the versai

The Versai are a Sisterhood who dedicate themselves to purging the world of evil. They may utilize clever tactics and brute force to achieve their goals, despite their Light alliance.

Gift of Water
The Versai have been granted the gift of water by the River Righteousness. They are the only living equines who possess this power. Upon joining the Versai, the equine joining must perform a ritual where they are branded and granted the power in the presence of the pools that are the source. This brand ties them to the power and will disappear if they leave the group. Therefore also removing their ability to utilize the water. In order to utilize the power, the individual must direct their thoughts towards the pool of Righteousness to begin the rains. The Versai may choose when the downpour of water starts, but afterwards, they have no control of it.

The severity of damage caused by the power of water will be determined by a random number generated from 1 to 10 - 1 being "the water evaporates/disappears immediately" and 10 being "complete destruction." Upon calling the power of water, the Versai member will tag a staff member, who will draw this number to determine the damage. Herds may further reduce this damage by creating an alliance with Utopia or The Underworld, in which case the number will be from 1 to 5 so the worst damage is reduced to "moderate." In order to create an alliance that adjusts the rolls, herds must complete an IC thread with either The Underworld or Utopia. When a roll is made, the herd must post a link to the already completed thread in order to benefit from the reduced roll. These alliances do not transfer if the herd comes under new leadership. The Versai must also have a completed IC thread discussing alliances with Utopia or The Underworld in order to gain this ability.

Another method to reduce damage for herds attacked with this gift is to ask The Underworld or Utopia for help once it has happened. To do this, a herd member must have an IC thread with a member of Utopia/The Underworld asking for help with the damage being done to their herd. This may help reduce the total damage done, but not completely spare the herd.

Stealing & Taxing
The Versai may use a variety of methods to aid their cause, including stealing and taxing. The Versai receive one free automatic steal every three months and will use it to their advantage any way they can.

The Versai also have the power to put lands in the allianced kingdoms under a tax, mostly targeting dark or those in Helkaer possession. To accomplish this, they will challenge the herd leader to a battle. Should they win, they may do whatever they wish for the land. They may ask for herd members, children, assistance in challenges, information, or give the land to a new owner. In order to remove the tax, one must challenge the Versai to a battle and win. The land may be released from the tax whenever the Versai member wishes.

Animal Companions
Once settled into the Highlands, the Versai have allied with the various moose who lived there. These moose may perform patrols or accompany the Versai on raids.

Assignments
The Versai may give assignments to their members by the leader or clients. The more assignments that are completed, the more prestige a member receives along with the potential to move up in the ranks. Completing assignments will also earn WE points. However, if a Versai member fails to complete an assignment, it is deemed a punishable crime. If the member cannot complete the assignment, they are expected to attempt another time or have another member complete it for them. Failure to do so will result in exile or death. The other Versai members will be responsible for punishing those who failed their duties.

Expectations
Secrecy and Loyalty. All members of the Versai must protect their name and identity. Each member will use an alias and only use their real name in the presence of another Versai or herd member. It is also expected that each Versai remain loyal. If a member performs an act of treason, they are to be punished. If a herd member does, it is up to the Versai herd owner to punish them.

Cleansing Ceremonies. A well kept secret of the Versai is the ceremony they use to cleanse neutral or dark equines. The purpose is to convert them to the Light alliance, but the process is long and arduous. It is expected for Versai members to learn how to conduct the ceremony and to participate.

Children and Herds. In addition to the strict orders of secrecy and purity, the herds are also expected to uphold this. All children will be brought before a council at the age of two. If they are deemed worthy, they will be given a mark of purity. If they fail, the child will be banished from the Highlands. Furthermore, herd members are expected to maintain secrecy and not fraternize with the enemy. If they are found to be engaging in any behavior that threads the Versai, the herd members will face punishment by the Versai who owns the herd. The other Versai will ensure that each member keeps their herds under control.

Challenging the High Priestess
If a Versai member feels that the High Priestess is not keeping up with their duties, then they may challenge the High Priestess for their position. However, there must be a valid reason for this. Reasons include: lack of activity, lack of participation in Versai events, lack of opportunity, or betrayal of the Versai. This is not a battle challenge and will be put up to a vote between the roleplayers of the Versai.

The process goes as follows: the challenge is made to the High Priestess by one of the Versai. The group is called OOC to make a vote on whether they think a challenge for leadership of the group is justified. The group and the High Priestess have one week to reply to this challenge.

If the leader of the group does not respond in this time, the result of the challenge will be decided based on the vote of the group - either the challenge is justified and the position of power can be changed, or the challenge is not justified, and the challenge is denied.

If the leader of the group does respond to the challenge - they will see the essential "accusations" being made. Again, what happens here is based on the vote of the group. If the challenge is not justified, then the position of power is not challenged for. If the challenge is deemed justified, then the leader will be put on trial where they have to prove their worth as a leader.

If the group itself is not capable of managing the matter, then voting on whether or not the challenge is justifiable will go to the admins of the site.

There is no chance that this position can be awarded automatically, such as people failing to respond and the challenger winning by default. It has to go to a vote, preferably done by the group members themselves, but otherwise done by the admins.
