First Character
Wild Equines only requires one account, so as soon as your account is created, you are ready to get started! To create your first character, you will need to fill out the character application and post it in the Take a Breath board. Please refer to the characters & breeding page for character guidelines. New members also have the option of adopting out a currently existing character from the Adoption board. Please include a roleplay sample (200+ words) in the adoption, as one is required of all first characters.

New members are gifted 15,000 points and a store item for use only on their first character - whether created or adopted. This item must be from the store's Tier 1 category and be character apperance related. It covers things such as hair additions, odd markings, color changing eyes, etc. If you're unsure if an item is appearance related, please ask a staff member.

In order to use the store, please read the first post in the Wild Equines Store. Copy the form found there into a new thread and fill it out with the item/character information. Each item has a description on what it can do inside the store thread. Once the item is posted, a staff member will accept it and you may use it.

Once your character has been accepted, you may begin roleplaying them!

What Happens Next
There are many things to do both OOC and IC on the site. We run seasonal events, contests and sales all year round with various prizes. The site is member driven, so your character's fate is left for you to decide!

If you just want to hang out OOC, you can check out the Entertainment board, Plot & RP Search or Character Development. We typically have some games running in the Games & Events board that you can join in. If you have any questions, they can be asked in our Ask the Staff. Feel free to hop into our Discord to chat too!

If you've had your character accepted, the IC boards are all yours! You may want to check out the variety of Freelands, maybe encounter the dead in Eden, or pop into any of the herdlands - including that of the fearsome Versai and Helkaer. Interlude is also open to RP your own characters together or explore an AU thread.

500 Points: Awarded for every post on site
Canon Assignments: Versai/Helkaer can see their leaders for point rewards

IC Events: They occur throughout the year and include races, prompts, etc. Sometimes, they give an ultra rare prize that can't be purchased!

Of the Month Awards - Alternate monthly, main prize is 25k points or tier 1 item
Activity OTMs: Points are awarded by post counts made over the last 2 months
Nominated OTMs: Members may nominate each other and then vote for a winner

Site Events and Celebrations
Scavenger Hunts: Pixels will be posted around the site, each one found gets a reward
Raffles: During events, there may be a raffle for points, prizes, or art
Crosswords/Wordsearches: Every so often, one will be posted with various prizes/point rewards
Lotteries: Ticket cost is usually 1k points, but the points/item prizes are worth much more
Store Sales: Site holidays come with sales of over 50% off and a prize box for those who buy
Birthday Celebration: Every year for WE's Birthday, we run a celebration with many events, prizes and raffles
Thirty-One Days: Each December, a daily riddle is posted with prizes/points for a reward

Other Methods
Joining: Each member receives 15k points when creating their first character
New Member Referral: For each member who credits you in their first character app, you receive 20k points
Afterlife Characters: Each new Afterlife horse created via join application earns a 20k point reward
Prize Trade-In: Most prizes won on site can be traded in at the store for 75% of their worth in points

What is Wild Equines?

Wild Equines is a semi-realistic wild horse RPG. This means that there are no powers or unnatural coat colors on this site. However, we are semi-realistic in the fact that we have the Afterlife section, which contains immortal horses possessing wings/horns/other animal tails/etc., and certain store items that give your characters cool things like odd markings or color changing eyes. There are no humans on Wild Equines, but they may exist in characters' histories from outside the borders. The details about the land's origins can be read about in the History page.

Wild Equines was founded on May 9th of 2007 by Princess Gemini. The first version was up from 2007 to 2009. In 2009, the site migrated to the second version, Wild Equines v2. On December 25th of 2011, Wild Equines v3 was created. The site is currently run by Aliyaah.

What is muse?

Muse is a reference to a writer's ability to write. When people say they have 'low muse' they mean that they don't have really any creativity for a post, and opposite when they say they have 'high muse'.

What is stealing?

Stealing is when a horse attempts to take another horse from its family or home. Stealing is done OOC using the Stealing board. Steals are posted as riddles that contain clues about the horse that is being targeted. Hints can be anything about the character - eye color, coat color, personality traits, history, etc. Other members will post blocks, trying to guess the horse. If the steal is blocked, the stealer will have to make another attempt or challenge for the horse outright. If the steal goes through, the stolen horse must be threaded with the one who stole them for at least two posts from each roleplayer. After this thread requirement is completed, someone may challenge for the stolen horse back. Stealing is a very useful tool for drama, plots, and the like.

What is powerplaying?

Powerplaying is when you are roleplaying your character with another person and you begin to control that person's character without their prior permission. Example: Say you play a horse named Jay and you are playing with a person whose horse is named Lee. While writing you say: Jay reached out and knocked Lee to the ground, biting him harshly. That is power playing because Lee's player did not give permission for you to say that Lee was knocked to the ground and bitten.

What is god moding?

God moding is when you play your character like they are invincible. Example: When your character is fighting with someone else and your character miraculously dodges all the blows or is not damaged by the blows, that is considered 'making your horse like a god.'

What is metagaming?

Metagaming refers to when your character possesses knowledge that they shouldn't have. Your character having knowledge of a conversation that took place between two characters and not being present themselves, or them knowing the name of a horse they have never met before are two examples of metagaming. Some roleplayers are fine with this, some roleplayers require prior discussion, and some roleplayers do not allow it at all. Please make sure you are on the same page with this when roleplaying with another person!
