Croesus It had been so long since he'd set foot in the realm of Wild Equines. It was the place of his birth and the last place he'd seen his mother and father. Contagion had disappeared at some point during his life, as did his mother. No doubt that Hoax had run off after him. That left Croesus to rot in the Dark Kingdom for a time before he set out in search of them. It was one thing for his father to leave, and another entirely for his mother to think she was allowed to do such a thing. Hoax belonged to him. His icy white eyes slid along the horizon of the unfamiliar terrain.
He'd only been back in the depths of the Dark Kingdom for a few weeks at most. Croesus merely drifted on the edges of the herds and didn't interact with anyone. He had finally accepted he wasn't likely to find his mother again and would have to focus his attention on new ventures. When he'd been here last, this place had gone by a different name. Now they called it Grim Isle. This hadn't been his home when he lived here, and Croesus wasn't sure why he cared enough to visit.
Perhaps it was because a part of him was convinced if he kept looking for Hoax, she'd turn up again. The painted hessian carried on through the unfamiliar reeds of the isle and did not announce his presence to the inhabitants. Croesus was likely to be a stranger here in more ways than one. Who would remember his father or mother for that matter?

R I D D L E Я It felt strange to finally have a land to call home, though it pleased me that my lieges had no desire to truly put a leash on me. I still planned on being useful to them and the kingdom to make it worth their while. Besides, I was a spy. Sitting idle wasn't one of my strong suits. Today was one of the few days I had decided to stay home and explore some more, stalking some of the inhabitants when I did manage to run into them. There were quite a few characters here, though I hadn't bothered to take the time to get to know any just yet.
Despite not conversing with anyone just yet, I was still able to identify most of the herd on sight, even if I only learned few names by eavesdropping. Perhaps in the fall I would take the opportunity to actually try and make new friends. There was a young, frail filly that I was interested in hearing her story, but from what I saw, she might not be ready to open up to any strangers.
I had settled into the shadows of a small grove of trees near the shoreline when my silver gaze snagged on an equine that I didn't recognize. I watched his painted frame for a moment, noting that he didn't appear to have a malicious air about him or necessarily trying to hide himself. As he came closer, I stepped out from the trees with curiosity. You're not from around here, I said simply, not necessarily friendly or suspicious. Are you lost?

Croesus Croesus hadn't been paying much attention to his surroundings when another equine stepped in front of his path. They had emerged abruptly from the tree cover. He wasn't startled by the stranger, but he did halt his movement through Grim Isle. The stranger was a buckskin with silver eyes. They addressed the fact that he wasn't from around here, and followed that with the question of if he was lost. A smirk crossed his features for a moment as he considered how to respond to this stallion. "I'm not." Croesus agreed. The words slid off his tongue far too easily.
He remained quiet a few more moments before he decided to address the question. "No. Not lost, just passing through." His pink mottled lips wove the sentence together with ease. Croesus was not bothered by the fact that he'd been discovered. Despite the fact that he was trespassing, he still belonged to the Dark alliance. Perhaps that was unwise, to have such a lack of fear. The times were far more dangerous now than they were before. Rumors and whispers of Utopia and The Underworld waging war had reached his ears.
"Is this your home?" Croesus asked casually again. His whole demanor did not portray a threat, nor did it portray any insecurity. He could fight if he needed to, but it was unlikely that this encounter would come to blows.

R I D D L E Я I was far too interested in who this stranger was to be confrontational about why he was he was here. Galdr and Kladdan had taken over recently enough that it made sense for them to have visitors. Perhaps the spotted stallion was simply that and was just as curious as I was. He halted when I interrupted his walk, and I was nearly mesmerized by the shade of his eyes, which were significantly lighter than mine. I've seen that in equines who were blind, but he didn't act that way.
He told me he wasn't lost, but his smirk made an identical one cross my lips. Why were we smirking? No idea, but it felt right. I tilted my head, even more curious to see if he would elaborate on his reasons for being here. I was in a particularly patient mood and took the moment to lean forward to kick my back hoof up in relaxation. When he finally spoke again, I wasn't surprised by his response. There was nothing wrong with passing through, even if it was a time of war. I was in the mood to play rather than interrogate, and I hoped he was too.
Is this your home? I nodded slowly, my expression still neutral and curious. For now. I'm Riddler. I tilted my head with a half smile finally appearing. If you're just passing through, I certainly hope it's not for any malicious reasons. It's too nice of a day for that nonsense. My tone was mild and supported by a light chuckle, while my gaze drifted over him. It was indeed too fine of a day for a fight and I hoped it wouldn't come to that.
