The Dark Kingdom had lost another king, and had left her reeling. She knew that there was a War going on, and where her royals stood on the mater. She had supported them all the while, and had been loyal since the very day her mother dropped her off without a second thought. The herd of The Howling Keep had become her family since then, and she had done all she could to help them. Even during the horrible raid carried out by the Helkaer. That was when Selene really knew how valuable and important she was or could be. The meeting Thomasin had called was dispersing, and she was left standing alone with the Dark Queen. Her appaloosa frame loked fierce and borderline unapproachable. This was the first time ever that she had felt like an outcast here.
The painted mare hesitantly approached Thomasin, her expression was a grave one. "Thomasin, can we talk?" Selene broached cautiously. The Nephilim brand on her shoulder never felt more dangerous to her as she stood before the Queen she had chosen to serve. "It's about your decree for those of us with connections to either Utopia aor the Light Kingdom to leave..." She trailed off nerviously. Selene was not known for her confidence nor her curelty. She had connections to Utopia that she had never asked for. Selene had only met her father Ouray once. While she considered him family, she would not say they were close. Ouray had been kind to her in ways that Aphelion had not.
There was a sadness in her eyes as she considered the next question she wanted to ask. "I have connections to Utopia that I did not ask for because I am a Nephilim. Have I lost my value to you? Is my loyalty and devotion to you worthless? Please, Thomasin... I have nowhere to go." Selene poured her worries out for the Queen, and she hoped that she would not be punished or sneered away. Selene appeared small because she felt small in a way that she had never felt before. She wasn't sure if she wanted comfort or to be told she was to be discarded despite this being the only life she'd ever known. To anyone else, the questions may have sounded accusatory.
But when Selene asked, it was obvious that she asked if her loyalty and devotion were worthleess because she felt that in her core.

The witch queen watched with glowering orbs as the gathering of her herd dissipated, trailing through the door like a line of ducks, the mood sombre, a black cloud hanging over them at the loss of another king. She felt it too, deep within her gut, she felt the ache of loss, the sting of heartbreak. The royal herd had seemingly been failed time and time again by their leaders - some stuck around, many did not, for whatever reason. With her scrutiny honed in entirely on the disappearing spines of her ward, she failed to notice that Selene remained. Thomasin sighed, her own shoulders sagging slightly with the weight of her pain, before her attention fell upon Selene. A nephilim, a child of Utopia, no doubt her warning rattled the softer sensibilities of the child, and so when the mare approached, the queen softened her gaze and features slightly. "Thomasin, can we talk?” The monarch bobbed her atlas gently, a small smile curling her lips despite the pain that shimmered in her eyes. "It's about your decree for those of us with connections to either Utopia aor the Light Kingdom to leave…” A brow quirked above a single golden orb, her brow furrowing softly, preparing for disappointment. Was Selene about to choose her side?
Thomasin said nothing however, leaving it to the two toned lass to continue on without the threat of interruption. "I have connections to Utopia that I did not ask for because I am a Nephilim. Have I lost my value to you? Is my loyalty and devotion to you worthless? Please, Thomasin... I have nowhere to go.” She kept her attention solely upon Selene as she spoke, the stammer in her words, the shrinking of her very being, the self doubt, the uncertainty. It reminded Thomasin of a younger her, the youthful babe she had been when her sire had opened that cell door and let her be free. She herself had nowhere to go, she had gone to seek her mother out only to discover she too was no more. It was the very same raid that Selene had found her worth in, that Thomasin had found her calling. The fire and the flame, the carnage, havoc leaked upon the dark kingdom and for what? She had adopted the mentality of fighting fire with fire, they would not back down, they would be prepared. That was until the heads of the afterlife decided to go to war amongst themselves and drag the mortals in with them…
Selene… she uttered the name of the lass softly, her crown shaking too and fro as she descended the two steps to meet the mare on her level. Perhaps it was too forwards, but the yearning she had felt for the embrace of her daughter, Cersei, overcame her and she found her draping her atlas across Selene's withers, pulling her in softly. Thomasin held her for a moment, fighting the wave of sadness that threatened to drag her down to the depths. Stepping back after a moment, she took Selene fully into her gaze, her obsidian tendrils flicking gently against her hocks. We are all bound, in some way or another, to things we would rather not be, she began, a small smile curling her lips as she thought to Oath, the relationship he shared with her mother and how that had caused the death of her father. I have requested that those with allegiance to the Light Kingdom, in any shape or form, leave as it is members of the Light Kingdom who have targeted me, my family, and now likely our King… when it was just my family at the end of these attacks, it could be contained. But now with Selven… she trailed off, steadying the shiver in her vocal cords. It is a risk I cannot take.
There was a pause, for she knew it was not the Light Kingdom that Selene was concerned about. For those with allegiances to Utopia… we are at war with them. It was Rasa who decided to hurt me whilst I stood beside my brother that she and her angels ambushed, Thomasin's gaze seemed to darken a fraction as she recalled the vivid memory of the announcement of war, and how Everest was dragged to Utopia simply for being the child of Xerxes. There have been further complications since, and I am certain the wrath of Utopia will soon be making its way for me, after all, it was her who had tried to hand Hymn, a versai child, over to Xerxes to claim his retribution for the loss of Ragnar. It was her who had been prepared to sacrifice a child to the Underworld - it was only a matter of time before they came for her. So, I cannot have any weakness in our defences, I cannot allow them a way in easily. If your loyalty to your home, to the Dark Kingdom and in turn, to me, is as true as you say, then your value, your worth, and your friendship, must remain. This is your home for as long as you wish it to be, and should you protect it, I shall protect you. You have my word.
