There's nothing sweet about me
Spring was finally here, which meant that summer was just around the corner. Tarot was so excited! She could not wait to spend countless days on the beach this summer, basking in the sun. Well, if there were any beaches left after this dreadful war was over. Not a fighter herself, Tarot had avoided thinking much about the war. At all. Mainly because once she started thinking about it she couldn't stop and then she spiraled into anxiety and fear and that was so not how Tarot liked to live her life. She wanted to be carefree and happy, not crippled by anxiety, which was why she was determined to make the best of things. She figured it was safe enough to go out to the Free Lands this morning. She'd informed her family where she was going, gods forbid she not return, and had set off toward the Free Lands a little after sunrise. She hummed to herself as she walked along the various paths that the Free Lands offered, dark brown eyes observing everything around her because she was no fool. She knew it would be dangerous to not pay attention to the world around her just because she felt safe in the moment. And just as that thought crossed her mind was when, up ahead, she saw two figures. Two large figures. And they were engaging in battle. Tarot stopped short, her head flinging upwards in surprise. Her eyes went wide as she stared at the two equines, kicking and biting at one another. Were they soldiers in the war, or just two fellows out in the Free Lands having a spar? Unsure of the situation, Tarot backed away slowly a few steps, ears pinned uneasily, and then turned and fled the area.
In her haste to get away, she ended up down a path she typically avoided, heading to the area known as Pahaendeline. The graveyard. It always gave her the creeps. At the first site of the tombstones, her pace slowed and she huffed in annoyance. Well, this was just great, then, wasn't it! She halted at the entrance of the graveyard, stomping a hoof into the soft soil beneath her. She hated this place. It was so dark and eerie, and this morning there was a light mist covering the area. But at least it was quiet and away from those two that had been fighting. She looked lover her shoulder, as if she expected to see them coming after her, and huffed again. She was determined not to let this ruin her day, so facing forward once more, she began to slowly make her way through the overgrown graveyard. Hopefully, cutting through here to the other side would bring her out toward a much better place.
