So... they had at last arrived at this Couples Retreat event that Speaking Rain had learned of and convinced Zoran they ought to participate. The area held an ambience of the sort that could easily enough be interpreted as romantic. Ideal for a retreat designed for couples to attend. And there seemed a fair few other couples who it seemed had opted to participate in the event as well. Perhaps with more knowledge of what all this entailed than Zoran himself, who admittedly had not even known of the event until Rain had convinced him they should go. He glanced sidelong at the blind mare, an affectionate smile automatically curving his lips, even as he pondered what she might be thinking at the moment. He wished that she could have seen Crystal Pools for herself; he got the feeling that she would have appreciated the beauty of it far more than he. Not that he didn't appreciate it. Just... there was so much else going on in his head, worrying about so much else, that unfortunately he was aware that he probably missed out on a lot of the joys in life as a result.
At least he had been convinced to come. The children were old enough to look after themselves -- Kheri was with them... just in case problems arose. Especially what with Aubrianna's tendency to just... fly off the handle without any provocation. Still, he could not help worrying about how they might be doing right now. Should they really be here right now? What if...
But then his gaze landed back on Rain and he had to suppress a laugh at himself. How often did she have to scold him for worrying too much? And here he was, on an occasion when they should have just been enjoying time spent together, worrying... about all the things he could not control. Just as he always did.
Leaning to brush his muzzle against her ear, he could not help murmuring with some amusement, 'I wonder sometimes why you put up with me.' He had no doubt she could have guessed even before he said anything what his mind had been busy doing. Character;; Zoran Tagged;; fleabittengray w/Speaking Rain Notes;; <3 Timeline;; 12 years old

x SPEAKING RAIN Life had done it's best to kick her while she was down and keep her from rising about the hardships, but Rain had persevered and ended up with a much brighter, happier future. She had Zoran and their children, and his daughter, who she felt very motherly toward, and Kherington's child as well. She had a great family and Jade Mire was a lovely place to live. She may not be able to see it's beauty, but she had other ways of appreciating the world around her. Just like now, walking through Crystal Pools at Zoran's side, knowing that he would guide her through the pools. She could feel the warmth in the air, a blessing in the late wintery season when warm weather was not always around. She could hear other couples around them, chatting amongst themselves. It was a very serene place to be tonight and she was very much looking forward to spending time away from everyone else and just enjoy time alone, more or less, with Zoran. They walked close enough that they were touching, and she could sense the tension within him. She figured he was probably worrying about everything: the kids back home, something bad happening while they were here, or possibly even her falling into one of the pools. Who knew with him. He was a worrier, but she loved him despite his anxieties. She could understand why he would be anxious. Life was very anxiety inducing, after all. She felt him moving and then, moments later, his muzzle brushed against one of her ears and she chuckled softly, content in their closeness. 'I wonder sometimes why you put up with me.' Again, the painted mare laughed, nudging at Zoran's shoulder gently, affectionately. "Because I love you," she said simply, touching her muzzle along his shoulder, to his neck, and eventually to his cheek to nuzzle against it. "You better not spend all this time worrying yourself silly!" she teased, but there was no anger in her voice, only amusement and love. Indi w/ Zoran 339 | ProfileThey're cute! 12 years 2 months

When was the last time they had taken the opportunity to retreat from duties and the goings-on of the world in order to just spend some time together? Come to think of it, Zoran was not sure they ever really had. Well, aside from when the quadruplets had been conceived, but aside from that... it seemed that their time was caught up in the threads of other lives. Mostly their children, of course. And Kherington and her son. Thankfully, Speaking Rain had taken well to a maternal relationship with Kheri, whose own mother had died bringing her into the world. A pang of guilt was always associated with the memory, though he had never spoken of it. His daughter had still known about how her mother died in spite of his silence on the matter and he was grateful that Rain had been ready and willing to help the girl through the difficult journey to motherhood. Especially when she had feared sharing her mother's fate. She and Kael'thas both had come through fine and Zoran knew it was thanks mostly to the wonderful woman he now accompanied, carefully navigating through Crystal Pools.
Also... he would never stop being grateful that the reunion with Rain had taken a very different path than had been the case with Refina.
As anxiety-inducing as the world could be, in general, he wondered if that particular reunion was why he felt so specifically worried all the time about all the things that could go wrong. Worst-case scenarios. Of course, all the losses and turmoil early on in life certainly would not help there. He was just grateful to have such a wise and wonderful mate as Rain to keep him grounded. Albeit feeling simultaneously guilty for it, especially given all she had endured and suffered in life. He hoped that, despite his tendency towards worry all the time, Rain could still find solace with him.
Her soft chuckle pulled his lips into a smile, though his eyes closed briefly at the affectionate nudge to his shoulder, enjoying her touch, their closeness, this opportunity to spend with her. "Because I love you," came her simple answer, more gentle touches against his shoulder and along his nape following until she had nuzzled his cheek. "You better not spend all this time worrying yourself silly!" There was such affectionate amusement in her tone as she teased him and he laughed. She knew him well.
Nuzzling her cheek in turn, he answered warmly, 'I love you too. And I will do my utmost not to spend all this time worrying myself silly.' Glancing around them at the surrounding terrain of Crystal Pools, he then queried, 'To that end... any thoughts on how specifically we shall spend our time?' x SPEAKING RAIN Rain did not blame Zoran for all that had happened to her upon them being separated all those years ago. She did not blame him for her enslavement, for being forced to carry two foals for those that had kept her captive - two different men! She had no idea where Beauty and Scotty were these days, if they were even still alive, but she hoped that wherever they may be that they were happy. That was all she wished on anyone: happiness. It was all anyone could hope for, to find joy in the simple things in life. Rain now had four more kids to raise and look after, as well as Kherington and her son. Life was good and she felt no grudge toward Zoran. How could he have known where she was, or what she was going through? Had he known she was sure he would have come looking for her, come rescuing her, and that was enough. It had always been enough, to know that she was cared for by the man she had grown to love. She had not planned on taking Zoran on as a mate, but one thing led to another and feelings grew and thus, here they were, at a couple's retreat. She had to chuckle slightly, because it did indeed seem a bit chaotic, the way their lives intertwined with one another, but honestly the blind mare would not have it any other way. Zoran returned the gentle and affectionate nuzzle to her cheek and she hummed happily, bumping her hip gently against him with a grin. 'I love you too. And I will do my utmost not to spend all this time worrying myself silly.' There was a pause, and Rain could imagine the brute looking around then, though she knew not what he looked like, or what a horse looked like in general, she could still imagine him looking around. Looking for danger, probably. Always on the lookout. Though she did not blame him, really, considering this event was happening in the midst of a war. 'To that end... any thoughts on how specifically we shall spend our time?' The mare shrugged, feeling the difference in terrain (even slightly) as they approached a nearby pool. She turned away from Zoran then, carefully stepping toward the water's edge, inching her way toward the pool and then lowering her muzzle toward it, testing the surface of the water. She stood there a moment, lipping lightly at the water, and then she lifted her head and turned in Zoran's general direction. A playful smile appeared on the mare's face and, with a hoot of laughter, she launched herself forward into the large pool of water. She could imagine Zoran would be alarmed at the sudden launch into the water, especially when she could not see, but Rain did so like to keep him on his toes sometimes. She disappeared briefly, mostly submerged in the water as it sloshed and splashed around her, until her head breached the surface and she swam toward the edge of the pool, giggling and shaking her head dramatically - hopefully, flinging water in Zoran's direction.
