Vigilum Auditions

Duramus seeks two Vigilum to stand beside him in this time of war. Are you ready?

• You MUST be active. You should be able to post at least once every 15 days or your position will be forfeited. By auditioning for a canon position, you are agreeing to the canon activity rules set by the site. Please read the Canon Activity Tracker thread for more specific information.
  
  
• Your character can be of any alliance or Unallianced in order to audition.
  
  
• You cannot audition if you already play two canon characters. Canon characters include Helkaer, Vigilum, Versai, Royals, and Afterlife.
  
  
• You should be able to post at least 400+ words with your canon consistently.
  
  
• No WIP posts, please. All WIP posts will be deleted.
  
  
• Both old and newer members (accounts less than three months old) are welcome to audition.

Setting the Scene:
Wild Equines is at war, and thus far the Vigilum have been able to do little more than heal those who come their way as a result of it. For most of the war, only Duramus and Cassian have represented the Vigilum. Now, Duramus stands alone. With Cassian's fate unknown, he has put out an urgent call for two others to join him in urging peace between both sides of the war, providing shelter for those seeking one, and provide both physical and mental healing to all those who need it. As your character approaches Duramus and expresses interest in becoming Vigilum, please have them answer the following questions: What are your skills in physical and mental healing and diplomacy? How will you help restore peace to Wild Equines? What motivates you to try and stop this war?

Username: illegal
Activity Level: Fairly low the past couple months, hoping to increase that now that my life is balancing out.

Character: Bishop
Age: 6 years
Description: Bishop can be painfully shy, but opens up when she warms up to others. Despite her traumatic childhood, she has been trying to break out of her shell and learn more about the world. While she fears males, she tries to keep an open mind before jumping to conclusions in meetings. Being blind leads her to trust her instincts and her wolf companion. She takes pleasure in learning new things and has grown to like meeting new people.

Reasons for Auditioning: She currently lives with the Versai, with the intent of becoming an ambassador of sorts. She has reached out to learn more about the Vigilum and has also attended a coronation - which was a step out of her comfort zone. She hasn’t been a part of much larger plots on site, which I am hoping to change with her having a larger role. I think her natural desire to nurture, being soft-spoken, and difficulty in coming across as a threat would make her a good fit for the Vigilum. Being blind, I believe this could allow her to become more proficient with herbs and healing and make her focus more on listening to what others have to say and their concerns.

Ideas for the Vigilum:
-Better relations with the Royals and leads: Even without the war, it is important to maintain relationships with the leaders of each alliance. This can be useful if the Vigilum are called for any peace-keeping activities. This would mean periodic visits, open and frank conversations, and making it known that the Vigilum are available for anything the alliances may need. Getting to know the Royals and leads can help make it easier if they are needed to broker any peace between the alliances. They would still be neutral and unbiased but have a better understanding of how others’ minds work and their individual priorities.
-Internships: The Vigilum are well known for having talents in healing abilities and peacekeeping. To help foster a positive relationship, it would be helpful to have equines from every alliance come and stay with the Vigilum to learn more about basic healing, diplomacy, and possibly even mental healing. The Royals or leads could decide who to send, but the doors would always be open for anyone who takes the initiative to learn. These interns would also be able to help the Vigilum themselves by providing information on their local flora, fauna, and herbs. They would be able to work with the Vigilum members to determine uses and things to avoid.

Audition:

When the inky black fem had heard the call go out, she couldn't help feeling apprehensive. Her time with the Versai had been peaceful until recently, when the Underworld decided to curse their lands. It hadn't taken long before she had fallen ill, reigniting the desire for safety that she tirelessly sought. Bishop knew that Luna had nothing to do with the sickness or the continued effects, but the mare did continue to stray further and further from home. Before her life had turned upside down again, she had met with a member of the Vigilum purely out of curiosity. After disaster had struck, she had debated returning. She was doubtful that the stallion could reverse the curse, but perhaps he could ease some of their pain.

That idea was shut down when she was told the Vigilum were down to one member and seeking assistance. Bishop could imagine that they were kept busy during this war and could only imagine the burden that the remaining member felt. She felt helpless as well. While she listened to her faithful companion wheeze and cry out in her sleep, Bishop thought about how she could help. Cassian had told her about how the group were peacekeepers and healers. They prioritized the safety of others and searched for peaceful resolutions. Perhaps that was what she could do for them - help maintain peace. Given that the war has clearly escalated, perhaps she could finally make a difference.

By the time the sun had rose, the dark mare had made up her mind. She knew the trek to Mount Vigilum, as did Sonya. Though the pair struggled together on their walk, they did feel more relaxed the further they were from Amaravati. That feeling was chased away by a stab of guilt. Luna would understand, right? It was too late to worry about that as the scents around her grew familiar. Bishop found the path again, pushing herself despite her aching body.

She let out a nervous breath as the scent of someone unfamiliar reached her nares. The mare stopped, turning her blind gaze in the general direction, savoring the feeling of the wolf at her hocks. I am Bishop, and I have come to answer your call for new members of the Vigilum. Her words were more confident than she felt, feeling a pang of sadness that Cassian wasn't the one who stood in front of her. I don't have much experience with physical healing, but I can learn. I had to learn to take care of myself at a young age, so I am familiar with the basics. Despite my lack of sight, my nose and sense of taste are strong. Sonya can also help me, she gestured to the wolf before continuing. I have been learning more about the politics of these lands and feel that I can be an asset in diplomacy and peaceful discussions. Peace and safety are my priorities. Now that I have seen how a lack of those two things can affect my fellow herd members, I want to be a part of stopping this war and healing these lands. I cannot stand by while they suffer - while anyone suffers. This war needs to stop before innocents are harmed any further. We can help them heal, and stage some sort of peace conference. This war should only be within the Afterlife, and I believe the mortals coming together will be the only way we can save them. They need to want the peace. I believe we can work together to help them see that they can be the key to end all of this fighting. She paused, surprised at herself. If you will have me, I want to learn from you and work beside you.

Due to lack of interest, we are awarding one Vigilium position to • illɘgal ◦ with Bishop. Auditions for the final position will remain open indefinitely, unless two members audition then we will set a date for finalization.
