Kular Valley was green again, the long grasses springing ever higher as the spring season progressed to wave gently in a soft breeze that carried the promise of warmer weather as time progressed. More time passing. All while a daughter remained missing and a son worried himself into a state that Nikko's Melody feared would make him ill. And so very little that she could do about it. All this while the Afterlife had opted to tear itself apart in war. When her family could have used their aid, they were too busy with their own grievances.
Typical.
There were days like this when Melody felt the burden of her worries like a crushing weight. Inescapable. Of course her family did everything they could to help. Her childhood friend, Kaja, had offered support in every way the ink and ivory femme could think of. Yet she still felt so alone, somehow. To say that she was struggling with it all would be an understatement of tremendous proportions. She just wanted her daughter back, safe and sound. She wanted to know that her son was healthy and happy, content to chase around his twin just as he had all the rest of his life.
The only solace in all that had been going on was the news Mother had given, quietly confident, that Chime's condition was beginning to improve. Recovery would take time, but her eldest was finally on the mend. Relief in that knowledge was immense... she just wished it was not accompanied by worry for Mother, whose age had begun to show ever more throughout the ordeal of Chime's illness, while Mother had so tirelessly tended to the eldest of Melody's children. Obviously no one lived forever, but the idea of Mother gone...
Giving herself a firm shake, Melody scanned the terrain. She could not deny a fruitless hope of somehow spotting Orel at random, but at the very least, perhaps she could meet someone who might know something which might in some way, direct or indirect, lead to location her daughter? Sometimes life is altered Won't turn out right, can't turn out right It was warm out today, and the world was green and vibrant. Spring had arrived despite the chaos of war that ravaged Wild Equines. Not even the Free Lands were safe anymore, even for a guy like him that didn't mind a fight here any there. When angels and demons were involved, there was no telling what could happen. He'd heard they had supernatural abilities, that the Lords and Ladies could strike you down with the blink of an eye. That was not something he wanted to find out, personally. That was too much power for an equine to have. In his opinion, what was dead should stay dead. No one should come back to life or become some immortal entity. Death was supposed to be final - what was the point of an Afterlife if you still had the turmoil of mortality (like war, for example)? He huffed at the thought, giving his head a shake to ward off the thoughts of the chaos that had enveloped Wild Equines. All his years of living here, he'd never seen a war quite like this. There had been several wars throughout the years, but he couldn't remember Utopia or the Underworld ever being this heavily involved. He'd come to Kular Valley in hopes of finding some peace and quiet instead of equines sparring. So far, so good, it would seem, and relaxation came as he walked through the swaying green grasses of the valley. He let out a sigh of relief, letting his head hang a bit as he walked, though his ears and eyes remained on a constant swivel, always alert for any signs of trouble. But it was not trouble that he found as he strolled through the field that morning. Instead, it was a lone mare. She had a look on her face like she was troubled and, always one to want to help a woman in need, Demond began to walk toward her. When he was near enough to be heard, but not too close as to be frightening, he whinnied - the tone friendly and curious. "Good morning," he stated, nodding his head along with the verbal greeting.
