lands

Land Dynamics
Wild Equines consists of several different kingdoms:

Land of the Free: Or the Freelands as they're colloquially called. These territories are governed by no one. Many equines call these places home and migrate from land to land. There are specific territories designated for Light, Neutral, and Dark hangouts as well as places for foals, mothers, and those who are looking for herds. Mount Vigilum - home to the Vigilum group - is also located here. Among the Lands of the Free, there is also Interlude, the Battlefield, and Tulor Woods.

The Allianced Kingdoms: These consist of the Light, Neutral, and Dark Kingdoms. Each of them is governed by a pair of Royals with the addition of four main land territories. Rain Forest Beach is home to the Light Royals, Tremala Woods is home to the Neutral Royals, and Lachlan Breck is home to the Dark Royals.

The Highlands: Home to the Versai Sisterhood, these lands are separated from the allianced kingdoms by Mersa, a gathering of rocks that are guarded day and night.

The Outlands: Separated from the allianced kingdoms by the vast Caerali Desert, the Outlands are home to the Helkaer Brotherhood.

The Afterlife: Consisting of Asphodel, Utopia, and the Underworld, the Afterlife is the home of all those who have died. Mortals may visit the denizens of the Afterlife through Eden, where all are welcomed and all ailments are cured, or via Videnie, where they may request to become a Seer.

Land Ownership
Each member may have up to two herds in the Alliance Kingdoms, but only one per alliance (these restrictions exclude canon lands). Canon lands may not be challenged for and are rewarded when the roleplayer is granted the canon position.

When making land descriptions, members should consult the Land Description Guide.

Upon receiving a herd land, you must post the stats of the land in the Herd Directory board using the form provided. This board provides the member statistics for every herd on Wild Equines and is very important for keeping track of steals.

stealing

Stealing Defined
Stealing on Wild Equines is when a character attempts to take another character from their family or home. Stealing is done OOC through the Stealing board where the roleplayer attempting to make a steal posts a riddle about the character they are targeting. When a steal is successful, the understanding is that the stealer has come and taken the stolen away. This part does not have to be done IC, as the thread can begin after the stolen has technically been taken away. The riddles made for steals are solely for OOC uses to see whether or not the steal is successful, and does not need to be mentioned IC.

Horses That Can Be Stolen
Any horse can be stolen so long as they have a home and have an eligible herd member to block them. You can check characters and their official homes in the Herd Directory board. Mortal horses may steal other mortal horses and Utopian and Underworld horses may steal each other, or the souls of the living. Horses in Asphodel may not be stolen. If a player has posted away, they may also specify that they are not accepting steals at that time.

Making A Steal
Any horse can make a steal provided they are at least two years of age and live in a herd. When posting a steal, the Stealing Form must be used. Steals will start at the date and time posted and will end three days later at this exact time. Steals consist of a riddle made about the character they are attempting to steal. These riddles will include at least four hints about this character. Steals are required to state the character's gender and age - stallion, mare, colt, or filly - and this does not count toward the four hints. Hints must be written in the riddle part of the steal (post area, not thread title) and only two of these hints can be number hints.

Blocking A Steal
Characters must be at least two years of age in order to block another character. Only lead horses, betas, or immediate family can block. When posting a block, you are only allowed to block three characters per horse. You may purchase additional blocks for your character in the store.

You must include the relation your horse has to the character and a reason why you are blocking the character. You may block your own characters so long as they have the proper connection as defined below:

» Leads and Betas may block anyone in the herd
» Mates may block one another
» A parent or guardian may block their child so long as they are under the age of two
» Herd members may only block their lead if there is no one else available to (no mate, other lead, or Beta)

Successful Steals
If your steal is successful, you are required to post who you stole, who you stole them from, and the hints that lead to this character. You are required to post both the character's names and the player's names. You are allowed a total of three successful steals per week.

When a steal is successful, the stolen must post a thread within 15 days, and the stealer must respond within 15 days. Then, both the stealer and the stolen must continue the thread, posting within 15 days of each other's responses. If the stealer and/or the stolen need an extension, we allow a maximum of 15 extra days, so 30 days in total. You can ask the other roleplayer involved for an extension, or an admin.

If the stealer does not post, the stolen goes free. If the stolen does not post, they cannot be stolen or challenged for until they do. There must be three posts each in this thread before the stolen can be stolen again or challenged for. This does not apply to automatic steals, they can be challenged for immediately.

Stealing Immunities
If a steal is successful, the herd that was stolen from is immune from steals for two weeks. If a steal was successfully blocked, the targeted character may not be challenged for by the individual who made the steal for one week. These immunities will be listed in the Steal Immunity thread.

You may purchase immunities for your character(s) or herds by purchasing the appropriate store items.

battling

Battles Defined
Battles are usually fought over lands or a character although other things can also be fought over (i.e. child custody, bragging rights etc.). Battles on Wild Equines consist of a set amount of hits and dodges and a time limit to reply. Hits, dodges, time limits, and extensions are all decided upon between the two competitors. The time to reply begins from the exact time the post was made. An example would be: Two hits, one dodge, three days to reply. Roleplayer #1 posted on Jan 13th at 3:45pm (GMT-7), Roleplayer #2 has to post before Jan 16th at 3:45pm (GMT-7).

Starting A Battle
Horses must be at least two years old to participate in battles. They can be of any rank, alliance, or gender. To challenge for either a land or a character, your character must approach the current owner of the land or the character involved IC to discuss the terms of the challenge. The character who is being challenged has three days to respond to the challenge, or they forfeit and the challenger automatically wins.

If a horse has been stolen, they may be challenged for after the required thread (mentioned above in stealing) has been completed without a separate, IC challenge thread. The challenger may post directly into the stealing thread. If it was an automatic steal, challenges may be made immediately in the steal itself.

Land challenges may only be accepted by the Leads and the Betas. If neither are available (i.e. they have both posted away), then a regular herd member or an ally may step up to accept the challenge.

By owning a mainland, you are accepting the possibility that you will be challenged for the land. You may not refuse a challenge unless you have an outstanding reason to not complete the challenge, or the challenger is willing to plot or compromise.

Any character involved in a challenge for another character may accept the challenge. This includes, mates, friends, family, allies, etc.

There is a two week period after a battle ends in which the winner cannot be challenged again - this includes both challenges for lands and horses.

Once you have made your post in a battle, any edits must be done before your opponent posts in response.

The Judging Process
When the battle has ended, one of the competitors must make a note of this. A staff member will then step forward as a tally person.

The tally person is not a judge, but is responsible for finding judges, obtaining the scores, and posting the results in a timely manner. They will keep the competitors updated on what stage they are at in the judging process using the form provided and will update it as the process progresses.

The tally person will contact three other members or staff from the judging list to judge the battle. The judges will remain anonymous - only the tally person will know who they are. Judges should take no more than three days to complete their judging. If a judge takes longer than three days, it is up to the tally person to find a replacement judge.

The judges will judge the battle by using the form provided. Each section will provide an area for points docked and comments on why. Judges must always have a reason for docking points. Please view the judging form explained in detail here.

Once all three judges have completed the forms, the tally person will tally up the scores and post the results to the battle.

Afterlife Battles
Afterlife battles that involve the Lord and/or Lady of Utopia or the Underworld are judged a little differently than normal battles. Because the Lords and Ladies have special powers, they will be allotted a special ethereal attack that is judged solely in quality rather than its affects. The amount of ethereal attacks will be determined before the battle takes place, just like the number of hits and dodges.

All other Afterlife characters will be stripped of their powers when fighting mortal horses. The exception is seraphs, fiends, and daeva, who cannot touch mortals and thus cannot fight them at all.
