Gavin had had enough. He was threw with being screwed with by this war and done with others coming into his land and either setting it on fire or stealing his herd members. When Aelin had suddenly disappeared one day and her scent trail led straight to the Dark Kingdom and the Howling Keep, it had taken Gavin a lot of restraint to not go marching in right then and there to take her back. He’d had to remember that he had duties to Eacarrah as its herd lead and the lands were actively at war. He’d recognized the scent trail that had accompanied Aelin – he’d met this stallion before, had fought with him. Selven, the Dark King. To Gavin, he was insane and impossible to be reasoned with, but it was on him to try. What such a Dark individual and supporter of the Underworld would do to Aelin…he couldn’t begin to imagine it. He loved Aelin, though he’d only just started telling her that. He wouldn’t let that creature Selven have her.
But instead of summoning his herd members and going right to war with the Dark King – even more at war than they already were, given the war between Utopia and the Underworld that they each fought in – Gavin had sought out the help of the Vigilum. He was trying the diplomatic solution, for once. He knew his way to Mount Vigilum, having stumbled there once in his youth, and it was with a shaky confidence that he’d ascended the mount and sought the aid of an older, battle-scarred stallion named Duramus. Duramus had seemed understanding and welcoming of Gavin’s approach of diplomacy instead of physical violence, at least for now and if Gavin was understanding what seemed like approval in the bay draft mix’s tone. Gavin just hoped it would work. His violet eyes were alight with anxiety as he and Duramus approached the boundaries of the Howling Keep and casually crossed them.
Duramus immediately halted, showing a respect for the Dark territory’s boundaries that Gavin simply couldn’t mirror given how frequently his own herd’s boundaries had been violated. He turned to Gavin, as though sending reassurance through his gaze, and then called out to hail to a Howling Keep guard. One approached, to whom Duramus explained their purpose and asked for an audience both with King Selven and his prisoner, Aelin. Gavin wordlessly awaited the guard’s response, almost trembling with nervousness and anticipation.

DURAMUS Duramus had been wondering when the denizens of Wild Equines would pull the Vigilum further into the war. So far, he’d spent his fair shame of time healing, providing counseling, and lightly dancing on the side of complete neutrality even in the face of truly unjust activities. Today, though, he had a different purpose. The young herd lead of Eacarrah, Gavin, had approached him this morning and confessed to a troubling situation. The Dark King had stolen Gavin’s beta, and Gavin was concerned about how to get her back in a peaceful manner. Duramus had picked up on a lot of emotional turmoil in the young stallion and imagined that the war was taking a toll on him. He knew Eacarrah had been attacked by the Helkaer, and it seemed like Gavin’s troubles were nowhere near an end. Once Gavin had approached asking for diplomacy, though, Duramus knew he would get involved. Dur was never a fan of physical violence, preferring political means to an end, and Gavin was keen on that approach too. It was without hesitation that Duramus had listened and agreed to help.
The tall bay draft mix’s stride remained sure and confident as he crossed into the Howling Keep, his Vigilum brand readily displayed. His gray eyes swept his surroundings, searching for guards. He picked up on an immediate spike in tension within Gavin’s frame – the young stallion seemed barely able to stand still even as Duramus decisively halted and called to whichever guard was closest to their immediate location. Duramus turned a comforting gaze on Gavin, hoping to calm him, as a guard approached with sprightly step and serious face in their direction. Baring his Vigilum brand, Duramus neighed I am Duramus of the Vigilum. This is Gavin, lead of Eacarrah. We seek an immediate audience with King Selven and his prisoner, Aelin. Dur’s words were sure and confident, as they needed to be when dealing with those of the Dark alliance. They preyed upon weakness like flies in the summer.
Duramus wondered how Selven would react to Gavin’s attempt at diplomacy. The purpose of this visit was really two-fold in purpose: act as a negotiator for Aelin’s release, and check up on Aelin’s health. Gavin had expressed in no uncertain terms that he felt Selven was crazy and that he didn’t want to imagine what Selven could be doing to her. Duramus hoped he’d be able to help if Aelin was injured even if the diplomatic negotiations failed.
notes// All good to go for Aelin and Selven!

"Speech." The bastard king felt rejuvenated to a degree, there was a noticeable spring in his step and a playful smile upon his face. Just mere days ago, he had taken his trophy, Aelin along with his right hand, Damocles. The pleasurable moments were quite the thrill for himself. The power of feeling Aelin's will crumble beneath his weight, the sweet taste that was her building hate and the pure disdain that was in her eyes when Damocles also took his turn to mount her was sheer bliss to the bastard king. However, the cruel beast merely let her stew in their juices for awhile, keeping her only to ensure she did no witch craft or herbal remedies to counteract what Selven was certain to be a taken pregnancy. What could the bastard say... there was far to much of their... potency... to let it go to waste. On the third day after the deal had been consummated, with the sun settled high within the sky, the bastard king approached Aelin's cell. As much as his darling little toy complained, he let her stay comfortably within the cells. Openings in the stone walls let in bright light and fresh air, old rugs and moss covered the floor providing her cushion, and he had made it a point to order some of the women around to ensure she had fresh pickings to sustain herself. Yet, his rose still was unsatisfied. Selven shrugged internally at the thought as he rounded a corner to see his bronze trophy standing quietly. Her beautiful face was curled in a somber way. Selven's lip twisted into a cruel smile at seeing her look so dejected, his cold eyes peering at her through a tilted crown and rusty metal bars. "I am a beast of my word, my rose. Come, let us get you home." Selven's gentle words were oddly soft, and warm. A total contrast to his nefarious actions and devious coercion of the young maiden. He motioned to the guard nearby to fetch her from the cell, the slow whining creak of the bars a satisfying reminder to the king of what he had claimed.
Selven did not speak to his rose as they walked. Damocles, the giant bastard of a hand, had slowly emerged from whatever space he was hiding to join him. Damocles would be escorting Aelin all the way to Gavin's land, for Selven figured if he showed up himself with the potent stench of his seed lodged inside of his own little pet, well... the bastard king was not foolish enough to do that per say. However, it seemed today the golden boy would grow some balls as another guard approached them at a surprisingly quick rate of speed. "My king, a vigilum and a stallion by the nae of Gavin request you and... her." Selven could not stop the wild gleam that shone in his eyes as his crown cocked back and a loud booming laugh left his throat. "Oh that is precious!" Selven's heavy skull swung around to Aelin, his bright enamels bared in a cruelly amused smile. "Oh your golden boy.. he never fails to amuse me."
Within minuets the view of the anxious Gavin and the fucking vigilum came into view. A sickening sneer curled the dark kings lips in a grin so malicious and mocking he couldn't stop the warm boisterous laugh that rattled his belly. "You silly boy! Always a day late and an apple short!" Selven's laughter grew in haughtiness. "And you! You bring a fucking vigilum to my doorstep? This is surely low, even for you little golden boy." Selven's hearty laughter slowly died down as his crown shook lightly. "I knew you to be a mere child trapped in the body of a weakling, but picking another bastard such as this to comfort you in your time of need? How fucking comical!" Selven's toothy grin was wide, his massive crown tilting as his body still shook from his giggles. "Aelin, my sweet rose, please... get the boy before our friend here does. I'd hate to see your lover crushed before his balls drop." Selven said a slight flick of his nose pointed in the direction of the 20.1 hand behemoth that stood slightly off to the side. Damocles had a pension for violence... and Selven sure did enjoy watching the beast work. Selven gave a wink to Gavin then, his toothy grin softening before speaking one last time. "We were just on our way to give Aelin back to you, boy. I will say however, I'm quite sure she really enjoyed her soft, pleasurable stay with us." A deviously handsome smile curled the corner of his lips now, as the dark king took the smallest step to the side. His eyes never leaving that of the vigilum bastard, or the golden boy.

As long as the sun rises upon me and my crown... you have my promise. No one will take them from you. The words echoed in the mare's mind the longer she stood in the Keep. While she may have... earned her and Gavin's freedom from the Dark King's grasp, the deal's aftermath left her exhausted, angry, and full of despair. Would Gavin understand? Would he forgive her? Would he forgive the possible children that may arise from the situation? Would he be able to look at her the same way? The neverending questions haunted her thoughts as the days seemed to drag on. How long would he keep her here before he fulfilled the other part of the deal - letting her go home? I am a beast of my word, my rose. Come, let us get you home. Two toned eyes shifted towards the voice, almost surprised to see Selven standing outside her cell. She had ignored all the fancy things he continuously surrounded her with, fearing that if she showed any satisfaction, he would use it as an excuse to keep her here forever. And yet, he was actually going to take her home? Was the nightmare over? She numbly watched the guards open her cell and walk quietly beside the king, though she nearly jumped out of her skin at Damocles's appearance. When a guard approached the group and informed them of Gavin's appearance, Aelin thought she was hallucinating. He didn't need to come here and put himself in danger. And would Selven allow her to explain herself without twisting things around? By the time the painted stallion came into view, Aelin's heart was pounding. It seemed she was going to have an audience listen to her confession instead of a private conversation between the two. So be it. While Selven began laughing, the mare tried to meet those violet eyes. Her emotions were clearly displayed - pain, confusion, and desperation to get away. Aelin, my sweet rose, please... get the boy before our friend here does. I'd hate to see your lover crushed before his balls drop. The bronze fem's ears finally swiveled back and she glared at the black and white beast. Oh, what she wouldn't give for the ability to slay him here. Instead, she ignored the rest of his grandiose performance and looked back to Gavin and the unfamiliar stallion beside him. "Enjoyed" my stay is quite a stretch. But it should be my last. She was too afraid to move away from the king and his hand, though she fought the urge to run. We made a deal. We are free from his games. For good. That's what matters the most.SpeechTAG Sunfrost Fallen Gavin, Duramus, Selven! WORDS 400+ TIMELINE Spring, a few days after the deal Sad girl hour
