her gut told her this gathering was not for some really, really good news. Her dome rose, her golden plated chains glinting in the golden hour of sunset. The turquoise-colored gemstones sparkled in the sun’s fading light, gaining a almost greenish teal appearance in the fiery orange light. Her eyes gained the same kind of warmth as they looked off into the distance before her. Although her gaze looked to the future, her mind was distracted with the possibilities of the meeting, leaving her rooted firmly in the present. Luckily, she did not need to pay close attention to where she had been headed. The painted Queen had been accompanied by four guards from Meraki Woods. With the war being so strenuous, she elected to go without her King, and planned to relay the message to him and all those needing to know the news when she returned the safety of the neutral kingdom. She had planned to go on her own, but there had been protest from her advisors about safety during this point in the war. The Underworld had become more active. Attacks from Underworld allies were more frequent, and more brutal in their battles. Her advisors argued that it was unsafe, and while she had argued that she was perfectly capable of traveling alone, she compromised in taking several guards to ensure her safe arrival. Therefore, she was free to ponder possibilities while she walked. ”Your majesty, we are nearing the rendezvous location.” The words of a guard found their way to her small, finely shaped auds. She looked at him blankly for a moment as the words processed in her mind. She nodded, remaining silent. Just as the guard had said, she found herself in a quiet secluded glade, surrounded by trusted guards. And, she was not alone. By now the sun had faded beyond the horizon and a dark blue color had been cast over the land. Blanketing it in a cool embrace, denoting the time for sleep and rest, and yet on this unusually chilly spring night other royals or their most trusted advisors stood around the glade. Some spoke with one another and seemed to quietly catch up with one another. Boudicca did not converse with anyone, perhaps due to her relative newness in her role or the resting mare face that adorned her face. Her white tipped auds were tilted back and the lines in her face were sharp with seriousness. Her brows were slightly furrowed while her lower lid was pulled up toward her upper lid, creating a rather intense gaze. Her lips hung in a slight frown. Although she likely appeared angry and annoyed to be here, she was simply still consumed by her thoughts. Her theories on what the meeting might be about doubled now that whomever had called the meeting had still not arrived to give their message. Boudicca could not deny a slight annoyance, more so out of concern of safety. Wandering outside the safety of borders was not exactly the smartest idea, although she offered to do so herself, she knew it was not a wise choice to remain outside the borders for too long. The longer she was away, the higher chance she could be attacked or stolen. She was well aware it could still happen within the safety of Meraki, she still had more resources at home than here. Her musings had passed the time well, and soon the sounds of massive wings flapping could be heard. A forceful breeze ran through the glade, causing most of the equines to turned their faces away and close their eyes. Luckily, Boudicca had chosen a spot at the farthest end and was not too effected by the wind the wings of the angels made. She watched as three angels landed. All were large, burly stallions that had a note of shining glory. As they settled, the parties moved in to a more intimate distance so that outside ears may not pick up the conservation. ”Greetings mortals,” One stallion said, his tone was warm but grave, ”Thank you for coming, though I wish this meeting was one more joyous.” There was what Boudicca was worried about. The stone-like weigh in her stomach sank, and her frown deepened as her auds flicked forward to listen intently. ”Utopia’s secrets and war plans have been compromised. There was found to be a traitor in our midst who had tricked us all into thinking they were angel but had been truly sided with the Underworld for an unprecedented amount of time.” Boudicca’s brows furrowed, and she inhaled an angry, shaky breath. She could not stand a traitor, and this angel had been a wolf in sheep’s clothing for so long. There was no telling how long secrets had been shared. And while the odds of the war had seemed normal for now, that could very well change. Which is was bothered Boudicca and her beliefs on loyalty, but the truth was there was not much she could physically control at the moment. Her mortality was obvious in comparison to a supernatural being; therefore, she would not be seeking out this angel or any demon for vengeance. Which equally annoyed her because she felt powerless. ”At this time, it is unknown what has been reported to the enemy, so take extra precautions getting home as well as within your homes. We will be employed more angels to lands, but angel numbers have been lower so not all lands will gain extra guardians.” Boudicca’s lips pressed together with concern. How would angels be allocated and what criteria determined who was in more need of another? She wondered as he continued, ”We will keep this short because we are aware of the dangers you faced in traveling here today. Be careful of what you share and who you share it with. We must all be extra vigilant. Please be safe returning home and those heading south, stay off the main traveling roads. On our way in there were several Underworld troops spotted getting nestled into position for attacks.” With that some other equines had questions, some questions being around the topic of discussion but soon the conversation switched to questions about the war and needed assistance. Boudicca looked to her guards and motioned her head to leave. They began to put themselves into position and Boudicca took her place among them. Just as they were about to leave she paused and spoke quietly, ”We must be careful returning home and stay off the most used trails. The angels spotted several guerilla groups along the roads.” The guards looked at one another and nodded. A younger guard spoke up boldly, but quietly as asked the Queen, ”What did the angels have to say, Queen Boudicca?” Boudicca inhaled and exhaled looking back towards the group of royals and advisors before returning her Caribbean colored gaze to the young warrior, ”I think it is best to wait to tell you until we are safe within the borders of Meraki Woods. I will hold counsel with King Avinash to let him know, then we will tell you all.” She paused her speech. The young guard, as well as a others, could note the graveness in her raspy, deep voice, and had begun to share worried glances. Boudicca watched this and stepped closer to the guards. Her voice lowered even more and her volume was but a whisper, ”It is not good news. It puts us all in danger. We must get some as soon as we can.” She said firmly, her gaze moving between the guards. Luckily, their courage seemed to find them and off they went. Boudicca knew she would likely not arrive now until the early morning hours by having to take a longer, more convoluted way home. But she knew saving her energy for later battles was needed right now. They started off into the night. Again, Boudicca’s mind traveled to the identity of the angel. A high-ranking angel that had betrayed the Utopians, but also most of wild equines. The magnitude of those in danger now overwhelmed her and she felt her head drop in an almost defeated way. Would she be able to keep her people safe? That was her most important goal during the war, but she wondered if she would be able to manage it. Suddenly, a strange smell found it’s way into her nostrils. The smell was strange until her brain recognized it as a scent that had fainted clinging to the lord of the underworld himself. The scent of brimstone and fire smoke filled the air. She perked up some when she recognized the scent and, then, as her travel party turned a corner into a meadow, several forms could be seen in the center of the open area. Boudicca slowed with her party as they accessed the situation. By now the equines had noticed their presence and turned their heads to look. Boudicca blinked as wings and horn began to materialize on the bodies and heads of these equines as they began to turn to approach the Queen and her guards. They moved in front of her instinctively.. Unfortunately, it was that moment that she realized they had walked into a meeting of the other war party and they would have to defend themselves. Boudicca’s auds pressed back as she heard a guard whisper for her to run, and she shook her head. ”No, I will not leave you all. We fight together” She said lowly as she assumed a stance of readiness. That was about the moment that the Underworld demons all started in their direction. She sent up a silent pray to the Utopian Lady and Lord. Unsure if they would hear her, but it was worth a try as the demons began to close in. words;; 1758 timeline;; Amaranthine War, Act III GROUP THREAD character;; Boudicca tag;; notes;; sorry for the lateness, I've been without power since 9pm. He heard that deafening bellow, he felt it through the very ground he stood upon. Everest was calling to him, demanding his presence, something that seemed so very important could not remain unanswered. The towering marble behemoth unfurled his mass from the shadows, his hellish gaze two burning coals in the murk. His gait extended, a sturdy duo beat across the ash-ridden terrain before his dragon like appendages unfurled from his sides, beating the air thrice as he powered, his mass quickly airborne. Xerxes narrowed his scrutiny as the hot winds of the abyss whipped at his face, invisible whips slashing his countenance as he forced his flight onwards. Unlike the time when Everest had been taken hostage by Rasa, he could feel the presence of his brood within the confines of the Underworld. Yet his position was further out than Xerxes had expected - as he soared through the sanguine miasma that lingered above the smouldering landscape below, he caught sight of the polished onyx hide of his son looming over a body at his feet. Narrowing his gaze slightly, Xerxes clasped his wings to his barrel and spiralled to the earth below like a fighter jet.
He landed deftly, eerily easily as his knives met the earth with a thud, his knees bent to brace for the impact. Regaining composure, the devil looked to Everest and then to the demon at his feet. A brow curled in the direction of his son, a silent invitation to explain himself. There was a mad look in the eyes of his child, those oceanic depths threatened to drown him should he look long enough. Everest licked his lips ravenously, spittle dripping from them as he glowered at his father. Caught this one colluding with Rasa, he spoke and the ivory leviathan twisted his nape to allow him to view the demon. Is that so? Everest bobbed his crown eagerly, the father and son duo looking down at the demon in unison as he scrabbled to his feet. Lord Xerxes, please, I beg of you - Xerxes grinned and rose his jaw a fraction, those inky lips twisted into a dangerous leer. Beg me for what? He questioned, an eerie silence formed between them then as a plan seemed to form in the dreadlord's grey matter. You need not beg, rise, please - Xerxes took a step back from the space of the fallen, allowing him space to stand, Everest however did not move. His icy gaze burned into his father, pained doubt flashing in those optics, yet Xerxes merely winked at him. You see, this is the land of the treacherous, the home of the liars and the sinners - if anything, such behaviour should be rewarded. Come, let me bestow upon you a title befitting for such a conniving mind.
Xerxes did not wait for an answer, his one wing extending to wrap around the quarters of the demon. Everest merely glowered, refusing to move until Xerxes turned to face him with eyes dark and callous, hollow burning pits that burned into his son. Everest, join us, you must witness our friend's ascension to the upper echelons of the Underworld… his son knew something was afoot, something was being schemed within his sire's grey matter. And so, he fell silently into line on the opposite side of the demon. Xerxes guided them, yet along their journey maintained civility and small talk, querying the demon on his choices and why he had acted against the Underworld. Their conversation was tense, Everest merely listening along until eventually Xerxes halted. The once smouldering abyss was now a distant memory - what was before them now was nothing, the charred black cliffs that dropped into the void below. Translucent clouds ebbed flowed below like billowing smoke. The mists. Where are we, my lord? Which Circle is this? Xerxes grinned, moving forwards to stand by the edge of the cliffs, looking over into the chasm below. Come, see for yourself… he invited the demon, yet Everest did not move, he simply watched as the demon moved forwards, standing beside his father.
The demon peered over the edge, narrowing his gaze as he watched the clouds below in confusion. My lord Xerxes, there is nothing here… he stood back to peer up at the devil but it was too late, Xerxes had swung his teeth at the throat of the demon, dragging him to his knees in a vulgar and brutal display of power. The demon struggled in vain against the might of the behemoth as his mass crashed down upon him relentlessly, blow after blow, ensuring there was little left to recognise. Xerxes stood then, adorned in blood spatter, a savage shine in his eyes as a silent snarl formed on his lips. You made the same mistake Rasa and her angels have done - you underestimated me. There will be no peace for you, he hissed before forcing his horns beneath the demon and shoving him over the edge into the mists, a scream echoed until silence took hold. Xerxes smirked, turning to Everest then with a leer. Fetch me her angels, let's give him some company…

"Speech." The king slumbered soundly. Much more soundly than he had in quite some time. So when he arose with the dawn, he was mildly surprised to see that his beloved was not at his side. The king grunted and groaned in a playful manner as he stretched his limbs, lifting himself from the cool ground with ease that did not match the nose from his mouth. The blue eyed bastard peered to his side then, watching as Shenzi too willed herself awake and yawned an eerily large one. The massive bone crushing jaws something he merely smirked at. He knew the hyena would never turn upon him... on others however, well... they would not be so lucky. The king motioned for the canid to follow then, his heavy frame twitching as his muscles warmed. As he stepped through the door of he and his brides chamber he looked at the guard posted there, Damocles. The king gave a slight huff, his heavy brow quirking as the guard spoke quickly in those sweet heavy tones of his. "My king." Selven's crown tilted then, the expression on the guard one of malice and patience. Selven turned himself around to fully face Damocles, his cold gaze piercing into the purple ones of the other brute. "What is it Damocles, you normally stoop not to that of watching me as i slumber." Selven's smooth lyrics were on the cusp of jest, a half assed smile twisting his lips. The hulking hand of the king turned his fine roman head before he spoke. "There was a disturbance in the night. The queen wished for you to remain in your slumber." there was a slight pause, Selven's brow quirking even more as he motioned for his hand to lead them out of the castle. "A traitor, in the land. It has been handled quite effectively by our Queen... I am sure you will admire her work." As Damocles said this, the pair of stags stepped through the giant doors of the main entrance of the keep and was greeted by a hellish sight. A half dead guard barely stood at the mouth of the keep, its bloodied bodice a damaged shell. Selven could not stop the purr that left his throat as they both encroached upon the stallion that was tethered.
Selven could not stop the menacing grin that curled at his lips. No eyes, no ears... no tongue. But there was no compassion here. Selven cocked his head to the side then, a whimsical whistle leaving his throat as Damocles stood at his side. "My beloved, the most perfect dark Queen there ever could be." His voice trailed off for a moment before he stepped around the tethered guard, teeth sinking into his flesh before stepping away. The poor beast barely able to lash out at the violent kiss. "This vulgar display is so fitting, wouldn't you agree? I dare say... we need more." Selven chuckled lightly his frame coming to stand by Damocles once again, however Selven now faced the keep again. "Let us have a little hunt tonight. If this fool thought he could turn on us, on the underworld, let us snare what family he has left." The blinded stag strained himself trying to make a sound. The light rattle of his tether only making the duo toned bastard laugh. "Oh, he's still got some life! Well then. Hear me." Selven said over his shoulder at the guard. "Your first mistake was thinking you were safe to slight us in our own home. Your second.." Selven chuckled cruelly, "Well... You already know." Selven did not know if the fucker could hear everything or if he was merely responding to the sense of them there. But regardless of the fact, it was time to find his family. Thomasin obviously wanted this wretch alive... but that did not mean he couldn't take the other's women and throw their heads on a pike. Guilty by association after all.

CW: Violence and mentions of eating meatNo matter someone's position in the war, this was a time where true colors began to show. Morals were put to the test, alliances are formed and broken, friends pitted against each other. Everyone is reminded of their mortality, and that fear leads to irrational actions and decisions. The beast may have so far opted not to attack someone purely because they were an Utopian supporter, but that did not mean that he trusted them or wouldn't have harmed them if they issued threats to him or his people. Instead, he had had some interesting conversations and managed to remain unscathed. He was no stranger to war by any means - the scars all over his body proved that - but he knew there was a time and place for violence. Today was one of those days. After hearing about the betrayal in The Howling Keep, Kladdan had begun to keep a closer eye on all the comings and goings in his land. There were few he trusted implicitly, especially since he was often traveling instead of remaining on the island. He fully trusted Galdr to keep the isle safe and had reason not to suspect the stallion of any type of foul play. The two had been operating mostly independently but the ruby stag was satisfied with their arrangement. So far, things had been going smoothly other than Riddler being taken. That was a problem that Kladdan fully intended to rectify after he handled another matter. Before heading down towards the Damballa House, the bay ensured that Hyde had taken Kore down to the boathouse - far away from what was about to happen. Once they had left, he turned down the worn path and wove his way through the tall iron posts. His rage grew with every step, not even trying to hide it from his face. Riddler greeting him at the entrance to manor. The buckskin said nothing, his own anger rippling off his hide as if it were alive. The lead said nothing and walked through the cracked floors to one of the large, dark rooms that held a handful of guards and a tall, painted mare. Instead of cowering at his presence, she stood tall with an air of indifference. There was only resignation on her face where there should have been regret or even fear. The beast grew even more angry the longer he looked at her. For a moment, all eyes were on the scarred stallion as he glared at his prisoner. She had been found traveling from the Howling Keep to speak to an angel. Though the two stallions who had witnessed the exchange didn't know the winged equine's name, they recognized him as being from Utopia. She told him about the herd sizes, where they gathered, cambions, known prisoners - information that should never have been uttered outside of the Dark Kingdom. Information she would die for. Kladdan had no desire to keep her prisoner. He was not one for prolonged torture, though he supposed he could take her to Charm and let him play with her. However, his mind was already made up. Her betrayal could lead to lives being lost or taken. She didn't deserve to live, even if it would be a painful existence. She needed to pay in blood. Did you come up with a bullshit excuse for what you have done? If you did, I would love to hear it. He didn't care and it wouldn't change his mind, but it would be entertaining to hear. The mare's mouth remained shut, her green eyes narrowing into a glare. Kladdan sauntered forward, tilting his head with a twisted grin across his scarred lips. Ah, you have nothing to say now? How disappointing. The gathered guards shifted uncomfortably and slowly took a step back as the beast came closer. You had plenty to say to that angel. You don't have anything to tell me? The mare remained silent, only serving to feed the rage beneath his skin. He stopped just out of her reach and shook his head slowly. His violet eyes finally met hers and an almost genuine smile tugged his lips apart. Coward. He didn't bother to see her reaction as the stallion rushed forward. The hunger he had been fighting off all day rose to the surface. His jaws closed on the flesh along her neck just under her skull. As the blood filled his mouth, he pushed into the mare more, shoving her into the smooth walls just behind her. If she made any pained noises, Kladdan heard none. He was taller than her and she was thinner than she should have been. It made it easy to pin her as he tore strips of flesh from her neck. His jaws worked upwards, barely comprehending what he was eating as he continued. The rage and hunger took full control as the blood painted their pelts and the floor as the mare slowly sank to the floor. That didn't stop the stallion from continuing to feed and quickly creating a sticky pile of carnage at his hooves. Kladdan had no idea how much time had passed before he finally slowed. The face on the floor was unrecognizable, and the pool of blood was almost beautiful in the dim light. He stared into the one eye he could see and shook his head as he straightened. Only one guard remained, and the black stallion looked almost delighted at the violence before him. The lead regarded him silently for a moment then gestured to the closed door. Go to the Keep. Inform the King and Queen of what had happened. And if you see Kore, make sure she stays away from the manor. The last thing Kladdan wanted was for the young filly to see the violence he was capable of, even if this was to protect her. The guard nodded and left with a twisted half smile that had the bay smirking. Speech➳ T e c h n o ➳ and Raven for mentions of Galdr and Kore

An announcement had been made that there had been an individual who had betrayed Utopia. Avinash was sketchy on the details, having not been made privy to all of the specifics that had involved the traitor, but he was well aware of the overall circumstance. It was heartbreaking, truly. Utopia and their allies were fighting so hard, and so for someone to deceive them, to put them that much more behind... It was disheartening. Disturbing. Angering. Now, King Avinash was not one to anger easily by any stretch of the imagination - but thinking of this situation, he found the uncomfortable heat of bitterness pooling within his gut. He was exhausted. He, as an individual, had been committing himself to the war efforts for months. He had tirelessly traversed the continent of Wild Equines trying to improve the Utopian's chances. and that had been done on top of maintaining his responsibilities as King of the Neutral Kingdom. He knew that there were many others working just as hard, if not harder, than himself. For someone to completely disregard that, to make the choice to wrong those battling so firmly... Ugh, Avinash just hated thinking about it.
But yet, he could not help it. He mulled over it again and again in his mind, trying to figure out why this individual would have done what they had done. Had they sided with Utopia initially, with the intention of betraying them from the start? Having known that they would ultimately support the Underworld, and therefore had worked alongside the Utopians in order to gain their trust, to gain intel? Avinash figured that this was likely the worst case scenario. Other scenarios that he had deliberated included the former Utopian-ally being tricked, taken advantage of, or even coerced into becoming a turncoat. Maybe they were threatened. Maybe a loved one was threatened. It was so difficult to consider the "why". But what was even the point of that? Knowing why wouldn't change the fact that it had happened. It wouldn't reverse the hurt. There was no changing the past - all they could do now was to try to work to correct the disadvantage that the passing of this secret information had caused the Utopians, as best as they were able to.
It was with such a thought in mind that Avinash would strive to put this ordeal behind him - but fate would not make this so easy. For on one eve when the Neutral King was wandering between territories once again, he would find himself dragged into the story of this traitor. While word had been spread of what this individual had done, the Utopians had yet to locate the individual to deliver justice. Avinash had just assumed that the individual in question had retreated beyond the reach of the Utopian allies, hiding within the cover of the Underworldians. If that had been his intention, he had not yet succeeded. Avinash was making his way steadily, yet casually, back towards his home when a ruckus within the bush drew his attention. It started from a ways away, with the familiar sound that was the pounding of hooves. They were unsteady, unbalanced - and alongside its clamoring was indication of chaos. Snapping of branches, rustling of hedges as the foliage was shoved aside to make way for the body crashing through. Someone was running, and they appeared desperate. Avinash drew himself to a stop, awaiting for the individual to come closer so he could assess the situation. Considering the trying times they lived in, he wanted to ensure this was not a Utopian or one of their allies being pursued - in which case, he would endeavour to offer his aid. But it was not the case that it was someone needing his help, no, quite the opposite... For when the being emerged through the thicket, Avinash's chasms widened in surprise. It was none other than the one he had been ruminating about, the one who had betrayed the Utopians. The beast stumbled onto the path before Avinash, clearly dishevelled, seemingly having put in a great deal of effort to sloppily escape whoever was chasing him. And the monarch could hear the huntsmen, their yells as they tried to trail and track the escapee. Avinash quickly glanced over the shoulder of the informer towards the rest of the fracas, still a ways off from what he could tell. Then, he returned his sights to the one before him, who was staring at him in return as he gasped for breath. Avinash then realized that he blocked the traitor's escape route - that it was only Avinash who stood between the turncoat and his freedom. And seemingly, the other steed realized it too. The bay tobiano's muscles tensed. The opposing stallion spat, "Get out of my way, or I'll make you." The king denied the sensation to recoil at the harshness of the words and the threat behind it. Now, Avinash was not one to seek out a fight... But in this circumstance? He had to be brave. He couldn't let this creature to escape, not considering what he was done. And if Avinash had to fight to keep him here until the rest arrived, then well... He would do so. "I'm not going to do that." He responded with a casual shake of his head, then steadied his stance, ready for whatever this beast was going to try to throw at him.
(I know I missed the deadline but I'm posting this anyways as I had half a post written already and didn't want to waste it!).
