Circumstances were looking heated for the dark keep -- and Sau still wasn't sure when or where his role in all of this would come to play. He was a patient boar, willing to wait for his number to be called to come forward when the time came. For now he was more or less eager to find out more information. He wanted to know anything from the legacies of fallen Dark King's to the daily routine of the herd in the simplest of terms. He was coming into this seemingly blindly, and the last thing he needed was any feathers to ruffle merely at his existence in the Keep.
The gold and obsidian stag with a skull on his face was a solid start. In Sau's mind, that boar was a free ticket towards both keeping himself alive, and possibly winning over as much information he could in a small span of time. Whether or not Belial was going to go along with this idea was probably the number one roadblock the blue painted boar was getting stumped by. Making this plan in his head was enough to cause a massive headache, but he was determined to see it through, get as far as he could and offer his allegiance just as quickly to Thomasin, especially if he could have Belial on his side already. If anything it was guaranteeing him a place of protection and reprieve -- however long or short that might be. And on even truer terms, Sau was purely curious about Belial. He'd seen something of interest and true to fashion, Sau wanted to know more about him. He'd grown up with brothers and this one seemed parry to them -- call it Sau being drawn towards him for this reason as well unconsciously.
It was true he knew nothing still of this place, nor who was ruling it, but he was keen on putting the pictures together by his own sources. Belial was the first one to come to mind, having seared a spot in Sau's memory the moment he'd seen him at the announced gathering. He would hopefully also prove to be a security for Sau's initiation, although Belial was of course one of a few invisible threads he had sewn a connecting point towards when he'd been silently scouting before the meeting. A deep, heavy snort rattled from the blue boar's nostrils, peach nares vibrating as he exhaled the last of his uneasiness, releasing it into the air in order to center himself again. The painted boar slowly walked down the uneven stone pathway, his body bracing before he jumped steadily down a small stone-laiden embankment, determined to see his surroundings and familiarize himself with the Keep's immediate territories.
It was only a matter of time before someone would show, would they not?
The boar hit the bottom of the uneven stone ladder with a heavy thump shaking under the terrain, his peach hooves landing hard on the dark soil and moss, white feathers falling back into place around his hooves. He gave a full body shake, allowing a light cloud of dust to dissipate into the air from his topline, his dial slowly raised, crest curling, and his teal eyes soft yet darkened focusing on the shadows before him. Mist skirted his knee's and hocks as he stepped forward a few steps, no hesitance or nervousness evident in his expression nor his presentation. His aud's twisted forward, occasionally dashing to the sides to see if he could hear a noise he'd thought he'd heard earlier, just before coming down the steep embankment.

The herd meeting had gone largely as the beast had expected. Selven was gone. Thomasin was understandably pissed. Whether Selven was found, or made an reappearance, remained to be seen. The beast would not be surprised if either came to pass, or neither did for that matter. Power was a fickle thing after all. There was no way of knowing how it would treat you. The more pressing matter at hand was the fact that the position would have to be filled, and swiftly at that. How many would step forwards? There certainly hadn’t been many at the herd meeting that had seemed the type to step forwards. News travelled far however. There was every possibility that a newcomer or two would chose to seize the opportunity presented to them. Regardless, Thomasin would make her choice and either the beast would be successful or he would not. He would make plans regardless especially given his recent absence. Thomasin would expect the beast to make up for it. That expectation was a key part of the beast resuming his old patrol routine quickly after his return. An early start meant that by late morning the beast had already completed his first round.
With the outer borders attended to, the beast allowed his path to wander further inland. While he might not have detected anything of concern on the borders, it did not mean that a threat hadn’t potentially slipped past them. Given his size the beast navigates the relatively limited terrain with surprising ease. There was little activity as he delved deeper, even the wildlife seemingly more subdued then usual. Perhaps the lingering oppressive mood was partially to blame for it. It was an atmosphere the beast doubted would shift anytime soon. Not with Selven having vanished and Thomasin reeling from such a loss. Silently, the beast breaks free of the last line of tree separating himself from the crumbling keep. The structure looms before him, a towering structure that some could consider out of place against the forest backdrop surrounding it. By the foot of the deteriorating stairs leading to the entrance stands another. A stallion. One that has a spark of recognition forming at the back of his consciousness. The other male had been present at the herd meeting and had seemingly taken an interest in the beast at one point. Now, he seemed almost lost. It would make sense if he was new.
The beast had little intention of sticking around, or really interacting with anyone if he could help it, but still he found himself pausing as he drew roughly level. With several strides separating them, he allows his cranium turns just enough for a single optic to observe the other stallion. As the beast wordlessly observes him his expression remains emotionless, his gaze a heavy weight upon the others pelt. The seconds drag by until finally with the slightest motion of his crown the beast is pressing onwards once again. It’s subtle, but the gesture of his cranium is a wordless invitation. Whether the other male would catch on was another matter. If his previous interest in the brute was anything to go on then it was likely he would, although it would remain to be seen how willing the beast would be to satisfy his expectations.

As the boar stood in silence before the other dark stallion, he felt the air grow heavy and the atmosphere felt stagnant, as if nature herself was pausing her daily routine to avoid this interaction in her earthy path. Hell itself was close to this circle, and therefore Sau felt he could be himself here – to a point, at least – That being said, he wasn’t looking to show his bloodstained side so earnestly, at least not to a member regarded so highly as this one. He was determined to rank himself here, earn his own way as best he could, though motivation was also never a strong point on the pentagram of his persona. Regardless, the blue painted boar was also not keen to make enemies so quickly – it was tacky, at best.
”You’re the one Thomasin looks to.” His statement was vague, spoken as hinting at nothing more than the fact the boar with a skull over his face seemed to hold some sort of value to the lead. His vocals were quiet, almost a mumble of sorts, lazy words summarized with little meaning or intention to them, much like the boar’s demeanor. He’d felt drawn to this boar, though not even he knew entirely why, only his instinct was driving him to find out more – call it survival if you will – but to Sau it was more or less seen as a strategy. He knew where he stood in this herd, and his character in its entirety was nowhere near ready to be stripped of its newborn-foal title. He also knew waiting around for others to approach him was less than ideal. ”They look to you for protection… Am I correct?” once again he spoke with little to no threat in his tone, only curiosity. He wanted to level with the gold and obsidian boar, he wanted to align with him of course, but first he wanted to earn his trust.
”Call me Saudade.” ’Sow-dod-jee’ the full sound of his name was one the boar hadn’t heard in ages, and it felt almost foreign on his own tongue. Simultaneously a flash of disappointment seemed to roll over his visage, but as quickly as it had flashed, it had disappeared entirely – the memory attached to his own name was difficult to process – In it’s place, an expression of confident coolness smoothly and swiftly shielded it. The boar lowered his dial a bit, his crest curling with it as he approached the skull-faced boar with less hesitancy, and more or less what he would call friendliness. He awaited a reply, patience visible on his softened facade, a small smirk appeared, somewhat gracing his features naturally. Though it was clear he was staying somewhat tense, his draft figure heavily weighing down the terrain beneath him like a hissing freight train waiting to warm up – if it would need to happen. His mind was occupied by the citrus glisten he’d spotted earlier when the boar had turned his dial ever so slightly, the light catching the gold optic in a sphere of obsidian shadow – it stuck with him, peaking Sau’s curiosity, and it was obvious. He was hoping offering his name would cement some sort of invisible thread between them, if anything giving the skulled boar any excuse to dig up Sau’s history, if need be of course. He’d offered it so freely not necessarily to be an olive branch so much as a key bit of information about the blue boar that could offer so much to Belial – and hopefully such a gift could be seen as a neutralizing agent to any threat Sau had inadvertently given any time before.
